World Electronics was the choice of the builder, Tom Brandon Custom Homes and I had no experience locally with anyone else so I accepted the option. Overall the installation went well and they were friendly guys and responsive but let us down on a weekend when I was out of town and my wife was home alone. They dropped the ball when we needed them the most. At the time of installation they had 3 to 4 employees including Paul Chinaris the owner. The 4th employee, a woman that sometimes answered the phone may or may not have been on payroll-I have no idea. At the time the work was completed it was really down to two people: Paul and Shawn. They were very friendly and accommodated working around a demanding electrician. I ranked the quality as a and quot;Band quot; as we had several callbacks over the first year for door switches that stopped working and a motion sensor that wasn't working properly as the cover was not snapped on all the way. The MS cover may in fact have been removed and improperly replaced by a painter. They were responsive to replacing the contacts and so far we have no problems with them since. I ranked RESPONSIVENESS as a and quot;Dand quot; and PROFESSIONALISM as a and quot;Cand quot; because of an issue where we really needed them they let us down. I was on the other side of the country when an electrical thunderstorm knocked out the security system, as well as a number of other things in my house. My wife was home alone and it was crucial that we could count on a reliable security system for her. We were able to reach one of the two employees (not the owner) admittedly after hours, being about 6:00PM on a Friday evening. The security strobe was flashing and entering our passcode didn't resolve it. When had a friend/handyman remove the connection to the relay to get the strobe to stop flashing. On the same initial call we were told there would be the 800 number on the keypads to call the dispatch office to let them know we were testing the system. After searching my wife found no phone numbers on the keypads. When I called back the World Electronics technician 5 minutes later to follow-up with our status, he stopped answering his phone. We were placed in the position of my wife being home alone in a remote home (no nearby neighbors) without security for 3 nights. I was very displeased to be placed in this position and I am looking for an alternative security company that has more depth. I had no problem with World Electronics friendliness - they are great guys, but when it really came down to when we had to count on them in an urgent situation, they let us down. Follow-up 10-03-2012: We had the system modified on Aug 17, 2012 to use a cellular telephone call to the monitoring station with a land-line backup. We accidentally set off the alarm at least every 6 to 8 weeks. We noticed an big change in response time after going with the cellular system. Previously when an alarm was set off we would receive a call from the monitoring station quickly in 2 or 3 minutes. In late August it took 15 minutes which I thought was not good. Then on Sept 19, 2012 we went to the coast to watch the shuttle Endeavor fly out on the 747 but left a ladder too close to a motion sensor in the living room. In our absence our cat climbed the ladder and triggered the alarm while we were beachside. When we returned home 45 minutes later the voice command had stopped (indicating it had been going off for some time) but the exterior strobe was flashing and the keypads were ringing. I received a call 30 minutes AFTER we returned home so I would estimate the delay to be from 45 minutes to 1 hour from the time the alarm went off to the time the monitoring station called me. I called the owner on 10-02-2012 and requested we get together to discuss a different product sale as well as to go over things. Said he would get back with me same day and did not. We have found an alternative security provider with a larger staff.

They installed a security system with contacts on all doors, sliders and windows as well as a number of motion sensors. Three keypads were placed in strategic locations the house, including an attached finished garage. Initially the system was designed to call out over a landline but later (1 year) I had them install a cell phone backup in case someone were to cut the phone line.They also installed piping for a central vacuum system but we have not yet installed (at our choiice) the vacuum unit which would make it a workable system.

When the customer's house suffered a lightning strike it was one of our technicians who talked the handyman through removing the relay wire to stop the strobe light. The customer called the technician directly instead of calling our local office number which is answered 24 hours a day by our answering service. Once we were able to secure an appointment with the customer we found the phone lines damaged but the system still functioned as a local alarm. The customer did not call the office number to request an after hours service call. At the time of installation we take great care to train the end user on the use of the system. Our local service number is on the false alarm cards we issue, the refridgerator magnet we supply, and every window decal and yard sign on the premises. We take pride in our work and customer service. I am sorry the customer felt our response was subpar. I am also sorry the customer did not speak to me (the owner) directly about his displeasure with the service instead of posting it on Angie's List. The system has been repaired and we have not had any complaints.

They are very friendly as I have dealt with them on a lot of different aspect. Its a very small company but they are very friendly and very helpful.

It was wonderful. They were very friendly and they seemed very competent. They were licensed and bonded, which was good. They really seemed to know what they were doing.
Description of Work: We already had an alarm system installed, so they came and checked to make sure the sensors were working and changed out some of them.
