As part of an egress window installation project at my home, Jeremy was hired to pour the egress window well. Before I left for work I checked in with him and his worker about the project, gave them my cell phone number, and paid someone that appeared to be someone's girlfriend (she was clearly not there to pour concrete). Because of a partial cave in of one of the sides during the excavation, I pointed out that he could use some of my scrap plywood to shore up the back of the wall (if he didn't have enough) and gave him permission to cut back the concrete in the area if he needed to get better access. He asked some clarifying questions about other aspects of the job (like desired height of the rim of the well), but seemed satisfied he had what he needed from me. After I left, Jeremy called my cell phone and asked another question about moving one of the walls outward to the foundation (to act as the backer for one of the walls), which I willing agree to. He again seemed satisfied that he had the information that he needed. When I returned home at the end of the day, I found a mess. The wall was warped, the surface finish was rough and uneven, the rim was wavy and obviously different thicknesses. Part of the cement where the previous cave in had occurred was busted out reveling that the insulation he used as a backer snapped and caused the pour to bulge (risking frost heave). It appears that he attempted to compensate for the added volume using bags of cement, because part of the pour is a different color in the area of the problem. I was very unimpressed and awaited a call from Jeremy to explain what had happened...none came. I let the weekend pass as I tried to figure out what I wanted Jeremy to do to correct the problem. After consulting with the inspector, a contractor friend, and doing some frost heave research, I decided that it was worse to try to start over (it risked causing foundation damage to my home and the need for a much larger excavation). I contacted Jeremy to voice my disappointment in his work and asked that he return to perform what was about a $100 fix to eliminate the risk of frost heave (Cut back the cement in the area of the bulge, fill the void with pea gravel, then re-pour the ~5ft² of driveway in the area to keep water out). What I got in response was finger pointing, blame, and excuses, not what I would expect from a professional. Even if all the accusations and excuses Jeremy made were accurate, he never once commented about them when he had the chance before starting the job. He failed to step up to explain the pour job after he was done. He failed to say he was sorry for the way the pour turned out. And he failed to step up when a reasonable fix was proposed. The only reason I can't give Jeremy and Visionscapes a "F" is because I have a window well, albeit an extremely ugly well.

1. Our new driveway has thirty five 10 ft by 10 ft squares. 6 squares (or approximately 20%) have significant diagonal cracking within the first year. 2. We also installed a sidewalk with 3 steps to the front door. There are cracks at the base of two out of three steps. 3. Our house has steel siding. There was so much heaving of the driveway that the trim around the garage doors was permanently damaged. 4. Instead of the standard concrete depth of 4 inches, we used 5 inches because it was recommended by Jeremy that it would make the driveway even sturdier. However, when the concrete was poured, the required quantity needed was miscalculated so more concrete had to be delivered. As a result, there is a dark area around the square where the last cement was poured. Jeremy promised us it would go away quickly. It is still very visible. 5. I tried calling Jeremy in March and he was in Florida for the winter but was returning April 20th. He asked me to be patient and would call me shortly after he returned. He stated to me that we paid a lot of money for the driveway and deserved to have a nice one. He also said, if it was 6 years and it cracked, that would not be unusual but it should not crack within the first year. Since June 1st, I?ve tried contacting him numerous times and he never answered his phone. On June 14th through June 30, I called him 6 times and left multiple voice messages with a request to return my call. He has not responded to my requests. The company fails to meet customer satisfaction and I have been extremely disappointed with Visionscapes performance. 6. I contacted our Assistant City Engineer and explained what had happened with our driveway. I asked if this could be expected given the type of soil and environment we live in. He stated that there shouldn?t be cracks within the first two years. When the city is having concrete work done, if there is cracking within the first two years, they require the contractor to come back and repair it. He suggested that I call my contractor. I explained that I have been trying but he will not return my calls. 7. I sent a certified letter to Jeremy Hanson listing all of this information and stated that if he didn?t contact me by July 22nd, 2011 , I would send this review to Angie?s List. He signed for the letter on July 13th . I have not received a phone call.
Description of Work: Please note: The phone number listed for this company in Angie's List is incorrect by one digit. His number is 612-246-2301. He also has a Blaine Minnnesota address as well as a Florida address. We had a driveway installed in June 2010 by Jeremy Hanson, owner of Visionscapes. He was very pleasant to work with. However, by February 2011, we found problems with our driveway.

They did a really good job. We thought that the concrete driveway looked better than the asphalt one. The price was just $4400 for the entire work. We knew that asphalt was probably going to cost us around $3000, and the other concrete prices that we were getting were about $8000 and more. We really trusted everything that they said - he was using a lot of the same material and a lot of stuff that I don?t really know anything about. To get a concrete driveway that was close to half the price of what the other providers were quoting was phenomenal, and that?s why we chose to do concrete. I would rate them highly.
Description of Work: We used Visionscapes to tear out the asphalt, put in a concrete driveway, expand the concrete driveway by 2 ft. as compared to where the asphalt driveway was, and redo part of the sidewalk going up from the driveway to the house.
