Five Star Beach Properties

First, the house was advertised as a 2nd row house with quick beach access. That means, across the street from a first row house. We had to walk two blocks for beach access. Could have rented a house several rows back, at substantial savings, with the same time to the beach. The most concerning issue was the wifi. This was an important feature for us, as 2 in our party had work to complete during the week and internet access is critical. When we arrived on Sat. night, we noticed the wifi was not working. We called maintenance on Sunday to report the problem. It is a simple problem to rectify........ when a router is not working, you replace it with a new one. At most, a 1 hour service call. On Sunday night, the maintenance person from Five Star could not correct the problem and stated that it would be fixed first thing Monday morning. It wasn't. Finally, on Monday, we called Five Star to inquire. They said that they had no knowledge of our issue. On Monday afternoon, another maintenance person came to the house, without a router, but was nice enough to leave his personal hotspot for our use. That worked ok, as were able to get to the wifi from anywhere in the house. He assured us that it would be repaired on Tue. It wasn't. Then, on Wed., without any notice before or after, someone came and put in a new router. While that seemed good, no sign-on instructions or any messages were left for us. We simply noticed that the hotspot was gone. Then we spent time trying to figure out if the router had been replaced. We got signed on through the wifi only to be saddened that it was only available in the main family room of the house........... unsuitable for any work. That night, I became quite upset and made repeated calls to Five Star Maintenance Department. I did not have any calls returned. To pay so much to endure this kind of service is quite sad. My quests were not happy and I was embarrassed. I was very disappointed about our vacation week in Destin. I guess it is fair to say that Five Star Beach Properties is in the business of renting vacation properties, but NOT in the business of assuring happy and satisfied vacationers. Ed Cummings
