Conard's Appliance Service

I was at work so my daughter met him there at my home. She told me he was there a total of 15 minutes from show up to gone. He replaced 1 switch that he left the new wires exposed. Charged $120 in which my daughter wrote him a check. When I got home I ran a load of clothes, washing machine did go into rinse cycle but still didn't go into spin cycle after that. Called him back the next day and he said he would try and come by next time he was in the area. 2 weeks and 3 phone calls later he got mad at me for wanting him to come back and fix the washing machine, U explained he already received $120 for 15 minutes of work that wasn't completed. He hung up on me. This guy is a piece of crap. 100% unprofessional lazy jerk. Read other reviews and make a wise decision not to use this company.

Made some sort of adjustment, said it would work now, charged us $45 and left. Icemaker still didn't work. Called Conard numerous times, they wouldn't come back to fix problem. Very, very, unprofessional. Had to pay someone else to install new icemaker kit, which I already had on hand when Conard visited.

Refrigerator is now working

Side by side fridge and freezer compressor had stopped working. He replaced parts to see if the compressor would restart. He told us if it did he would charge only for the parts and service call and if not he would send us refrigerator shopping since cost of repairs would be over $600.00 and not worth repairing an old refrigerator. He looked and determined ours is 12 years old and they usually last 20 years. We are hoping for a few more years before having to buy new. My Mom called early in the morning and he was here at noon. He had parts needed on truck, was friendly and knowledgeable and we will definitely use his service again.

He came twice. He came the first time and said he knew what was wrong and that he would get the parts and come back. He came back and said the parts were universal and they should work. He also tried to put gasket on the refrigerator. Neither the parts nor the gasket worked. We paid him both times and now we can't get ahold of him after he said he would return to fix the work.

My side by side refrigerator freezer stopped working and the freezer side defrosted overnight. Having no cash and calling several other service places who did not accept credit cards I landed on Bob Conrad's Appliance repair. His service call is $35.00 period as he says and he takes credit cards. I explained my problem and told him refrigerator was still cold and he explained that it too would start warming up because the freezer is what makes the refrigerator side cold, too. Even tho this call was at 5:00 pm at night he said they would get here as soon as possible. Within 10 minutes of hanging up one of his service technicians was calling me to give me an estimated time of arrival which he beat by about 15. He pulled refrigerator out from the wall and discovered the compressor was not working. At that time he said it could just be the circuit board since everything is computer these days and that would be $217 for the part. He also said if he put that part in and it did not start up he'd be telling me to go buy a new refrigerator because the expense of a new compressor wasn't worth it. He went to his truck where he had parts, brought the new board in and installed it and thank God it started right up. He said it would take about 2 to 3 hours for it to get where I could put stuff back into it and it dropped ice from the ice-maker in about an hour. The total bill was $217 not $217 plus the $35 which is what I expected him to say. He was pleasant and knowledgeable as well as prompt. The part is guaranteed for a year. I had originally spoken to the owner, Bob, and he said he'd get one of his men to come and if none could he would come himself. About 30 minutes after the repairman left Bob called me to make sure someone had fixed my appliance. I was pleased that he cared enough to follow up. I would definitely use this company again. The phone number in the local phone book was New Smyrna but the bill has a Ormond Beach one with no address so he evidently covers a wide area.

I thought that since it seemed like a common problem that he'd A have the part in stock and B bring it with him, but perhaps that's not realistic. I really don't know. At any rate, I called later that week and the part still hadn't come in. I was told he'd call me when it arrived. Time passed. I got busy and never called Conrad's, but he didn't call me either. Finally, after about a month, I called back and left a message for him to call me. I waited 2 weeks and he never called back, so I called another repairman. I explained the problem, and he told me that my dryer doesn't use bearings, but *rollers*. This new repairman said he could come out to look at it, but since my dryer is about 15 yrs old, he suggested I buy a new one so I jus did. As I write this, it's been not quite 2 months since my first call to Mr. Conrad. For some reason, I didn't read previous reports before calling him, but I see I'm not the first to have a problem with him.

Rude and unprofessional. Doesn't guarantee work and not a man of his word. Major rip-off!

See above. Had to call Sears Repair.
