It's disappointing to me that i have to give this business a D rating, because i do like their proprietor, Mike Loftus. However, from beginning to end this was a really frustrating experience. I sold my house a month ago and can now reflect on the entire process. I will try to detail my experiences the best i can.
First off, i was upsold. I can't fully blame Mike for this, since i was an eager customer. However, based on our needs and our initial desire to stay in a budget of around 10k, he could have easily designed a system to fit into that level. However, he kept pushing a fully distributed system with in wall/ceiling speakers to deliver better sound more conveniently. I was tempted and ultimately convinced to exceed my budget by more than double. I take full responsibility for it, but i do feel a bit duped.
Part of the reason i felt duped was that Mike made it sound like they had installed many of these fully distributed systems using a product from Bitwise. I later found out i was one of the early Betas and they did not have alot of experience with the system. Had i been told that from the beginning, I would NEVER have opted for the system. We had lots of problems the first year. The main technician, Rod, came out to our house fairly frequently to fix the issues that had arisen. After about a year, they got it to the point where it was fairly self sufficient and we had mostly smooth sailing afterwards. However, virtually every time i called in that first year (or afterwards) about an issue, i was made to feel like i was bothering Mike. He often wouldn't get back to me until i sent a few emails or calls. The responsiveness/caring was AWFUL. After all the money i spent with them, you would think they would try to get it right and keep us happy, but that was not the case. My wife and i were always very gracious and kind to them. Yet, they couldn't be bothered. As we were getting ready to move out of the house, i called Mike to get his opinion on whether i should try to remove the components and reuse them in my new home, or whether it was better to leave the equipment for the new buyer as is. He never returned my phone calls or emails. We tried to reach out to Rod, who also ignored us. We thought they went out of business.
Interestingly, I spoke the other day to the gentleman who bought my home. He mentioned that he had reached out to Mike and spoke to him about the system (i had left him Mike's contact info and mentioned that i thought they might be out of business). Therefore, that means that Mike intentionally blew off all my calls/emails, which only exacerbated my overall negative experience.
I would most definitely NOT recommend these guys to anyone else. They were referred to me by a friend and they couldn't have been nicer during the sell in period. However, their lack of caring or responsiveness to our needs over the next two or so years led me to believe they are not highly professional and certainly not worthy of customers' business.
