Allround Builders, Inc.

The work itself went fine. Contractor was on time and performed work as stated in proposal. Upon completion we paid him on June 11, 2013. On July 17, 2013 we received NOTICE TO OWNER/NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR from the cement company advising us that unless the contractor (Allround Builders, Inc.) paid the concrete company we would be responsible for payment of the contract. Apparently Florida law states that the contractor should not be paid by the homeowner until the homeowner is sure the contractor has paid for the cement. Never having had cement work done before, we did not know about this. I have been trying for over a week to get a Final Release from Allround Builders so that no lien would be placed on our property. After being told a number of times that the paperwork was forthcoming, it was finally received today. This could have been avoided if the contractor had told us of this requirement; we would have had all the details in place and certainly would not have paid him until we knew he had paid for the cement.
