When the new a/c was installed last September, I spoke with Nichole about the pipe draining so close to the house. I knew that my termite pest control service would eventually "fuss" about it -- and they did. When I called AAA Modern Air about this issue on Monday, an appointment was schedule without a question or comment. Fernando arrived yesterday morning; he was originally scheduled for Tuesday but emergency calls bumped my appointment until Wednesday. (And, I understand that a house without a/c in August must take priority!) Within 15 minutes Fernando had removed the existing drain line, rerouted and installed a new drain line. He was extremely friendly and courteous and I would certainly request him again. Thank you, Fernando, and thank you AAA Modern Air.

.AAA called in advance to let me know they were on the way. Bruner Dumeny showed up promptly. He checked the operation of both the inside and outside components. He cleaned the drain system and pan below the internal unit. He also taped the foam insulation where water was condensing. He was thorough, professional and friendly at the same time. He answered all my questions and addressed all the issues I raised with him. I have always been satisfied with the technicians sent to my home by AAA. Bruner was one of the best.

I requested the first appointment in the day to fit into my schedule and, after waiting until 9am and not hearing anything, I contacted the company and they had the phone number and the address wrong. I made the appointment two weeks ago and repeated all of the contact information for clarity but still had problems. The people on the phone were very friendly and somewhat helpful but it didn't change the fact that I had to take the entire day off to be at the house for this service. I waited by the phone all morning after being told that I would be receiving service immediately after the serviceman completed the first service call. The service for me didn't begin until afternoon. The service provider was very friendly and professional. He answered questions and seemed to provide good service by checking everything needed. The areas were cleaned up before he left but it wasn't until about 4pm when work was completed. I would like to recommend them to others but the appointment setting was not very efficient and my taking the entire day off should not have been necessary.

Jed came to my place around 1pm as promised. He was very professional and friendly. I went to the unit and identified the faulty low voltage cable immediately. He also check the amperage of all the other connections. I asked him to check the coils of my inside unit and also my drip pan. He identified that my drip pan and drip line needed to be flushed out. He further conducted a total maintenance check of the unit. Jed came prepared with all his tools and supplies. He was very conversational and educational as well. He is very proud of his trade and knowledge. He also told me that he worked for the company for about 6 years and came across as a solid company ambassador. His ownership should be proud of Jed as a service professional.
Description of Work: I called the provider last night at their 24/7 emergency number and got a live person. They told me that Jed would call me Sunday morning around 9am. Jed called me at 9:05 am and I advised him that my A/C was not cooling. The outdoor unit with the compressor was not kicking on. He advised me that he would be at my home at 1pm, but would call me before, as he had another service call before mine.

larAAA "performed" my 2nd annual service under my maintenance agreement on June 4, 2015. The maintenance agreement includes ensuring the "condensate line," usually referred to as the "drain line," is clear of obstructions and has a good flow of water. Usual methods to make certain the drain line is clear include blowing the line with compressed air, utilizing chemicals, the use of a "wet vac," and even using the "garden hose" to push water through the drain line. I have had my A/C serviced regularly since AAA installed the unit around February 2010. On July 3, 2015 we noticed the ceiling in the bedroom had water stains. First, we checked the drain line outside and noticed it was totally blocked thus no water was draining. We then went into the attic --where the A/C unit is located--to discover that the air handler was "sweating" all around the unit and the ducts, which was leaking through the ceiling into the bedroom. I found the insulation in the area of the unit to be soaked and water was "pooling" in the attic. Between Friday evening and Saturday morning (the 4th of July) we spent approximately 5-6 hours in the attic trying to unclog the drain line. We tried using our wet vac, both in efforts to push air through and in efforts to suck the line clear, and even utilized compressed air to try to clear the drain line. Remember, this was less than one (1) month after the last "Preventative Maintenance" service call was "performed" by AAA. When these efforts failed, we finally decided to call AAA to have them come out on an "emergency call." We felt horrible as this was on Saturday July 4th, but we had no choice. AAA had been paid, under contract, to maintain the unit and this was a problem we could not fix. Later that afternoon Jed arrived. At first he seemed a little reluctant to accept the fact that we really had an "emergency," but once in the attic with us, he realized there was a serious problem. Even though he doubted us at first, Jed was nothing short of professional. As we were in the attic trying to clear the blockage, Jed looked over and said, "this is bad but where is the clog?" We told him all the efforts we had tried, and he could not believe we were unable to clear it up. At one point, while in the attic with us, I remarked that I could not believe the drain line had been "blown out" and thoroughly cleared on June 4th and this blockage was there. Jed agreed with us and was very apologetic we were having this problem. It took Jed putting chemicals in the line (didn't clear the problem) using the wet vac on the line outside (didn't clear the problem) attempting to blow compressed air through the line (he was shocked that this did not budge the blockage) and finally, we drug the garden hose through the house, up into the attic & shot water into the drain line. That broke the blockage clear enough that some water was flowing. Jed then took the garden hose out of the house and pushed water thru the line from the outside while I was in the attic monitoring it to make sure it didn't flood the attic. We thought we had the issue cleared and about two (2) hours after arriving, Jed was off to another service call. Jed told us he would note the issues, the extreme difficulty he had clearing the drain line--that had purportedly been "maintained" by AAA since the unit had been installed--and we could call Louis (Luis--unsure of spelling) in the office on Monday to discuss the damages and how things would be handled. We didn't call Monday as we thought AAA would certainly call us first thing. After all, we had been paying for a "Preventative Maintenance" contract for several years, AAA had installed the unit and we figured we were pretty good customers--surely they would call us....Nothing. When we finally did talk to Nicole, we told her what Jed had expressed, that he doubted the line had been cleaned out less than a month earlier. Nicole told us that Jed wasn't qualified to say whether the line had been cleaned out or not. This is their technician who they are saying is not qualified??? Based on our interaction with Jed, he is qualified and he was very professional in his dealing with us. Jed had been in the attic. Jed had done the work. Jed saw the damage thus far. Nicole was sitting in an office. On Friday, July 10th, we noticed there was water in the bedroom directly under where the A/C unit is in the attic. Further inspection revealed the wall directly beneath the unit was wet, water was under the laminate flooring, the baseboards were wet, paint was easily peeled off the wall, furniture that was sitting on the floor was wet, and the bed, WHICH WAS AGAINST THE WALL UNDER THE UNIT--AND THIS IS WHY WE NEVER SAW THE WATER BEFORE, was wet where it had been in contact with the wall. Basically, we had a disaster of bedroom, all because of a flood resulting from a blocked "condensate line." We called the insurance company, started a claim on the home owner's policy and called AAA. We left a message at AAA as no one was there and expected to hear from them the following Monday. We then pulled up the laminate, emptied the room, removed baseboards, pulled up the carpet in the closet, cut a hole in the drywall to try to help dry out the water in the wall, and set up fans in the room. And then we waited for Monday. Come Monday there was no call from AAA. In an effort to minimize the further damage, we contacted a company to come place commercial dehumidifiers and fans in the bedroom, in the adjacent bedroom that shared the same wall that was soaked, the adjacent closet and the adjacent bathroom. And still nothing from AAA. On Thursday, July 30th, we were in the process of replacing the drywall that had been soaked from water running down out of the attic. As we were preparing to do this, we again checked the drain line only to find it was draining very, very slowly. We cut the PVC inside the wall in the bedroom to attempt to clear everything out. Much to our dismay, we found the line to be almost totally BLOCKED. Again, we called AAA. It was late afternoon when the technician arrived. After explaining what had been happening, he checked the line and saw it had a severe blockage. When he asked, "what do you want me to do, it's hot up in the attic," I simply said, " I have spent over 10 HOURS up there, I know it's hot. Clear it, again." Reluctantly, he climbed into the attic after attaching his wet vac to the drain line that is cut off in the house--in the bedroom. He used the wet vac, chemicals & compressed air and finally got some of the blockage clear. He told us it would be easier to put a new drain line in than, "go up there 5 or 6 times and try to clear this one," and said he would notify the office of the continued problem. I told the tech a new line would be great, but that since a "Preventative Maintenance" contract had been paid for and this was an issue that should not have occurred, we were not going to pay. The tech said he understood and agreed this serious blockage should never have happened as the condensate line was allegedly being cleaned 2 times a year. He even said, and I paraphrase, "it depends on what the technician feels like doing when they show up. It's really hot in attics and they don't always do what they are supposed to." I told him we would call the office the next morning. Two hours later, the drain was blocked again. I bought a snake, spent 3 more hours and got it cleared. On Friday, July 31st I called AAA at 8:59am. I told Louis (Luis) who I was, why I was calling and asked to speak to Sal, the owner. I was told he wasn't in yet, but was expected. I asked for Sal to call me. At 12:07 pm, I called AAA again. I was again told Sal was not in yet. I asked if he was given the message--AAA was completely aware of our issues with the drain line--and was told he hadn't been in, so he hadn't gotten the message yet. I again asked for Sal to call me. At 2:08 pm, I called one more time. I asked if Sal was in yet. No. I asked what the resolution to our problem was going to be only to be told, "you won't talk to me so I can't help you." I told Louis I would talk to him but really wanted to talk to the owner. I expressed serious doubts about the "preventative maintenance" that had been paid for. I told him I bought a snake and spent another 3 hours but got the line cleared. The response, "we're not plumbers, we don't use snakes." Great response to a customer who fixed a problem that should never have happened. It went downhill from there. Louis became rude and was trying to control the conversation. Then, when I told him of our discussion with Jed--their tech who told us-- WHILE I WAS IN THE ATTIC WITH HIM--THAT HE doubted the work had been done based on what he was seeing--I was told that Jed denied ever saying that. I ended the conversation by telling Louis we had $12-15,000 damage, a $2,500 deductible, to have a nice weekend and asked again for Sal to call us. After all, we had AAA install the unit & paid for maintenance for the past several years. Pretty good customers. I would think the owner of AAA would want to get to the bottom of this serious issue... As of today, Tuesday August 4, 2015, we still have heard nothing from AAA or its owner. I would gladly recommend Jed, the technician, but at this point, I would steer very clear of AAA. They have our money, we have substantial damage and stress. AAA has shown no care, concern or responsibility for this condensate line--THAT THEY CLEARED OUT 2 TIMES A YEAR FOR SEVERAL YEARS, yet it was so severely blocked that technicians tried on 2 separate dates AND THEY COULDN'T CLEAR OUT THE SOLIDIFIED BLOCKAGE. Was it REALLY properly maintained the way it should have been with a client paying for a service call twice a year? It took me 3 hours with the use of a snake. And again, no response from AAA Modern Air. $2,500 deductible after paying all these years for Maintenance!
Description of Work: Tried to clear my A/C line which is covered by a maintenance contract. The contract includes 2 maintenance services per year. OVER $12,000 worth of damage. AAA replaced the drain line, they were prompt on responding, with both techs Jed and Josh, being professional, polite and a pleasure to deal with. Company installed 2 AC units at my house. 2 days after installation 1 of the units stopped working, because there was a problem with the drain overflow line. A technician was send out the next day to fix the problem. After trying a few options the unit was working but only for a day or so.I called the company again, and the next day the owner of the company and a technician came to my house again. The problem was identified and fixed. I am really impressed with the customer service and after care from this company. I have used them in the past, and will definitely use them in the future again and also recommend them to anyone who need any AC services.

Very professional. Quote matched one other quote, but that company couldn't install for a week due to some other big projects. A third company told us they would be more than $1000 higher, so we told them not to come out. AAA Modern Air sent an estimator out right away, and they were able to install within two days (possibly could have done the the next day, but weren't available). Offered extras the other quote we got did not include. Everything was clean and working properly at the end of the installation. I know 3 other people they installed who've been very happy with the work.

I was due to have my ac lines cleaned and have the whole unit checked for it's annual service. A very professional and pleasant gentleman (Tony) arrived on time, thoroughly cleaned the compressor (which no other company has ever done to my knowledge), cleaned the drain line, and checked the air handler. This service was included with a job I had done in my home; replacing all the ac duct work last November. The gentleman (Angelo) who was both supervisor and worker, was very professional, patient, and did a fabulous job. I am very pleased with the results and highly recommend their duct replacement service, too. Thank you Angelo, thank you Tony and thank you AAA Modern Air.

Junior was the service tech sent to my home. The home is a tenant occupied home and I needed a window of 30 minutes to meet the service tech. I explained this to the dispatcher and on the day of the appointment, the service tech called in advance as I had requested. Junior was excellent with his customer service skills. He was polite, enthusiastic about his work and performed his work with pride and skill. He also explained the process as he was performing his duties and offered suggestions on how to perform monthly maintenance for optimal performance. He was pleasant and showed a genuine can-do spirit. Kudos to Junior for representing the company with pride and demonstrating great people skills. I hope he will be my service tech for the next scheduled maintenance.

I called around 8:00 am. I was told that a technician would be there before 12:00 noon. I was called around 10:00 to let me know the technician was on his way. He arrived in about ten minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem and began to work immediately. It took him about an hour (I did not time him). He showed me where the problem was and what needed to be done. He recommended that we change the filter because the ones that I find in retail stores are a bit too small. I orded the custom size from the company. I have always had great service from this company. Mike is very nice, friendly and professional. He is knowledgeable and explains exactly what needs to be done and why. I definitely recommend this company and will continue to use them for future maintenance.
Description of Work: System was leaking water due to clogged drain line. System has a float switch but one of the wires was disconnected. Connected wire and tested float switch. It was operating normally. Also cleared drain line.

UPDATE: I had originally posted the review below. As soon as the review appeared the next day, the company contacted me and apologized for my bad experience. The nice lady on the phone said that they would like to send a supervisor to re-service my AC and remedy the situation, free of charge. They told me that they would like to have the opportunity to make it right for me. We scheduled it for the next day. The technician came early within the scheduled time frame after a confirmation phone call. He apologized for my bad experience. Unlike the previous technician, he was very methodical and fast, and he definitely knew what he was doing. He was very communicative and answered all my questions as he was working. It took him 2 minutes to open the sealed cover. He then immediately detected the leak, fortunately on a pipe rather than the coil (which I guess would have been hard or impossible to repair). He then emptied the Freon in the system, fixed the leak and recharged the system. Then he noticed that the back of the unit was overflowing with water because condensation has created a lot of disgusting algae. He cleaned it all up, declogged the condensation discharge pipe, glued the isolation mat back on the bottom of the unit, and finally closed it all up and resealed it. All of this took him a little more than an hour. He simply was a pro and a very nice and communicative guy. Best part of it is that he did not ask me to revisit my review or sign up for maintenance. He just did his job very competently and rapidly, made sure I was satisfied and then thanked me for giving them the chance to remedy my previous bad experience. I guess all companies (or technicians) may have a bad day. I would like to work with a company that is willing to remedy such situations no matter how rare they may be. This company did exactly that and they went above and beyond duty while doing it. Thank you very much for being an excellent contractor and standing behind your work. P.S. The lady on the phone had said that the previous technician had overcharged me about a 100 dollars by mistake and they would refund the money. When the second technician came and did his thing, I chose not to ask for that money thinking that he earned it with all he has done for me. But today I did receive a check for that amount. So essentially the company chose to take a loss to fix their mistake. This is the kind of company that I would like to work with. Once again, thank you very much. You sure have earned my future business. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Let?s start with arrival. I was given a time frame between 8am to 12 pm. At 12:05 I got a phone call saying that they were running a little late and they would be at my place within 20 minutes. The technician arrived at 12:35. He connected some gauges to the unit and said that the pressure for the coolant was low. He tried to get to the sealed part of the unit but could not take the cover off because some of the screws were covered with sealant. I felt that his work was clumsy and disorderly. Then he accessed a part by bending the side panel open. Dipped the part into a cup of hot water and said that the part that regulates the coolant into the unit is defective and needs to be changed. I asked if I am low on Freon, he said maybe. He said he?ll pump in some Freon and if I buy the maintenance deal, I?ll get 20% discount. Then I told him, that I don?t want a temporary solution, if the faulty part needs to be replaced, or if there is a leak then I need to know that. He said he?s still diagnosing. At that point I asked him why is my Freon low in the first place, do I have a leak. He said maybe. Then he put 4 pounds of Freon into the unit. Then came back with a bill with the maintenance plan included. I asked him if he is going to search for a leak. He said, that is a separate service and needs to be scheduled. I then asked him, if you believe there is a leak, shouldn?t you have told me that there is a leak before pumping Freon, because if there is indeed a leak then I?ll be in the same situation two weeks from now. He said, you are hundred percent right, I?ll look for a leak. I asked are you going to charge me for leak detection, then he said no, since I messed up I?ll do it for free. Then he found a leak and said that I have to schedule a leak fixing service. At that point I realized that I am dealing with an incompetent technician and possibly an incompetent company. I wanted to finish my business with this company as soon as possible. So I said close it up. I?ll call another company. Then he said, well I?m going to go back and revise the bill to charge you for leak detection. I said there is no way I am paying for leak detection because I asked you if you were going to charge me for it and you said no. Then he said he?ll call his boss. He went back to the car and stayed there for 45 minutes. Then came back and said his boss told him to give me a discount on the Freon and he has a new bill lower than the previous one, again maintenance plan included. I said I do not want to buy maintenance; it took him another twenty minutes to recalculate the bill. It is now 4:18. And he is finally gone. So here is the summary: The technician came late. He did repairs (i.e. add Freon) without diagnosing the real problem (i.e. the leak) or letting me know what he was doing and getting my approval for costly service. He did not answer any questions I asked during the service, or explain what he was doing. I am not an expert, I kept asking questions trying to understand what he was doing to no avail. But he did push the maintenance plan on me. He was rude. Told me he would charge me for leak detection even though he said he would do it for free because he made a mistake. And the supposed leak detection he did was only on one side of the coils. I asked him if there could be more than one leak, again no answer. Overall, it took him 4 hours to just pump 4 pounds of Freon (by the way I saw the gauge go from 20 to 18. He said he pumped two more pounds before he actually put the tank on the scale. Note that I am not saying he is lying. I am just saying that I had no idea what this guy was doing and he did not help me in anyway to understand. At some point I even had to tell him that I am the kind of guy who wants to know what is happening and him not answering my questions or telling me what he is doing is making me very uneasy). I don?t know about the company as a whole but the technician I got was definitely not the smartest of the bunch and he was not very good at what he was doing. There was no method to his work, he was slow and his actions seemed rather arbitrary. He spent about an hour and a half of the total 4 hours on his iPad looking at stuff (I don't know what, pricing maybe???) Overall, I did not feel that I was in competent hands at all. I am expecting my AC to break in the next couple of weeks and I am out $350. Naturally I do not recommend this company.
Description of Work: Was there to diagnose and fix but ended up only putting some Freon. Then told me I have a leak. UPDATE: New technician was sent upon my review here. He detected the leak, emptied the Freon in the system into a tank, fixed the leak, recharged the system with Freon, cleaned the condensation unit and declogged condensation discharge pipe.

Technician arrived ready to begin with time frame discussed and listened to my concerns and answered my questions. I appreciated the care taken and the tech using precaution as to maintain the floor clean as he was in and out of the house a couple of times. Tech was genuinely nice and showed interest to myself as the Customer. I believe he performed his duties effciently and and within reasonable time. I have another service visit under the maintenance program in 6 months where I will follow up with another review.
Description of Work: Air conditioning unit was low on Refrigerant so that was added and in addition I purchased the maintenance program which includes a visit twice a year this being the first ...had the complete PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES which had INSPECTION OF COILS, FLUSH OUT DRAIN LINE, CLEAN & CHECK CONDENSATE PUMP , Applied ALGAE TREATMENT, CALIBRATED & CHECKED THERMOSTAT, CHECK FREON PRESSURE, OIL FAN MOTORS, CHECKED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, CHECKED TEMPERATURE SPLITS, and Cleaned & CHECKED UV LIGHT.

We originally hired them on an emergency basis because our AC wasn't cooling. They made the temporary repairs but recommended replacing the entire system (which would end up costing about the same as the repairs needed). They were super fast and saved us money. We also used them to replace duct work that had been damaged by rodents. Not only did they do the required work, they saw that some other areas needed repair and they did them as well. A+

Called provided for broken AC when other provider cancelled an appointment. He wasn't sure he could fit me in that day but was very professional and helpful. He called back and was able to get someone to come within 2 hours of my call to him with no emergency service fee and for a reasonable rate. However, by then the original provider had called back and was fitting me back in the schedule, so I did not use this company, but I will call them first next time!

We've used them before. They are dependable. If my air conditioner quits in the middle of the night I can call them and they are here first thing in the morning. They are fantastic.

I spoke with Tony at AAA. After explaining the problem I was having with my a/c he said "it sounds like you have a problem with the water pressure coming into the unit". I called the building manager and got no answer so I checked my e-mail. Sure enough an e-mail from mgmt. said there was a problem with the cooling towers, please shut off your air conditioners. Tony, thank you for being so honest. Should I have a problem in the future I'll be sure to call you (especially since I called Edd Helms @7:00 a.m. and have not had a return phone call. It's now 10:30).
