WASTE SERVICES OF FLORIDA/BFI

I telephoned them (call #1) and ordered curbside recycling service on Feb 21, 2012. I agreed to pay $33 on my credit card for an annual contract, and they said (both in print and on the phone) that I would receive two blue recycling bins in 7-10 business days. Two weeks later, I called back (call #2), not having received any bins, and they stated that the bins would be delivered in a day or two. A few days later, I called back (call #3) and said I had not received the bins. They said they were back-logged and I would receive the bins in just a couple days. A week later, I called back (call #4), they apologized again, and said I would have them the next or the day after. Six days later, I called back (cal l#5) to cancel the service. I was transferred to the wrong person, who then sent me to voice-mail. I called back (call #6) and got someone who said she would cancel my account, and I should receive a paper refund check in 6-8 weeks (which would be 3 months after initiating my order with them). To be fair, they did say I could use my own cardboard boxes, clearly mark them "RECYCLE," and they would pick them up. But this was not what I paid for. This local company's inability to simply deliver two blue plastic bins to my home within 30 calendar days cost them my business. I am disappointed, as I wanted the convenience of curbside recycling. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and waited 9 full weeks for a refund check, before filing a disputed charge with my credit card company, and contacting both the City and State Consumer Affairs Department. If I don't get my $33 back, I will take WSI to small claims court. Stay away from this vendor at all costs!! UPDATE: After waiting 12 weeks for a refund check, I finally called this company back (call #7) and got a pleasant woman who apologized profusely. After looking into the matter and calling me back, she promised that they would refund the billed amount onto my credit card, either that day (Wednesday) or the next day, at the latest. By Friday, the credit had still not appeared on my card. So once again, they promised something, but did not deliver. UPDATE #2: Partially as promised, this company issued a refund to my credit card; it just took four days to show up. Unfortunately they ONCE AGAIN ERRED, and the amount of the refund was less than I originally paid <sigh>. At this point, four months after initial contact with them, we're done. Although I am keeping the cerdit card dispute open, simply because I can, and they did not refund 100% of what they charged. UPDATE #3: My credit card company eventually refunded me about 90% of the difference between the refund that WSI credited back to ($30.30) me and the orginal amount they charged me ($33.00). I have closed the dispute with the credit card issuer, and the matter is now completely over. But, in an ironic side note, the City of St. Petersburg has dropped WSI as its curbside recycling vendor (as of 10/1/12), and now contracts with another service. Guess I wasn't the only resident who had problems with them....

EXCELLENT - THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THEM IS IF A HOLIDAY FALLS ON TUESDAY OR FRIDAY, WHICH ARE OUR PICKUP DAYS, THEY WON'T PICK UP THE NEXT DAY - YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PICKUP DAY - & I DON'T THINK THAT'S RIGHT. THE CITY OF ST. PETERSBURG PICKS UP THE NEXT DAY, SO WHY SHOULDN'T THEY? BUT OVERALL THEY'RE VERY GOOD.

THE EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIBLE, PROBABLY THE LEAST SATISFIED I HAVE EVER BEEN WITH A SERVICE. UPON BUYING OUR HOUSE, WE SIGNED ON FOR SERVICE AFTER OUR REALTOR GAVE US THE COMPANY'S NAME. AFTER PUTTING OUT OUR TRASH - AND FOLLOWING ALL DIRECTIONS - FOR A WEEK WITH NO PICK-UP, I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY SAID THINGS WOULD BE PICKED UP THE NEXT WEEK. AFTER NOTHING WAS COLLECTED THE FOLLOWING WEEK, MY WIFE CALLED THEM BACK AND WAS MET BY VERY SARCASTIC ANSWERS AS TO WHY OUR GARBAGE WASN'T PICKED UP. THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND OUT A DISPATCH TO COLLECT OUR TRASH. NOTHING HAPPENED. THE NEXT WEEK, OUR TRASH WAS LEFT ON THE CURB AGAIN. MY WIFE CALLED A SECOND TIME, A DISPATCH WAS SUPPOSEDLY SENT BUT AGAIN, NOTHING. FINALLY, AFTER ANOTHER WEEK OF NO SERVICE, I CALLED AND CANCELED. WE HAVE SINCE SIGNED ON WITH ANOTHER COMPANY WHO HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY OF OUR $85 BACK, EVEN THOUGH WE GOT NO SERVICE & WERE ONLY ONE MONTH INTO THE THREE MONTHS WE PURCHASED.

THE PRICE IS FOR 3 MONTHS. THEY HAVE BEEN GOOD ABOUT PICKING UP ANY DEBRIS FROM THE YARD.
