I learned about Tracy through an Angie's List Big Deal coupon. We were about to put our house on the market and I wanted to explore the home staging option. I wasn't convinced I needed help with this, thinking it was all about removing the clutter and depersonalizing the house. Tracy was terrific about educating us on the many options. She came in with a great crew of painters, handymen and electricians, and "took charge." She improved lighting, painted walls, put up prints, rearranged furniture, and generally updated our entire home. The result? Our house sold quickly and close to the asking price in a highly competitive market. The buyers, who loved the look she created, wanted to purchase it with everything "as is."
Description of Work: She improved lighting, painted walls, put up prints, rearranged furniture, and generally updated our entire home.

We had an unfortunate start. I called Tracy and left a message with her stating that I bought the $149 coupon and was excited about having her come for a consult as I will be having each of my rooms painted. I explained in the message I have a small ranch with 2 bathrooms. A week went by without hearing from her so I emailed her on the 7th day, actually it was about 10:45 pm that night. Within a minute she phoned me apologizing for the lateness of hour saying she was so busy with work she thought it only about 8:00 pm. She apologized again for not replying to my phone message the previous week saying she had been thinking about me but had a family emergency. I gave her the benefit of doubt although in reading her reviews on Angie's list I knew she had given that excuse to someone else as well. But, I am pretty easy going so that didn't bother me too much and she was quite apologetic so we made an appointment for Thursday afternoon on Feb. 7th at 2:00 p.m. Unfortunately, on Feb. 7th, after waiting until 2:30 p.m, I called her and her voice message came on. I just hung up thinking she should show up soon and I immediately got a phone call from her saying she was held up in a meeting and she asked " did I still want her to come". I asked her where she happened to be and she said she was on the road. Since I had asked a good friend to be with me for her design consult, and we were both in anticipation of her coming, I said yes, I still wanted her to come and she arrived close to 3:00 pm. When she arrived she apologized again saying "these things happen" which I immediately thought "unprofessional and probably didn't really care because it was only a $149 coupon consult"; again I gave her the benefit of doubt and my friend and I wanted to get going with the consult. Tracy was very pleasant and ready to get to work with the consult so we proceeded to go through each room while I explained that all rooms would be painted and also the ceilings and woodwork as well. I asked some questions on furniture placement which she was very helpful with and within the 2 hours (per coupon) we had enough time to decide on the colors of both bathrooms, my dining area, living room, and a color for my ceilings and woodwork. She was helpful and mindful of my likes and dislikes and before she left we sat down and she made a list of my colors with their names and code #'s. I was a bit disappointed she would not be sending me the paint color swatch cards with my choices but she said she was not able to get them easily from Benjamin Moore customer service anymore. (I had read in her reviews that customers were pleased to get them previously). She left a list of paint contractors she uses and also the name of a plasterer since we have need of repair on a few walls. All in all I was glad to have her help in paint color selection but I honestly felt after she left I probably could have made my own color choices but it would have taken me quite a bit more time in doing so. I still had to make a trip to my paint store to get the color swatch cards. I was glad to have her opinions about furniture placement and will try some of her suggestions.
Description of Work: Tracy came to my home to do a paint color consultation and help with questions on furniture placement ii my living room and den. I bought the $149 coupon from Angie's List and scheduled a two hour appointment with her as advertised.

This valued Member received great service from me, as you will read on the comments below, and she enjoyed and will use my design recommendations. As a business owner, I have a "do it now" philosophy and follow through as much as possible. I'm sorry that I called too late in the evening, but it was actually much earlier than this Valued Member indicated. That week I unfortunately had an ongoing family emergency, which thankfully is now resolved, and meetings were unpredictably running behind. I did apologize for the inconvenience, and asked if this Valued Member would like to reschedule, but she indicated she had the time to take the meeting. I then did as much hands-on design work as I could, and stayed longer than the Big Deal description to try to rectify the situation, as a tangible apology. Best Wishes to you, Member, as always!

Tracey was very helpful she first came to our apartment and then traveled to our new home and adapted the furniture colors to color themes we liked that would match the aspects of the home and our taste. She was very professional and patient and we recommend her services for anyone looking for assistance with designing their home in terms of painting .

Overall an excellent experience!
Description of Work: I purchased Tracy's service in an Angie's List special deal. I had two hours for interior decorating. I needed help picking out paint and crown molding for my entire condominium. She listened to me, provided great options, and even followed up with contractor recommendations! After the contractor finished she called to make sure I was happy with his service as well! I will use Tracy again!

The end result was a success, in that I did sell the house after just three months on the market. It was in part the renovations that I had already done, and in part Tracy's work. I liked the way the house looked at the end of the process, but I did feel that some of the work had less of a return on investment than I had wanted. The subcontractors were a bit of a mixed bag. I was very happy with the painter, Chuck, and I was also happy with one landscaper. Tracy brought in some additional landscapers who were less costly, but they had no clue what to do when Tracy left them for only a couple of hours. The handymen were also a mixed bag. Travis did a good job on a vinyl bathroom floor, but he also took a full day to finish a 6x8 space. The other handyman, Roger from Quincy, worked more quickly, but was haphazard in my opinion. I had to re-do a lot of what he did: - taking down a rusted basketball hoop, but leaving a sharp metal base just kind of bent over (I cut that out myself later) - installing doorknobs with a more modern finish, but they stuck and needed adjustment - replacing the faucet in a half bath, but leaving a leak in the supply line that made a mess in the basement below. Roger was one contractor I would not use again. The other thing I would do differently next time is to ask for the sequence of work to be clear up front. In a couple of rooms, the painters were already done, but then Tracy had the electrican change fixtures or the handymen change hardware, and it created wotk that the painters had to re-do.
Description of Work: I hired Tracy initially for a consultation, but then retained her to stage a home I was preparing to try to sell. After having a hard time trying to find a buyer for the home in 2008, I had already put a lot of work into repairs, renovating the kitchen, removing walls to open up the floorplan of the first level, installing hardwood throughout the first level, before contacting Tracy. I needed help from Tracy to upgrade bathrooms, improve landscaping for better curb appeal, stage furniture. Tracy also recommended a significant amount of interior painting (not included in the cost I listed above, since I paid that directly to the painter). She recommended swapping out all of the brass doorknobs and replacing all of the built-in lighting fixtures. Tracy managed the handymen, the landscapers and the electrician. She called in a couple of painters to quote on the job, and we selected one who managed his own work. Tracy had me move a lot of my own furniture and posessions into storage, and she selected rental furniture and brought in some of her own accent pieces to stage the home.

The Valued Member doesn't remember that I called a few home inspection services who agreed with me, that we did NOT need to do some of the work, which I advised that he NOT do. The work the Valued Member asked for cost him more money, and took longer, because he was very particular about just how he wanted it done. It was far more elaborate thatn necessary, and not even in the criteria for the inspection. The Members are in complete control of what services they would like. We advise on work, like maintenance issues that should be done to unmask the value of a home, and we also advise against work that is unnecessary, so that you save money. That is part of the value of our service. Many other Valued Members write reviews that note this. We also recommend other contractors at very low rates, and the right people at the lowest rates to save money. We more than pay for consultation and project management by lowering costs and rates, time after time.

After the visit, increasingly, I felt rather bad about my unit. This is a very old brownstone and a lot of our furnishings are valuable family antiques which I am not ready to part with. In addition to traditional style, I enjoy eclectic, off-beat, and Asian-influenced modern. I had the feeling that Tracy is more comfortable with more conventional things and homes. The one room we do get the most positive comments on is a powder room featuring 2 matte black walls, 2 antique white walls, Asian touches, white paper globe overhead light, pale green rug on white tile/dark grout floor. She immediately suggested it be painted a translucent white, etc. and felt the room did not work at all. For most of our visitors it is often singled out as having a great look. Our house is traditional with unique personal touches, but that bathroom is the room most commented on all the time. I did talk too much about what we would do if renovating, and should have just kept her on arrangement suggestions alone, so part of the blame is mine for talking and not just listening to her. We do enjoy the features of this unit - very high ceilings, crown moldings, old inside shutters, etc. - and would remove a lot of belongings if we were "staging," but for the time being we are comfortable living with what we have, and were only interested in advice in setting things up in the most advantageous manner. Tracy is knowledgeable and very personable, but I think our aesthetic values are at odds so that the outcome was less than I had hoped for.
Description of Work: Tracy Moore was here on an Angie's "Special Price" of $149 for interior design/decorating analysis. Due to difficulty with parking she arrived about 10 minutes late but left at the stated time of the scheduled 10:30-11:30 am appointment. As we are not planning on any major renovation at this time, I was most interested in making the most of, and arranging, what we have currently in the house and perhaps open to some simple suggestions for sprucing up via painting, etc. We walked throughout the unit (condo, brownstone 1st floor and garden), talking as we went and she supplied some general decorating tips (i.e. leave room corners unobstructed for more open look).

Unfortunately the services this Valued Member needed were normal maintenance that remained undone, and would be liabilities that lowered the selling price of her house. She could not afford to do it. We also suggested many other ways to improve the appearance of her home that involved moving things and furniture arrangement, that did not cost anything. I hope this Valued Member reaped the rewards of following this custom, expert advice.

We had a wonderful experience working with Tracy. She helped us plan the colors for our house. She also walked us through the process of picking colors and materials for a kitchen remodel. Tracy is competent, thoughtful and a fun partner in the design process. We used a big deal certificate for the first session, but liked her so much that we scheduled a second (follow up) session. We have not seen the colors on the wall yet, but we are confident that they will be great. We would highly recommend her based on our experience. Thanks, Tracy!

Ms. Moore arrived and was generally friendly and very professional. She walked through our house with us, listening to what we needed functionally and answered our questions adequately. We were hoping to get from her more ideas for decorating certain rooms. She said she would send us notes but has not yet done so. The deal states that we would also get a color consultation but Ms. Moore stated that we would have to set that up as an additional service. Overall, we thought we would get a little more insight from the appointment, but the info we did receive is useful.

I was very happy to help these Members by answering all of their questions, advising with furniture placement and advice on how to set up your extra bedroom nook, and moving furnishings around. We designed a complete family room, moving furniture around, and the Members were extremely pleased with it, because it was a way they had not thought of before. It was a way that felt completely different and pleasing, was cozy, and opened up the space at the same time. I answered questions about every room in the house, and that takes time. We established an agenda of what was most important to the Members when I got there, which was answering all of questions, and we had fun doing it. I checked in to make sure all concerns were answered. Designing a room involves hours of time, for furniture placement, focal point, window treatments, flooring considerations, color, texture, style, feeling, lighting, artwork, textiles, etc. We covered many but not all of those considerations. You had a great service because I am able to redesign a space in a fraction of the time that other designers use, thereby saving you hundreds of dollars. What I did was extremely hands on, so I was not able to take notes. I asked questions, we talked, moved furniture and other items, and changed it as we went. You received the immediate benefit, as so many of my clients do. It was a working meeting, more than just a consultation. Sometimes the scope of what a client needs isn't clear to him until after the meeting is over. The scope can include furniture placement in a new house, how to save money by using things you already own, choosing new pieces, designing a room that evokes the feeling she's going for, elements to achieve a well designed space, room by room, but what is harmonious with the whole house, establishing a color palette for the whole house, establishing a focal point in each room, finding textures of fabric that are pleasing, determining if rugs are needed to separate areas of a larger room, how to float furnishings in the room, bringing the secondary color up the walls to visually expand the space and give a professionally designed, and stunning look...the list can go on and on. Most of all, though, the design of a space involves the subjective interpretation of what will be the most pleasing to my wonderful clients, and for each room to accommodate his many different uses of each room, as graciously as possible. I thank this member for allowing me to improve the spaces that are there, and will contact them to offer suggestions on how to improve their space, as they suggested, room by room.

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law died unexpectedly right after our visit. We didn't plan for her death, and we also had to dismantle her house. Since it was such an unexpected event, we were also moving at the time, so it was a time of upheaval, and a time to focus on family members. I appreciated the member's patience during this time, and sensitivity to my situation, that is now in the past. I would encourage this member to call me because I remember her delight in the ideas we discussed for her family and her kitchen in particular, some window treatments of a certain color she loved, which color I still remember, that would add so much daily joy to one of the main rooms in her house, the kitchen.

She came to our home and was prepared with a color wheel and catalogues of examples of home interiors. She asked both of us about our preferences and what we didn't want. She spent time with us on each room and helped us negotiate and come to an agreement. She didnt move on to the next room till she checked in that we were both happy with the color selection and not just okay with it as a compromise. When we bought the actual paint samples we had to do minor modifications, but overall were very happy with the colors we chose

Tracy came for 2 hours the first meeting and established expectations with us. She toured the entire house and gave us many good preliminary ideas and feedback based on her first impressions. Because of that positive taste of what she could offer us, we agreed to meet again, and since met 3 or 4 other times for 2 - 3 hour sessions. We also had many phone conversations and email communications in between. We ended up staying mostly focused on the living room and kitchen/dining room. Tracy found 2 area rugs that we loved and helped us choose fabric for the window treatments. She recommended painting cabinets - a huge improvement that we never would have considered on our own - and chose the perfect paint color with us. She introduced us to a few contractors who we chose not to use because we had less expensive alternatives because of personal connections. Tracy never made us feel pressured; she was always patient and professional with us, every step of the way. She worked hard to find us great options within our limited budget. She gave us a few complimentary hours based on the fact that we had a minor setback and change of plans with one of the rugs we initially chose (which was not her fault but rather a misrepresentation of the quality of the rug online). Over the course of our experience with Tracy, not only have we been satisfied with the results in our home improvement, but we also established a personal connection with her. She even texted me when she heard I had pneumonia to ask if I needed anything! Tracy went above and beyond for us, and we would definitely use her again for a future interior design project.
Description of Work: We hired Tracy for interior design consultation, in particular we wanted help with window treatments and area rugs, accessorizing, etc. on the 3 rooms in the downstairs of our home - the dining room/kitchen, den and living room.

Ms. Moore came across as knowledgable about design however didn't come across as very focused on my project or a good business person. I was to have paid for an hour in-home staging for one room and what I recieved was her taking pictures of my home interior, we discussed a few color palets, and a general contractor that arrived 30 mins later that provided me a proposal for re-work of my living room including construction that was completely overpriced. My next meeting with her was at a carpet store and she had nothing picked out from the time she spent in my home.. We spent a lot of time "looking" then at the end of that time, un benouced to me it cost me another $75 for an hours worth of her time. At the end of the day I really did not feel like recieved what I was paying for. Very nice person, seems knowledgable in the area of home design overall, not focused on my project and I was unhappy with the lack of results. I have not heard back from her since the trip to the carpet store.... I was disappointed.
Description of Work: What I expected was a staging of one room in my home, my living room using items I had in my home. What I recieved was designer books to pick out new furniture, color samples to pick out new paint, an estimate from an overpriced contractor, and an extra hour in a carpet store result: nothing accomplished.

Hi Member, thanks for writing. It's too bad you never got back in touch with me, but I did call you two times, and never heard anything in return. According to my notes from our first call, you told me that you wanted to completely redo and update your family room, entailing replacing items, including carpet. If you show mw pictures of things you like that are different from what you have, we can't "rework" things to effect a change unless we replace things. You stated you were good with that, so we proceeded accordingly. The reason I brought a contractor along with me was for efficiency, as I was aware that you travel out of state, and wanted to make the most of our time. The contractor is a licensed and insured General Contractor who did not charge you for his time in advising you on your options as you spoke about doing a project at your home which would require changing your flooring, painting walls, and adding carpet. We consulted for your family room, downstairs bath, dining room, foyer and halls. I have all the paint colors we chose. I came at 7 am for your convenience and at your request, saw pictures of rooms you liked, picked out a palette of color for you, so you really had 4 hours of consultation for $99. We discussed all the work you were interested having done, then my contractor wrote up a long, detailed estimate so you could pick and choose what you wanted to do. I still have the notes on the carpet you liked, with the color. It turns out the contractor usually hits the medium price range. I trust him and generally never recommend the lowest bid, because you usually get what you pay for. Work takes time and attention to detail. We don't want workers to rush through and do a less than quality job. I wasn't 100% sure how my contractor would come in, but he is someone I trust and is a smart, very experienced professional contractor whom I would recommend again. Therefore you had 2 services, one from a designer and one from a contractor for a very low rate of $99 for two professionals for 2 hours. As you had to leave at 9 AM, we decided to meet again to look at carpet for your family room. As I explained to you at your house, I charge for my consulting services (that is my business and how I make my living) and we met at a carpet store to pick out your carpet. We chose carpet you liked and brought the color samples we picked out together to use as a guideline to choose the best color for your family room. You then got 2 hours of my time and devoted attention to designing your house for $75. I won't get specific, but we discussed that some elements in your room were unable to contribute to an updated look - I gave you my expert opinion on the best design ideas for the room. I had design books as a tool for you to see the latest looks. Decorating takes a lot of time and attention to detail. I feel we made a lot of progress, helped you see many of your options, and helped you avoid some design mistakes. Sounds like you just changed your mind on the project. Best of luck.

Description of Work: I asked for help figuring out how to reconfigure our living room, prior to the renovation itself. Tracy looked at our entire house and gave creative ideas and valuable advice for preparing ourselves for the renovation, and for ideas for the reconfiguration itself.

I was very pleased. I set some long term goals and had some immediate improvements. I will use this designer when I am ready to begin some larger projects. I felt she took the time, even on this small consultation, to understand what I wanted to achieve. My house looked better after the changes she suggested.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's List coupon for an in-home design consult. I was called before the visit to get my goals for the consult. Designer spent at least two hours with me giving me ideas for future projects and working with me that day moving furniture.

,What a pleasure working with Tracy from Moore Home Staging and Design. She is very knowledgable, and can recommend, suggest, approve of or disagree with colors, patterns, textures, placings, etc., and make one feel very comfortable and happy with the final decisions. Without her help it would have taken us much much longer to select the tile, carpeting, paint colors, furniture rearrangements, changes, etc. to our entire home. We would recommend using Moore Home Staging to anyone considering redecorating or updating their home.

Tracy was very professional in her attitude, she listened to my concerns and gave me solutions.
Description of Work: I really needed help deciding on colors to pain my 900 sq South Boston condo. I had been collecting color chips for years. Tracy responded promptly to my call and she graciously worked around my schedule. She was able to keep me focused on the problem. We picked out colors that are easy to live with but are not boring.

Awesome! See above for full description. After the color consultation, Tracy came back and helped me choose carpets for the two bedrooms. She will also help me with design ideas for the bathrooms, extra bedroom and living room, and french door window treatments. Tracy is fun to work with. She is knowledgeable and I look forward to working with her in the future.
Description of Work: I purchased color/design consultation through Angie's Big Deal. I recently lost my job and saw this as a perfect opportunity to refresh my condo - whether I decide to sell, rent, or stay. Definitely time to spruce up. I had been hemming and hawing over colors for months. Tracy Mullane from Moore Staging and Design arrived promptly. I gave her a tour of the condo, giving her an idea of what work I had already done (primarily the kitchen) and indicating areas I needed help with perhaps in the future. Tracy then pulled out her color samples and color wheel and we went to it room by room. She made the whole process so much fun. I had been so overwhelmed on my own with so many color choices. Tracy does have a wonderful eye for color and showed me how they would blend from room to room. She was able to identify my style - the colors are not too bright. I had already received quotes from painters. Tracey reviewed the quotes for reasonableness to ensure I was comparing apple to apples. Tracy emailed me the color choices we had made the next day. I was able to forward on to the selected painter. Tracy also offered to call the carpet cleaner I had hired through angie's list to come back to address a few stains that remained. I have put the painting on hold for the near future because I broke my leg. I will update this review once the colors are on the wall. I am confidant they will look great. Can't wait to heal and move on with the project.

I asked Tracy to help me to design layout of my guest bedroom. Although layout design is not what she usually does, Tracy did an excellent job. She was punctual, professional and very nice to deal with. Tracy accommodated my suggestions and supplemented them with her own ideas. As a result, we came up with a great layout, exactly what I was looking for.
