JL Custom Flooring was hired to remove and replace the shower in my master bathroom. On March 6, 2015 Jason Lester began work and received the first payment of $1175.00, which included partial labor and additional materials purchased. The work was completed on Wednesday March 11, 2015, he was then paid the remaining balance of $825.00 for a total of $2000, on top of the materials I purchased. I was told to let the shower dry for 24 hours then clean with a vinegar/water mix. On Friday March 13, 2015 I began to spray and wipe down with a vinegar/water mix and in doing so I noticed there were cracks in the grout throughout the entire shower. He was notified Friday March 13, 2015 at 5:02pm about the cracked grout as well as the problems I had with the way the drywall looked on the edges of the shower. I was told the shower was ok to use and he would be out on Monday to touch up. Monday March 16, 2015 I contacted Jason to verify he would be at the house, at that time I was told he would not be making it. On March 30, 2015 I reached out again to find out when he could be expected and I was told he would be back to work on Thursday, however, he never contacted me regarding a date and time to repair the cracked grout. On April 17, 2015 I contacted him again, I was told again he wouldn?t be able to make it out. On April 23, 2015 I contacted again expressing my frustration and how this is not acceptable and very unprofessional. On April 24, 2015 (44 days later) he returned to re-grout (did not remove original grout). Again I was told to wait 24 hours to shower. I let the shower set over the weekend and again with the vinegar/water mixture cleaned on Monday April 27, 2015. On Wednesday April 29, 2015 I started cleaning the shower again and the grout began to peel completely out of the lines. I took pictures and forwarded to Jason explaining how unhappy I was with his work. At that time I was told it has to be a problem with the grout and that he would contact Home Depot and speak with them, he told me he would get back with me in the morning. On April 30, 2015 I reached out to him at 11:20am because I had not heard from him. At that time I was told an inspector from the manufacture would be out to take pictures and make a claim on Friday May 1, 2015 at 9:30am. Jason also said he would be removing all the grout and re-grouting again. I took the day off to be at the house to meet with the inspector as well as monitor Jason?s work because I wanted to make sure everything was the way it should be and wanted to ensure that he wouldn?t leave until the work was finally completed. While Jason did show up, nobody from the manufacture company was present. I asked Jason for the contact info and contacted them myself. Jason told me he spoke with a gentleman by the name of Hector. I contacted the company and was finally able to speak directly to Hector himself who told me he had no idea who Jason was and had never spoke with him regarding the grout issue. He also told me he was located in California. I was then directed to the local representative who also never spoke with Jason. When Jason was confronted he blew it off and claimed he had spoken with them. He continued to remove the grout from the larger tiled areas and then AGAIN re grouted. I was again told I could use the shower 24 hours later. When I started to clean on Tuesday May 5, 2015 (more then 24 hrs later) there were several spots missing grout and you could still see the lighter grout he had previously claimed he had removed. So he did not remove ALL the grout and was now on the 3rd layer of grout in the mosaic areas and floor. I informed Jason and was told he would be at my house on May 8, 2015 to ?touch up? again. On May 8,2015 I didn?t hear from him so I text him at 9:42am asking when I should take my lunch to meet him. He then told me again that he was busy with something and was trying to make it by 2pm and then asking if it was ok to come out on Monday. I said no, I would rather it be done today. I'm over dealing with it. At noon I text him again asking for an update, which I never received a response to until Monday. At that time I told him I did not want him doing any more work in my house. I forwarded all the pictures of his work (missing grout, on wall and floor, destroyed base board and unlevel shower floor) Jason?s response was that he feels his work is 100% and there is nothing wrong with it, however, offered $500 to ?wipe it clean?. Jason Lester's work is far from professional. He is very unreliable, dishonest and does not warranty any of his work. I am unfortunately stuck with this show which has uneven tiles, two different colors of grout, missing grout in some sections and an uneven floor. I do not suggest using his business if you are looking for quality work.
