John, the owners / managing director visited our home measured and provided an estimate for a custom stained glass overaly. He worked with my wife to develop a design to her specifications. We worked by email to review the designs and my wife would provide the descriptions of what she liked and preferred. He would modify the designs until they reached on that she was happy with. Within month the glass was completed and he provided pictures so we could get an early view. John and his daughter installed the glass over the existing glass to produce a look that is beautiful and distinctive. The lower ratings are as a result of the cost -- this is expensive and because it is done by hand, it is not perfect. It took a bit longer than expected but John was very responsive and professional in his communications. Everyone who sees this remarks how beautiful it is and it is a something very unique in our home. Most of all my wife enjoys the light through the window while getting her privacy.

There are several companies that can replace the middle of a solid door with a panel of designer glass but very few who can actually craft the glass panel to your exact specifications. Most just show you catalogs of prefabricated panels and if you want any customization, they will pass your request on to the fabricator and if you're lucky, they will get you a quote (usually expensive) to do the custom work. John is an artist. He suggested that he construct the panel we picked from a catalog and he would make the custom changes for all three pieces (door, sidelight and transom). We got all of this done for half of the catalog price for just the door and sidelight. The transom would have cost as much as the door and sidelight if the fabricator had done it. Although SGO is a franchise, this location is family owned and run. John's experience and suggestions were invaluable to getting us a beautiful showpiece for the entrance to our home.
