Fred did a great job. He had to order the fabric I wanted and still had them done for me in a week.

I can only highly recommend Quality Upholstery. They did such a wonderful job on my furniture; I was speechless. It looks like the price was high but it really wasn't for all the work that was involved. The sofa is from 1920ish and it is a complicated piece of furniture to work on. It was in very bad shape and needed a lot of work. The chair also needed a lot of work, though it was not nearly in as bad a shape as the sofa. I called Mr. Santiago in late August 2015 and he promptly came to my house to look at the furniture I needed to have reupholstered. Mr. Santiago brought over plenty of samples, and I quickly found what I was looking for. He said that the work is complicated and it would take about 30 days. Yesterday, he promptly delivered the two pieces and even made two pillows for the sofa free of charge. Both the sofa and chair look absolutely beautiful. The transformation from the before to after look is simply astonishing. The new material is gorgeous but the furniture still maintained their vintage look. Again, I highly recommend this company for any upholstery job. Thank you again Quality Upholstery.

Took the chairs to the shop for Fred to take a look and give an estimate. Fred was thorough and described the process and products that would be used. He explained the shipping charge estimate for the fabric order and estimate for the cost of the replacement springs on the rocker. We looked at the free fabric choices, but there wasn't enough of the fabrics we liked. Fred has endless fabric sample books. That would probably be my only negative regarding the process. The choices were overwhelming to me. It was difficult to look at samples and then find out if it was a price I was comfortable with. It would've been easier if the prices were listed in the fabric sample book. Of course that may not be possible, depending on how often prices change. After making our fabric choices and reviewing foam and trim, we received a written estimate. Given the other review on Angie's List, I was very thorough going over the cost and delivery estimate with Fred. He also was very thorough letting me know what he would and wouldn't do to the wood trim on both chairs. Fred delivered the two chairs early and did beautiful work. Excellent craftsmanship! I couldn't be happier with the final product. The chairs have been restored to their original beauty. I would use Quality Upholstery again and recommend them to others. This locally owned shop definitely takes pride in their work.

I took my couch and love seat cushions to Quality Upholstery to see how much it would cost to have them recovered. They were fabric and I had taken them into a dry cleaners. After having them dry cleaned twice, you could still tell they were my Retrever's favorite spot in the house to lay so I decided to have them recovered in a fake leather, something that would not absorb his doggy body oils. The owner, Fred, told me he could do each cushion for $55.00 and to go in the other room to pick out the covering. I had brought the actual foam for the cushions and brand new batting so he did not have to use any of his materials. I wanted him to replace the old batting with the new batting I brought in. $55.00 sounded like the right price. That would make the total $330.00. A few days later he called and asked me to put down a $200 deposit. I thought that was a little steep for a deposit, but I figured I would owe less at the end. I went in and gave him a check around 11.15.2011 for $200.00. I went in once after that to get a pillow I had left. He then told me he also sold jewelry and I told him I was in the market for a particular item at the right price. He took me into his office and pulled up his jewelry website. He turned on the sales pitch how he could do this and that... It turned out he could not get me the deal he was so animated about. I honestly do not remember him telling me about my total bill. He kept going on and on about how he could get me this piece of jewelry. If he would have said there was an additional charge for the labor, I would have had the conversation of how he quoted me $55 per cushion. And I know for a fact that he NEVER said there was an additional charge for labor, ever. There were also no signs posted in his place of business stating that prices quoted did not include the additional cost of labor. Today, 12.22.2011 he called and told me the balance would be $361 and change. I told him that sounded high and he told me to check with his wife about the deposit. He asked me to bring cash today so he could, "pay his guy". After we hung up and I thought about it, I realized there was no way the balance could be $361+. I called back to speak to him and he was not there so I spoke to his wife. I relayed the information and she said she would need to call him and then call me back. When she called back she said the price was $561+ and I owed the $361+. I told her he quoted me $55 per cushion. She said they always charge that then add the cost of the material. She nor her husband EVER said there would be a cost for the labor. He said he could do the job for $55 initially and when I come to pay, the cost was severely inflated. I felt like I had been taken advantage of. I felt like it was a bait and switch deal. I NEVER would have had the cushions done at that price. I would have gone out and purchased a new couch! I told the wife they were being deceitful and what they were doing was not right. Fred, called me back and proceeded to YELL and argue with me some more. He was VERY hot headed and would not listen to my side of the story. He then got so mad he said he had to go and "I had better figure out another option, cuz that's not going to happen" after I asked for my cushions and money back. He then called me minutes later and proceeded to YELL at me more. He called me "darling" and "sweetheart" in a very condescending way. I told him I will pay him the rest of his money but what he did was not right and I was gong to report him to Angie's list and the Better Business Bureau. They still have my cushions. I am concerned about going and picking them up because his personality is so combative. I don't want to get YELLED at again. Take my advice, stay as far away from Quality Upholstery as you can!!! I feel like I was completely taken advantage of and am so unhappy with being screamed at by the owner and treated disrespectfully. I just want my cushions done at the price quoted. If there is an extra charge for labor, it should be posted in writing or at least on a receipt and explained to the customer so there is no misunderstanding. Above all, I do not want to be yelled at as a customer.

The representative arrived when he said he would. He was prompt and courteous. He measured the area for the window seat and gave me an estimate. A few days later, I called to accept the estimate. The representative made an appointment to pick up the fabric and make a template. About two weeks later, the representative called to deliver the cushions. The representative was always on time and always polite and professional.
