Our Home is in Pieces Because of IBC Construction DJ Electrical Services of Florida and David Jimenez DO NOT USE THESE GUYS! We entered into a contract with IBC Construction on September 14, 2016 to have our kitchen and laundry rooms renovated and approximately 3,000 square feet of flooring installed. IBC Construction and DJ Electric Services operated collectively. The sales associate’s business card had both business names listed, we were instructed to allow both through our gate, and the vans that showed up on the job had DJ Electric Services of Florida listed on them. Both companies are operated by David J. Total contract price was about $115,000 and we paid IBC a total of about $77,000. At this time, five months since signing the contract, only about half of the floors have been installed and they are defective. We were told by David J, CEO of IBC, that we would have our kitchen cabinets by December 15, 2016. When we asked where they were, David J. told us that they were in the finishing stages. We called the kitchen cabinet vendor directly and we were informed that IBC had never paid them the deposit necessary to begin manufacturing the kitchen cabinets. IBC misappropriated our money and David J. continually lied to us about it. My husband went to their office in January 2017 to professionally discuss the matter with David J. and he would not even meet with him. He was asked to leave. IBC Construction has provided us with quick and consistent service if you can count cashing our checks quickly and then consistently lying to us about when supplies would be delivered and work completed. IBC Construction has actually decreased the value of our house. We wake up each day now trying to figure out how to put together the pieces of our home that IBC Construction has destroyed. Do yourself a favor and do not call IBC Construction. IBC and DJ Electrical Services of Florida are completely non-responsive to our inquiries and calls.
Description of Work: A full kitchen and laundry room remodel plus approximately 3,000 SF of flooring.

They quoted us for like $4000, probably not out of line but we just couldn't do it after spending a lot of money for the kitchen. It was just not going to happen. They were going to rip off the tiles on the shower stall floor and the side walls. They provided us with a detailed quote but it was more than we wanted to spend. The guy was professional. He gave us in writing, there was no issue with that at all. We didn't have them do the work. They gave us the quote when we asked for it. It was on time. The pricing was just higher than I wanted to go.
Description of Work: The quote was for ripping out all the tile work in the bathroom.

They had to do some tweaking because the granite was higher than the previous counter so they had to make an adjustment at the top of the windows in order to get everything to fit back again. And had they not been able to fix the whole thing, we would have been in serious sewer water. They would have had to completely redo the windows. The city of Plantation no longer allows windows such as I have and we would have been looking at thousands of dollars which would not have been good. They did a very nice job for us. The guy came out very promptly. We called the guy and he happened to be in the area and said he'd come right over and that was great because in the course of putting together new counter tops, the windows are important. The window looks right over the sink and if it isn't done properly, you have all kinds of issues. They did a really good job. They were responsive, they had the guy out here right on time and it worked beautifully. It all came together much to my astonishment. I did contact them for other work but their bid was really high and instead we opted to have the bathroom reglazed.
Description of Work: They had to take the window out so the granite people could put the granite in. They took them out and put them back in again.

They did a basic estimate to start off with which was mostly just tear-offs with a little bit of things being put back and the materials that was going to be charged separately for and which I had already purchased a bunch of. I have already purchased tiles but they would submit all the bills at the store which had things on them that were for other jobs. They keep trying to up-charge and charging me for things that are not ours. Doing the job correctly would have been of big help and actually showing up when they say they would. Not that they showed up late, they just wouldn't bother to show up at all. If the owner would be realistic like he considered the okay job we had in the shower where they had done the walls in the shower pan, it looked like ocean waves on the floor to the wall went up and down and his response to us was if it drains okay that's fine. Luckily, it pulled every where and we had the shower floor put in three times and they had to redo the framing between three and four times. They pull wall supports that approached where the wall was taken out and didn't bother to attach it to the floor. Every inspection that came through to begin with failed. They failed multiple times.
Description of Work: I used IBC Construction for general remodeling. They did the master bath, dressing area and closet in the master bedroom.

It is going horribly. They planned out the entire project without pulling the requested permits. They refused to do work that was pending approval of inspection. They offered to pay me back if the inspection failed and it did. They have continuously pulled people from our project. They are now 4 weeks late and I don't have a bathroom. I am pregnant with twins and have not been able to finish the nursery because of the construction.

Mrs. [Member name], I apologize for the inconvenience but in response to this allegation, you were demanding permits which the city did not require nor did they have a category to list under. In our business we want to please the customer to the best of our ability. And in pulling permits which were not needed, make our job slightly challenging to work around. In regards to pulling people off your job, we did because those laborers did not meet our customer service levels. We found them to be less than reputable and not a good fit to represent our company. We have now been able to hire reputable staff with etiquette and experience to provide you and many other customers the best service available.

The first guy that they sent out ruined my bathroom and the second guy took weeks to come out. They never even finished the bathroom. They removed all the wires to the alarm system in my bathroom and now I have to have the alarm company come out to reinstall the alarm. The bathroom originally was supposed to only cost 500 and it somehow got to 3000. I now have ruined furniture and no work completed. They did not clean up from the job and they left wires hanging.
Description of Work: They have 3000 of my money and only have a portion of the money and only complete a portion of the job. They had to take down half a bathroom, wallpaper and paint. They were also supposed to secure the wood deck and pressure clean it. They left my patio furniture in my yard and because of the sprinklers and the rain the patio furniture.

In response to this claim, we finished the bathroom and had it inspected twice. The alarm system was not working before, prior to our arrival and since we are not an alarm system company, we were unable to fix the wiring for her. Because you had so many issues, we textured your walls for FREE. And since the customer went out of town for 3 weeks that then prohibited our staff to complete the job in a timely manner. In regards to the patio deck, our company refused to fix it to the less than desirable specifications requested by home owner. The specifications requested by homeowner was not up to code and the deck was not repairable. IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND UNSAFE. I had my staff, FREE OF CHARGE, spending the whole day removing all patio furniture and placing it in yard. It was not SAFE to place back on patio deck. I apologize that the whole ordeal was difficult for you. It usually is when remodeling any aspect of a house.

The gentleman that came to patch the drywall was very professional. Got right to work and did a great job. I had all the supplies on site, so he was able to complete the job within the 2 hour time slot .He did such a good job that I asked to get an estimate on taking the wood off the exterior of my house and get the house painted. It took over a week to come give the estimate. When the man got here, he spent less than 5 minutes looking at the job, all of the time on his cell phone , and asked me no follow up questions. A week later I received a estimate for $5,120.00. I had someone else do the work for $2,500. They did an excellent job. I'm very sorry that they had no time for me, or interest in doing the job . I wanted to continue with a company that I could trust and do more interior work on the house in the future.I will continue looking for that company.

I get one excuse after another from this company. I bought my own paint, they told me it wouldn't work with their sprayer. I advised it would and they acknowledged i was right. They are now saying they have to pressure wash the fence and I do not want this or need this. This will ruin my flowers and plants and is not necessary. They also tried to tell me I wanted to use acrylic paint and I do not want them to. I bought a stained latex paint and enough. It seems they just do not want to do the work and try to come up with excuses not to do it.

Overall, the job went well. This was our first Big Deal purchase and we learned some lessons from this experience. The deal was $119 for $400 worth of flooring installation. The flooring installation means Labor Only to actually INSTALL the floor. The $400 is NOT used towards any materials (the laminate, the transition strips, underpinnings, and new baseboards--all of which are normal materials when installing wood laminate floors.). We purchased the laminate, strips, and underpinnings as part of the contract; our baseboards were not done as they managed to recycle and use our existing baseboards. We did have a small contract glitch over a line item cost, but it was resolved to our satisfaction. Everyone was helpful and friendly, and even the contract glitch was quickly resolved. The point to this review is: For ANY contract--be sure you are crystal clear on EVERY CONTRACT LINE ITEM so there are no issues upon completion. I would hire IBC again as they did a good job. The supervisor came by after completion to double check the work. To any Big Deal buyer--read the very fine print and contract line items before signing!

First of all, I want to remark that both parties signed the original contract on March 4, 2015 in the amount of $11,769.10 which is current, and the first check issued in the amount of $3,530.73 to start with the repairs that both agreed was based on this contract. Actually, the breakdown of payments done to IBC Construction up to $11,803.00. On March 12, 2015, I've received a second contract in the amount of $18,600.06 with a different breakdown with new charges increasing the costs in all the items. As a customer, I feel that I was not treated fairly by pushing me to pay extra costs, and being screwed by a bad contractor just looking forward to receive my money. Based on this situation, I decided to travel to personally evaluate the services provided. On Monday, March 30, I did a walk-thru with Erik and Ed and confirmed my dissatisfaction with the time frame as it took longer than agreed, and with the work performed by IBC construction to my house, as follows: 1) the installation of the rectified tiles in a large area of the living room has huge uneven areas with risk to tripping, when I asked, they blame the tiles. If those were not good they should let me know to return it back to the store; 2) the painting of the siding does not match at all with the color of the front of the house, including the siding door was left with rests of debris; 3) the wood fence was replaced only in one small panel not all as mentioned in your second quote; 4) the popcorn texture of the ceiling was not done, there is a noticeable shadow of the drywall piece repaired; 5) the cost charged for removing the cable and phone boxes is not accurate, everything was left exactly as it is now when the mitigation team cleaned the area. Also, I?ve being requested by IBC?s staff to contact COMCAST on this regard. On March, Tuesday 31, I had a meeting with IBS?s staff in your offices for almost seven hours and nobody was able to justify those unfair and unexplained extra costs. It is important to remark that none of the people that I?ve met was able to explain accurately those cost increases to me. I?m being almost forced to do partial payments based on a second contract with a series of unacceptable discrepancies in extra costs and measurements. Even worst pushing me to accept and pay an unfair contract, because I was verbally threatened for a lien against my property. I?ve contacted to IBC Construction referred by Angie?s list, as I?m a member during the last year having great experiences with their referrals. After this bad experience with your services, is not possible to understand how a company with many years of experience in the construction business can fail in an estimate for repairs to my home by almost 60 percent in comparing your two quotes that were excessively increased with inaccuracies. My situation of being out of the States makes it tough and even worst when the pictures received before and after the work performed by IBC construction does not reflect at all such extra costs. After several phone calls, I?ve received a Dropbox that actually were moved or deleted having no access to the pictures anymore, which confirms in general the unfair treatment that I have received from IBC Construction.
Description of Work: I called Angie’s List to ask for a recommendation and they matched me with the company was IBC Construction.

Your property had fire damage and at the outset of our initial visit to provide an estimate we could only see what was visible by the naked eye, we could not see nor assess the damage behind the walls. In the initial contract it was clearly noted that the price stated was ONLY for what we could see and that once we opened up the walls and assessed the additional damage, the contract would change. You not only had time to review the contract, you added your own verbiage to it and signed it. Obviously, once we opened up the walls and found additional damages the price was going to change. You were then given a new contract with an increase in pricing due to the extra work that would be needed to complete your repairs correctly. Again, we had not only discussed this with you, but we wrote it in your original contract that this was most likely going to happen. You signed the updated contract and sent it back to us. It seems you had buyers remorse after signing the new contract and from that point moving forward it has been a battle to say the least for us to not only complete the work but to get paid. Upon your visit to the States we spent over 8 hours with you in our office breaking down and explaining every step of the work that we had done and needed to do as well as all of the additional costs. It seemed as though all you were looking for was a refund rather than an understanding of what needed to be done to repair your home. In regards to your tiles, you were most certainly made aware several times that the tiles you purchased were not the best quality and that you may want to reconsider your choice. We laid the tiles perfectly as you can see by the seams, unfortunately your tiles bow a bit because of their quality. The only way to correct this would be for you to purchase new tile for us to lay. In regards to your siding, we took a sample to the store to correctly match it for you but you need to remember it may not match exactly because the old paint is weathered and needs to be painted as well. We repaired the area of the fence that was damaged by the fire and that is all we charged you for. The ceiling we are coming back out to match and paint as we promised you we would. We advised you to call Comcast as you are the homeowner and need to speak to them regarding any and all issues that relate to Comcast. I will reiterate again, we sat with you for over 8 hours in our office and explained every detail of the work that needed to be done and the breakdown of the pricing. We even went back out and remeasured and reimbursed you for any and all repairs that were not completed. We asked you to do a final walk-thru and give us a punchlist of the touch-up work needed and told you we would go back out and complete your list. In fact, we are going back out on May 20th to complete your punchlist. We have done everything promised and unfortunately we feel this review is based solely around buyers remorse rather than any "unfair treatment" of you by our company. We have gone above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and explain to you in detail all of your questions and concerns. It is unfortunate you feel the way you do but we tried the best we could to accommodate all of your requests along the way.

I am having a problem with them regarding the quality of their work. The dry wall work was badly done so they have to re-do it that is why they are still here. The painting job was amateur so they are also back here to re-paint it. I have a bi-fold accordion door in my closet that they also painted and did not turn out well too. Mr. Jimenez said they can spray paint it again. I will not recommend them. The work is not being done by professionals.

I purchased the IBC "deal" of two hours drywall work. IBC quickly reached out to me and was very efficient in getting me on their schedule. On the scheduled day the technician did arrive a bit late, however getting to my home can be a challenge and when the supervisor arrived a little while later he immediately offered to delay the "start of the clock" on the two hours as compensation. When the technician did arrive, I walked him through the project. It consisted of two parts, floating and tapping a bar area just a bit larger than a single sheet of drywall and patching some water damage along a wall by replacing the first 4-5" of drywall. This patching amounted to about 8-10 linear feet along the floor. When the supervisor arrived we walked thought the project again. The supervisor asked the technician about the tools he was using (he had already started to patch one section of the wall) then asked for the nearest home supply store. Since I had the 10" knife they were looking for, I lent them mine, along with cutters for the edge bead and a utility knife to cut the drywall. The supervisor then asked about floor protection and helped me move a table and lay down drop cloths and boards to protect the floor. They also discussed using a 20 minute mud so that they would at least be able to sand and cover the scratch coat during this visit. Before the supervisor left, we discussed the scope and it was clear to me that completing the skim coat and sanding in two hours would be a challenge, so we discussed what would happen if he went over. The supervisor also stated that he had to go way south, but would drop back by and I was to call him before the two hours were up to discuss the progress. As the two hours were up, the tech had patched about 4' along the floor and floated part of the bar area. I called the supervisor who asked me to find out how long the remainder would take. I relayed the answer of one hour and authorized them to continue. At the end of the third hour I checked on the progress and found that there was over four feet of patching that had not even been started (old drywall still in place). I asked for that to be completed and went back to work. As the fourth hour completed I noted the following: The patching was still not complete, leaving another 12-18" of broken old drywall in place In the bar area the screw holes had not been mudded The edge bead along the end of the bar had not been installed Seeing that the work requested was not being done and the work that was being done was questionable, I called the supervisor and left a message on his voice mail. He did call back about 10 minutes later, however I could not get off the call I was on, so I had to call him back. That call went to voice mail again. Rather than allow more questionable work to continue, I asked that the screw holes and edge bead be addressed while I waited for a call back. When one never came, I let the technician leave. After his departure I found a corner where the tape was run down to about 5" off the floor and then cut off, with nothing to seal in that corner. When I finally did get a call, it was four hours later and from the office staff. I expressed my concerns and sent over two pictures. Someone named David emailed back asking for more pictures and for me to call him. I sent an additional five pictures of the work and called David. David asked what the problem was because the pictures "look good" with "straight lines" and "not too much mud" When I was able to explain and point out the un-finished corner I was told "he just didn't get to it" and my question about why the technician would stop installing the drywall patch to go apply mud somewhere else was not answered. When I asked about the corner that was not taped, I received a long explanation on how it never shows because "everyone uses 6" baseboards anyway". When I pointed out that the technician had to be asked to cover the screw holes, and to install and mud the corner beads I was ignored. Based on this progress with David I decided that IBC was not a company I would want doing work in my home again. I asked for my invoice for the work done and ended the conversation. Two days later, while completing the patching, it was discovered that a section of patch was installed by wedging it in place and plastering the patch to drywall that was crumbling from water damage. No screws were uses to attach the drywall to the furring in place. In summary, great job scheduling, scary job installing, iffy supervision, and a complete whitewash of my concerns. I would have given an F for Professionalism if not for the office staff I worked with. .

I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with our services. We offered to come back out to complete the job that was not finished but you did not want to pay for any additional time beyond what you had already authorized. Unfortunately Big Deals do not always work out for everyone as often there are additional items or hours that are needed beyond what the Big Deal includes and customers do not always expect that extra expense. Thank you for choosing us and for taking the time to give us a review.

They were very responsive and professional. They asked me to send them pictures of what I needed done. They responded that unfortunately what I needed done was not something that they did. They were honest.

Scheduling was good and we were able to make arrangements for them to come out the following week. They called on the day of the appointment to say they were running about an hour late, but they quickly called back and were able to come out early. I had put a list together of what I wanted to have them do when they arrived. I made sure that I had all of the materials for the job. I had them put together a barbeque, put together a fan, change out my smoke alarms, and they installed a new thermostat. I also had them dust my high ceilings, unstick a sliding door, and complete some other small jobs. I had wanted them to replace the spring on the window. They said they wouldn’t do the work through the deal, but would come back for another visit with an additional cost. I also asked them about my garage door opener. They looked at it, but said that they don’t work with garage doors. They completed the work in about four hours. I felt that I got my monies worth. Everything was fine with clean up. They took some furniture out to the curb for me as well. Their supervisor came by after the job to follow up and ensure that all of the work was completed. He saw that the thermostat was defective. He took it off, got a new one, and replaced it. The new thermostat was a different size than the previous one. He did come back out and repair it after I reached out to him a few times. Overall, my experience with them was fine.

Great job! On time. Prompt and courteous. Clean. Very Professional.
Description of Work: Removed old door and framing and installed new custom door I purchased. The door that was removed was much larger than the one that was installed. The carpenter had to frame in and close the large opening that remained after installing the smaller door.. He closed the exterior and interior wall opening, He needed to make drywall repairs, and installed exterior sheathing on the outside.
