I highly recommend Rocks Moving without hesitation for your next move! The movers were prompt and extremely cordial and efficient. The move day was a brutally hot (even for Florida) and it did not seem to slow these guys down. The movers took great care of our belongings as we moved several sentimental and antique items. Also, after getting quotes from several other moving companies, the Rocks Moving quote was significantly lower :) Rocks Moving Company has integrity, not something to take lightly in an industry known for shady companies and outright rip-offs. I will definitely use Rocks for our next move!

They were excellent and exceptional across the board. The estimate was delivered in a professional manner and the favorable experience continued until the truck left my residence. The moving team was clean cut, polite, personable and focused throughout the moving process. I would highly recommend this company for all your moving needs.

They were very precise on the cost. When they showed up, they were polite, cordial and didn?t mess around on the job. My only issue is that I had exercise equipment that I was having moved by exercise equipment professionals and I had asked them not to disturb the equipment, unfortunately that fell on deaf ears. They also weren?t accurate on the size of the storage unit that I should rent, so we fell short. However, they took the remainder of our household goods that would not fit back to Clearwater and stored them in a wooden bin at no cost to us. They are going to deliver those items back to us when the moving van comes also for no additional fee. This shows me that they have integrity and do their best to rectify their mistakes. The quality of the work was great and I haven?t seen any damage to the furniture. I will use them again in the future. ****Update-- 10/19/13**** We feel like we were completely fooled by Rocks once we started to unpack our items. We have discovered many things that are broken and many things that were pack hap-hazardly. We have a beautiful vase that was broken, there were light items that were packed on the bottom of boxes. We were so disappointed with our experience, this was awful. We lost lamp shades, dishes, among numerous other things. I just don't understand what they were doing! Some of the china was packed beautifully, but them some of our china literally was laid on a piece of paper. When we called Rocks to let them know about all our broken items, I spoke with a lady manager. She had a very unemotioal response. There was no, "Oh no! I am so sorry that happened." Nothing like that. She said that the claims are handled as your contract states. Which to let you know, they pay $0.60 per pound for items broken! So a broken lamp shade would have been about $0.80.

These guys are great!!! Was recommended to me and I would recommend them without thought. They ran to the truck to get the next load, heck I just stayed out of their way because they were moving much faster than I was. And they were personable and very friendly. One guy didn't talk much but not everyone is a talker he just worked. My boyfriend asked me "where did you get these guys?" he was so impressed with them. I saw a bad review in this list and I really don't believe it - there was only courteous professional service. I realize they moved me a while ago but I just joined and I had been so impressed with this moving company I knew I had to highly recommend them. By the way I had another company, Advantage Movers, lined up to move me and they basically shoved me to a different time slot to I guess accommodate someone else. ACK I called Rock Movers and the took very good care of me with just 3 days notice. I was very upset and the lady I spoke with made me feel like my mom was helping me!!!

HORRIBLE!!! THEY STOLE 2 ARABIAN LAMPS AND BROKE A PRICELESS VASE AND TWO JAPANESE SILK SCREENS.
Description of Work: We requested three times for the company to come and pre-pack and make sure everything will fit on the truck, they refused. When they arrived the checked our count and told us repeatedly for 4 hours that everything would fit. When the driver realized everything would not fit, he became enraged and started taking things our of wardrobe boxes and shoving them in the truck. When he got to two Arabian Brass Lamps given by a Saudi Prince I instructed them to put those in their truck cab along with a priceless antique Japanese vase. His assistant had his license revoked so they could not go get a small u-haul. Instead the driver got his wife and finally told us around 2pm she would be there within minutes. We had to drive to the other coast of Florida to the storage unit we needed to rent before 6pm and it is a 3.5 hour drive. The storage company would not rent us the unit unless we were there face-to-face. The driver and his assistant disappeared until 1AM and their office would not return our phone calls FROM 2PM TO 1AM ---11HOURS. We thought they stole everything. Then they refused to wait until the next morning and they refused to account for their time. Because I am disabled I could not stay and watch them unload. When we arrived after their unload it was obvious something was wrong. I repeatedly asked them if everything was there and did they do anything to our items. Then the driver became enraged because of my questions and threw a bike on top of boxes and it bounced and broke a lamp. The driver then tried to get me to agree to pay an additional $500 and I refused to sign anything. That is when he threatened to break into our storage unit and take everything. He refused to leave until we called the police and it was now 3AM. We had to leave the very next day and go to Cleveland from Florida to take care of my mother who is an invalid and my father who was fighting cancer. Because of my father's illness we never returned until mid-December even though we had purchased a condo in September. Even after we moved everything in the condo we had to leave again for my parents. Finally in February we had everything un-boxed and found the priceless vase broken in pieces from the bike throwing fit, two Japanese silk screens with hole the size of your fist and the Arabian Lamps had been stolen. We plan to file criminal charges and anyone who uses these people are begging for a problem. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY. We are also filing a law suit because they refuse to respond to email or phone calls. VERY, VERY BAD NEWS AND CROOKS --- LITERALLY CROOKS.

Response from Rock's Moving Co
This guy is a real piece of work. There are so many lies in this report I would have to write a novel to respond fully. I’ll give you the short version. This move was done 9 months ago. We moved him to Palm Coast, Florida which is about a four hour drive in our truck. When we arrived, we noticed he had more items than he said he would. He had 16 wardrobe boxes which are enormous 4’ high boxes. He counted those as regular boxes when he gave our office the list of items being moved. Common sense says you can’t count these as regular boxes since they are the size of a dresser. He was trying to pull a fast one. I guess he thinks he could load up a “refrigerator box” with 40 boxes and just count that as one box. It is absurd. We planned on moving a FULL truck so additional items wasn’t an option. There simply wouldn’t be any room. This is a big deal when you are moving 4 hours away. A second trip would be an additional 8 hours of driving. The driver called me and asked me what he should do. I told him the customer could hire us another day to move the additional items. We simply didn’t have any additional trucks or men to send that day because we were very busy. Our driver did an extraordinary thing. He told the member he was willing to use his own pickup truck and rent a trailer to get the extra items. And he would have his wife drive all the way to Palm Coast and back pulling this trailer. Our driver and his wife assumed they would be compensated. They made a horrible mistake. Apparently, they should have gotten paid up front. Our driver’s wife put a lot of miles on their personal pickup truck. She spent a lot of money on fuel and on renting a trailer. She spent about 12 hours of her time and didn’t get back from Palm Coast until 5 a.m. Nevertheless, when they finished the move he said he would not give her one penny. What a betrayal of some nice people who were trying to help. This move took a lot more time than we thought due to him having more items, having to get a rental trailer, etc. Nevertheless, we gave him a HUGE discount and only charged him the amount of the original estimate which was $1,750. I expected to be praised for my generosity. Instead, he actually has complained since then that he thinks the move should only cost $1,400. How could he think he could move MORE ITEMS and pay LESS than the estimate? It is not rational. And when he didn’t get his way on that discount he started making up lies about damage and theft to see if that could get him out of paying. Nine out of ten moving companies would have charged him at least an additional $1,000 for the additional work and vehicles required. Because he was being unreasonable, these companies would have told him to pay IN FULL BY CASH before they unloaded the truck. We did not do this. We tried to show him some respect but that turns out to have been a mistake. I wish there was a company like Angie’s List for COMPANIES to write about horrible customers so we could warn other companies not to deal with this man. His grades would be straight “F’s” from us. He is irrational.

This company is great! Worked with me through a very stressful house closing. The move date changed multiple times and they were very flexible. Bob and Donna, in the office were very kind and followed up with me as I rescheduled and rescheduled. I have used other companies in the past that sent guys who were obviously temporary laborers working for a day's cash. They didn't care about how well the job was done and what they broke or sweated on. The young men from Rocks, Terrance, Walter and Gary, were kind, considerate, professional and hard working. They worked really well together and made it look like they were enjoying the hard work they were doing, I would recommend this company to anyone who wants clean, well spoken, polite, professional workers for their move.
Description of Work: I was moving two households into one. They arrived on time and completed the whole job in a little over 6 hours. Our items included very heavy wooden furniture pieces, appliances, and lots of packed boxes. One of the households was a two story townhouse with a narrow staircase. The king size bed mattress was a challenge for the people who originally sold it to me , but not for these guys. I have a love seat and a couch with recliner ends that can be tricky to disassemble and carry, but these guys figured it out. They pointed out any damage they saw before they moved an item. And after the move, I have not found anything that was damaged due to the move. They were very efficient in packing the truck to get both households into one trip.

The moving company scheduled the move on a day and time that was convenient for me. I required them to pick up furniture and boxes from 3 locations, 2 storage units and a home, in both Brandon and Tampa with the final delivery in Pinellas Park. When the two men arrived they introduced themselves and proceeded to make themselves useful. I was running behind with some last minute packing and they asked if they could assist and jumped right in to help with packing. I was feeling overwhelmed and appreciated the help. During the move, they were careful to point out any damage they saw on items or boxes that had been stored. They unloaded in an efficient manner with respect to fragile items and assisted with placing protection on the furniture to protect the new wood flooring. I had many boxes that they placed in a family room that would allow me to get to them safely as I opened them and emptied them. Last but not least, we reloaded several boxes and trunks that were destined to my sister's home several blocks away. I was very pleased with the gentlemen who made my move so much easier that day. Although I hope there are no moves in the near future, If I am wrong I know who to call. Well Done!

First off the man that gives estimates (Bob) is a very nice man. He answered all my questions and gave a fairly accurate estimate. It was only $200 off in my favor! So on moving day a three man crew showed up a few minutes early and did a brief walk through. Immediately they started loading up. Before I know it one apartment was done, then the storage. On the last apartment we had a couple furniture items that were EXREMLY fragile. The crew wrapped them up and very carefully moved them. Once we got to the house they very quickly unpacked everything with only a small break in between. It only took them 6.5 hours and they we always laughing and joking around, being silly yet professional. I am extremely pleased with this company and crew and will defiantly be using them for any future moves!

The scheduler, Bob, helped me to know how to plan for this move. I overestimated the boxes that I thought I would have and that did make the pack quicker. Bob was able to get me on the schedule on very short notice; I called on Saturday and they were able to come on Thursday of the next week, which also happened to be Labor Day weekend. His estimate, between $900- 1200, was fair. He also suggested that I use a 3 man crew, for $140/hour, as opposed to a 2 man crew for $90/hour. That made sense to me, since 3 could work more quickly. It proved to be a wise decision, as the crew came in "under budget" and I was able to hire them again to move the furniture we needed into the apartment.
Description of Work: The closing date for our house arrived before our apartment was ready so this would be a two pronged move (if we could afford part 2). I did the packing myself, and Rock's sent a crew of 3 to load a 3 bedroom house and take to storage. The guys, led by Matt, we awesome. They were very mindful of our things, listened to what I told them about the situation, and loaded the truck accordingly. We decided that the storage unit i had rented would not hold all the stuff, so I rented an additional unit, and labeled the boxes and furniture as to which unit they would be in. Matt, Luke, and Gary worked quickly and efficiently to load the items accordingly. They took only 1 short break and had everything loaded and packed into the storage units in 5 1/2 hours. Granted, we left about 10% of our belongings in the house, but the team worked steadily and the time came in an hour and a half under the estimate.

This was hands down the best move I've ever had (and I've moved A LOT); I would not hesitate to recommend Rock's Moving for anyone considering a move in the future. The team assigned to my move was professional, energetic, and actually quite funny; they were all so positive and were hustling through the job. They even kept me and my mom laughing while they were working. It is so nice to hire workers who not only do a great job, but actually enjoy doing what they do! While I hope to not move again anytime soon, if/when I do, I will be calling Rock's once again to help me. Thanks so much to all the men on my crew!

The team with Rocks Moving was fantastic. They showed up early and were ready to go when they arrived. They prepped everything that needed to be prepped, tore down the furniture, and loaded it quickly. Once we arrived at the new house they moved everything into each of the correct rooms and set everything up.The guys were great to work with and worked quickly and efficiently even with as hot as it was. We had a small issue in the beginning. We have spoke about having two trucks for the move, but they only arrived with one. They made two trips with just the one truck, as opposed to doing the whole move with two trucks. In the end though, I was very happy with the company. The staff was hardworking and they did a great job.

The Movers called us at 12 p.m. on June 29 stating they would be there at 1 p.m., actually showed up at 1:15 p.m. which wasn't to big of an issue since neither of the movers had ever been been to Harbour Island before. When they knocked on my door the lead mover immediately requested I sign their invoice form which states that "I understand that I am paying $95 per hour for 2 men" and "I understand that there will be 1 hour travel time added to the amount of the time that it takes to complete the job." I found it funny at the time they wanted this signed right away before they even looked at the job. After I signed the form the movers grabbed a couple of loose items and said they had to prepare their truck, time was 1:30 p.m. The movers did not return back to our apartment until 2 p.m. and this was only after to found them sitting by the side of the truck (one on the phone and the other moving pads) - So 45 minutes into the move, all that has been moved is a cooler and a side table. The movers were nice enough guys and complained often about their booking service with Rock's saying that this should have been a 3-man move since there was an elevator involved. They were shocked when I told them that their estimator, Bob said it was only a 2-person job. After 4 HOURS of only 1 of the movers taking things out of my apartment and the other mover only focusing on packing, I asked them to find out if we could get an extra mover. They called their office and were told no. So, guess what? I had to assist the movers by carrying all of the mattress and breaking apart my own king size bed and desk. So much for them performing this service? My wife became very upset at the time it was taking and costing us ($95/hr) for this move and the fact I was moving and loading items for them into the Rock's Moving truck. Side note: Neither of the movers had any tools to take apart our desk or bed frame. They actually starting using my tools to without asking to break down our stuff. So much for them being prepared and arriving in a fully equipped moving truck as their ads suggest! When I was carrying items to the truck, I noticed how they were packing our things and they were not using any padded blankets or strapping. Needless to say it was a VERY poor packing job with lots of wasted space above the 5ft level to the ceiling height. My wife contacted their estimator, Bob and she expressed her displeasure in how the move was going and that it was looking like it was going to cost TRIPLE THEIR ESTIMATE! Bob, said that since I signed the form tough luck and if she didn't like it or refused to pay the movers would place everything back into the apartment. The movers approached me and asked me if I wanted the truck unloaded? Since it was 99% full and we were between a rock and a hard place I just wanted the move completed. The movers said it happens all of the time with Bob and Rock's job estimating. Stating that "Bob always under estimates the bids to secure the job, so they run up the hourly charges on the customers." Both movers said they feel really bad for the customers and wish there was more they could do. The loading portion of the move was completed at 6:30 p.m. (6.25hrs) with me helping with the load for the last 2.5 hours and that was only after I agreed to leave several items in our old apartment. The movers followed me to our new condo, only 1 mile away (according to Rock's Policy this just cost us $95 for a 5min drive). We had a reserved elevator for the movers and we coordinated for the moving truck to park less then 20 feet from the elevator door. The movers began the unload with my wife and I helping unpload and carry items to our condo with the movers. With the unload was completed at 9:00 p.m. with me having to reassemble the desk and king size bed they were supposed to do. So when it was all said and done, Rock's Moving Company billed us for 8.5 hours at $95/hr totalling $807.50, on what we expected to be a $400 move while my wife and I worked as movers for 5hrs! IF YOU WANT SLOW, UNPREPARED, UNSKILLED MOVERS WHERE YOU HAVE TO HELP MOVE YOUR OWN ITEMS, BREAK DOWN AND REASSEMBLE YOUR OWN FURNITURE DEFINITELY CONTACT ROCK'S MOVING COMPANY! ....btw their office staff is extremely rude!
Description of Work: We contacted Rock's Moving Company to move our two bedroom apartment from Harbour Island to a Channelside condominium (less than 1 mile). Their estimate was considerably lower than other bids we received, $285 vs. $345+ with other companies for a 3-hour move (needless to say we found out why). Their estimator, Bob did not come out to see our apartment and actually talked my wife out of scheduling a third mover for the job. Other companies said a third mover was necessary. Bob gave the entire estimate over the phone (major red flag!). So we scheduled Rock's to move us on June 29, 2012. The move consisted of loading boxes and taking apart and reassembling a desk and a king size bed frame.

Response from Rock's Moving Co
Dear Sir. The movers showed you the list of items that your wife told our office we would be moving. You refuse to believe that your wife forgot to mention two thirds of your items. Please send me your email address and I will forward the email that your wife sent us. You will see that she ONLY listed 6 pieces of furniture and 25 to 30 boxes. You had over THREE times that amount – so of course the price was THREE times as much. That is precisely why we and most all moving companies charge by the hour. If you want to grossly understate what will be moved, you will get a low estimate. But this will not help you on move day because you will be charged by the hour. Even if you had found a mover that charged a flat rate, he too would have charged you triple if you suddenly wanted triple the amount of items you were moving. The comment that we purposely bid low to try to get this job is ridiculous. We simply don’t do that. And a Friday at the end of the month is a day where we are forced to turn down dozens of jobs because our schedule fills up. We did not “need” this job. In short - we are not mind readers. We base our estimates on what you tell us is going to be moved.

Time is money, especially with local moving, so I was more than curious to see whether Rock's would be efficient or try to expand the time actually needed. I'm pleased and relieved to say they were great about doing things efficiently and carefully, saving me money and preserving the furniture. Matt and Nick arrived promptly at 8:30, the designated time. First gold star. I had two pieces of furniture, one that was long and pretty heavy, but they guys got them out of the apartment in one trip. Matt was good at guiding his less experienced helper in how to maneuver an awkward piece of furniture without damaging it. They followed me to my house and went to work, moving in the easy piece first. The second, long and heavy piece was a challenge. They had to get it up steps, miss the ceiling, which was awfully close, and not lose their grip and watch the piece go flying down the steps and through the front of the house (or crush them). Matt needed his brains and his brawn to figure out and guide his assistant and successfully got the piece of furniture upstairs and in its proper place without a scratch to anything or anyone. Job done in one hour. Very impressive.
Description of Work: Moved two pieces of furniture from an apartment in Seminole to my house in south St. Pete.

They were excellent. We have used them in the past. It was a complete house move. They were on time and professional. We would use them again.
Description of Work: We had a short move, about 5 miles.

The guys were excellent! They could not have been nicer and more helpful. They made sure to keep me very well informed regarding the time the move was taking vs. the estimate that had been given to us (we went well over the amount but for understandable reasons - I had no concerns about this). They guys worked very hard and never even stopped for a break that I saw! They worked with my schedule, arrived at 9:30am and worked the entire day until everything was moved into the new house. Since I never saw them stop for a break, I ordered them a pizza when we got to the new house and they even waited until they were done with the move before they would stop to eat it. I was incredibly happy with the service I recieved from Rock's Moving - from the helpful associate on the phone to the guys who came to move us that day, everyone was excellent. I will continue to recommend them to anyone who needs moving services.
Description of Work: Two men moved us out of our current home and into our new home.

I contacted Rock's moving on May 22,2012 to get to an estimate on how much it would cost me to move to Citrus Springs, Florida from Saint Petersburg. I spoke to a moving consultant named Bob. After I explained to him how much I had to move, he suggested that I needed two trucks. When I ask him how much additional cost would that be , he said only $100.00. He said I would need three men and the cost would be $130.00 per hour. At no time did he mention I would be expected to pay a "travel charge" for the trip back to Clearwater. At the conclusion of the phone call I had been told that the estimate would be around $1200.00 for the move. I told him I did not have a date yet but would contact him in one week and give him the date. I called back June 5,2012 and spoke to Bob again. He said he did not remember talking to me as he speaks to many people everyday. I thought I had made it clear that I was interested in their company moving me and was just waiting for the date. He acted like he did not remember any of our conversation. Anyway I told him well I have the date are you available to move me? He said on the next day he would be able to and I agreed to that. The following day I got a written estimate of the move that was $2000.00. I was shocked, how did the cost jump so high? Bob had raised the cost of the three men to $145.00 per hour, I would have to pay an additional three hours travel time for the men to come back to the area, and now the cost of the second truck it $300.00. I was not a happy camper. Needless to say I have contacted another moving company that is giving me a fixed price. At least I will not expect an additional $800.00 at the end of the move. Maybe the reason Rock's has such good reports on Angie's List is because their movers do a good job , but if my experience with Bob is any indication of how they do business I give them an F.
Description of Work: The services to be performed was to move my furnishing June 22,2012. But after the run around I was given about the price after I had been told it would be one price but it turned out to be a lot higher.

Response from Rock's Moving Co
Let us be clear. NO work was done for this customer. This report was written because she was not happy that we increased her quote. Bob apologized when he realized what he had done. He was thinking she was moving to Citrus Park (in Tampa) instead of Citrus Springs which is a couple hours away. She was given the proper rates the day after she went on our schedule – which was still over two weeks before she was moving. It isn’t like we surprised her with the revised quote the day before her move. She had plenty of time to hire another mover if she didn’t like the revised quote –which is exactly what she did. NO hard feelings. That is the free market at work. It is hard to imagine that some people would hurt our company with a “F” rating over this. Please reserve your “F” reports for the companies that damage all your stuff, and then charge you double before they will even unload the truck. Read some reports, there are many of these companies out there.

The men arrived on time and quickly and efficiently loaded all the furniture and boxes carefully handling and packing any glass shelves. They provided cardboard wardrobes so we could hang the clothes for transporting. The men were polite and well-organized working like a true team never getting upset with each other. They were careful not to scratch any of the furniture. It was amazing how strong they were and how much energy and enthusiasm they put into the job. Matt was a good leader and a great coach to the team. Thank you for your amazing help!
Description of Work: We had 3 movers (Matt, Walter, and Javier) arrive on time at 8:45 a.m. to move us from our 1-story home (3/2/2) to a 2-story town house, which was about the same size. Our bedroom furniture was heavy and large. Also, we had 60 or more boxes packed and ready to be moved. The truck was loaded in about 2.25 hours, and upon arriving at the town house, it was unloaded in another 2.25 hours even in spite of the steep stairs to get to the 2nd floor. It was good that we had the boxes packed and ready to move organized with labels of where they should be placed in the new home.

They were really good. The movers, Walter and Big Matt, were great. I have a small child and they were very considerate of my child. They helped me pack and move me locally. If I have to move, I would definitely use them again.
