We purchased coupons for four recessed can lights to be installed in our kitchen on a Friday afternoon. Within an hour, the service was scheduled for the following Wednesday. The electrician called when he was on his way and showed up at the scheduled time. The install was performed well and dispite a messy job (cutting four holes in a plaster ceiling), the electrician cleaned up after the job was done. All in all, a great experience. Only negative, they offered to up-sell to LED lights for $65 per light. The same LED cans are available at big box stores for $20.

Great service and price, total pros!
Description of Work: This is the third time Theta Electric has come out and taken care of me. They were very prompt and professional and they redid all the lighting in my bathroom and it looks great. New fixtures, switches and outlets look fresh and new. The electrician cleaned up and made sure I knew how everything worked, I am thrilled with the job!

They were very prompt and responsive to start the process. They gave us a competitive rate to upgrade our electrical box and upgrade our wiring for a new start up restaurant. After we agreed on the scope of work and fees, the work started and they were anything but prompt. They would pretty much show up whenever they wanted to show up. After the work was complete, they sent in an electrician two weeks after they finished their work to do the electrical schedule. They pretty much wrote a bunch of stuff in the electrical panel. Two months after the work was complete, we realized that the electrical panel (electrical schedule) was labeled completely wrong. We kept having a freezer trip several times a day. I called them several times and they'd show up and say everything is working as designed. After further investigation and another electrician, it turns out that they actually completely missed running a dedicated outlet for the freezer. I kept asking them to come back and simply upgrade the current breaker that was being utilized for the freezer from a 20amp breaker to a 30 amp breaker and after 2 months of texting back and forth and asking them when they were going to show up, I had to completely give up on them because they stopped responding to me. Every day, they said, we'll show up in the afternoon and they would never show up. This happened for weeks, until I was just sick and tired of their bullsh!t. Not only that, but every time I called them to explain the situation and ask for advise, they made it seem like I was committing a crime for contacting them. They were rude, unreliable, and completely unresponsive. After spending over $6k for an electrical project, they still couldn't figure it out. STAY AWAY!! If i could give them zero stars, I would.

By far the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. I would categorize it as a nightmare. They had to be told (by me) to obtain a permit three times before they filed for one. They were told both the city and the county required one, however, they still didn't think they needed one. When they finally did file for it, they put my name down instead of the company's, which needs a license number. The permit supervisor for the city said it sounded like a scam and suspended the permit until they could correct it. The quality of work was horrendous. The job they were asked to do was not that involved. They were to basically run new wires where necessary, check the existing outlets and replace those that needed it, hang ceiling fans (some of which needed boxes run), install a couple outlets and lights, and do a safety inspection in the attic. When the crew arrived, they did not have the necessary equipment to do the job. They didn't even bring a shop vac to clean up after themselves. They left wires, screws, and broken glass everywhere. They couldn't even clean up their urine after missing the toilet. I had to clean up after them. They also cut and chiseled out holes in areas that didn't need them. Due to not having a shop vac, my vacuum was used, which they ended up breaking. A chair was also broken in the process. Ceiling fans were hung incorrectly by supposed master electricians (did not attach the bracket necessary to hang the ceiling fan while attaching the wires). I actually had to help one of the electricians while he was trying to fix the previous electrician's mistakes. There was no one else there to hold the fan for him, so I had to. Exposed wires in walls were not covered correctly after the installations were done, and wires were stapled to carpets to secure them. The GFI outlets installed in my kitchen had to be redone at least five times, by three different electricians, before they would work. Different electricians also had to come out on numerous occasions to fix other issues that had not been done correctly, and the safety check was never done. The project manager showed up twice during the entire job. Once when the job started and once when I started complaining about the work and damage that had been done. Instead of coming to the job to check on their new employees, he asked me if the job was completed and asked when employees were showing up to and leaving my house. Very unprofessional. I contacted the owner and he eventually came out to inspect the work that had been done. He also did not have the tools necessary to check the work that had been done. He had to use my step ladder just to check a ceiling fan. The employee that had initially given me the estimate was with him. After checking some of the outlets that were not working, I was told that the outlets were not working properly due to old wiring. Numerous outlets that had been working prior to the job starting were no longer working. Around three quarters of the outlets showed they were not wired correctly. I was then told that retiring the outlets would be an additional charge. When the estimate was initially given to me, I was advised any wiring for the outlets was included. Talk about a bait and switch. They also tried to charge me for wiring that I was told was already included in the contract I signed. Definitely a scam. After not hearing from them concerning correcting the permit, I asked another electrical contractor to come out to give me an estimate to correct their mistakes and checki all of their work. The electrician looked at the work that was done by Theta and advised me that the work they did was not up to code or was done incorrectly. I have filed complaints with the county and state, as well as Angie's List and Home Advisor. A word to the wise - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY TO DO ANY ELECTRICAL WORK FOR YOU!!!

He did a good job. I would say his initial price offer was fairly high. He came in for like 3 outlets and he quoted more than $1,000. Once I started calling around and checking Angie's list, he basically came down with the price to like $500 all of a sudden. He did a good job after that but I think his initial quote was a little high.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY!! First off, I called to inquire about the "big deal" through angie's list and spoke with Jill who informed me that installation on a single ceiling fan would be around $100. She further explained that the deal included $225 of electrical services; however what she failed to tell me was that the services our NOT what you want done. The electrical services are checking your panel and seeing if you have a surge protector on your home. The technician who was very polite knew exactly what to do by company protocol. He tried to sell me surge protection which I declined and then proceeded to bid the job. Secondly, the prices for this company are outrageous-almost 30% higher than other quotes I received. Shame on me for not looking further in this deal. After I purchased the $49 for the "$225 in electrical services" is where I saw the details. I called the company to express my dissatisfaction and their response was we have had several complaints regarding this advertisement and need to change the wording. the technician also had said the same thing that customers were equally unaware of this misleading advertisement and that the company is looking into changing how it is worded. I paid a total of 234 to replace old ceiling fans. If a deal seems too good to be true, it is. They basically give you $75 off on what work YOU wanted done! Be very careful when doing business with this company. I thought I had asked the right questions and they are very vague about the "225 in electrical service". I will never use them again and make sure others know how deceptive this company really is!! Buyer beware.

Josh did excellent work installing all the fans, and even waited while I ran out and got a replacement fan for one that was dead on arrival. He was helpful, answering any questions I had, and also gave me some estimates for future work. One thing I liked about Theta was that all of their work is job-based, not by the hour. So no matter how long it takes them, you only pay the job price. The part I don't like, but I figure is probably standard, is the high price! But, the bathroom exhaust fan took extra work as the opening wasn't quite the same (though it did work out okay). He cleaned up after his work, was professional, and spent most of the day working on all the tasks. He was able to do all the work without us being without power, which was another plus.

Theta Electric does not charge by the hour, we charge flat rate pricing from our price book, so pricing is per job. This way, our clients know exactly what the job costs to the penny before any work has begun. The price does not change no matter how long the work takes to complete. This is why the customer was presented with a flat rate, fixed price to change out the electrical panel.

Prompt same-day service. Completely professional. Courteous, knowledgeable, did excellent work, and cleaned up. Best of all, not only was the work done and re-checked, the bill for the work and material was very reasonable. I have dealt with two other electrical contractors in the recent past. THETA stands out as the best in my opinion.
I took advantage of that. There really wasn’t much to do. I needed somebody to look at the panel. It was a five-minute work. If I had a regular electrician do the exact same thing, it would have been a $150 service call. To have them do the service call is all I really needed. They were overpriced. There was some other work that needed to be done around the house. While they were here, I asked for a couple of estimate on variety of small jobs. They do good work I’m sure. They were out quick. They were great. The guy that came out was great. They were super nice.

I was told the electrician who originally came out in June to install a timer for our outside lights was coming back for this visit - the timer was not working. They sent someone else who tried to get it working but could not. Very frustrated I called the company - could not get it fixed until after the weekend. Monday the 22nd they did send out the original guy and he got it working. Not sure about the knowledge of the young guys they have working for their company?
