Rowland & Son Tree Service

They came quickly and saved us from a giant limb falling on our house. They worked in the rain to get it done and cleaned up after. Hurricane Helene would have knocked that limb down the next day. I am grateful.

This contractor was exceptional. Set the quote appointment and was on time. Set removal date and didn't vary. Very timely on removal of trees inclusive of hauling all debris and cleaning up. Tree climber was used minimizing impact to grounds and safety of house structure. He is one of the best climbers I've seen in a long time. The team of 3 were very courteous, professional, and efficient with the job and I will hire them again for additional work that will need to be done. I highly suggest this tree service to anyone! On March 5, 2011, we hired Rowland and Son to trim a tree branch leaning on our roof and some dead limbs of another branch that were threatening damage to our house. The company came rapidly as promised to take care of the problem. When we first discussed the situation with them, the owner, Jack Rowland, told us he would use a bucket to remove the offending limbs. On arrival to perform the work, the crew did not have a bucket, but assured us they could work just as safely and faster by climbing the tree. We allowed them to work. The first branch they cut fell onto a fence, damaging it slightly. The job then proceeded with no further incidents until the large branches had all been cut and were being picked up from the ground and placed in the truck for removal. Rather than using a bucket or crane to pick the limbs up, the crew formed a tripod using a large limb attached to the tree, ropes, and a truck. The tripod truck was used to hoist the limbs from the ground, and a second truck was moved beneath the limbs to collect the branches. As one of the last large branch pieces was being lifted, the tree limb to which the hoist pulley was tied broke off the tree causing the branch segment to fall to the ground and the limb to: break part of the roof overhang off the house, lift several of the roof boards with their shingles, and put a hole in the roof. At this point, the crew gathered the remaining branches and limbs and departed the premises with a promise that they would have the damage to the roof repaired. The crew member in the tree had noted a large cable had been tied around the tree just above that limb many years ago. But he did not examine the limb, as he should have, before using it to hold the pulley to lift the heavy branch segments. It was obvious after the limb broke that the cable had caused the upper portion of it to rot deeply into the tree and compromise the limb's structural integrity. After the crew left, we noticed a large cut-off limb was left swinging in the tree over thirty feet above the ground and our neighbor's yard light (that the crew lowered to keep it from being damaged while working on the tree) was not returned to its original height. Because we have had several severe storms since March, and the company had already missed several deadlines to repair it, I had the roof repaired at my own expense in May. All I am asking for now is for Rowland and Son to restore our neighbor's yard light to its original height and to take the hanging branch out of the tree. I would do these things myself, but do not have a ladder tall enough to reach either the light or the swinging branch. We have called frequently and left numerous messages asking to get these items remedied, but as of this date, June 8, 2011, they have done nothing about the limb or the light. When we have talked to a person, they promise to come over to remedy the situation: ?by the end of the week,? ?tomorrow?, and recently, ?today.? But all of their promised dates have passed and they have not shown up.
