While visiting a dear friend in a retirement community I realized pretty quick her air conditioner was not working. She told me her son was in the air conditioning business up in New England and that she was going to try and WAIT FOR HIS VISIT IN JANUARY because she couldn't afford the repair. I called her son and told him about AMI and how they installed a new air conditioner for me in Dec. 2011 and it had been a very good experience. He gave the okay, I called AMI and approx 6 hours later It was repaired. Toni, who is the calm and reassuring voice of AMI, sent a very capable young man, Steve who knew within 15 minutes what the problem was and fixed it. He was even kind enough to speak to my friend's son long distance and explain the repair. Needless to say, we love AMI and will recommend them at every opportunity. Thanks AMI, Kathy and Mickey

This is the second time parts have been a problem with this company. The last time it was a simple fuse blown that cost me about the same and can be bought at the local hardware store for under $20. I understand that this is a practice of most AC repair companies now.

I used the coupon here at angieslist for AMI Air Conditioning to come out and check my AC. The price of the diagnostic check coupon I bought was applied to my total bill! They cleaned the condensation line on my air conditioner and repaired a leak in one of the pvc pipes. They were super nice from my first phone call to when the technician walked out the door after he'd fixed it! I absolutely recommend this company for fast, effective and friendly service!

The guy was honest and prompt. No problem with the angieslist promotion. He basically told me our a/c was toast and provided a quote. We didn't use them because we found another contractor who offered a better deal on a new unit.

We were extremely pleased, Steve checked the system thoroughly and found no issues (the prior service provider, not from Angie's list, had suggested that we needed extensive and very costly work done). Honest and Punctual and Thorough, we were only charged for the service call. Highly recommended.

My Central AC went out at 4:30 PM on a Friday in Miami Beach. Within minutes the temperature was 80 degrees inside. I located this company because they had listed that they have emergency service. (I had called the AC company that I normally use, and could only leave a message, so that meant most likely they would not call back until Monday, which is when I received the call from them). The technician immediately diagnosed the problem over the phone and said he might have the part on his truck and he could come right away, and would I like to take a chance. I said YES, and Steve was at my house in under 30 minutes--and everything was back and working within an hour. Very professional and straight forward.

AMI inspected my unit about 4 weeks after purchasing the inspection, cleaning & tune-up deal on Angieslist for $59. Was not wild about waiting at least 3 weeks but there was no issues with my unit, just needed an annual inspection. The people on the phone were professional and courteous. Jorge arrived on the schedule day in a timely manner to perform the inspection. The inspection revealed the evaporator coil was dirt and required cleaning. Cleaning the coil will improve the efficiency by 30% we were told. Jorge said the cleaning would take about 3 hours and the estimate was $431.61. We OKd the cleaning and an appointment was scheduled within a few days. Jorge cleaned the coils and we thought all was good. About a week later I came home from work and the house was warm while the AC ran continuously. I called AMI and they were able to come up the following evening. Steve arrived around 7pm and diagnosed the cause as a frozen evaporator coil. He said the AC has to be off for a few hours so the ice could melt and AMI would be back the next day. We left the AC off all night and the following day until Steve came by the next day. Steve performed a thorough diagnosis and said there was a small leak in the evaporator coil and the coil needed to be replaced. Steve did add more refrigerant for no charge. Since the AC was 5 years old he said the coil is covered by the warranty but the labor would be $400 (knocked down from $500 because AMI was the last to touch the AC unit). Had I agreed that would be $931.61 all in with AMI. I said thanks and called the company who installed the AC because I had an extended warranty that would cover the labor for defects. The AC company came out and confirmed the coil was leaking but stated the coil was most likely improperly reinstalled. So the AC company who installed the unit is going to install a new coil with no charge for labor but a $89 charge for handling by the AC coil distributor. So at the the end of the day, I wasted $431.61 on cleaning the AC coil. My lesson is to stick with the AC company who installed the unit for service and maintenance. UPDATE: Corey from AMI called me and asked about my review. He explained the issue was a bad coil and apologized for my experience. He explained there was nothing more they could have done in this situation. Maybe I was a bit harsh in my rating. Changing my rating from a D to a B based on his personal call and follow-up.

From my contact with Toni in the office to the technician, Adam, 100% professional and forthcoming. Toni kept me in the loop as to when the tech would come, was courteous and helpful. On a rare, all-day rainy day, he arrived asap, took a very short time to find the problem - not a fan motor, but a module; quoted me the price, and as it was acceptable to me, got the part and installed it. No muss, no fuss. I will have this company back if I should need further service. Thanks to all.

Purchased a deal for AC Inspection and clean up on Sunday morning. Had to call them on Monday just to find out they will not have a tech available to look at my unit for THREE TO FOUR WEEKS. The woman I spoke with was very rude ans tried to tell me I needed more than an inspection without evening looking at my unit. I am sorry I purchased this deal. Buyers beware

Showed up on time and performed the services requested; technician also resolved our heating issue and did not charge extra.

Please note, Angies list has AMI listed as serving Palm Beach County. This is NOT the case. AMI has been trying to get this removed with no success. But AMI honored the coupon. Just shows what a fantastic company this is for you Broward residents.

We scheduled a quote for new AC's via their website. Also returned phone call and confirmed. They did not show up for the appointment. Called after the appointment time and they said that we were not in their system. Our location is Lighthouse Point.

The representative was very kind and explained everything as he worked on my unit.

checked our a/c and added freon to help bandaid the problem but were fair and honest about it. We are contacting them about a a quote for a replacement unit

My husband was home for the service call. He said the service person was honest and good. My only problem was that it seemed expensive since we had already paid a fee for them to come out. Not sure how much R134 costs so I could be wrong. All in all, we were basically satisfied, but I might try someone else from Angies list next time.

Everything went well. I learned a few things and the technician was very personable. About an hour after he left, I walked by the downstairs thermostat, which is a Nest, that indicated there was no power between the unit and the thermostat. I looked up the code online and the solutions were not anything I was going to do since everything was in working condition hours before. I called the company who wanted to send someone out immediately. I asked that they contact the technician and see if he flipped a switch that I didn't see. In the mean time, I checked the breaker box and reset both switches. No luck. I started to get nervous since I didn't know the cause of the problem. A little while later, the company dispatch called and said someone would be here in 10-15 minutes. I was a little relieved. So when the second technician arrived, we discussed the problem. He walked into the unit lifted the emergency water backup switch and the unit kicked on. YAY! The last thing the first technician did was vacuum out the drain lines. The second tech said that sometimes that loosens things up in the line and causes a back flow or water which is apparently what happened. Huge relief. Although this took more of my day than I anticipated, I was really please with how quickly they responded to my situation and corrected the problem. And I learned something else. In the long run, that is all you can ask. No one is perfect and things happen, but they provided great follow up service.

Needed to replace my A/C system in my condominium, so I sought out several different quotes. Called AMI because they have a great reputation on Angie's List, and their pricing seemed to be competitive. Out of quotes from 4 different companies, I chose AMI as the successful bidder to install a Florida Heat Pump 2.5 ton 15 SEER water-source heat pump in my condo unit. AMI was very prompt and professional. A representative named Corey Mullins came out and gave me a free quote on an installation. They are a Carrier dealer, and the first two units suggested were Carrier units. My original unit had been a 3 ton unit, but Carrier did not make a 3 ton unit that would fit within the closet dimensions, so they offered a 2.5 ton Carrier unit or a 3.3 ton Carrier unit. He said he believed the 2.5 ton unit would do the job, but if I was worried, I could go with the 3.3 ton unit. In talks with AMI about different pricing alternatives, they then offered me a choice of several FHP (Florida Heat Pump) units. FHP is manufactured by Bosch, so they have a strong reputation. One thing I liked about the Mr. Mullins was his suggestion that a smaller unit was possible for my condo. No other vendor suggested this, and all simply wanted to replace exactly what was previously installed, rather than putting thought into what should really be in place. He did a scratch calculation based on the square footage of my condo, but I was only comfortable with the downsize upon doing a heat load calculation myself. I was disappointed that none of the four vendors offering quotes did a full heat load calculation, which is based on the square footage of exterior walls and windows in the home, and their orientation, along with average exterior temperature and desired internal temperature. I used several tools from the web in determining the heat load, and this site seemed to be the most comprehensive to do my own calculation: http://www.loadcalc.net/ Since installing the 2.5 ton unit, my apartment is cooled very efficiently, and I'm not blasted by super-cold air followed by longer periods of non-circulation. Once I had selected the size and efficiency level I wanted, I committed to the purchase and put half down up front. The price was $3,550 installed, including taxes and permits. The price included a new thermostat and steel braided water cables, along with a new A/C circuit breaker. As soon as the permits were granted by the city of Aventura, the installers were there right away. They buttressed the closet with a steel brace to hold the unit, and resealed the ducting that would connect the unit to the main air passages. Then they installed the new unit, and seemed very attentive to making sure the new unit was fitted properly. Once complete, they even swept up their work area. Very professional, and I would highly recommend them.

The only responsive and responsible person is Adam, who is actually called and explained the problem, and actually tried to do a good job. The receptionist Tony, very rude and looks like does not care about anything, and denied all my requests to talk to the boss, and simply was annoyed with my calls. I end up spending over $1000 and 2 weeks of my time, and had to pay for the hotel for my tenants. I had to call 100 times for a price to replace the unit.So it looked like I have to beg to take money from me. Ridiculous.

The service was really good. The company responded quickly to our needs. The service was excellent.

This is a rental property that we own and have had horrible results with several "contract" companies in the past. Adam with AMI was courteous and professional. Our tenant was very impressed with his thoroughness and willingness to teach them what to do in the future to prevent this problem from reoccurring.
