Pool was fixed and looks great.
Description of Work: We had Bright Blue Pools replaster our pool two years ago. We experienced a problem with the plaster separating from the wall of the pool.We contacted Bright Blue Pools, and they said they will be by asap to take care of it.This is a vacation rental house so we had to wait until there was a vacancy to have them come over to fix it, and the owner Curtis sent someone to come out as soon as we let them know it was ready for repair. The owner Curtis came by within a few days to check the repair and to drop off 4 bags of salt and conditioner (since the pool needed to be drained) free of charge. We haven’t had any problems since the repair and it looks very nice too. They were very easy to work with and we would definitely recommend Bright Blue Pools to anyone that needs repairs to their in-ground pools.

Description of Work: Received a reasonable quote from Bright Blue, and contacted them afterward to schedule the work. We agreed that the work would be ready to begin in the next three weeks. That was four months ago, and after a dozen phone messages to the company they finally called back. | |It was explained by Bright Blue that they had been very busy...which I completely understand, but no one ever returned my voicemails to tell me that. After our second call I was told that they would begin the work in two days. Two days turned into three weeks, and I never heard from them again. | |Bright Blue quotes their projects at a reasonable price. Good luck getting them to ever show up though...

Response from Bright Blue Pool INC
We regret that this potential client had such an experience. Before we could move forward on this particular client's job we needed a down payment. We never received one and therefore could not put them on schedule. During our busy season it can be very challenging to respond to all requests for bids on work to be done. Even after a quote is given, scheduling in the extremely unpredictable Florida weather further complicates planning. Most clients understand what we're up against and are very reasonable in their expectations.

Description of Work: I called several people for quotes on a replaster job on a pool in four mile village for a property I was managing. All were close in price. The home owner had a bad experience in the past with a different company doing a poor job at different property. He insisted on removing 75% of old plaster first before replastering. Curtis at Bright Blue Pools was the only one that would go the extra step and got the job. I was happy to see them on the date they said they would be there and very impressed on how quick they got it knocked out.The pool looks brand new and it has been almost a year.

Awesome! Got an estimate on our pool after seeing the work that was done on a neighbor's pool. Pricing was well below other estimates. Scheduled the work to be done based on their schedule and our planned vacation. They showed up a few minutes early on the scheduled day. Drained the pool, sawed the expansion joints on the decking, and leveled the decking (quite a job). Prepared the pool for the re-plaster. Second day they re-plastered the pool with 4-5 people working. Following that they repainted the decking with two coats of paint. Everything was done in two days. Cleanup was very thorough. Everyone was very professional and worked very hard. Curtis is a pleasure to work with. Everyone who has seen the pool agrees that it looks brand new.
Description of Work: Leveled the pool deck and painted it. Re-plastered the pool. Re-grouted the tiles and replaced several broken tiles. Added decorative tiles on the steps and spa. Nice touch!

UPDATE as of 10/2015: I've had two other pool type contractors at my house to do other work, recoating of pool deck and equipment repair. Both commented on the poor plaster refinish job and were not surprised at when after they commented I advised them of the contractor's name. They both told me this had nothing to do with brushing and everything to do with the mix and the quality of the installation. One of the two told me that they would have not let this stand and would have redone it at their expense. Curtis' company provided a bid and was hired to refinish our small patio pool. The work was done as scheduled and initially all appeared well. I should note that my wife was present when the work was done but for personal reasons I was unable to be there. Because of that, I hired a pool company to come in and do the brushing required after a pool refinish. They have indicated to me that they had brushed the pool daily for the first couple of weeks then went to twice per week for a couple of weeks then went to weekly and at that time I returned and began brushing regularly. I also want it noted that I have had a pool in various homes I have lived in since 1999, some of which I had refinished. I have never experienced problems like this. After about 2 months, much of the surface of the pool became mottled looking, a gray color. At first I thought this was not enough brushing, and interestingly Curtis initially thought it was algae and the pool needed to be shocked. After extensive internet review, all experts state that this type of mottling is due to either later troweling of the surface and/or too much calcium chloride (used to quicken drying--so that the job can be finished more quickly). One just needs to do a search of gray mottling on resurfaced pools. All the opinions point toward poor plastering techniques. In addition, very small areas of the pool (smaller than a dime) have "lost" the plaster. Curtis, frankly being very responsive, has looked at it and has tried to repair by diamond pad and/or patching but again, it appears that the mix or troweling is the cause. I have never experienced this problem before. Note that the water is tested regularly by me and by a pool company with excellent results in terms of water quality. Curtis disagrees with the opinion of the experts, but did admit this is a "small job". He indicated it is calcium chloride which appears because of poor "brushing" with me wondering why it was in the mix to begin with and although I fully understand the need for brushing, why Curtis (and for that matter anyone else we talked to or read about) did not tell us that brushing was an absolute requirement to avoid a poor finish. I believe we did sufficient brushing, but If it was that important to him, he should have made it part of his bid. I believe that this small job, was treated just like a small job and the installers rushed to get to the next job and finish this quickly. The results are I have a poorly finished pool and will probably have to refinish shortly.

Response from Bright Blue Pool INC
This job was done with the utmost care. We carefully and clearly described the process to the homeowner and sufficiently stressed his need to brush the pool after completion. It is quite clear he did not follow the direction given resulting in the issues described above. We responded to his concerns immediately and did what we could, but his failure to follow our directions caused the end result. This response is belated due to the very heavy work volume this time of year. However, please know that we spend a lot of time with the homeowner going over all the particulars of the job because we are very concerned with maintaining a good name. Our work load and continued success speak volumes when it comes to customer satisfaction. We regret the homeowner's failure and had hoped for a better outcome.

I really can't brag on them enough. Curtis was patient with us while we chose tile/colors/etc even when we changed our minds a couple of times. They arrived promptly each morning, were professional and worked HARD. Curtis was either working along with them or checking in frequently. They worked hard to be sure we were happy with the results. They truly went above and beyond what we expected. I made a blogpost about the experience if you would like to photos of the work: http://outofthebluedestin.blogspot.com/2014/08/splish-splashpool-makeover-by-bright.html

Curtis (Bright Blue Pools' Owner) has been doing outstanding work for me on my pool for the last 15 years. I had been so impressed with the timeliness, quality of work, and his accommodating attitude that I decided if I needed any work done in the future I would use Bright Blue Pools. A few weeks ago I contracted him to replaster the pool, fix the main drain, and redo the cool decking around the pool. As usual, Curtis exceeded all of my expectations. His quote was reasonable and detailed. The timeframe I was given for the beginning and duration of the work to be done turned out to be spot on! The quality of all the work done was outstanding. There is fairly narrow access to my backyard. Bright Blue Pools was extremely respectful of my landscaping when entering or exiting my backyard. I highly recommend Bright Blue Pools and Curtis Nelson's work!!!

He evaluated my pool and decided it needed no work at present (pleasant surprise).. I watched his crew do my neighbors pool re-plaster, and was impressed. They did a neat and through job in a timely and professional manner. after the job was complete they did a through and complete clean up (including rinsing off my truck on an adjacent driveway to insure there was no dust residue). When my pool does need work, these are the guys I will call.

Pool resurfacing went ok, did a good job. But don't ever buy a salt system from him. He sold us one that didn't have any warranty with it and the system quit. He would not help us at all. He said fixing the system was the owners responsibility.

On a Saturday morning immediately following a couple days of severe thunderstorms, [remove member name]called our company complaining that her salt system was no longer working. We informed her that we didn’t provide warranty service for the system but would be happy to assist her in any way we could. We immediately sent a service technician out to talk to [remove member name]to see how we could help. [remove member name] home is perched high on a hill with no trees, making it a perfect target for lightning. It was apparent, and subsequently proven, that the unit had indeed been struck by lighting, something not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. However, we called Hayward Industries, manufacturer of the salt system, to see if there was any way they could cover this unit and provide warranty service. They indicated that it would be a $150 service charge and they were willing to replace the unit even though it was not covered by warranty. We ordered and received the replacement parts. Rather than have us do the repair, [remove member name] came to us and picked up these replacement parts and then proceeded to have them installed on her own. She failed to express any appreciation for our efforts to satisfy her. We felt that we had done everything possible to rectify the situation despite not being responsible for her troubles. We take the responsibility to follow up on any concerns after the job is finished very seriously. We made a good faith effort to do all we could to provide her with assistance. We hope that [remove member name] will reflect on our efforts to provide relief and will view Bright Blue Pools in its proper light, a company devoted to satisfying its clients and providing service above and beyond the call of duty.

Curtis came out to our house to provide an estimate for work on our pool. We came to an agreement and price that he would fix the pool and told me the work would be accomplished within two weeks. After two weeks I called him back and he told me how would get out to the pool within the week. Regretfully I believed he would accomplish the work. When I called him back he then told me it would be another six weeks before he could get to the work. When I asked him why he kept putting off my project, he got defensive and was quite rude depsite what I thought were completely fair questions as to why my work was delayed for 2 months. I trusted that he would accomplish the work within the timeframes agreed to. I was also very understanding that weather affects outdoor work so kept agreeing to slips to the project. I am now sorry that I did. If you need to trust somebody to work in a timely manner and keep to their word, then I highly recommend hiring another company.
Description of Work: Agreed to perform work then did not accomplish on timelines agreed to.

(Member name removed) asked us to do a $300 repair, which included, replacing some tile in his swimming pool. We informed him that we needed a couple of weeks in order to find a window of opportunity to work his small repair into our already very busy schedule. After a week and a half he called demanding that we get this done. We made it clear that we just couldn’t work him into the schedule right away. We never asked for any money upfront for his repair, we never collected a dime from (Member name removed). In fact Bright Blue Pools typically does not require a deposit before contracting a job. We want our clients to feel comfortable working with us and unlike many of our competitors, we get paid as we go, not upfront. We regret that we were not able to complete (Member name removed) pool project in a timelier manner. Scheduling in the unpredictable Florida weather can be very challenging. There are times when we have taken on more than we can chew and this has made meeting deadlines very difficult and at times stressful. It is our hope that we can deliver on our promises in an orderly way but sometimes, time and unforeseen occurrences befall us, and some things are just beyond our control. With each pool we complete we learn new lessons about meeting the needs of our customers. We hope that we can apply these lessons going forward in order to provide good service in a more prompt and professional manner in an effort to meet the high expectations of our valued clients.
