This work was done on our rental house. My bride and I lived in the house from 1989 to 2008, and we now rent it to a very dear friend. We found David Meyer through Angie's List [based mostly on the reviews] and sent him an email (BTW: I only attempt to contact a contractor one time. That's it. If they don't respond to my message or email then they forfeit the opportunity to get my money.) David responded. We told David what we wanted to accomplish and told him we were open to suggestions on how best to reach that goal. He looked at the house, and then came back to us with a couple of options (with computer drawings which were done VERY nicely). It was clear he had researched the public property records on the house in an effort to minimize the chance for surprises which might affect the accuracy of his quotes. We were impressed with his professionalism. David presented us a simple, yet formal contract using hand-scribed signatures of all parties. No legalese, and no confusion about who-will-do-what (& when). We felt confident when we signed it. Other reviews on Angie's List speak highly of the courtesy and consideration displayed by those on David's crew. I can not: but my renter can because she experienced it every morning for the better part of two months. She absolutely loves these guys! Every time this subject comes up she looks me in the eye, smiles, and says "They're 7 o'clock people. They're there, they're working, and they keep the noise to a minimum." [Keep in mind, this addition on the house converted the 10' x 12' master bedroom into a 10' x 17' room, and it also added a 5' x 10' master bath. My dear tenant never stopped sleeping in the master bedroom! David's crew put up a plastic barricade to seperate living quarters from the construction zone.] She also tells me that all of her discussions with these fellas involved her hearing "Yes, Ma'am," "No, Ma'am," "We'll do our best, Ma'am." etc. Very respectful. She's in her 40's, but she never took offense to how she was addressed by these fellas (some of whom are very close to her in age.). The end result is that my bride & I walked into our former bedroom and agreed that we should have done this 20 years ago! We've now hired David for other projects. David Meyer is not the least expensive contractor in the area, but I believe you get what you pay for. Good work is rarely cheap, and cheap work is rarely good.

Contacted Mr. Meyer in the middle of June and asked for an estimate on repairing my ceiling. There are 3 areas that need repair, due to a previous storm. We needed at least 3 estimates for our insurance company and when scheduling these estimates I disclosed that information up front. Mr. Meyer stated that he would contact me within a week to schedule a time to conduct estimate. I still had not heard from him by 30 June so I posted a message on Angie's List...within an hour or so I received a reply that he was sorry for delay and would contact me soon to schedule appt. Mr. Meyer did finally come out to my house the first week of August. I was told that he would send me the estimate within 24 hours. On 11 August I sent him another Angie's List message (received reply within hour or so???) and he replied with a cost for repair, but NO written estimate. I was told that I would get a written estimate, if I chose his company to do the work. I don't understand why I couldn't get a written estimate which is what I requested to begin with! This has caused a delay in getting repair done because now I have to find another company to come and give me a written estimate FOR MY INSURANCE COMPANY.

He gave honest estimate and discussed extra costs if more damage was found. Actual cost was below his worst case possible cost. Workmen were experienced, professional, did what ever they could to please and ensure the job was done right. They cleaned up well and did the job in two days. I will use him again if needed.

David was very easy to work with. He had great ideas and a dedicated crew. We are very happy with the workmanship and experience in general. I would recommend them.

Our windows were custom and it took a while to find a company to make them due to size and shape. It was important to check the initial proposal since an incorrect configuration was initially submitted. The installation and finishing details were done very well. All workers were very pleasant and did good work. The final cost was lower than the estimate! David always returned email and phone calls quickly and made sure all aspects were completed to our satisfaction. I highly recommend this company.

Our Remodel is going very well, and is actually still in process. Overall I am very happy with David Meyer and his crew. I interviewed several contractors before selecting David. I picked David for his excellent reputation as a home builder and remodeler. He is known for high quality work and craftsmanship, his attention to details, and quickly and satisfactorily resolving any issues that might arise. Upon meeting David I found he had excellent customer communication skills, he clearly explained everything about the remodeling process, and did not make any unrealistic promises or expectations about the amount of time it would take. I initially only hired David for our Kitchen remodel, but after working with him and feeling more and more comfortable with his process and skills, I also hired him to remodel our 2 bathrooms. I found Davids price quotes to be very fair. He was not the cheapest nor the most expensive, He was fair. David also worked with me to help contain my budget, making recommendations on where I could cut costs on materials and labor without sacrificing quality. Also providing advice on how certain style decision might look or work and what might work better. His advice allowed us to do more than we originally thought we could afford. I did most the demolition and rip out of kitchen and both bathrooms myself, with Davids crew handling the more physically demanding demolition. I found Davids crew of carpenters, plumbers etc are skilled, polite, punctual and accommodating and when on site they are always working. As I stated earlier our Remodel is still in process and I will be back to update this when done.

He came out and measured, and said we'd here from him on the following week. That was 3 weeks ago. If a contractor does not have time and decides not to quote, it would be common courtesy to call and let us know so that we can pursue other options.

I asked David to come out to give me a quote for 3 different tasks related to windows, a sliding glass door, and the fireplace. He diagnosed my problems on the spot, fixed the fireplace problem immediately (it was trivial for him and just took a second) at no charge, and recommended getting the windows repaired inexpensively instead of replacing them as I requested. He knew of another provider in the area who could do all the window and door repairs more cheaply than he could replace the windows. He saved me a bundle in the process and didn't take a dime from me. I asked him to give me a quote for specific tasks and he took a broad systems look at the problems I was solving. Instead of just giving me a quote, he gave me a way to solve the problem without doing what I'd requested at all. I'd call him again if I needed building work done. It was obvious that he's in the business of solving problems and not just the business of making money.

You couldn't ask for a better worker. He is the most professional person you can ever find. David has been doing work for my husband and me for over 20 years, and we don't even bother to call anyone else. He is prompt, honest, and cleans up his job sites. We would highly recommend him.

The crew was on time and did a great job. The bathroom tiles look very nice. The door project went well also; the crew left everything very clean. We decided to have them do the same thing to a door on another house where leaking was also creating problems. David was very familiar with what needed to be done and had completed many other similar repairs of the doors. We will definitely call on him again. He is very professional and reliable. We were happy to have found him through Angie's List.

I bought a condo that had been built in 1985. It badly needed updating. They scraped the popcorn ceiling, made it smooth and more modern. They took out the linoleum in the bathrooms and kitchen and put in ceramic tile. They completely renovated my kitchen, bathrooms and installed all new light fixtures. They updated the stair railings, hung new ceiling fans and moved my washer and dryer from the kitchen to the hallway (they had to create a new opening altogether with doors facing into the hallway). They did a fantastic job ! I was especially impressed with Paul , the foreman. His attention to detail and his work ethic was top notch! The crew was always on time and did an excellent job. I highly recommend them!!!!

We were able to get an idea of what it would take to bring this home up to the standard we would like to live in. He came on the scene at a time when we were unsure if the house we were contracted to buy was found to have some large issues, we would need to have corrected, had just been discovered. He was patient and linformative. He broke down the needs of the house and gave us ballpark figures for what it would cost. His advice was crucial in helping us to decide if we were willing to take on the task. We would definitely feel comfortable using him as a contractor. He seemed forthright and honest.

David's guys were very punctual and worked ahead of and around the cabinet installers very well. They were able to make the minor adjustments to the electrical on one wall so the cabinet installers could start working there right away when they arrived 3 hours later. On-site, they did additional 4-way and 3-way switch wiring not included in the original quote, as well as some minor flashing repair around the chimney We had a few minor issues with the electrical work, which is why we are only rating the quality as "good". However, everything we identified as not being to our satisfaction was fixed very quickly. We would use David and his team again when we renovate our bathrooms.

Did not bother to call us back after calling them multiple times.

We needed someone who would build a non-structural bar-height wall as part of our kitchen renovation. As part of that, we needed new electrical outlets, moving some electrical within existing circuits, minor plumbing, minor trim work, and replacing all the dry-wall we tore out as part of the demo. When I first met with David, he was very understanding of what we were trying to do. We wanted professionally built bar-wall on the concrete slab foundation, and electrical up to code for new island and bar plugs. He was very forthcoming about what his costs would be if he undertook overall coordination of the cabinet and granite installers we had already chosen, giving us the opportunity to make the best choice for our time and finances. When the work started, David's team and the cabinet installers came on the same day. David's team started on the wall needing the least drywall and electrical work so the cabinet installers could also get that wall done in the first day. After that, they tackled the big drywall work, and everything else. They worked well with the cabinet installers, did all their cutting outside on our front porch to minimize dust in the house, and communicated frequently about any issues or time constraints they had. When we asked them to do some additional electrical work, as well as repair some siding and flashing leaking in the house, they handled all very quickly and professionally. David's team was quick to resolve some trim and electrical work we were not completely satisfied with. We have already recommended David to several friends getting ready to do similar work and will likely call on him again when we renovate our laundry room and master bath.

David did the original remodel on our home and we could not have been more pleased with his work. THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT AFTER WORK COMPLETE SUPPORT. Almost a year to the day after we moved in to our remodeled home we had an Air Conditioner drain pan overflow and floor damage. David Meyer was called and he had his AC Man on the job quickly.When the floor was dried he replace the wood flooring. All at no cost to us. What was most impressive was that while his team was working on the floor the job foreman did a walk through looking for other areas that may need attention. He notice a very small leak spot on the ceiling that would have developed into a much bigger problem over time. His team then went on the roof and repair/replace a large section of roof shingles to insure we did not have any future problems. After the paint touch up a problem we did not know we had was fixed. You can't go wrong by choosing David Meyer and his team to do any level of construction you may have.

Were here a week and it was messy, but am pleased with results.David was a very nice guy.

David Meyer continues to run his company the way that we wish all companies would be run. I have used David Meyer for all our repair/maintenance needs, 3 times, since his first job with us. See my first review (05/31/2012): Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! -- these are the sounds of a satisfied homeowner. I have been on the planet for 67 years, and I could write a book on the pitfalls of not doing everything yourself. I am a true cynic. So, when I take the time to write a review, it is because I appreciate an exception to the rule. If you are looking for the perfect contractor/crew, David Meyer is it! -- The initial site visit and subsequent quote submission were executed exactly according to schedule. -- Great price (I was cautious about contacting a contractor, as opposed to an individual, because I assumed the price would be higher - not so, I got three prior estimates.), convenient experience for homeowner, high quality results, motivated workers, many details taken care of without homeowner oversight, such as: plumbing, electrical, scaffolding, debris removal, clean-up, etc., etc. David Meyer's crew behaves as if they each want to have a permanent, full-time job and keep it! -- unusual for many who work in construction. They actually were time-urgent! Each day of work, the crew arrived at about 6:45 AM, fifteen minutes prior to starting work. The quality of materials/nails/screws/primer/paint/wood was all first rate... stainless steal/galvanized/oil-based/pressure-treated to withstand our harsh saltwater environment. David Meyer kept us aware of the plan for each day as we progressed. Method of payment and payment schedule was more than reasonable. Mr. Meyer obtained appropriate permits, as needed. The entire project was completed according to schedule and according to price. You won't do better!

Their estimate was incredibly expensive. It was thrice what we expected it to be. Their price was over $15,000 and we expected it to be maybe $4,000. That was the bid that we had gotten from other people, between $4,000 and $6,000. I liked his punctuality and professionalism. I am sure that he has a great team and it would be a great porch for that price but we were not asking for something like that. We talked to him about that and we were very specific. We even showed him pictures, the same things that we had been showing everybody else that came out to talk to us. He was quick to get out here and give us that quote. He was also very professional.

David?Meyer, of David Meyer Builder, provided the most practical and cost effective solution to a major 1990 renovation project on our house, one of the older homes.? He built our guest cottage on?time and within the estimate.?Since that time we have used David Meyer for multiple projects in and around our house and cottage: a greenhouse and workshop added to the cottage, kitchen renovation, windows replacement, installation of new kitchen equipment, major door replacements, and deck repair.? Currently, he has just completed a ?back to the studs and floor reconstruction? bathroom replacement, replacement of badly weathered siding, complete house and cottage painting, a very large deck replacement (1200 sq.ft.), and installation and plumbing of new kitchen appliances. David?s?crew supervisors are without peers; they are competent and sensitive to the disruption in the customer's daily routine and importance of on-time completion.? The work crews are skilled, proficient, and innovative. When they leave at the end of their day you find they have cleaned up the area and all tools have been removed. We trust David Meyer to give us a fair estimate of the job to be performed by a well-paid supervisor and crew, on time, and to our complete satisfaction.? really nice person. seemed very competent. but the quote was too high for me. next time around probably will give him a call though.

He's very professional, prompt, responsive, helpful but just a little bit higher than what I wanted to pay so I did not use him. Had I not had a significantly high offer, I would totally hire him. He is competitive with some of the other bidders but not quite a little bit.

Excellent team. The gates are strong and level; swing freely and close completely. The deck issue has been resolved with the installation of the joist beam. Beautiful, well-constructed work.

They did an excellent job and overall it went over well and they did things right. I would recommend him to anybody. They are easy to work with and they have a lot of great ideas.
