Comments: John came and gave me an estimate for $1685 less the $100 Angie's list coupon. He was very knowledgeable and explained what I could expect from the process, including the limitations on what could be done with the garage ceiling. (Due to the placement of the studs, the ceiling could be made to look better, but couldn't be made to look completely flat.) While his estimate was higher than the other bidder, he was able to complete the work in one day, the next Monday, instead of three days so I went with him. The three person team came around 9 and was done by 4. They were a polite, hard working crew. They taped up plastic on all the walls and on the floor to keep everything clean. This is very messy work, and I was pleased with the condition of the house when they left. (There was some minor damage to the wall paint from the tape holding up the plastic, which I touched up afterward.) While the ceilings were wet, they looked great. After they dried (a three day smelly process) it was apparent that there were a couple of trouble spots on the lanai ceiling. There were brown spots (not there previously) and rings around the two can lights and there was a portion of the ceiling that they had missed while painting. I called John on Thursday and left a message. No response. I called again on Friday and he said someone would come by the next Monday. On Monday, no one showed up and no one called. I called John again on Tuesday. He said someone would come by on Wednesday at 9. No one came or called so at 0930, I called John back. Around 1100 someone came and touched up the spots. He did a good job as well. After it dried, it was fine. The ceilings look so much better, I am really pleased with them, but getting someone back to do the touchup was harder than it should have been.

He fixed where it was sagging and re-textured it. Very good job!

Original work lasted only briefly. Tape along straight seems peeled back and revealed long straight ceiling splits on tape lines across the house. Business owner stated that the guarantee was only for one year despite the obvious poor results. Ceilings now require all work repaired and repainted about 600 square feet. Business owner asked us to confirm we were not on a sink hole, insinuating the splits were caused by the house settling. After more expensive consultations, it was determined the house is not on a sink hole. Three other estimates from other Ceiling Repair companies confirmed independently that the original ceiling work reflected poor workmanship. We were assured that proper workmanship should last 20 years - not less than 18 months. The business owner told us that its a c*** shoot with ceiling work - sometimes it takes and sometimes it doesn't - and Quality Ceiling Refinishing doesn't take responsibility for long term customer satisfaction. We do not recommend this service provider to anyone who intends on staying in their home more than 12 months to avoid not having to repair the work of Quality Ceiling Refinishing after their guarantee period expires.

It looks great. John came out right away, and the work was done within a few days. I expected it to cost a lot more.

We decided to replace the popcorn ceiling in one of the small bedrooms, so we checked the list and found Johns company. He came over gave a good estimate, and then he also talked us into doing the other 2 bedrooms for a discount, and we jumped at it. At the time we were in the process of putting in wood floors from another company. and everything was in the front living room. We went to the other 2 rooms, and asked him questions about covering the furniture, and he stated "everything will be covered, because there close to the wall, just take these items down(high items off the desk), and you'll be fine. He also told us that they will clean up after everything. Great we said. We really didn't have anymore room to move anything else. 2 days later the contractors arrived on time, and got right to work. Mark was the supervisor, I had to ask questions to at least get some insight into exactly know what I would be expecting during the day. As the day went on It seemed to be going well, until it was time to finish up and start cleaning. Because it was raining, I guess my overhead cover that runs down the entire side of my garage wasn't enough, they decide to clean their tools(which has all the old white drywall gunk on it) in my pet memorial garden, which lines the front of my house and porch. I was told that they would vacuume and cleanup everything, nothing would be left behind. There was popcorn remains all over my house, left on the desk, on the master bedrooms, lined up along the hallway floors, the front door throw rug was wet from them walking in and out from the rain, and tracking the white stuff, in and out of the front room. To make things worse. When the took down the AC vents, they plastered them, and I was told by John to just punch holes in it, it's not hard to do. I also found my thermostat on the floor. It had fallen before, but this time, they walked over it several times, and now, it is completely broken. I called John the next day, and told him what happened, and he said he never had a complaint about the quality of his work. The did an awesome job on the ceilings, it was great. It was the cleanup, and his response to it that I don't agree with. He then said he would come out first thing the next day, around 9am, I said great. 10am. and I finally called. John answered, and said are you home, like He called, and apparently I wasn't here. Very funny. He came over. We discussed the issues. He of course didn't agree with the things that I stated to him. His responses were consistently about what I can do to fix the problem, not what he or his workers should have done to not get to this point in the first place. Unfortunately, I have decided not to use this company again. Theres always a first time for everythng.

Update: The workmanship and quality of material is bad. It just doesn't hold up over time. There is nothing like the ceiling always falling down. Did the job in one day. The texture started falling down within several weeks of the job. I called the owner and he said he would have someone out to fix this. I took off from work for them to come out and they never came out. So, we had to reschedule the appt. and I had to take off work again. This time they came out and by this time the ceiling was literally falling on my head in the master bedroom and bathroom. Instead of fixing the problem they said they would need to redo the ceiling completely. They came out on another day and redid the ceiling. They took down their texture and redid it with different material and texture. They didn t completely cover the ceiling and it did not match the rest of the house. They were sloppy in their workmanship; they used staples in the wall. This job again started cracking and falling. The owner came out to look at it and he said he would have someone out this morning (2/19) to fix it. He said he would patch it; but I didn t want it patched, I wanted it redone. He told me it would be Mon. or Tue. of next week before they could get the crew out to do the work and started screaming and yelling at me over the phone. I either want this job fixed or I would like my money back for the poor workmanship.

This was a great experience. John followed up and was punctual on the day he came for estimate. The crew that worked on our home was professional, neat, fast and we love the look of our ceiling now, so much nicer than previously.

Could not be happier with the new ceilings. One room had an awful texture that resembled an upside down mountain range with stalagmites and all. John's crew had to skim coat the ceiling three times to prep it for the orange peel texture. Normally, they will be done with your house in one day, but because of all the skim coating it took another day. I've never seen anything like this done, the prep work they do is incredible. To avoid any mess, they literally encase your house with plastic. From the top of the walls, to the center of the floor, is covered in plastic. Spending the night with this was quite interesting, it's a good thing we didn't do the bedrooms as we camped out in there. I do plan on having them back out to do the bedrooms once my other remodeling projects are done. From John, to his crew, these guys are top notch. The ceilings look terrific!!!

Quality was recommended by the company I'm using for my kitchen renovation. I called the owner, John, and he arrived at the scheduled time promptly. John was a pleasure to work with and gave me a proposal on the spot. His crew arrived at the appointed time each of the three days and masterfully taped, removed and replaced my ceilings. They were polite, professional and respectful. Each day they removed the debris and left our home clean. Fantastic workmanship by Mark Sr., Mark Jr. and Grant!

Same day service. Installed corner bead, taped, finished and textured a 3' X 5' area in my home. Did an OK job of matching existing texture. Great communication and professional service. Did a great job keeping my house clean.

Out of the few quotes I received theirs was the best.

He is one of the nicest guys you could ever talk to. He was a little more expensive but also did more work than others were going to do. He did a wonderful job, the work looks phenomenal and I will use him in future.

Jim, the estimator, was very prompt and professional. The 2 guys that did the job were late. It was suppose to take 2 days and I believe it took 3. They taped up the visqueen to protect my new kitchen cabinets that were just installed and everywhere throughout the home. Though, I was not aware of the mess that they were going to make. Every single wall in the house had to be repainted. The tape they used, and then pull down the visqueen with, peeled my paint off the entire perimeter of every room. Also, they got kilz on my brand new drop lights and then some of their visqueen came off the wall so they stapled it back up and I had to remove 40 staples. There was mud all over my walls and paint on my new TV, and entertainment center. To make matter worse, my bathroom ceiling started peeling and the kitchen started to crack in a weeks time. I called at least a dozen times for them to come back out and finally almost 2 months later they fixed the problems.

I met with QC's estimator, Jim, who arrived on time, reviewed the project, and provided a written estimate that clearly described the work to be performed. I mention this as I had at least three other companies who either wouldn't put something in writing or when they did, it was too vague to be acceptable. Jim was extremely courteous, professional, and was able to accommodate a quick date for service. On the day of the service, their lead man, Roger, arrived with his partner a couple hours late due to a delay in their previous job. Although I was unhappy with that, I soon realized how easily a job can become much more work than originally anticipated. Roger reviewed the work, made helpful suggestions to improve the plan and reduce the necessary work, and completed the job in a total of 6 hours. Other bids anticipated 16 hours. Although Roger had some frustrating moments that were a bit unnerving, his work is excellent, and you can't tell where it begins and the old wall ends.

THEY REMOVED THE CEILING FAN IN THE BEDROOM WHEN THEY REPLACED THE CEILING, BUT THEY DID NOT RE-INSTALL THE FAN. IN THE BATHROOM THERE ARE FOUR PLACES THEY DID NOT COAT WITH THE ORANGE PEEL FINISH. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE OWNER MANY TIMES REQUESTING HIS WORKERS RETURN TO COMPLETE THE JOB. FINALLY SOME WORKERS SHOWED UP, BUT THEY COULD NOT RE-INSTALL THE FAN AND THE TOUCHUP WAS NOT DONE PROPERLY AND IT DOES NOT MATCH. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE COMPANY SINCE, BUT NOTHING HAS YET BEEN DONE.

INITIAL QUALITY LOOKED GOOD. BUT IN LATE JULY, 2004, LESS THAN 13 MONTHS LATER, STREAKS FORMED WHERE SEAMS IN THE STYROFOAM PANELS WERE JOINED. REPEATED PHONE CALLS MADE TO GET A COMPANY REP TO COME. HE SAID IT WAS MOLD AND TO SPRAY WITH A CLOROX SOLUTION. THE COMPANY OFFERED TO DO IT FOR $124.00 EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LESS THAN 30 DAYS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I SPRAYED IT MYSELF USING A WEAKER SOLUTION OF CLOROX THAN THE REP TOLD ME TO USE. IN FEB. 2005, 18 MONTHS AFTER THE INITIAL WORK WAS DONE, THE MOLD RETURNED A 2ND TIME AND THE CEILING'S COATING STARTED COMING OFF AND FALLING ON THE FLOOR. 4 PHONE CALLS A WEEK APART WERE MADE TO THE COMPANY FOR ADVICE ON REPAIRING, BUT NONE HAVE BEEN RETURNED. QUALITY AND DURABILITY IS POOR. THE INITIAL CEILING LASTED OVER 20 YEARS, THIS COMPANY'S WORK LASTED LESS THAN 2 YEARS.

I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD COMPLETE THE JOB IN 1 DAY. THEY DID NOT, DUE TO A CONFLICT WITH ONE OF THE WORKERS WHO HAD TO LEAVE EARLY. THE GUYS WHO PERFORMED THE WORK WERE NO NONSENSE AND WENT STRAIGHT TO WORK. THEY DID A GOOD JOB OF PROTECTING THE WALLS AND FLOORS AND DID A GREAT JOB CLEANING UP.

WE PREVIOUSLY HIRED A COMPANY TO PAINT OUR GARAGE CEILING. THE WET PAINT CAUSED THE CEILING TO FALL DOWN. I CALLED SEVERAL DRY WALL COMPANIES REGARDING THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WERE EITHER TOO EXPENSIVE OR COULDN'T GET TO ME SOON ENOUGH. I THEN DISCOVERED QUALITY CEILING REFINISHERS, INC.. THIS COMPANY OFFERED A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM. INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE DRYWALL AND REPAINTING THE CEILING, THEY USED SPRAY CRETE. SINCE SPRAY CRETE IS A FINISHED PRODUCT THAT DOESN'T NEED TO BE PAINTED, I COULD SAVE MONEY. SO, I HIRED QUALITY CEILING REFINISHING, INC.. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY SHOWED UP WHEN THEY PROMISED, COMPLETED THE JOB IN A TIMELY FASHION, AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK WAS GREAT. AND WHEN THE JOB WAS COMPLETED, THE CREW CLEANED UP THE AREA AND LEFT IT AS THEY FOUND IT. THE GARAGE CEILING LOOKS GREAT! AND I WOULD DEFINELTY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.

THE ENTIRE PROCESS WITH THIS COMPANY WAS A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. MY ENTIRE HOUSE FLOODED DUE TO A WATER MAIN BREAK. IT WAS A MESS. THIS COMPANY MADE THE EXPERIENCE SO MUCH EASIER. EVERYONE FROM THE OWNER, TO THE SALESMAN, TO THE CREW THAT PERFORMED THE WORK WERE OUTSTANDING. THE PRICE WAS THE BEST ESTIMATE OF I WAS GIVEN. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK IS EXCELLENT.

THEY MISSED THE INITIAL APPOINTMENT. THE SECRETARY ASKED FOR ANOTHER CHANCE, & THE OWNER SET A NEW APPOINTMENT. THEY MISSED THIS ONE TOO! VERY DISAPPOINTING

CONTRACTOR DID NOT SHOW ON 2 APPONTMENTS.THE CONDO ASSOC.PAID 345.00 AND WE PAID 135.00 FOR REFINISHING THE CEILING AND WALL.THE WALL WAS NOT PAINTED JUST REFINISHED APPOX.1' BY 1'.

NEVER SHOWED UP AS PROMISED. SPOKE WITH THE OFFICE SEVERAL TIMES AND NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK.
