ROBBIE'S ASSEMBLY SERVICE

Showed up as planned. Completed all work. Cleaned up after. Good job.

We played a little phone tag in the beginning but that is because I have long work hours. Robbie always called back. They worked very hard the first day and finished promptly the second day. They did a great job!

On the whole, I think it was a good thing. It turned out well. The guy, Robbie, was one level of craftsman and his assistant was another level. In the house where he worked on there is an outside door that goes out from the utility room. Before their arrival it worked totally freely. Since their arrival and departure the door sticks when the sun is on it and when it's wet. I know it can be planed down but I'm just saying I don't know what changed the contour of the door or the door jamb or whatever. All they did was replace molding around the door and caulk. The actual house siding in that area is old-fashioned cement tile stuff with a little wavy edge like about 1 x 2 or whatever it is in size, the cement shingles are on the side of the whole house. The house was built-in 1940. There were a number of them and there were cracks and that isn't so much of a problem. I'm thinking of having the house repainted so it'll all go under cover quick enough that way but I don't understand what happened to the contour of the door jamb that leaves it not working the way it did before they arrived. I've been thinking about this ever since they departed. I really didn't want to give a feedback because I was actually thinking of calling them and talking to them except that I don't really want them out again because it could go from bad to worse. So even though it's not exactly the way I would have liked to have it done, it's fine. I don't want them to come out again because I think it'll just go from bad to worse in that area. So the door works pretty good most of the time. I'll have to put a little muscle to it to get it open. I can come down and shave one of the jambs down to make a little more room for it so it'll close a little easier. We were way above and beyond the big deal amount. The bottom line was 617.88. There were materials. They were pretty expensive. I haven't purchased material for a long time but I found they were pretty pricey myself but that's what the cost of wood is today. I mean, it was a good quality wood and I'm not going to fault them for the materials. I just wish we could have avoided the little problem that I cited. Actually, materials were like only 150 of the total. Labor total was about 467. Robbie's work was A, his assistant was probably C or D. Robbie is a good technician. I saw the title "Robbie's Assembly Service" His original business was putting stuff together for people like shelving or whatever happened to be that involves nails and screws and nuts and bolts whatever but it was an assembly service, literally. I said, "How did you get into remodeling or restoration and something like that?" He says, "Well, it just sort of happened. People asked me if I could do this and that." and so he decided to expand his definition but he didn't change his name. So it's very interesting. So if you had a large bunch of Christmas gifts but you didn't have any time to assemble he would be the guy to call. I thought his labor charge of $85 an hour for a two men crew was a lot but because I'm not the business owner I didn't ask him what all that entails but I know there is insurance, there is vehicles, there is equipment to buy and maintain and there is a whole list of things. When somebody says labor I say to myself, "Well, John Tims used to a pharmacist. He was making 40 or 50 dollars an hour. That seemed pretty good then but I didn't have all those other expenses." So $85 to me it seemed high. I haven't done a lot of these projects so I don't have all that experience to say, "Well, this guy was going to charge this." So I know people evaluate labor differently for different reasons. I don't think they're trying to get over on the public but sometimes it feels like that from my side. When you go to an auto repair place and they're saying, "Well, it's $90 an hour, the bench rate." I'm going, "You've got to be kidding me." But I look around and I see the facilities there, the equipment there to do the job, the materials there to do the job and the parts themselves and so on it all requires money to make it happen. So I'm the guy who gets to pay for it because I'm the guy that needs the service. When Robbie talked to me he listened. He made suggestions if needed. He also made changes when I stepped in and said, "Well, I think we've gone as far as we need to go over here. I'm modifying my design and my requirements." and he reflected that. He had purchased materials and he took back materials that were worth about $150 over and above what he originally purchased for the project as we first discussed it. As work proceeded I simplified my design and my demands and as a result he took back material. Material quality I think is okay but it's fresh wood right this minute. How will it look in 5 years or 10 years is anybody's guess. If I keep painting on it, it will probably be okay if I don't I'll suffer the consequences. I would use Robbie again but I would just say, "Leave your second-in-command at home. Okay, let him go dig a ditch or something. He needs to go back to school."

They were punctual, professional and had it all done in under an hour. A few weeks later I had an issue and Robbie came right back. Turns out there was a broken part in the bed frame. He did a quick fix and I ordered a replacement part. It will be delivered this week and Robbie will come back to do the repair.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and it turned out very well. They were very cooperative, very punctual, and they were very good. I was happy it was a minor repair, and I was very happy with the job that they did, and they fixed it in the amount of the big deal without any extra charges.We talked about other small handy man type services that I need done, and so I told them that I would call them for more services.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. They were punctual, professional, and thorough. They're very gentle with the furniture and they made sure that it wasn't scratched as it was being assembled. They also placed it wherever I needed it. I would certainly hire them without any hesitation.

Robbie and his partner were responsive, timely and efficient. They did an outstanding job for me and I would definety use them again.

You can't go wrong with Robbie. Robbie returned my Saturday voice message within 24 hours and scheduled the work for the next day! He and his helper put together three items for me, one of which they had never seen before. They were competent and courteous and the price was reasonable. I'm a satisfied customer for sure!

Left several phone messages and a notice in the Angie's List message center and was concerned that he had not responded. He had been on vacation and contacted me as soon as he returned on Monday the 12th. He even attempted to fit me in on that day, but it didn't fit either of our schedules, so he came on Tuesday, 8/13 in the morning and was very prompt. He worked with my having to leave for a while and got set up in the garage and said he would most likely be close to completion on the 2 pieces upon my return. He and his assistant were very polite and professional. When I returned the piece of furniture for my dining room, a table,it was almost put together. The garage cabinet was 3/4 the way completed. They both showed care for what they were doing and followed the directions for the assembly and did a wonderful job. They moved out the old furniture and cabinets and placed the new pieces, being sure they were exactly where I needed them to be. They cleaned up all the packaging and boxes and left the paperwork about the 2 pieces there for me to keep. I am so happy to have found Robbie and will definitely use his services in the future!

They were excellent. They were here on time. It was a great price. They were ready to work when they got here. They cleaned up and took care of everything. My husband actually talked to him about doing it. We purchased it at Lowe's and before he could give him a price, he said he would run by there and take a look at it and see exactly what he was dealing with and then he would call us back and get a quote on it. He did that the same day and called my husband back and gave him a quote. He told him when he would be here and they were here right when they're supposed to be here. They were just prepared and had everything organized. They did the work right away and not wasted any time.

Robbie knew what he was doing - you could tell he had done it many times before. And he did it very quickly, less than an hour. He made sure not to damage anything in the apt.

Robbie stopped by right on time. I had emailed him the assembly instructions previously as he hadn't assembled a sauna before. He estimated it would take about 4 hours. He got right to work when he arrived and was very quiet. He cleaned up after himself. He showed me how to operate the unit and did a perfect job of assembling it. It ended up taking him only 2.5 hours so he charged me $175 rather than the original quote of $275.

He was prompt and did an excellent job.

It went well. He was very good, very thorough and very nice. He was very polite and accommodating. He was a nice man and I will call him again. The price was fair and the quality was excellent.

Robbie showed up 30 minutes early and put together our new shed in record time. He was very courteous and professional. The price quoted was fair and he stuck to that quote. We would use his services again without a doubt.

Made time to come to my house when he had other appointments and he came to my work to pick up a check and waited for me to get off. above and beyond the service is great.

I called Robbie and asked for an idea of the price to assemble 4 items as described above adn he willingly gave me an estimate over the phone. He arrived the next day and within a couple of hours had everything assembled and in it's place. He worked clean.

Very punctual, fast with the work performed with great quality.

He started with the mobile task chair and then did the TV stand, complete with drawers. He then tackled the 25 compartment wall unit and anchored it tio the wall. Lastly, he reassembled my bed wall, which was sitting in sections after my move. Everything was done in less than 3 hrs. and saved me much frustration; not to mention time! Robbie is great! I'll definitely be callin him again!
