Received a cold call - where they promised everything to check, clean, replace filters, fill up freon etc. Then a nice guy was coming checking everything in a few minutes, did not replace filters because he said the provided ones are too bad (!!) left me with open filter trays and just suggested to have the airhandler cleaned for 450$ ... and yes ... instead of refilling freon as promised ... now we definitely have less freon because of the escaped part during checking. Bottomline: chances that my A/C will fail are now 10x higher than before because of all these sensless checkings ... beware ... no more ....

The installation was completed when promised. It took a week to finish installing the rain shield to finish the job. The inspection passed. From day one there was a problem with the thermostat which is still not resolved. After many calls and one replaced thermostat, it is still not working right. Promised return calls have not happened and I'm still waiting for a callback that was supposed to be yesterday morning. It has been 2 weeks of broken promises to fix this issue. I believe the was over priced and the follow-up service was lousy. I definantly would not recommend this company and would not use it in the future!

WORST experience I've ever had with a contractor. Faulty installations (which failed inspection), property damages, failure to pay for the damages we were awarded by the small claims court, rude and the list of horrors goes on. My mother and I both experienced the following failures: · faulty installation of BOTH of our A/C systems · failed inspections at BOTH my home and my mother's home · My mother's house flooded when the unit installed in the attic was improperly installed (the ceiling in two rooms literally came down because of all the water flooding out and needed to be completely removed, etc.) · My house had significantly leaking in two rooms; my wood floors and ceiling were damaged · Lack of response to our repeated requests to repair faulty installation and damages · Despite many requests, National has refused to provide its insurance info · Failure to pay damages awarded by the small claims court Since our complaints were ignored, we eventually had to take National Heating & Air Conditioning to small claims court. Of course, we won our small claim (the negligence and damages were so obvious), but Mark and Bryan Henderson have YET to pay the money they owe us. *** Here's the complaint I filed with the Pinellas County Construction & Licensing Board *** In early June, my mother contracted with National, Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for installation of a new A/C system. Later that month, I also contracted with National to perform a new A/C installation. Unfortunately, we?ve paid over $10,000 and have both experienced numerous problems, including: · faulty installation (both of our houses have failed inspection) · non-adherence to building code · extensive damages caused by faulty installation · no response to our numerous requests for mold testing or to address our damages My mother?s complaint against National will be filed separately. Below you?ll find a description of my complaint. Notes: · The company initially requested the entire balance to be paid in full before any work began. I refused this arrangement but subsequently agreed to pay half in advance and the balance upon completion. · The company insisted that both checks be written not to the name of the company, but rather to ?Cash? or ?Bryan Henderson.? · On July 1, National attempted to complete the installation in one day. I was concerned about their ability to complete an installation that included removal of the existing system and replacement of all materials in that timeframe, especially since it was raining heavily all day. That night, I spent hours cleaning the debris and mud left in my home. I haven?t been able to remove the mud footprints that were left on my white dining room chair, which was located directly under one of my vents. The technicians came back the next day to finalize the installation and collect the balance of the money due. I explained to the salesman that I felt uncomfortable paying him because there were still numerous problems with the installation, among them an outside A/C unit that was visibly unlevel and well off-center of the cement base on which it rested and a big hole was left in my ceiling. The salesman asked ?why are you giving me a hard time?? and insisted that I pay him the money. At this point, I was feeling uncomfortable by his presence and tone and so we paid him. Notes: · The techs came back on July 3, to fix the level problem but left very heavy cement slabs, which I?m unable to move. · During that same visit, an A/C tech attempted to repair the hole in my ceiling but did so with improper materials and the repair remains unfinished. On July 6, both my home and my mother?s home failed inspection. The inspector was annoyed by the quality of work, saying it was sloppy and that he would fine the contractor due to the poorness the installation. On the morning of July 25, as I was talking to my mother on the phone about her problems with National, I felt water dripping on my shoulder. I looked up and saw water dripping from the ceiling. I immediately went up into the attic and discovered that the condensor pipe was leaking water. I then put a bucket under the leak and called National to request an emergency repair. Hours after my call, I missed the call from the service tech. I received a voicemail message but it was blank (I can provide the saved message upon request). I called back several times leaving messages but received no further response until Monday morning. On Monday, July 27, I received a phone call from Mark Henderson, the brother of the company owner, Bryan Henderson. Note: My contract specifies 24 hour emergency repair service, yet it took two days to get in contact with anyone from the company. I explained to Mr. Henderson the problems I was having and asked him to send a technician out to my home after work at 5:15pm. I explained that, due to the numerous failed repair attempts at my home and my mother?s home, I was becoming increasingly concerned about the quality of work. Again, I expressed my concerns about mold. After an unpleasant discussion, Mr. Henderson offered to have mold samples taken for testing that evening. Mid-afternoon that day, I arranged with Mr. Henderson meet his tech at 5:30pm. I asked him to send his best technician out and specifically asked him not to send the technicians who perfomed the installation - he agreed. At 6:25pm, the service tech who performed the initial installation arrived and attempted to repair the problem. I told the service technician that we were told mold samples would be taken for testing. The technician explained that his company hadn?t given him instructions to test for mold and he didn?t know how to do that anyway. In summary, two faulty installations, two failed inspections, two floods, lack of response to our repeated requests to repair damages, failure to provide insurance information, failure to pay court warded damages. It really doesnt get any worse than this. Lastly, Mark Henderson falsely accused me of lying, was very sarcastic to me and also has told me and the inspector that he has recorded my phone calls (without my knowledge or consent). I pleaded with Mr. Henderson, the company receptionist and the service technicians to understand that elderly mother and I just want what we paid for - properly functioning A/C systems and repairs to the damages caused. I also expressed my concerns about mold numerous times and appealed to them to understand that I am truly concerned about my mother?s health. · The contractor did not responded to my requests address damages or mold testing. · The service technician told me no load and balance testing was performed. Some rooms are obviously warmer than others. · I don?t believe the contractor followed proper procedures (manual J?) to determine proper unit size. · The leak occurred AFTER an attempt was made to repair the problems noted in the failed inspection. · Extremely heavy cement slabs left at my home. I'm SHOCKED this company is still in business. Check with the Pinellas County Construction & Licensing Board ( 727-582-3112) to see for yourself. One of the biggest complaint files on record. BOTH my mother and I had to hire another A/C company to fix National's faulty installation.
Description of Work: My mother and I separately hired National Heating & Air Conditioning to install new A/C units in each of our homes. The installations at each of our homes were both disasters.

Since I have had this new unit have had 3 service calls, plus a complaint to the "manager" that came to inspect the install. The service guys have given me excuses like the body heat standing in front of the thermostat is what is causing the ac from not working, need 3 more air returns, "they should have told you that" everyone's ac isn't cool in the heat of the day. I have called twice and asked to speak to the owner Mark Henderson, Today I was told he isn't the owner. I had several friends recommend this company, Apparently they didn't know this company takes advantage of single mothers. Guess what? You picked the wrong one.My friends, and especially not me, will NEVER recommend you to anyone.

The National Tech put on the good old boy act but used scare tactics to get me to sign the contract. I had a bad feeling about what he was saying so called another company for a secocd opinion. My system was fine, I did not need to replace my heat pump. After the National technition left my system began to give me problems. When the second company (KRON & West Air Conditioning) checked the system they found a cloged drain and purged it (I wonder why the problem didn't show up before National left, after all they came to do a PM) I am now trying to cancel the National Contract. I called them as well as mailed a certified letter - there is a 3 business day grace to cancel contracts in Florida. When I called them I left a message with their answering service, the Tech called me back telling me that I signed the contract and they would be at my house to install the unit on schedule. I told them that it they showed up I would call the police. Before KRON arrived, I checked my credit card and found that National had already put through the full payment for the system and it had been posted it my account. I have put through a dispute on the charge. As a side remark: National made the initial call. They completely ignored the fact that I am on the National DO NOT Call Register. Responding to their call and scheduling the PM was my first mistake. Signing the contract and giving them my credit card number was my second and third mistakes. I new better, but old age is creeping up on me and I need more time to make these kinds of decisions. As a second side remark: As I was finishing this review, the National Manager called me to apologize for the problem I was having and to tell me that the Credit Card charge was reversed and the contract was cancelled.
Description of Work: I scheduled a PM and received a pressure sales pitch. My system was running fine until he left (details later). He pressured me into purchising a $3,000 outside unit (heat Pump) as well as pumped me for personal information about my credit card, financial status, what I did before I retired as well as other things.

So far they worked out very very well. I got them from Angie's List. They did a very very good job. I signed a two-year contract with them to handle my air conditioning. In every way they were tops. My system was running fine, but what they did was check it out. I had had another service for many many years and the cost of the contract was increased, they were adding some other costs that I did not want to pay, and these people were far more reasonable. Their service technician was excellent. They do maintenance so I do not have to worry about getting somebody else.

On Feb 20, 2008 I purchased a Central A/C Heat Pump System from the above subject Company. At the same time I also received a two (2) year Service Contract with the same organization. On the Install contract document that I signed and the seller signed it is stated in hand printing and noted with an asterisk (*) the following and I quote: ?* LIFE TIME WARRANTY ON COMPRESSOR AND EVAP COIL 10 YEAR ALL OTHER PARTS 2 YR SERVICE CONTRACT? There is no indication or notice of registration requirement. I was never instructed or told that it was my responsibility to register the system. There was no registration card or document to fill out in order to register the system. Indeed I have no access to any information that may be required to register the system, such as the Model Numbers or Serial Numbers on either the outside compressor unit or the inside air handler. This information is however readily available to the seller. I have had a service contract on this system since day one and continue to have one through March 2014. Service has been performed on the system every spring and every fall save 2012 when only one service was performed. On Oct. 24, 2013 I placed a service call for a problem with the system. Service tech diagnosed a faulty Heat strip and it was replaced the next day along with a faulty Fan Control Board. All parts were covered under warranty and I paid for the labor ($175.00). I subsequently placed a call to schedule the Fall tune-up for Nov. 7, 2013. While the service was being done the Compressor suddenly stopped running. The service tech could not get it to start again. The tech placed a call to his boss regarding the problem, sent him the info via text and voice messaging. The tech received a return call from his boss and was told there was no warranty coverage. I then showed the contract specifying the warranty information to the tech. He relayed this info to his boss and the tech told me his boss was on vacation and the tech would contact me that afternoon with the part ordering information and schedule the install of the compressor. I was never contacted that Thursday afternoon. Nor was I contacted the next day Friday or that weekend. On Monday, November 11, 2013 at about 09:45 AM, I called National Heating and asked to speak with the Manager. I was told by Sara that Mark was on a conference call and that she would put a note on his desk to return my call. At about 2:40 PM I again called National Heating, and this time I was told that Mark was out in the field but that he had a note on his desk to return my call. As of this date, Friday 01/10/2014, I have not heard from Mark or anyone else from National Heating.
Description of Work: Subject: National Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing 2650 Enterprise Road, Suite C Clearwater, Florida 33763 The above subject Company has steadfastly refused to honor a Contract that was signed by both parties and specifically states the Warranty as it applies to the Heat Pump System. The following outlines the chronology of the events that took place.

They are timely, they come when they are expected to come, and they do a very good job. We had used them before and they are somebody we can trust. We had used them in 2009 for cleaning and updating the whole system. The price seemed reasonable but we didn't compare. The basic cleaning was like other ones that we had called in. We had put in a new unit for 7000Dollars, and they were able to upgrade us for 1100 Dollars, so it was good.

They sent a guy out and he said that the fan and compressor was shot. He said that it was an old unit and informed me we would have to get the entire unit replaced. The unit was only installed in 2008. He said it would be $4,300. We gave him half down and he said he would put the new one in the next morning. I called my real estate agent to determine why our inspector didn’t find anything when we bought our house. My real estate agent sent her air conditioner guy out and he called back and let us know that the air conditioner was working fine and it just needed a capacitor. It was only $150. I was so mad that they tried to get me to buy a new air conditioner when I didn’t need one. I demanded my money back. When I called, the girl answered the phone, but the manager wouldn’t come to the phone and talk to me about this. I wanted a refund and they told me that they had mailed the check to me on the 8th. A week later I called again, and then finally I received a check. The check was postmarked after the date they had said they sent it, so I am really upset they lied to me.

It was horrible. The city inspector was out this morning and found additional issues. The automatic drip pan switch was not installed properly which caused it to over-flow. This caused the ceiling in our master bedroom to collapse. They finally wrote a check to a company to replace the ceiling, but I now have to replace the electrical. There were a lot of little things that included breaking a landscaping light, dumping insulation out of the attic in the yard, and the list goes on and on. The last unit I purchased from them had a 5 year warranty and went out in 7 so I had to replace the whole unit.
Description of Work: They installed a A/C unit.
