Still waiting for them to fix the leaking pipe,(it has been a week) They have been here 5 times to recharge the unit. I waited 5 hours one of the times for them to show up. The do not follow up with call backs. My unit is 7 months old !!!

In answer to the customer’s review of our service we have found the following information. Our customer experienced a problem with cooling on their system on the evening of Sunday 7/6/2014 so they called us for service and we came out the same night. It was determined that the unit was low on refrigerant. In the interest of taking care of the customer by getting them cooling for the evening we charged the unit and would return to determine the location of the leak. We returned on 7/10/14 to find the leak on the system. Once determined we set a schedule to get the proper resources together to repair the problem on 7/15/14. We did return 5 times between the initial diagnosis and the final repair. All of those visits were made to properly determine where the leak was in the system and to recharge the system so that our customer was comfortable and would not have to go without air. Our Mission is to “Exceed our customer’s expectations”. We feel that we did that by ensuring they had cooling while we organized the resources needed to finalize the repair. Two checkups a year cost me $110 and I think it's a fair price; they're not cheap but they're not unreasonable either. They're reliable and I've also felt that they've been honest in their dealings with me. They were the company that did the original installation of all the systems when the house was built and they've been maintaining it for me ever since. They've been very good with warranty issues and they've done all the work perfectly. The inspector from the County came to check both houses and he said that he has never experienced any problems with Del-Air; they do it right the first time. It's an employee-owned business so all the employees have the best of interest to make sure that they do their work properly and that they treat their customers nicely. It's one company I don't worry about.
Description of Work: We have an annual maintenance contract with Del-Air Heating and Air Conditioning Services for two houses. They replaced the air conditioning system, air handler, and outside compressor in my rental property.

First of all, this review is way overdue. My 14 year old Trane system was dead and I shopped bids from various companies. Joe Tocci from Del-Air did the most detailed survey of my home vs the other bidders. His bid was the highest but he told me he'd beat anybody. Low bid was ~$4200 for a Rheem/Ruud system. Joe came down to around $4800 for a much better Lennox system. The installers did a great job with the install. Very detailed cleanup. Had a problem afterwards. I went from a 3.5 ton to a 4 ton high efficiency. The noise at the registers was significant. They tried a few things that didn't work and ultimately came to the conclusion I needed high flow registers vs the standard builders grade registers. Del-Air didn't want to do the registers for the price another bidder offered, but Joe did the right thing. I paid that bidder's low price and Joe came out to my house on his own time and installed them. Noise problem solved. I'm very impressed with that. We haven't been living in the home, but recently moved back in. The new heat pump works great. So much better than the old Trane that couldn't quite keep up in the summer. I highly recommend Del-Air and especially Joe Tocci. He will do a detailed survey of your home and make sure you are happy.

I was very pleased with service and professionalism. I've used Del-Air for a couple of years. AC broke (fan motor would not come on) so I called and they had a technician here within 2 hours of phone call on a Sunday. Tech said fan motor was broken and needed to be replaced and until that was done he could not determine if there were any other problems. Since the system has not worked efficiently for years, especially during the summer months, I wanted to know options for full replacement. Tech called sales rep who arrived within minutes. He was a nice man and there was no sales pressure. Just laid out the facts and provided 2 quotes. He answered all questions thoroughly, did not try to up sell to more expensive product, rather quoted suitable units to meet my needs and size of home. He responded promptly to every phone call and email, even in the evening. Service techs replaced handler and built nice new platform (top) and even put molding around edges. Redid copper wiring, replaced outside unit and condenser pad to meet hurricane standards/requirements, resealed ducts etc. All done very well and AC works beautifully. Professional and honest. I had to work so my nephew was here for install. When I arrived home house was wonderfully cool but a little loud. I emailed sales rep. Same techs were replacing unit across the street the next day. He contacted them and had them come over when done to check it out. My home was unlocked by neighbor and alarm was disarmed. I allowed them unattended entry and they tightened intake grill and noise eliminated. They called when done so I could rearm security system after they locked door on their way out. As I said, professional, honest, trustworthy and job well done. *Note for Provider Review: Del-Air alone on Angie's List reflected an Oviedo address so I chose Del-Air Security because it reflects the correct address. Recommend you update record to say Del-Air Heating, Air Conditioning, Electrical, Security or correct the address for Del-Air to 531 Codisco Way, Sanford, FL 32771

Overall it went very well. It was a tough call at first because I either had to repair my 11 year old unit for ~$1,000 or buy a new one. My old system had a leak in it and wasn't working any more. Jose (technician) found the leak and showed me the cause. The previous installer (different company that has F rating with BBB not to be mentioned here) had two copper pipes touching each other and after 11 years of operation the pipes rubbed through. I had the old R-22 coolant which was all gone and very expensive to replace plus the cost of the repair itself. Dave (another technician) came to the house to give an estimate and do the repair if I chose. I had a hard decision to make and Dave laid it out for me...no pressure whatsoever and answered all my questions. I chose the new unit and Dave recommended a basic model and didn't push the high end equipment. That was all 5 pm Thursday. I asked how long I would have to wait and he told me they could be there the next day. So I went for it. Boris and Aaron showed up on time, were very professional, and polite. They answered all of my questions and I watched them throughout. What a difference in workmanship and quality compared to the previously referred to F-rated company. Boris and Aaron were meticulous and careful in their work and make the previous company look like beginners.

Total of 4 visits and 5 weeks to accomplish work. 1st visit confirmed leak but not location because leak detector broke. 2nd visit reconfirmed leak and determined coil to be cause. System under warranty so part was free but $900+ for labor! Coil had to be sourced but the service order was accidentally closed by their staff so I called a week later to check on it, found they had done nothing, got the order reopened. Another week to schedule repairman, and upon his own leak check, told us it was NOT the coil but rather a pressure sensor on the outdoor unit. Three more days to get part, another week to schedule visit. Finally 4th visit had the leak fixed...$200 labor to replace a pressure sensor. At least it wasn't $900 for the coil. At least I can say the 3rd repairman was very honest about the coil being the wrong failed part. Good for him...saved me big $$ and the right fix was made ultimately. The multiple visits, staff goofs, and long timeframe is what earned them the C rating.

Scheduled service for 2 a/c units on 10 Jan. Told they would be here afternoon. They called in the morning to update me that the tech would be here between 2 and 5. Update again when tech was about 30 min out. Jose was the tech and very professional, informative and polite. Both units serviced in about 90 minutes. Very happy with Del Air and Jose.

went reasonably well. paid my bill and heeded his advice about more work. was told to think about new a/c .this was on a Thursday night....By the following Wed night I had no air cooling...Didn't last 6 days and all the refrigerant escaped. Technician should not have put in all that refrigerant. He should have known it was a large leak along with all the other work it needed and called it a dead a/c. When the second technician came out he showed me many things that were wrong with my unit . I believe I should not have been billed the $ 622.00 and declared the A/C dead the first night on 10/31/2013..I have used Del-Air in the past ,but, with one particular tech who knew what he was doing and made better decisions.

The customer in question called us on Thursday Oct. 31st for a no cool with the unit at the subject property. Upon arrival our technician found the outdoor fan motor not working. After looking over the system he recommended the system be replaced vs. the motor due to the age and condition. The homeowner went with the motor replacement. After replacement the tech finished checking the operating system and found it low on refrigerant. He quoted $106.00 for a leak search and again recommended the system be replaced. Again the homeowner went with adding refrigerant only. The technician collected for the diagnostic, replacement motor, and the refrigerant. On Saturday Nov. 2nd [member name removed] called back to say the motor was not on right and vibrating violently and not cooling. She was upset that the technician put a generic motor and thought he put the wrong one in her system. She scheduled a visit for Thursday Nov. 7th. Upon arrival the technician was told the homeowner’s friend told her that the motor was vibrating and causing the system not to cool. The technician found the motor to be correct size, speed and HP. He also found no vibration from the motor. He did find the compressor not running. He found the system low on refrigerant again. He removed the top to check and cool the compressor and found the muffler rusted and oily. He also found the run capacitor leaking. He recommended the leaking run capacitor and rusted muffler be replaced. He also recommended a leak check again to check for any further leak locations. He notated that the evaporator coils was dirty as part of its overall condition report. He also recommended a new system based on that condition and the age of the system. The homeowner told him she had a sales appointment already scheduled and not to do any further repairs. We did not charge anything for this visit. [member name removed] has stated that we should have called her system a “dead a/c” since the first call. It is our stance that we gave her the condition and recommendations from the first visit through the last visit. Since she has replaced her system we are unfortunately unable to work with her on the price of a new system. Since we properly diagnosed her system and documented all recommendations, including system replacement from the first visit, we can not at this time offer a refund. We bought our system from Del-Air originally, and the installation crew and system were truly excellent. When we had problems with the system - just a quirk, no reflection on Del-Air - they came out quickly and replaced the failed unit. Their service people were very courteous, very professional, and left the area immaculate. We recommend them to friends and family, and will continue to do so.Two thumbs-up.

AC Unit is in a Mattmay Home new construction - Installed by Del-Air, brand new Carrier system on 04/2010 with "custom sized" only air-filter??!!. Closed on the house 06/2010. System warranted for one year parts and labor, 2 year parts and labor with Mattamy extended warranty, 5 years parts only. Within the first year the system backed up and the drain pipes were clogged near the drain exit. Drain pipe installed incorrectly which caused back up - bully Del-Air service tech. (who was artificially polite) tried to charge me over $500 to clear the line and fix the incorrectly installed drain line stating that I failed to do the "required" six month maintenance. I had to ask him to leave my house, call the builder to enforce the warranty, while he waited outside my door for over an hour! Religiously poured vinegar down the drain line every month and did yearly Del-Air maintenance on the system. 06/02/2012 - Yearly maintenance performed $79.95 05/12/2013 - Yearly maintenance performed $79.95 08/28/2013 - AC shut-off, overflow, very hot, rust from evaporator blocked drain hole, I removed 2" shards of rust from the unit, unit turns back on, call Del-Air to check the system and evaluate rust problem. Del-Air flushes rust from drain line, flush fills overflow tray with water, does not clean up after service, fingerprints and dirt on wall and trim, takes me 20 minutes to soak up the water with an automotive sponge and fill a bucket with the water! Again - the service tech is "artificially polite." I asked how could the lines clog when I just had service performed, tech told me to call office, charged me $79.95. Manager gives me a credit of $39. Tells me rust is normal and Carrier will not warranty the evaporator part until it actually bursts!! 09/12/2013 - AC shut-off, no fan, blower motor failed. Del-Air - part under warranty - $79 diagnostic fee, $208 labor. Refuses to apply $39 credit to diagnostic fee, artificially polite tech., replaces blower in under 10 minutes!! He wasted more time in his van calling his supervisor before, during, and after the blower replacement. (Filling the time by wasting it and charging me way too much!!). Mattamy is repairing an unrelated leak on an exterior wall, installed a huge heat pumping De-humidifyer in my living room, asked Del-Air tech if this could have caused the fan motor to overwork and burn out - he tells me, "Mattamy is a huge client of our's, and does millions of dollars of business with us every year, I will not make any statements that would jeopardize our relationship with them." I had to threaten not to pay if he did not make an honest note in his report that the added heat from De-humidifier caused the fan blower to work harder. In four months I have spent $450 on a three year old Carrier AC unit installed and maintained by Del-Air. I am not sure who I am more disappointed with Carrier or Del-Air.
