Wayne Stafford, the owner, first came to our home on Jan. 13th, 2015 to diagnose a problem with our Generac 12 KW generator, which was starting up and promptly dying. He charged us $125 for the visit and told us the problem was two bad parts- the control board and voltage regulator. He told us we had to pay for the parts in advance and, when he got them in, he would come back to install them. I was uncomfortable with this arrangement but did so. My mistake. He came back today, installed the parts, and told us that this didn't fix the generator. He now determined that it needed a new stater, which would be an additional $1200.00 plus considerable labor. In addition, he told us for the first time that the wiring and installation of the generator didn't meet code, and he wouldn't do the work without bringing it up to code at considerable expense. Needless to say, we declined. He agreed to reimburse us for the parts, but charged us $285.00 labor for today's failed repair. He promised to send us a check for the difference between what we paid for the parts and the labor. As such, we will have paid over $500.00 in labor for nothing (more if he never sends us the $185.00 difference). When we told him we were very unhappy with this, he argued that he was "out" the time and travel expenses. I explained that that's a cost of doing business when you don't provide the customer with any value. He said he would see what he could do after talking to his wife. I seriously doubt we will ever get any refund whatsoever.

I originally needed a power source problem for my dishwasher diagnosed, but while the electrician was there I had him label my fuse box; labeling each breaker. He showed up at the appointed time and was professional in his appearance and demeanor. Overall they did a great job and I would use them again.
Description of Work: The dishwasher power source was an easy fix and labeling the fuse box was done efficiently.

1. Seemed unsure about the simple request to help us identify what each switch and plug operated and wasted most of the time doing this and writing simple labels. I have never seern such slow work. 2. Later discovered that a couple of outlets he had labeled were not in fact operational 3. He did complete the hook-up of the dishwasher but my husband had to do the heavy moving of the dishwasher back into place because this guy did not do it nor did he offer to help. 4. He prepared a very expensive estimate to get a light in the master bedroom closet, even though there was wiring right next to it. He spent over four hours in my home doing something that in my judgement from other work done in other homes should have taken far less time.

Serviceman quickly identified the problem and repaired the short. In addition, serviceman inspected all electrical outlets and smoke detectors, found several small issues and repaired. I was highly impressed by the service level and am contacting Mr. Electric again to repair a new electrical issue caused by the recent storms.
