Our roof sprung a leak over the past very rainy weekend. While we tarped it temporarily, we knew we needed a professional to take a look at it. The first roofer we called took our name and number and promised a return call. We never received one, despite calling and leaving 2 more messages with a service. After waiting all day, we called Randy Rhoads of R A Rhoads Remodeling & Roofing. He answered his own phone and took our number and address. He called back as promised when he finished the job he was working on. He came right over upon confirming our address. He is very personable, friendly and professional. After assessing our roof situation, he explained the problem and solution to my husband. While it was certainly a job Randy could have handled, he knew we could save time and money by doing it ourselves. We really appreciated his advice and honesty. We would have happily paid a consultation fee for his time and effort; however Randy did not charge us a dime! You can be sure, the next time we need any roof or remodeling work, R A Rhoads Remodeling & Roofing will be the first number we call!

Went well once the weather cleared up enough

Randy was prompt in returning my call, showed up at the scheduled time and answered all my questions during the visit. He called the following day with the estimate and sent the hard copy of the estimate via email as he said he would. If the Good Lord doesn't Bless us with an overabundance of rain we look forward to his company being able to install the roof near the end of June.

Went well, no mess no one in the way took into consideration of neighbors and our dogs.

The price does not seem too bad. First the son of the owner came and did an estimate. Then the parents came back and okay-ed the estimate last September. They asked to have a few weeks since behind on the work. We never heard from them, I called and called and finally got a hold of them. I think they just forgot. They were suppose to come last weekend and did not.

I called for an estimate. I received a return phone call the same day. We set up an appointment for the same week. We were given an estimate the same day of the visit. It was very reaseonable and we decided to do the work. We were told that the work would not get started for about two weeks whch was OK with us During the week I received a call that asked if we would like to have the work done the following weekend. We did. They arrived and completed the work in about 1/2 day. While the workers were at our house we asked about the gutter. They pointed out the issue with the garage. We agreed for them to complete the work on both. They came the next weekend and completed the work. This was quick, easy, and responsibility prices.

We noticed a leak inside a window frame in our house. The leak appeared to be coming from the roof. I contacted several local roofing companies and didn't get any responses until I called R A Rhoads Remodeling & Roofing. They were prompt and provided quality service. Randy responded to my call instantly and made time to stop by and look at my roof within a couple of days. Not only did they patch the problem area, they patched the roof with sealant in several places where the flashing may cause problems in the future. The work went quick and he stayed extra time to provide valuable information regarding roof repairs and service. I definitely recommend using them.

While performing a periodic inspection in my attic of the under roof I found some darkened wood over the soffit area. I found mold growing under the edge of my metal roof in that area. I researched Angie's List and picked Rhoads based on their rating and location. They showed on time and knew exactly what the problem was and did an excellent job of repairing. This is a father/ son team who have been doing this for years and know what to do based on years of experience. Their price is reasonable since the integrity your roof is a top priority. I highly recommend these folks.

Outstanding job. He made time during a booked schedule to take care of my problem. I was especially grateful due to the fact a hurricane is headed this way. He not only fixed the roof, but resealed two exhaust pipes, and repaired a broken shingle without additional charge. I will definitely use again and would recommend to anyone.

He did an excellent job at a very fair price. He was very reasonable and I recommend him to anyone who needs remodeling work or roofing work done.

This is the first home I have ever owned and the first major project for this home. The roof was original to the home. I got multiple estimates and checked out License, and BBB info, asked around for reputation (angies list as well) and came up with not a single real negative on R. A. Rhodes roofing and remodeling. Randy and his crew are professional yet friendly and very quick I had a lot of questions because this is all new to me and they answered every last one. It has rained at least a half a dozen times since they completed the work and no signs of any issues. A big plus to me is that not only is this a local company that hires local people, but they also use local material as often as they can while still keeping things budget friendly. I cant think of enough good things to say, not only would I recommend these guys but I plan to use them again myself for up and coming projects.

I'm buying a home. The seller had a certified roof inspection that claimed the 3-tab shingle roof was 7 years old and had 25-30 years of useful life remaining. I found this a little hard to believe. Since I'm not from Florida, I hit Angie's list and went with Randy based on his reviews. Randy is a straight shooter; and, we immediately agreed the previous inspection was suspect. He did a great job of scheduling the inspection within my allotted 10 day window. His inspection was thorough and he uncovered many discrepancies that I had not noted in my cursory walk-around. At the end of the day, he identified $800 in required repairs and provided a much more realistic roof estimate of about 15 years. I highly recommend Randy and plan on utilizing him for my roofing repairs.

They were prompt, courteous and professional with coming out for an estimate and performing the work. They replaced the missing shingles, removed the dishes, patched the roofing with new shingles (where the dishes had been) and replaced the covering around one of my vents. They cleaned up after their work and placed the dishes near my trash can. Very thorough and friendly. I highly recommend them!

I called Randy with some roof issues where it was leaking and staining the 2nd floor ceiling. He came over and said that the previous installation was substandard and was leaking around the ridge vents. Workinf the hours I do he willingly came over on a Saturday and not only repaired the ridge vent but he repaired the damaged trusses and matched the paint perfectly on the ceilings. We contacted Randy Rhoades and he came out within a day or two to give us an estimate. He said he would be able to start on it in about two weeks. About two weeks later, he stopped by the house and asked if we would be home the next day so he could send a crew to our home. We were gone part of the morning, but when we got home that afternoon the two-man crew was there and halfway done with the job. They were polite and respectful right from the start. Randy came out mid-day to check on the progress and to clarify with me my desires for the gutter work. The crew cleaned up once they were done, I wrote them a check and wished them well. One thing that stuck out to me was that the crew working on my home did not smoke (or if they did, they did not do it on my property). It was a nice change from other construction crews that I've observed. Randy also followed up after a heavy rainstorm to make sure there were no issues with leaking. Now when it rains, my husband and I don't have that sick feeling in the pit of our stomachs.

I have no idea about this company's price or quality of workmanship. The owner stopped by to survey the job and said he'd get an estimate back to us in a couple of weeks. That was at least 3 weeks ago. I was going to call him but, as my husband stated, if you have to follow up with a company just for the estimate - you don't want to do business with them. A shame - with all the positive reviews on Angies List, I thought this company would be a no-brainer. Guess not....

We were happy with the quality of service. We thought we needed an entire new roof, but he said he could repair the existing roof, which saved us a bunch of money. We've experienced a bit of leaking, but he came over right away and fixed the leaking areas. We found him to be professional, and honest. We are just waiting for a big rain to test the quality of work. We are still pleased, and would be willing to use him again.

Overall, it went much better than a few other recent experiences we've had with contractors -- and we'd have R.A. Rhoads Roofing do the job again if we had it all to do over again. Overall, I'd give R.A. Rhoads Roofing something like a 9 out of 10 rating so far ( but I will update this report if any leaks appear in the future, but I have no reason to believe that they did anything other than an overall outstanding job). Good Points: I saw some other reviews stating that their prices may be a bit high, but I found their price to be lower than two of the other companies we checked with, and just a bit higher than one other. And one other company's quote was over 50% hogher! And I can't believe anyone could have do that much better of a job. Though it took more than one e-mail on occasion, overall Randy Rhoads was above average when it comes to contractor responsiveness.. If B+ was an option, I would have given that instead of a "B" rating for responsiveness. For a metal roof, it looks much better than we anticipated. Randy pressure-washed our very dirty chimney for free (at our request) before installing the new roof. He promised the job would be fully completed by Christmas, and he beat that by several days. I was particularly impressed that he and his team worked through the entire weekend before Christmas to ensure he could complete the job oin time. His crew, and his son in particular (named Randy, too) seemed very professional. Randy (the son) was surprisingly knowledgable and professional for someone so relatively young. Did a GREAT job of flashing around the chimney and the difference between the two levels of our roof. Only time will tell how good of a job it really is, but it looks like they did a really excellent job. Fixed a small bit of rot in a corner of our yard building for just $40 extra, and didn't charge anything to sort out a few little problems that he probably could have charged a bit extra to deal with. The one previous customer we were able to locate had only good things to say about the new metal roof they had installed. Not so good points (but no show-stoppers): A couple of the vent thingies that stick out of the roof now come out at a 90 degree angle to the roof line (instead of pointing vertically up as the old ones did before the roof replacement), Not a big problem, but it's just not what I was expecting. Also, the new gray rubber-looking boot thingies that go around those roof projecting vent thingies would have looked better if they were painted the same color as the roof. But, again, that's not a show-stopper at all. Their ad in the Thrifty Nickel said they accepted credit cards, but it turns out that they don't. Apparently they stopped accepting them a few months ago. There are a LOT of screws in the roof metal, and a few of them don't line up perfectly. But the overall roof looks so good compared to what we were expecting that I'm not going to complain about that too much. It took a few attempts to get Randy to let us know where several roofs using metal colors we were considering were located. Two bits of gutter downspout stuff was left attached to the house after the guttering was supposedly completely removed. Again, we absolutely would use R.A. Rhoads again. An overall excellent job. Very highly recommended.

He did fine. I had to do the cleanup but I'm pickier than construction guys are. It cost a lot. He's high but for people that absolutely have to have a roof, I would call him. We did refer him to other people after the hurricanes. He's a Southern man with rough edges but he's a construction worker. We would use him for this project but not for a new project.

I needed a roof on our vacation home so I used Angie's List to obtain some contact information for roofing contractors in the Destin/Ft. Walton area. Randy was by far the most responsive and professional contractor that I called. Most of the other contractors were the typical "I'll call you back" no shows that make dealing with contractors so frustrating. Randy showed up right on time for the job evaluation and called me promptly with a bid. We agreed to hire him and now that the job is complete we couldn't be any happier. Randy completed the job while we were not even there and did an outstanding job. His professionalism and quality of work is what sets Randy and his crew apart from the others.

My Lark storage shed was heavily damaged when a large oak tree came down after a storm. After a long delay, which was not his fault, Mr. Rhoads and his crew removed the damaged roof, siding, and trim and replaced it with material purchased from Lark to match the original material. The delay in getting the work completed was due to the unprofessional manner in which Cody Trent, a Lark Storage unit dealer in Crestview, mis-handled the material order. After many inquiries by Mr. Rhoads, and myself, to Mr. Trent about why the material that was ordered did not arrive as promised for over a month and a half (Mr. Trent stated that he couldn't get the materials from Lark because of scarcity of materials due to the storms in the area), Mr. Rhoads and I decided to go to another Lark dealer in Defuniak Springs to see if the materials could be acquired through them. Fortunately, we found that they could, and the materials arrived a week later. Mr. Rhoads completed the work on the shed the following Saturday. He also installed a solar attic fan on the roof of my home, replacing an old metal one that no longer worked. Overall, the work was done professional manner and completed to my satisfaction. It was a pleasure to work with Mr. Rhoads. I would use R A Rhoads Remodeling and Roofing again in the future. In contrast, I would not recommend Cody Trent for any kind of repair work. I suspect that Mr. Trent was dishonest with Mr. Rhoads in hopes of getting the repair job for himself.

Contacted three companies based on friend's recommendation and Angie's List. Randy Rhoades came to my elderly mother's house the very same rainy day on his way back to Crestview. After studying the roof leak, he offered to line the shingle edges with a bead of tar to prevent the wind from lifting the shingles and exposing the wood to moisture. No structural damage was detected. No shingles had been blown away. Mr. Rhoades accepted $20 in "gas" money and suggested, as we knew, that within a year the entire roof should be replaced. Approximate age of roof is 20 plus years. We are pleased with the job performed and the timely manner in which it was executed. We have asked this company to provide a written estimate for an entire roof replacement. Currently we are comparing asphalt shingles to metal roofing material. Mr. Rhoades kept my other "high and dry," and my husband could be out of town for the weekend knowing that she would remain so.

Overall it went very well. Mr. Rhoads came promptly to do the estimate, and promptly to do the actual work. He was very thorough. Following completion of the job, there was some rain later in the day and there was no leak so I knew the repair had been done correctly. Mr. Rhoads' price was fair and reasonable, so I knew he was not the kind of person who ripped off older single women. Mr. Rhoads was very amiable to deal with; he had a great sense of humor, and kept the conversation light. I would not hesitate to call him again with any type of roofing problem.
