STYLECRAFT CABINETS

Within six months, the thermafoil laminate began to separate at the mitered corners. Stylecraft Cabinets has replaced, over the last five and half years, ALL of the cabinet and drawer fronts at least once. Several have been replaced twice. Repeated efforts to have the cabinets replaced with a different style were refused. Stylecraft continued replacing the cabinets during the entire 5-year warranty period. In April of 2011, we wrote a letter to the owner of CamTech, Jim Campana, explaining the problem and requesting either a refund or a different style of cabinet door/drawer front to be installed. We credited Stylecraft Cabinets for their diligence in replacing the product, but since it failed early and continually, it seemed foolish to keep replacing them with the same product. We got no response from Mr. Campana whatsoever. Rick at Stylecraft told me that Mr. Campana dismissed our complaint, saying that we were washing the cabinets too frequently. Then Rick claimed that our unit was too hot and too humid, and that this must be the cause. Our unit, one of 84 units in a beachfront condominum complex, is subject to exactly the same conditions as all the other units. Our AC is set at 80 throughout the summer, as is the norm. Styelcraft gets a a lot of business from unit owners here, and is very familiar with our climate conditions. Rick told us repeatedly that "this has never happened before", as if THAT were a valid reason to deny our request to correct the problem. In March of 2013, we contacted Stylecraft once more. By that time, another twelve door fronts had separated. We offered to pay the labor costs of installing new door/drawer fronts, if Styelcraft and CamTech would agree to give us a different product. A few days later we stopped in to see if Rick had spoken with Mr. Campana at CamTech. He told us that CamTech would not replace the product, and then went on to repeat his theory that our unit conditions were to blame. This product is either badly made, or not suitable for our climate. In either case, Stylecraft Cabinets and CamTech are responsible for standing by their products. They were happy to sell it to us, with full knowledge of the environmental conditions. And when the product failed, they didn't do the right thing, which is to replace the product with something reliable. Friends of ours who recently hired Stylecraft to reface their cabinets, were in fact advised by Stylecraft NOT to buy the style of thermafoil doors that were installed in our unit. So, Rick, the next time this happens, please try an honest, heartfelt apology to your customer, instead of blaming the victim. And if CamTech is at fault, go to bat with them for your customers instead of siding with them. As a result of the unprofessional and dismissive treatment we received, we will advise others to stay away from Styelcraft Cabinets and CamTech products.
