Mohammad spent twenty six minutes at my home shaking his head as to why the old existing truss system was done the way it was fifty years ago. His analysis was he wouldn’t touch the job, but gave us the name of another engineer that possibly could help us. He wanted me to pay him $250 an hour for his non-advice. I refused to pay him for coming out to tell me nothing. As he was leaving, he said if I’m not paying him do not call the referral he gave me. I had not intended to use any one this man would recommend. He has since filed a small claim suit against me.
Description of Work: We needed a structural engineer opinion on whether an existing roof could be vaulted and what reinforcement would be required. This is for a residential house.

EMA was condescending and rude. I emailed them for information and pricing. Their quote for consulting and providing papers for permitting was $2,250, triple the price of what multiple contractors told me it would cost to ACTUALLY remove the wall ($750). I was surprised. I thought for sure they thought I was a big commercial place or it was a bigger job than it was, so I emailed back to confirm. Their response was awful, condescending and really rude. Here are the emails word for word: Hello, I'm trying to find a structural engineer to tell me if a wall in my home is load bearing or not, and if it can safely be removed. Do you do that kind of work? I'm in Clearwater, FL, and I'm having a really hard time trying to find a professional to look at it. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. All the best, (my name) ________________ Yes, we do this type of structural work. The engineer visit will be billed at $750.00 and if we need to do any calculations and prepare plans for permits it will be additional $1500.00 Maria Kalim EMA Structural Forensic Engineers ________________ Oh wow. Just to look at the wall and attic space in my little house? That seems like a lot. I mean, it would probably only take 30 minutes, if that, for a pro to take a look. All the best, (my name) ________________ Engineers don't come to your house for free. You shall look for a Chinese one or some bonded labor. ________________
Description of Work: I wanted to remove a partial wall dividing my living room and kitchen, and I needed to know if it was load-bearing or not.
