Russ was exceptional. We were in the process of selling our house, with an open house scheduled for the weekend. Russ arrived same day after a late afternoon call and conducted an assessment. When he determined that our outside A/C unit needed complete replacement and the system as a whole was outdated, he took the time to walk us through all the options to minimize expense while providing the best long-term fix with up-to-date equipment. Given the situation, another contractor could have just told us the entire system needed replacement throughout the house and charged us $6-10K and we would not have been the wiser. But Russ stepped through every option possible and made sure we were getting exactly what we needed -- no more and no less. And then he completed the replacement under estimate and in short time...all with a smile on his face in the 90 degree/100 percent humidity of an early Florida summer. It's been two months and the A/C works great. We couldn't be happier. I highly recommend Destin Air Conditioning & Refrigeration to anyone.

It was a hot August summer day here in Florida, so we were very thankful Russ came within only a few hours of calling the office for service. He was quick to diagnose the problem and was courteous, knowledgeable and very professional. His rates are on par with all other A/C repair companies in the area so although paying almost $400 for a repair is a lot of money, it's much better than having to replace the whole system. We would definitely use his services again and recommend them to others.

Russ and his guys did a great job, arriving on time, doing the work very thoroughly, for a good price. He replaced our entire heat and a/c system, taking care to do it with excellence, correcting the things that had not been done well originally. He made suggestions for ways we could prolong the life of the new system, displaying honesty and integrity in not trying to sell us anything more than we really needed. They did the work in an orderly way, cleaning up well afterwards. We were very happy!

One of my two A/C units stopped cooling completely. Russ came out and showed me that the freon was leaking out of the accumulator which was badly corroded. The part had to be ordered, but he put more freon to keep the A/C going until they came back and made the actual repair. They also did a complete checkup on my second unit and gave both a thorough (and way overdue) cleaning. After the two repair visits, my overall opinion is that he and his crew are nice people and very honest. They were focused on fixing my problem instead of trying to sell me something I didn't need. I will definitely use them again.

I originally selected Destin AC and Refrigeration 20 years ago based on Russ's proven experience (ongoing working relationships with many businesses and homeowners in the area), excellent reputation, and knowledge of his character to be honest and diligent. I have never been disappointed, and I have always received exceptional service. Even during the peak summer repair season, Russ and his crew have always provided very fast service, almost always same day or next day, including nights and weekends. I can trust Russ to determine to problem, repair it right, at an extremely reasonable price. He uses quality parts (not inferior or cheap parts) and at the same time does not overstate what is needed. Start to finish, he explains what is needed, options for repairs, work conducted, and expected outcomes. I think his reliable service has saved me thousands of dollars over the years, when other companies may have inflated repair prices or tried to sell unneeded new systems. It is refreshing to be able to support a local family business whose owner and crew provide consistently outstanding service.

Responded to my call immediately and was repairing and flushing the pipes within two hours after call. Nice guys who knew what they were doing and came prepared. Will definitely call them again.

Told me some things that I had been doing that were myth and told me what I should be doing with out advising me of any options that would cost me money. Left me with several tablets that would keep my system clean at no charge. Actually ended up charging me less than initially quoted on the phone.

Arrived at our vacation home on Friday night to find the AC not working. Called Russ at 8:20 am on a Sat. He was at our house by 10:00 am. Spent over 2 hours diagnosing the issue. Did a great job. Will only use Russ on the future.

I own property in Florida, but live in Texas. Therefore, I need competent, reliable and honest contractors who can address repairs and emergency issues and get the job done with little or no supervision. Russell did just that. Although he was not as punctual as I would have liked, it was the middle of summer and he had several other repairs underway. His price was fair and he was courteous and professional. I anticipate using him again on another property.

I have 2 AC units in my house. One was no longer cooling and the inside unit was freezing up and becoming encrusted in ice. The company that installed my system was no longer in business. I joined Angie's list and reviewed local HVAC repair services. Destin Refrigeration was the clear leader of all reviews. I phoned and spoke to Russ. I described the problem and he offered two possible diagnoses. He got directions to my house and was able to make a service call that same day. Russ was friendly, calm, and professional. He confirmed that the freon was low. He located the leak in side the compressor. He disassembled the compressor, made the repair, and refilled the freon. He also endured a bee string as the compressor was located directly under a bee hive beneath my house. The repair took 2.75 hours and my AC functions very well.

The service man was very friendly and helpful. Told us everything he checked, told us what could have been problem. Said it could be low on freon, so we should watch for another day.

The company that manages our condo unit sent out somebody to fix our A/C who told us we needed to spend $1,200.00 on a new one. We decided to get a second opinion. Not only did Destin A/C and Refrigeration fix our A/C, they estimated that we should be able to get at least three more years out of it. Mr Fife personally performed the job. He was prompt (which kept our tenant cool), economical and reliable. He runs a trustworthy business that I would even feel comfortable sending to my mother’s house.

my air conditioner was leaking out water in to my house i had to put towels all around to soak up the water it was bad. he came and cleared out the lines and some stuff came out and then he left me tablets for furture use. Thank you Destin Air Conditioning you are GREAT!!!!

Russ and Steven came to the house within 5 hrs after my call. On the first visit they were a couple of hours late due to a previous job that took longer than plan but they called me to say they were running late. They put Freon in the ac to keep me cool until they could return the next day for more extensive work. That was much appreciated due to the extreme heat outside. Didn't need any more immediate service than just the Freon but I requested they replace/relocate the filter driers so they came back the next day to do this. The second day they called before arriving and replaced both filter driers that were rusted and relocated driers from outside locations to indoor units. While here, Russ checked indoor units; treated drains with algaecide; evacuated and charged; sealed unit in attic with tape from air leaks; reinsulated vapor lines outside. Both days of work for two guys was 2 1/2 hrs total. Russ's estimate on his work, from the first day, was a little bit less than what was actually charged but I feel like I got my money's worth and the cost was fair. I didn't shop around for other HVAC companies because I have always had good luck with Angie's List vendors. I will definitely call on them again and recommended him to friends. Their experience and knowledge was evident. Russ and Steven were very professional, friendly and easy to talk to about the problems with our heating and air. Russ gave advice to my questions about my dehumidifiers and how to properly use them. Also answered questions about getting an annual maintenance agreement.

From the time he came to finish (as stated above) he was very nice, and went about his work.

Did not return calls; did not fix unit and did not return unit

went well....a few things had gone bad on the unit while i had been away for a few months. Russ was able to fix most of them quickly and easily could have tried to sell me a new unit but didnt which makes me think he is an honest guy. the original problem i detected with the unit was that the fan was locked up. worked fine of course when he was here but has since returned to siezing. called same guy russ to come fix it today and he is on his way. fast turnaround and i expect it should be fixed today.

They really went the extra mile and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. The other big company was trying to sell me one of their new units before they even looked mine. I found Destin Air was timely, professional and honest but at a much more resonable price. I like doing business with this experienced small company and would recommend them to anyone with ac questions that don't want to be taken to the cleaners unnecessarily.

He was the cheapest bid and a fellow brother if Christ. There was no one else we would have trusted to get the job done and done right.
