We have 25 top notched employees to assist you in your needs. We operate out of fully stocked dispatched service vans. Our management staff has over 100 years of electrical experience. This company combines non-responsiveness with rude customer service. Avoid them. In early May we called them to get an estimate for some outdoor electric work. Their electrician showed up but we have yet to get an estimate now almost 3 months later. After repeated calls to get the estimate, all we have gotten is a bill; (who charges for estimates? At least they are efficient in sending a bill!) My wife called this week for the 4th time to ask for the estimate, and was told by an unbelievably rude woman that she had never called (false). Rather than being helpful, the woman kept repeating that she has worked there for 7 years and that she had never spoken to my wife. I am not sure who answered the phone on the previous calls, but it doesn't matter. It probably wasn't the "Miss Congeniality" that she encountered today, because who could forget someone that rude? After some back and forth about the missing estimate, my wife told the woman that we would not work with GC; the woman then hung up on her (classy!). The rudeness of this customer service person is even worse than the inability of this company to produce an estimate in 3 months. Their modus operandi seems to be "blame the customer." We did actually like the friendly and knowledgeable electrician who came to our house, but we were informed by the rude woman that he had "been let go." Seems like they let the wrong person go! Very disappointing experience.

We found that the first issue stemmed from our technician calling your service appointment as ‘complete’ and not an estimate request. That incorrectly caused us to close your work order, send you an invoice, and consider the job finished. Please ignore and throw away the invoice. It has been removed from our system. Unfortunately, your account was not the only one affected by this employee’s recurring mistakes, and we had to terminate this employee. Gulf Coast Electric prides ourselves on accuracy and efficiency, and we strive to maintain the best of the best employees to ensure the best customer experience we can. I cannot speak to the other phone calls as much since I was not on the calls, however, I have personally spoken with everyone in our office regarding any and all customer communication to maintain our high level of professionalism at all times. If someone came across rudely or in any way made you feel uncomfortable, or if we dropped the ball thinking your job was complete, I am truly very sorry. We have been serving the Destin community for over 43 years continually winning local and regional awards for our electrical services, and I can assure you that we take all criticism as a learning opportunity. While we would still love to earn your business, I thank you for your comments, and hope to work with you in the future.

The power went out in out home about 9:45 PM. Checked outside and neighbors and all seemed to have power. FLP said power was coming to our home. Called other electrical companies for electrician with no success. Called Gulf Coast Electric. Spoke with Eddie and he drove from Crestview to our home in Shalimar in less than an hour. We explained the problem and he knew where to start and found we had a finicky main switch. He replaced it and we had power restored in less than thirty minutes. My husband and I are very impressed with Eddie's promptness, professionalism and skill. Even though the repair took place after midnight, Eddie demonstrated zeal for the job like it was a regular work hour. We both are thankful and grateful for Eddie restoring power in our home.

Things could not have gone more smoothly or professionally. The work was done to a high standard and at a reasonable price. Craig, the electrician who did the work, explained what he was doing every step of the way. In particular, he planned the work so as to minimize any subsequent drywall repair. We could not be more pleased with Gulf Coast Electric and Craig, and will be using them again soon for some additional work.

The repairman fixed the GFCI to the lighting and a switch for the pool light. The reason I won’t use them again is I was charged an extra $79 for living in Santa Rosa Beach. I was not advised there was an extra charge for where I lived.

Please understand that as an industry standard we apply a Service Call charge to ALL of our invoices, as we communicate our pricing break out in a scripted reply when potential customers make their initial call to our office for service. We are dedicated to explaining to each customer the variance of Service Call pricing depending on job location (in your case a $10.00 increase from our base Service Call charge of $69.00). Please accept my personal apology if this was not clearly articulated to you. As mentioned, applying a variable Service Call rate is an industry standard and is used to account for travel time to and from job sites. It also enhances our quick response and service times as we uphold our pledge to provide unsurpassed electrical service. There are some comparable companies who do charge outright travel time, which varies widely depending on where the electrician is coming from, in lieu of a service charge. However, we do not believe this is a fair approach to have a customer bear the burden of having to pay for our electrician while enroute to the job location; especially when his previous job site very well may be many miles away and having to navigate through heavy traffic. We believe a flat rate service charge is more equitable. While we pride ourselves on being the best electrical service company around, we realize that sometimes our goal of maintaining our highest quality standards comes at a price. Our records indicate we performed a multiple and various electrical items to include: install 4 dimmers, replaced 2 ceiling fans, installed dedicated receptacle to support chandelier, installed said chandelier, installed dedicated 3-speed fan control switch, installed a junction box and associated bathroom fixture, relocated existing switching to support installation of molding trim, installed receptacle and cable to support relocation of TV onto the wall, installed under cabinet lighting, installed switch and outlet for garbage disposal, evaluated and made sure safe condition existed for the sub-panel and cleaned off bus bar, in addition to accomplishing other minor electrical work. This was accomplished during 3 separate visits (approximately 20 hours). Contractor appeared clean, knowledgeable and professional. Troubleshooting took about an hour and 15 to 20 minutes to fix problem. Had two concerns. Contractor had to go in the attic and left a trail of fiberglass insulation pieces through multiple rooms the house after they left. Job took about 1 hour and 15-20 minutes. The spend 40 minutes or so taking tools out to truck and preparing bill. Appearance of padding labor to charge 2 hours of labor. Edit: I talked with the owner, and he resolved all issues that I had.
Description of Work: Had two rooms that lost power. Trouble shooting and found loose connection in the attic.

As explained, our electricians round to the nearest 5 minutes when computing time spend on the job site, in addition to taking the necessary time to conduct accurate troubleshooting. It is my understanding you accepted this explanation; and to further enhance our "good will" we reimbursed you with a check which equated to 1/2 hour of labor even though we believe our charge for time spent on the job was [Member Information Removed]. In light of our exchange, I am surprised to discover your C rating on Angie's List which implies we "padded" our labor, and that we did not clean up after ourselves. Mr. Sherritzee, please understand we place a high value on our integrity; we embrace our integrity as the first pillar of our core values (commitment to SAFETY is second, and our EXCELLENCE serves as our third). As such, I must take exception to your assertion that we "padded" the labor on our invoice as this is in direct contradiction to our core value. In June 2016 we conferred with our electrician, validated his time card, and conducted our own internal assessment of what we accomplished at your residence and concluded our fee was warranted. Regarding your assessed "C" grade on our responsiveness and punctuality, please feel free to contact me directly to further enlighten us on how we were not up to our typical standards in these areas. Our records indicate you called in for service on a Monday during our peak season, and we accommodated you on the following Friday for regularly scheduled service (you also had the option to elect for our Same Day Service provided at an elevated rate). Regardless of your rating(s), we sincerely appreciate your submittal of our performance as we understand this to be a valuable forum in ultimately providing a high quality of customer service. We're also appreciative of your intent to modify your initial ratings of our performance through Angie's List. We strive hard to exceed expectations, but acknowledge that we sometimes miss the mark. I have used this company repeatedly for this and other jobs including extensive landscaping lighting that required exact measurement of distances so that the right transformers and cable sizes could be determined and installed. They are always responsive and superb workers. I also used them to install power lines at my church. Their work is neat and professional in every way. I can't say enough about them. They're great.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot bathroom ceiling lights that were overheating and shutting off, removed attic insulation that was placed too close to them; supplied and installed ten new ceiling cans, installed two light trims, replaced a floor outlet, trouble shoot oven light. Six hours labor involved and $642 in materials.

Went well, very professional work, good worker on time and kept everything clean in each location he worked.

The technician, Roger, arrived on time and was extremely polite and professional. He was very knowledgeable, explained what had to be done and why and worked non-stop until the project was complete. I might add that this wasn't a small project and took a day and a half. I my opinion he should be the "employee of the month"! I just paid my bill and the charges were exactly what I expected, they were explained to me when I called to schedule the work. I might also add that we are in the process of renovating a home and have worked with many trades people during the process and this is some of the best service we have encountered .

The company apologized for not getting back to us following our initial attempt to contact them and promptly sent Don out to give us a quote. We received a quote of $900 maximum or time and materials--whichever was less. We were told by Don that labor was $69 an hour. There was some question as to how long it would take and how extensive the job would be since the ceiling fan that needed a light kit was 20 foot high on an extension rod and even higher to the ceiling (approximately 30 feet) and it wasn't clear if fan had already been prewired for a light kit --luckily it had been so installation went quickly. Our electrician "Ron" was very personable, knowledgeable and professional. He called approximately 30 minutes before his arrival time to let us know he was on his way and arrived on time. When he left everything was in working order but apparently two of the four LED bulbs we purchased from Lowes were defective and so they stopped working after about an hour or two. When we contacted Gulf Coast Electric they promptly scheduled for Ron to come out the next day to help us change lights out because we didn't have a 10 foot ladder and we really appreciated his assistance. Just a few things to bring to everyone's attention. In addition to time and material we were also charged for a service charge and two 10' ladder fees. A summary of materials provided by the company include the following: 2 dimmer switches (one for LED lights), 2 LED exterior flood lights plus installation supplies including wire, straps, wire nuts, etc. Total time the first day was three hours and without telling us in advance we were also charged for an additional hour of labor the next day plus the additional ladder fee while Ron spent less than 10 minutes changing our light bulbs out. Again, we appreciated him coming out but had we known it would cost an additional $69 plus ladder fee we probably would have borrowed a neighbor's ladder and done it ourselves. Initially the final invoice was $838 and after my husband spoke to George it was decreased to $795.99.
Description of Work: Electrician arrived at 8:15 am and left at 11:15 am. He provided and installed two dimmer switches, installed a light kit to ceiling fan which required a 10 foot ladder (light kit was provided by customer), and he provided and installed two exterior LED flood lamps. He returned the next day at approximately 1:30pm and left at 1:40pm to replace 2 LED bulbs that stopped working following installation the previous day.

We, at Gulf Coast Electric, are very grateful you ultimately trusted us to perform work at your residence in light of the fact we "stumbled out of the gates" by not providing you an estimate in a timely fashion (reference your previous review and our subsequent response). And we especially thank you for your overall positive review! However, we are disappointed that after providing a quote which was reduced to make up for your initial inconvenience, and then followed up with the option to perform our work on a Time & Material basis with a NOT TO EXCEED price of $900.00 (which you approved), you were still not satisfied with our price even though it came in $62.00 below our NTE quote. As we discussed, we pride ourselves in employing the BEST service electricians in the area, and thus recognize we must pay a premium to garner and retain our highly qualified and talented work force. Additionally, we are a fully licensed, insured and bonded company; it is our hope our customers understand there is an overhead cost associated with maintaining these high standards. Otherwise, thank you once again for your overall favorable review, and we hope you consider using us in the future if whenever you require quality services of an electrician!

Last week we reviewed electricians on Angie's List and seeing mostly positive reviews sent a request to Gulf Coast Electric via the link provided with a brief description of the work we needed done. We provided our contact information including address and two different cell phone numbers. When we didn't hear back from anyone we called their office on Monday of this week and spoke with a customer service representative who said someone would call us back within two days to schedule an appointment. Today is Friday and no one has called. Luckily the work we need done is not urgent--however we are disappointed in the lack of follow-thru and wanted to let others know what happened. A neighbor provided us the name of another electrical company and so we're calling them this morning. Hopefully we'll have better luck with them.

Description of Work: fixed porch light that wasn't working. fixed my dryer cord. fixed the wall electric plug for my dryer. fixed loose and tested a few other electric plugs.

The technicians were on time, courteous and worked from start to finish of the project. I had too split the work into 2 visits, but that was all handled well by the scheduling staff. Very responsive, very clean and very professional! Definitely would recommend GCE to my friends. : )
Description of Work: GCE installed 6 outlets and 6 lights in the storage area under my house. They also installed 6 power outlets inside my home.

It went great! I am active duty military and manage my Florida property from overseas. The coordination with this company and Judy, the receptionist, was top-notch! Email is my primary means of communication and when I told them that, they kept me in the loop on every detail -- I loved working with this company and will hire them again in the future if needed, no questions asked!
Description of Work: Provider inspected electrical portion of wall oven unit and installed a new, larger amp.
