We did not move forward with having the work done based on our experience.
Description of Work: While I appreciate prompt attention, they first came to the home unannounced or without my knowledge that they were doing this before hand and did not provide my mother any information other than they would stop by the following Wednesday at 6. My comments are very similar to the review of another customer in 2000 so apparently they have been conducting business in this manner for 13 years. The whole process was misleading and did not address my original inquiry for someone to tarp or if possible repair the roof. i did not ask about a new roof either on my initial email or phone call and was very specific on what I wanted. I will say the salesman was knowledgable about roofing and roofing laws. He was long winded like the review from the customer in 2000 and kept focusing over and over again on the Homepwners insurance savings for 30 years, I am in the insurance business and the savings information he describes is not accurate as no insurer can or will guarantee a discount for 30 years. It can't be guaranteed period as insurance ratings and guidelines can at anytime fluctuate based on state guidelines and the company themselves filing the rates with the state. He should not be misleading customers like this nor talking about insurance rates if he is not a licensed Florida insurance agent. He also discussed financing this job through an unsecured loan. He used strong hard core selling techniques pressuring us for a decision today or the rate he gave could change in as soon as 2 weeks. He at first said he would address my original request for a tarp if that is what I want but as soon as he realized we would or could not give an answer today and wanted time to review his quotes and discuss with another family member involved, he abruptly wanted to leave, would not provide any estimate or info or the loan information in writing not even a business card. And he did not go back to what he promised in that he will make contact about the tarp on the roof I wanted an estimate on to temporarily mitigate further damage. He abruptly said thank you and have a good day. I have never experienced someone in the contracting or roofing profession conducting business in this manner and now after reading these other reviews I am not surprised,

I have a new 25 year roof.
Description of Work: Ron the salesperson makes everything seem too good, I believe his pitch might be un-ethical? most companies give you a sheet of plywood (included) not "home improvement" they charged me $560 @$7.00 a foot! to close up some unused holes and a little wood rot. In hindsight I should have used "albright" ($5400) or "old time roofing" ($6100). He also said they would take care of the unused holes in roof, GET IT IN WRITING!!!!!!!! I also filled out a credit app. to get the zero down! pay when job finished. Ron told me i could pay with credit card, finance it, or pay with check upon completion. Well Pete was there a day after they started looking for a payment, come on Ron said 0 down, pay when completed. Too much crap to write & I'd rather forget it, but they forgot about my ridge vent, while Pete was waiting for final payment, the roof looked good till they installed it! I know for sure that will leak!!!!! yeah the 10 yr. warranty I might tear this roof off & put a "gaf" lifetime one on (from above contractors). Oh, they don't like accepting credit cards either. Cleanup was good except for nails! GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING on any expensive job & don't for get about the "lien wavier" after job complete, home improvement services had a problem with this. Hold your ground "GET IT IN WRITING" and don't pay till you get "lien release". Oh and they were going to leave a broken (tore) shingle by one of my roof vent pipes, blaming it on cold weather. Give me a break!

All above work was performed satisfactorily. Cleanup was done daily and was reasonably thorough. The new roof looks very nice. But the installation was not without problems. On the second day, shingles were removed over the lanai and a hole was created in the underlying wood. They covered it with a tarp. After heavy rain that night, a section of my lanai ceiling collapsed, leaving a gaping 2+ foot hole. They promised to repair the ceiling and scheduled it for the Saturday/Sunday after the roof was completed. No one called on Saturday or Sunday to let us know they would not be able to make it. The repair was finally done during the following week. The repair was mediocre at best, leaving a noticeable indentation from the surrounding ceiling. Another section of the ceiling where the drywall tape line started to show after that rain was not addressed at all. We were left to paint the replaced area after it dried. Although we noted the problems, they did not think any additional work was needed. We gave up in frustration, tired of dealing with them. They charged me an additional $326 for replacement wood required (above the 3 sheets of plywood that were included in the original price), and could provide no information to confirm where/why this additional material was needed. I gave them a $4,000 down payment upon signing the contract, with the agreement that the balance would be paid upon completion of the work. Nevertheless, every single day of the five days they worked on the roof, plus every day prior to completing the ceiling repair, someone from the company came by to collect the full payment! I gave them a list of items I expected to be done before the final payment, including: 1. Completion of the lanai ceiling repairs 2. Sign-off on the project by the County Iinspector 3. Paperwork containing the specifications of the roof construction to provide to my insurance company 4. Information on their damage repair warranty due to 110 mph or less winds The day that the ceiling repairs were completed, they again wanted full payment. They said that everything had been provided except for the information for my insurance company. Since that would take 2-3 weeks to generate, they talked me into paying the balance. Well once they have their money, you never hear from them again. I have had no response to phone messages left at their office. It has been over a month since I gave them the final check, and I have still not recieved items 3 or 4 on my list. The County Inspector showed up 2-3 weeks after completion to do the inspection. So clearly that requirement had not been met either before they demanded payment! One of the reasons I opted for the high-end roof was in anticipation of a reduction in my homeowners' insurance. But as yet I have no documentation to provide them. So overall, although I am pleased with the new roof, the probems with bugging me for payment and failure to follow through on providing the remaining documentation that they promised would lead me to reject using this company again or recommending them to anyone. If you use this company, DO NOT give them the final payment under any circumstances untill you have received everything you expect to complete the job. Update 1/25/13: I am downgrading my overall rating of this company. The issue is not the quality of the roof work, but the follow-up on promised services. The primary reason I accepted their high-end bid was the potential of savings on my homeowners' insurance to offset the cost. Within 2-3 weeks of completion they promised to provide documentation I could send to my insurance company to verify that the construction qualified for wind damage discounts. Almost 4 months later, I'm still trying to get that inspection. They have not responded to emails or voice mail, and in direct phone calls, we've only gotten the run-around - no managers or owners ever available. I'm probably going to have to hire a contractor myself to do this inspection. There are plenty of other reputable companies out there, and the time and frustration trying to get this taken care of have left me very dissatisfied with this company.
Description of Work: I have a 2000 sq ft house plus a 2-car garage and a 10'x25' lanai under roof. The old roof was the original shingled roof installed when the house was built in 1994 (18 years old). There were no leaks or missing shingles, but 11 solar panels had previously been removed from the lanai roof and the nail holes patched with tar. The roof has several gables and a moderate slope. Their estimate included: - Remove the old shingles - Replace any bad areas with plywood (at $90 per sheet, with 3 free sheets included in base estimate of $14,950) - Nail the plywood to the base structure at 6" intervals with 4" nails - Replace the shingles with IKO asphalt shingles containing copper, which resists mold & mildew (no future cleaning/sealing) - Install vented aeration at all roof ridges - Install drainage strips at all roof valleys - Raise on area where there was poor drainage to provide proper drainage - Replace old attic vents with new ones - Reseal skylight - Clean area thoroughly of removed materials They claim that the constuction methods used will qualify me for about a 30% decrease in home insurance cost, transferrable to future owners, for 30 years. Any water damage due to winds less than 110 mph will be repaired, including materials and labor, by their company and not subject to my homeowners' insurance. Buyer beware!!!

The experience with them was positive. We were very happy. I liked their workmanship. They were very polite and everything was professionally done. Usually when you have roofing done, there’s a lot of mess around. They cleaned that up and there’s no mess at all. They do high quality work and they are professional. They cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend them. I will definitely use their services again in the future.

The salesman sure did give a long winded sales pitch. It took him two hours to look at the roof then go through his sales notebook and show us pictures of the roof. At times he was inappropriate actually asking how much my wife and I had in savings. Towards the end, his approach became more hard sell, he even said you can get the roof done and just pay us later. He wasn't forthcoming with cost saving alternatives for materials. Always showing us the most expensive materials. The final estimate for a shingle roof was $9500 which is pretty outrageous. In the end, he wouldn't give us anything in writing. I had to write down his quote on a scrap piece of paper, what a joke! So actually we didn't even end up with a real estimate, nothing in writing. And I don't believe anything that's not in writing especially all the stuff he told us about saving $400 on my homeowners insurance.

Installation went very well. The way the salesman represented the deal was very misleading. He told us he would take 9 sheets of plywood from the first price he quoted us $13,400 and then he called his boss and they gave us another discount bring our price (we thought to 12,000) however what he did not tell us (at least we did not understand it this way) was that they would add the plywood on at the end making our total 12,380.00. Then we had to obtain money from 401K and it took longer than we expected and I bet if they called me once they called me 2-3 times a day wanting their money.

During the negotiations and in dealing with them, I was told several misleading things. I was told that zero percent financing was unlawful even when I asked about my being required to maintain monthly payments and staying current. Then was offered a price for which I agreed to pay for the job completely when finished and it had passed inspection by the county, no financing, just hand them a check. They tried repeatedly to get me to pay them a portion up front after signing the contract and after removing my existing roof. I did not pay them until the day the inspector was to arrive to inspect the roof. The entire thing went from March 11, 2010 to inspection on March 19, 2010. I was told several stories to try to coerce monies from me by three separate individuals, in person and on the telephone. I did not like being told stories (the untruth of which was obvious and verifiable). I felt as if they were trying to manipulate me because I am a woman alone caring for my disabled husband (brain injury victim). The work was done quickly (possibly because I refused to pay anything until it was completed - I realize it is unusual not to pay at least some portion before a job is begun, but the entire quote process was strange from the beginning from being approached in my yard - to signing the contract. I refused to sign until I had checked them on Angie's List and by calling references. I had to ask the sales person to leave my home because I was not going to sign until I had done some reference checks. The $600 save on the add-on was the result of another contractor with whom I was getting a quote on a screen room. To date, I still have not received the paperwork for my insurance or tax information. Overall, I like the roof. I think the price was good but the overall experience soured very quickly and I don't know when to expect the paperwork they promised to fill out for my insurance (wind mitigation reports, etc.) and taxes. Beware, put it in writing and hold your ground if you deal with this company. The work was exceptional. The workers were quiet (as possible for roofers), no loud talking, no harsh or crude language and they did the job efficiently. One day for removal, one day for repairs and one for installation of the roof. The clean up was good since there are always nails and debris after a roofing job but they kept the area relatively neat and cleaned it twice without me asking. (First clean up was after dark.) Both work crews were polite and hard working. I fed both crews (because I wanted to) and gave each worker a tip (again because I wanted to). Times are hard and I heard not one word that I wouldn't want to come from my mother's mouth. Now if I could just get the paperwork for my insurance.
Description of Work: They removed my existing shingle roof and replaced it with a metal roof after repairing the underneath areas that needed to be repaired. They tried to add on an additional charge for removing the roof of $600.00 because they said there were two layers of shingles to be removed. It was true but I did not accept the additional charges because the guy was on my roof no less than three separate times in doing the estimate and I was advised not to accept the charges because the mistake was theirs. The original estimate was $17,100 including the permit plus materials and labor if more than 2 sheets of 4x8 plywood were required to make repairs. Final total was $17,850. $90.00 per sheet of plywood, $7.00 per foot of 2x4. A good quality underlayment, removal of existing roof, and debris removal. I believe the hip roof was estimated at just over 2700 sf.

They did a good job. They came right away and did what they promised to do. They worked very hard, and we were concerned because there was a hole in the roof that might let rain in. But they worked fast to prevent us from having rain damage. They gave us a fifteen year warranty which transfers with the owner of the house which is nice.

Workers showed up early the next day after we signed a contract at 6pm the evening before. Because the roof leaked and we were worried about the next rain storm, this was important. The work was done quickly and well. That said, in their eagerness to demolish the old roof, tile pieces went flying and ripped a hole in lanai screening and damaged pool heater piping. The company made good repairs to each and did a fine job cleaning up stains on driveway caused by debris.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. ENTIRE BACK SIDE OF HOME ROOF WAS REMOVED AND REPLACED TWICE DUE TO EXPOSED NAIL HEADS, ROWS NOT STRAIGHT, EXHAUST VENT REMOVED AND NOT REPLACED AND PLYWOOD CLIPS NOT USED. COMPANY WAS FINED BY HILLSBOROUGH CO. THE CLEANUP JOB WAS HORRIBLE. WE PICKED UP HUNDREDS OF NAILS AND OTHER ROOFING DEBRIS FROM OUR YARD AFTER THEY WERE FINISHED. WORKERS THREW THEIR LUNCH TRASH BEHIND OUR STORAGE SHED. WE PAID FOR THREE EXTRA BUNDLES OF SHINGLES, BUT NEVER GOT THEM.

I feel like the man misrepresented his company. He told us they had long term retention of employees, like 15-16 years. The employees we had were not English speaking, and did not seem to have been with the company long. The foreman was also a very young man. They were very polite and kind, and seemed to work quietly and well. They did some damage to a Fiberglas deck roof, and it took 4 weeks of calling to get them to fix it. I spoke with a woman named Rebbecca at her office, and she started yelling at me for their employees not doing their work correctly. They also damaged other things, and they never reimbursed me for materials that I had to purchase for them to replace things they had broken. Now, they do not return phone calls, and my roof has yet to pass final inspection. The owner of the company also refuses to return my calls. They still need to re-install a rain sensor that they had installed incorrectly and reimburse me for the Fiberglas panels that I bought.

Horrendeous! First when they fixed the roof they drove nails right through the ceiling wrecking the ceiling. They fixed it but then didn't tell us that there was a potential for the gutters to overflow and leak underneath the roof so they first rain we had the roof POURED water into our room (under the covering AND through the nail marks). Although someone promptly came out he scolded us for not knowing that we have to keep our gutters completely clear of leaves. Then they stopped returning our phone calls to come and repair it. Their only fix was to then cover the gutters. We had them do that but now the rain just pools under the roof. Orginially we told them we were going to file a suit against them for not repairing our damage to the ceiling. Numerous calls and inspections later (every time we had an inspector come out and discuss options I would call to find out that that person had been fired or moved on in the company so we were at square one again). We finally, a YEAR later, got to talk with the owner of the company who paid our lowest estimate to repair the ceiling.
Description of Work: Our small additional flat roof was leaking and they came out with an estimate to repair it.

Communication was difficult because I don't speak Spanish & couldn't always understand the one who spoke broken English. Warm weather didn't improve the situation & we called the company 6-7 times before they sent someone to check the roof (The same crew that installed it). The only comment from them was that, they "could do nothing about it." A contractor, for another job, found a 2-1/2 inch piece of the aluminum eaves drip under one building shingle & bent nails under several others. Some appear to have been placed too close together so that they bulged as warmer weather expanded them. The above mentioned Contractor was to replace a rotted fascia board which Home Improvement Services said was not included in the "Replace rotted wood" clause of our contract. It is not considered "roof". We finally got an inspector from the County Building Dept to re-inspect the job & he is going to contact Home Improvement Services. Further action pending.
Description of Work: Removal of old shingles & replaced with new shingles. Remove & replace rotted wood. The crew arrived promptly, worked diligently & finished the job in 2 days. On completion we noticed the shingles weren't laying flat. We questioned this & were assured that they would flatten out with warmer weather.

GET EVERY LITTLE DETAIL IN WRITING. WE DIDN'T GET THEIR PERSONAL 30 YEAR WARRANTY AS PROMISED BY SALESMAN, JEFF RAYL. WE JUST WANT THEM TO DO WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. ALSO, IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ROOF ON THE SCREENED AREA THAT THEY WALKED ON.
Description of Work: I WAS NOT SATISFIED. THEY SAID THEY GAVE A 30 YEAR WARRANTY AND DID NOT. THEY WANTED TO BE PAID WHILE WORKERS WERE STILL ON ROOF. THEY DID NOT COME BACK TO INSPECT OR SPEAK WITH ME AND I WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH THE WORKERS BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. The salesmans presentation was very good. He showed us his references and materials. He came across as very professional. But when it came done to getting the job done, the work was not done when scheduled, the cabinet top was not complete in the shop but was brought in "raw" and assembled in my condos hallway! The fronts and tops look ok but the border, finishing & edging was never done. They answered the first call and promised this and that, then began not showing up! I tried to reach them for 4 months, and still they have not returned my phone calls! I had to pay a home maintenance guy $250 to finish the job!
