Description of Work: The folks are salt of the earth and know what they are doing. After dealing with a nightmare of a contractor who had my 3/4" hardwood 100% cupped in less than 45 days and then waiting about 8 months for resolution, the assigned "floor guy" was going to sand/refinish and I was ready to move out lock, stock and barrell when HE realized the wood could not be stained outside the factory setting--nothing like waiting til the last minute to figure that one out. After that second fiasco, I was referred to the McIvers for help who ascertained the damage and recommended the "cure." They quickly and efficiently removed the ruined hardwood, added 1/4" of plywood to make up the difference between the original 3/4" and the new 1/2" flooring, added the necessary moisture barrier, and installed the floor - in the matter of just a few days without my having to move out. Courteous. Fast. Efficient. Experts. They know what they are doing and having been doing it for a long time. Folks you can trust to get it right and who guarantee their work. Do: Check with Angie's List.Do: Report services performed for you and for which you paid in order to "grow" the List in Tallahassee. Don't: Trust just anybody. If Angie's List doesn't have the company listed, get references but be careful with those as well because only an idiot would give you a "reference" he/she hadn't prepped. References from trusted friends are your best bet here.

The McIvers did superior work in a very timely manner. Those "A"s should really be "A+"es!! See description above.
Description of Work: Had hardwood installed in May 2010 - job totally unprofessional and then 100% of it cupped. AH, but then came time for ripping it out and installing new wood!!! McIver does not just do sanding and refinshing - at my house they had to rip out 1,400 square feet of ruined wood, install an entire layer of 1/4" plywood because all the door casing, etc., had been cut to accommate the ruined prefinished 3/4" (and I was installing 1/2" prefinished engineered wood), put down the felt, and the new wood in three days flat!! The difference between this floor and the first one is extraordinary - looks like wood was property cut and laid and not just helter-skelter with nail heads showing all over the place. This job looks PERFECT to me, and I unequivocally recommend McIver - great Southern brothers who work hard to provide for their families and take pride in their workmanship. By the way, the number on their Web listing is 850-421-8501, and Ernie's cell is 597-2386.
