Waited a week for appt. because he had a bad knee. Told him I had a new fan I needed to have installed and a part in another fan. He asked me a lot of questions, what was wrong with the fans etc. I told him the high speed in both fans were not working. He said he might just have a part in his truck to get the fan I was replacing working again. Well, that part didn't work and the replacement part in the other fan didn't work, He suggested I get 2 new fans..duh..the fan he was supposed to install is sitting right there in front of him. When I pointed that out he mumbled something about his knee and when I got the other fan to call him. I asked him when that time would be since he needed his knee to install my fan ?? He quickly said he would install both fans as soon as I called him. I think he wasted my time and his time with that "part" he had in his truck that didn't work and needed to get on to his next appointment. So to heck with installing my fan which I hired him to do in the first place. On top of all this he charged me $130. Don't waste your time or money thinking you are getting a "master" electrician...one that needs his knee to install your fan.

Response from Duncanson Electric Co
7 April 2020: You did not hire me to assemble and hang a fan. I knew could not do that with my knee as it was, and right up front I would have referred you to someone who could. You hired me to swap out a part you had purchased for your old fan. That part did not get it working. And parts were not even available for your other fan which I knew not of, that you wanted replaced. I see you are displeased. And if you feel a refund is what you need, please let me know. That is an unfortunate situation we got into. -- Joe 8 April 2020: [Member Name Removed], I called 4 times yesterday to suggest we try this. There is a possible solution to your fan situation. But there was no way to even leave you a message. That $30 part you ordered may still be made to work. And with your permission, I would return for free to try this last possible solution. No charge. No strings attached. I didn't like the previous outcome any more than you did. We both would be happier if this worked. So, I have emailed you and left this message here for you. It's up to you. Please let me know.

I called Joe and described the job, and he showed up the next day to do the work. This was a very complicated job, and required a lot of sleuthing to figure out how to remove the intercom system that was wired throughout the house. Joe has been our electrician for many years, and always knows what to do, and does it quickly.
Description of Work: Joe removed our antiquated intercom systems, including two huge control boxes, and seven intercom boxes. He also rerouted the 120 power from the controller box to a new outlet to power a new doorbell.

The problems with the work are as follows: ? unauthorized work in the living room ? non-working fixture in the dining room ? non-working fixtures in foyer, due to breaker shutoff for dining room switch When I originally contacted Joe, I wanted him to do two things and two things only: hang a new chandelier in the foyer and hang a chandelier in the dining room. He told me that because a new hole had to be cut in the dining room, that he did not think that work could be done until the fall, due to the heat in the attic. Somehow, he under the impression that I wanted him to move the light outlet in the living room to a new location. Since I did not even have a fixture for the living room, it made no sense to install a new outlet. I thought that we were discussing the possibility of putting in a new outlet in the living room at some point in the future. Before I knew it, he had pulled the wires out of the ceiling, as well as a long metal piece, which was missing after he left. He told me that I might as well move the outlet because it would take him just as long to redo what he had undone. The actual work of him pulling out the wires in an attempt to move them was not authorized. The second issue is that the dining room chandelier did not work. He told me that the problem was with the fixture and that I needed to take it to a lighting shop and have it rewired. Per his instructions, I took the chandelier to a lighting shop and they said that there was nothing wrong with the wiring. The wiring did not short out at their shop. They further told me that the breaker should be shut off. Unfortunately, by switching that breaker off, now the foyer light and the lamp in the foyer do not work, since they are on the same switch as the dining room light.
Description of Work: Install new fixtures, move old fixtures.
