These guys are some of the most trustworthy people you'll work with! we noticed a few large step cracks on the exterior of our house, started to think the worst that we had a foundation problem so called around local companies to get inspections and quotes. The first company to come out to us was ALPHA foundations, the sales man came out, took some measurements, showed us a bunch of videos and then told us we needed 12 piers and that it would cost $30,000+, we were obviously going to get a second opinion on it and I am SO glad we contacted these guys. Todd came out to us to give us a free quote and gave us his honest opinion that we didn't actually have a foundation issue (as of yet anyway) and that we didn't need any work done, and this was after we had told him what alpha had told us. We got an independent structural engineer to come out after this and do an inspection, he confirmed what Todd had said. These guys will not try to upsell you like other larger companies in the area and won't tell you to do work that isn't necessary. I'm am so glad I gave them a call and if in future I need work done I know who I will be calling! thank you Todd :)

Mine was one of the most complex and yet turned out to be the most successful project all because of TODD SHAWHAN. Out of all the quotes Todd not only gave me the best quote but spend lot of time to explain why the quote is such a large amount. Of course other wanted to do lot more with lot more money but Todd explain what is optimal and will get a life time warranty. He and Anthony had to put lot of effort just to dig deep enough and had to rent bobcat which costed them extra and had to fix my plumbing multiple times and hire a plumber which also costed them extra but never charged me anything. The best way to identify a very genuine company is when they don't ask you to pay up front 50%, all the guys who want to run away with your money will ask for money FIRST. Todd just took only $1000 to get the permit and other stuff started. Only after he started working with all his heavy equipment, they requested 50% and remaining only after everything including the FINAL INSPECTON passed, they asked me the pay the balance, mark of a genuine AWESOME company with ethics. very trustful and every time I asked TODD to get my driveway fixed or someother thing which was caused because of the work, he didn't trouble me nor argued with me , but gladly addresses the issues, all he asked for me was to give him time, thats all. And once everything is fixed, I can see the results not only exterior but also interior , I see my foundation issue is finally fixed and I am very very grateful to Todd and Southern Coast Foundation Systems INC.

Run don't walk away from this company. They installed a roof on my home 5 years ago and I've developed several leaks. When you spend a lot of money on a roof and it comes with a warranty you don't expect leaks! but if so, you expect the company to come and repair it promptly. It's been over 2 weeks and I've not had any response. This is what you dread having happen with a roofer.

SCE was very professional and provided a very competitive price for the work. Their Field Representative Jimmy visited the job site frequently and was very attentive to our needs and the completion of the job. The crews were efficient, polite and showed a genuine care and pride for their work. We are extremely pleased with the our final product and recommend SCE to anyone looking for a metal roof.

think I got !I now have painted tiles which match somewhat and I was served with a summons and complaint to appear in florida small claims court. Southern Coast said as per the contract they said they could put pink tiles on a grey roof and if you don't pay us you will pay my lawyer as per contract. The contract provides in the event of a dispute regarding payment southern company is entitled to have have legal fees paid if they win. the case was settled for $4800 which covered 2950 for the work plus attorney legal fees for southern coast.I settled because to go to trial meant wasting another day in court and paying more Southern coast legal fees if I lost. I feel that had i Known they were going to install pink tiles right in the front of my house I never would have hired them and i would have looked to match the tiles myself .
Description of Work: roof repair . Contract provided for grey tiles and they used pink mexican tiles . I read the contract it provided that they would match grey tiles if possible. The contract provided that sometimes tiles would require painting. I was not in florida when they installed tiles and they installed pink tiles and then told me the job excludes painting .. If i had been more careful i should have demanded to see tiles before installation and read the contract more carefully.. They wanted to charge more money for painting about 600? I couldn't wait and didn't trust them so I had someone else do the painting.

They came out and did the job promptly, but I misunderstood the original quote and thought more work was going to be done. When I explained my expectations to Mike, he offered to do the additional work at no cost. He seems to be a very reasonable person that wants to do the right thing to keep his customers happy.

Roofers are really very busy in South Florida so it took a while for them to come out, but once they did they did really great work. My roof was replaced about 10 years ago and the company put nails through the shingles in between the boards on my roof. Over time the nails rusted and the boards rotted and voilà I have a leak over a wall in my living room. They carefully pulled back the shingles on the first couple of feet of my roof along almost the entire length and found several bad places. They replaced only what needed to be replaced and were very good at keeping the debris picked up. They were very concerned with making sure the roof was water tight when they would go home for the day. They replaced the metal flashing and you really have to look hard to tell the difference between the old shingles and the new ones. They also fixed a couple of places on my flat roof over the front porch and laundry room. The flat roof looks great and after a little over a month now and several days of constant rain there has been no leaking at all. I would definitely recommend them, and if I have any other roof issues they will be the only ones I call.

great bid process. best bid of 4. very late starting the project: almost a month after promised. started and stopped. did not finish gutters until 6 weeks after finishing the reroof. I refused final payment until they finished gutters and they threatened legal action. bid was based on a specific gutter that they eventually said they were unable to provide.

I had quotes from 6 companies. Theirs was the most comprehensive and detailed. It was very easy to understand. - It was also the lowest, and although important it was not my deciding factor. - They advised me what to look for and made a few trips to review the plans and educate me. I had read another review within Angie's list that was totally negative. They did not hide from the review. (Very refreshing.) However after discussing with Southern Coast I leaerned their was more to the story. After several hard rains - I'm very pleased., and the noise factor for the metal roof is negligible.
Description of Work: Whole new roof was put on. - I chose a metal roof. - It was not much more than a cement tile. I had been told by others it would be much more expensive.

Terrible, the work was not completed when the SCE abandoned the project. SCE has refused to return any part of our deposit, even the excess $15,300.00 which did not apply to this job (the installation of high impact bronze tinted patio doors).
Description of Work: Please be advised that I have experienced a severe lack of cooperation from Steven Heller (the General Contractor) on our proposed and unfinished renovation to our apartment; which was damaged by a ruptured fire sprinkler head and a golf ball which damaged our apartment and our sliding glass doors on our patio. Steven Heller has not responded to any of our phone calls and/or registered letters to him with regards to the two projects which we hired him for; while representing Southern Coast Enterprises. On July 8, 2010 I signed a contract with an addendum between Mr. Heller’s company, (SCE) to repair my apartment and sliding glass patio doors; the contract was broken down into two projects. Project #1 Replace 6 Sliding Patio doors with Bronze frames and Bronze tinted Hi-Impact windows Project #2 Repair apartments which were damaged from a ruptured fire sprinkler head Steven Heller’s employees/work crew removed the patio doors, framing, sun screen shutters and proceeded with the installation of the 6 sliding patio doors. For which we advanced checks in the total amount of $31,000.00, as a deposit for both projects made payable to SCE which he represents. It was agreed that the Bronze frame and Bronze tinting windows would be installed for $17,000 maximum minus 10% which was to be paid to the public adjuster; (Triumph Consulting), (without any rights to contest as this is the maximum amount agreed to be paid by Universal Property Insurance Company; in the court ordered final appraisal award). As specified in the Addendum to the July 8, 2010 contract. On October 26, 2010 the July 8, 2010 contract was again amended to adjust the estimated total cost of the apartment repairs from $69,000.00 to $48,000.00 (minus the 10% Adjusters fee for the public adjuster Alliance Adjusting Group) as previously agreed to, and that Universal Property would have the final say in the exact payment which they would be responsible for after the court ordered appraisal. This came out to $48,000.00. (This paragraph applied to project two of the contract, repairing the apartment (not the patio doors). Upon the work stoppage by SCE and my inspection of their work the following was observed: Patios Doors frames were scratched severely in several locations on the framing. The glass installed was clear instead of the bronze color ordered. The screening outboard of the patio doors was flapping (from top to the bottom on both sides of the framing) in the wind and was not secured properly. The final finishing (enclosing of support beams and fire proofing) was never done. Final inspection by the Palm Beach County Building Department was never done. Final releases were never delivered (as requested) from SCE and the door manufacturer of the patio doors showing that the doors were paid for, nor any releases from any subcontractors were ever received. (Which I requested on several phone conversations with Skip Bennett of SCE). Therefore, after three certified letter requests, phone calls and a personal appearance to the SCE offices, Steven Heller and SCE have refused to refund my over payment. The difference between the agreed upon fee of $17,000.00 minus the 10% fee ($1,700.00) to Triumph Consulting Group (for adjustment fees to replace my sliding glass patio doors) should have been refunded. $17,000 - $1,700 = $15,300 was the final total cost which was payable to Steven Heller and SCE. The balance of $15,700.00 should have been refunded upon cancellation of our contract. However, before work started I was required by SCE to advance $31,000.00 to SCE as a deposit to begin their work. After reviewing the quality of their work (which was unacceptable) I sent a registered letter to SCE cancelling our contract with Steven Heller and SCE on January 13, 2011 and requesting a refund. Although several additional registered letter requests, phone calls and a personal visit to the SCE offices was made I have not been able to get my refund. Therefore, I am hereby requesting a full refund of my $31,000.00. I would appreciate your assistance in assisting me in obtaining my refund of $31,000.00 from Steven Heller and/or SCE.

Response from SOUTHERN COAST ENTERPRISES INC
I would like to submit a response to this less than factual accounting posted by the customer. Below is a copy of an excerpt of a letter that was sent to the customer; "While you claim you have tried continuously to receive a refund of your deposit money the fact of the matter is Southern Coast has responded to all your requests in both phone conversations and by return letter. The facts are as follows as you have been told which you seem to have some confusion on. You deposited 31000.00 dollars with Southern Coast for the completion of two portions of a contract for the restoration work on your residence from your July 17, 2009 incident. Both of the contracts were for insurance proceeds from both your insurance company and that of the condo associations. The first contract was for the replacement of your sliding glass doors in the amount of 17,000.00 dollars. This work was submitted for permits and all doors were ordered, delivered, and installed. The doors were also inspected by the building department and signed off as to the installation. The second part of the contract was for the complete demo of the drywall and kitchen amongst other areas and totaled 69000.00 with additions and deductions upon insurance proceed approvals and payments to previous adjusters and repairs. Both of the contracts were entered into on July 8, 2010. Southern Coast then went to work on compiling numerous man hours and costs in both compiling all the information required to prepare the estimates for the insurance companies. Negotiations with the insurance companies, Hiring the engineers to do drawings and calculations to prepare the project for permitting, and compilation of the all the additional information requested by the building departments for the issuance of permits for all the facets of the job scope. Southern Coast also measured and ordered the doors per the contract. On October 26, 2010 you then executed a change addendum to the contract which you negotiated with Ken Romain which was an employee of Southern Coast Enterprises Construction and Painting Division for a reduced amount of the contract from 69,000.00 to 48,000.00 and the work scope to be changed to the amount of money being approved by the insurance proceeds. Additionally you submitted a check in the amount of 30,000.00 dollars as payment towards the doors and other costs of the contract for the balance of the work. Subsequently Mr Ken Romain was released from his employment with Southern Coast Enterprises Inc. on November 3, 2010. The permits were submitted on July 15, 2010 and finally issued in October of 2010.(Due to the many changes in the work scope and the approvals of actual damages by the insurance company) The sliding glass doors were installed per contract in December of 2010 and completed and inspected by the building department. Due to a change required to the plans for the installation per existing conditions, a revision had to be submitted and was finally approved in January 2011. On January 25, 2011 you submitted a letter terminating your contracts with Southern Coast Enterprises Inc. and Southern Coast then submitted a letter back to you stating its position in regards to the balance of the funds you have requested returned to you. You then sent another letter requesting the return of your balance. I phoned you and explained that Sce has no issue in returning the balance of all funds minus all of the costs that SCE has incurred in getting the project to this point. Which you nastily replied that you do not have a contract with SCE for anything other than the sliding glass doors and that if I did not refund your money in full that you would in fact sue Sce for the return of your money which was rather confusing considering the executed contracts that SCE has for the work in which it was doing. Since SCE is also aware that the contractor in which you decided to hire was an affiliate of SCEs’ former employee Mr Ken Romain and that Ken Romain was still assisting you in the finalizing of your claim with the insurance companies on his own after his termination with SCE it was not of any surprise as to the termination.( It was not due to any issues with Southern Coast Work as claimed) The sliding glass doors were inspected by the building department and approved by Inspector Steven Rice but he would not sign them off due to the fact that you had already had your new contractor begin working in the unit without issuance of a new permit. The building Department made notations and in fact had us write them a letter concerning the fact that we were no longer the contractor of record and that we were not in fact working in the unit any longer and were only responsible for the sliding glass door installation which they inspected but would not sign on the permit due to you having had the job started without issuance of a new permit. Your new contractor did not take possession of the permit until the end of February and assumed the permit and all engineering that was previously done by us. So your claims of SCE failing to secure a release from Palm Beach County building has no meaning or merit? As for your claim that the doors are the wrong color glass is rather confusing. The contract does not state that there was to be any tinted glass as you have claimed. We would be happy to examine the windows and take care of any scratches to the frames that may have occurred during the loading and installation as previously stated and we will be happy to look at the screen issue that you are claiming as this is something new and has not been mentioned previously. The doors were paid for in full back in August of 2010. Two months prior to ever receiving any money from you. SCE will be happy to provide you with a release from the door manufacturer. Lastly SCE has no problem in returning the balance of your money owed after all cost and expenses have been subtracted and upon completion of an executed indemnity agreement signed by you as previously stated to you in a letter dated January 26, 2011. We will be happy to provide you with a complete cost accounting for your review as you were also told but refused. You seem to be confused by the fact that you in fact hired SCE to not only replace the doors but in fact to do the remaining work per the proceeds as issued by the insurance company which SCE was in fact working on and incurring costs to do so. I suggest you read the contracts in which you signed and in fact altered after the fact and prepared as addendums. In conclusion, We would like to set a meeting with you for us to examine the issues you are claiming with the doors. We would like you to try and resolve this amicably. Please contact me as to when we can schedule a time inspect the doors and resolve any outstanding issues with our work." In closing. Southern Coast Enterprises has never abandoned any project and have always been ready willing and able to try and bring a resolve to the complaints of the customer. The customer has made complaints to every single entity that there is to try and slander Southern Coast and we have responded to every one and the files have been appropriately closed. This includes the State licensing board, Building Departments and the BBB which we are an accredited member of. The fact of the matter is the customer in fact terminated the contracts with Southern Coast Enterprises because he elected to follow a terminated employee of Southern Coast. In doing so he neglected to realize that Southern Coast incurred numerous expenses in permitting, Engineering , and man hours and work completed for the contracts in which he signed and entered into. Southern Coast Enterprises has enjoyed over 19 years of business and is proud of the reputation that it has achieved. Most of our business comes from referrals from our numerous satisfied customers. We would be happy to provide you with a list of satisfied customers for you to contact. While we make it a point to try and make every customer a completely satisfied customer. There are just some people that are less than truthful and honest and just can not be satisfied. Thank you for taking the time in reading our response. Sincerely, Charles Barrett General Manager
