We highly recommend DeGeorge Ceilings. DeGeorge has exceeded our expectations a second time! The first time they transformed our porch with a bead board ceiling and new ceiling fans. The people that worked on the project were pleasant, skilled, and knowledgeable. The beginning of this year we again called DeGeorge for our kitchen and bathrooms because we were so pleased with the quality of work. We were not disappointed. Several of the crew sent to the house had been there on the porch project two years previously and maintained the same level of professionalism. The new workers were equally skilled and competent. Bob assured us we would love our new kitchen and bathroom ceilings and he came through again. Everyone we had contact with we felt comfortable having them in our home and we are so pleased with the work completed.

My experience has been amazing from start to finish. DeGeorge was a last-minute request for bid that I had low hopes for, as every other company told me I needed to have the tile removed, and even perhaps a new subfloor. My perception was that they were a more-costly option in providers. I was wrong. Bob came in, listened, and suggested alternatives that are both beautiful and within my budget. I ended up with less mess and stress, a beautiful new floor, and at less cost than either of the other 2 quotes. The installer, Norberto, was professional, friendly, considerate and helpful. he said he'd worked for the company for 5 years. which is a lifetime in this industry. He finished quickly, and left the work area very clean. When I am able, I will use DeGeorge on every other project in this house.

Job #1 - kitchen and family room - 8/2011; We were very concerned about the new wood flooring withstanding two very active dogs but were assured it would hold up. We were also told it could be sanded and refinished if need be. Having had that process done with our previous wood floor, we wanted to make sure if needed it could be done. It is severely scratched now, and we tried to hire a contractor last week to sand it, finish and seal it. Turns out the wood is much too thin to withstand the process, which is not what we were told when we chose the wood. We would not have selected that wood if we had known it could not be sanded in the future. Job #2 - 4/2012 small bathroom -replaced counter top and cabinet. - no issues Job #3 - 1/2014 - master bathroom and other small bathroom. Job was delayed because the new vanity/cabinet they made for master bath was too large due to incorrect measurements. When the job was begun the old cabinets were removed and pipes sealed off - or so we thought. They installed the new cabinets....and we started to see wet carpet. We did not know what it was from. It turned out to be out a pipe leaking behind the new cabinets and our whole guest room carpet was saturated along with part of the master bedroom carpet. Had to call a plumber at 10 pm (arrived at midnight) to come out and help us figure it out. He isolated the problem, took care of the pipe, and the next day DeGeorge came and pulled up the carpet and pad from the affected areas. Had to replace the carpet in the adjacent guestroom. When they did finally finish installing the cabinets in the master bath, several drawers did not close properly and the doors were not aligned. Another installer from the company had to come and spend several hours fixing them. Also - we had decided not to replace tile in the master bath because we liked the color - but the grout was white. They suggested painting the grout which their tile expert had never done before our job. We did want the white tile replaced in our shower - so they suggested small glass tiles be placed over the existing ceramic tiles. We were concerned that painting grout and putting tile over tile were not usual processes, but since we are not experts we went along with it. Another alarming thing about DeGeorge is you never know when they will be at your house. The first job was supposed to take a week but took 2 + weeks including Saturdays. You never knew who was coming to do what and when. There were whole days when no one showed up. We took time off of work....when no one showed up. You could not get a straight answer from anyone -or else they turfed you around to different people. They lost our folder at one point in time when they tried to check the contract....The third job also took 2 weeks... Additionally, in order to begin constructing cabinets, DeGeorge asks for 50% down on signing the contract. That seems high to us. They were also looking for final payment on the third job before they finished it - which is not how the contract reads. We would NEVER recommend DeGeorge to anyone. They have very poor communication and tell you incorrect information. We were shocked when we saw them on this list. Their company was what prompted us to join Angie's List in the first place. We would highly recommend Angie's list as a good source for contractors - but not this one.
Description of Work: three jobs over the course of three years: three bathrooms and kitchen/family room. in all bathrooms replaced cabinetry and counters; master bath included new tile in shower and painting existing grout. kitchen/family room included cabinetry, counter and flooring.

They came on time, they worked all day and cleaned up inside and out daily. They were very professional, they were friendly and paid close attention to every detail. They had put in our custom kitchen 10 years ago and replaced a molding that I charred with the toaster oven without any additional cost. The lead professional Nester was fantastic. The one thing that impressed me is they came on time. They worked a full day. They came every day till the job was completed. No phone calls or endless wait time to have our job completed. Even worked on Sat.
Description of Work: Removed old wood flooring, tile, and carpeting. They replaced it with the new vinyl composite flooring. We had a moister issue and they were very good at making sure the correct barrier was applied to ensure no water issues. They did our entire condo. They put in new base boards to complete the look. Condo is a 1000 sq. ft.

The ceiling went fine. The fan they installed didn't work, it just shakes constantly because it was the wrong kind of fan. They said they would replace it with a better one that would work. I have been calling every two weeks but no satisfaction. Bob, the owner was to call me back, but he never did. Gary promised to call me back on Monday, 11/20/2014 and never heard from him either.

What a pleasure it was doing business with Bob Miano & his staff. I have an extremely busy work schedule, yet they were always great at communicating & available to meet my schedule needs. I felt very comfortable having their workers in my home, as they were all very professional & really seemed to care about me, the client. They finished on schedule & left me with a dream kitchen, that I have received nothing but wonderful compliments on. I look forward to coming home each night & speding time entertaining in my beautiful kitchen.

If contemplating using DeGeorge Ceilings, Flooring and Cabinets I would suggest you do your research of all the negative reviews that this company and it's president and vice-president have listed against them. The work is shoddy, they don't show up, they misappropriate your money, they simply do not care. We have been living in our house for the last 9 months on May 4, 2014 without a kitchen. The only thing that I asked Bobby Miano and Jackie Tyler was that I wanted the project finished by Christmas 2013. Easter just passed and we still do not have a kitchen. We will need to go with another company and start at square one, but this time we will not be dealing with scam artists, liars and cheats. When we undertook this project it was with the greatest joy and it has turned into one major nightmare. We never imagined there could be individuals such as Bobby Miano & Jackie Tyler. They will need to return all of our money, because I will take this to whomever will resolve this matter.
Description of Work: Misappropriated a total of $32,155.00 given to me by Castle a Key a Insurance for water damage we had in our kitchen. Bobby Miano and Jackie Tyler deposited the funds into a personal account and used all of the money, but unfortunately not on my kitchen. We signed a contract with DeGeorge on March 29, 2013 and by the end of April they had spent all of the funds. After much insistence they had the kitchen demolition done on 9/4/2013 but to date we still do not have a kitchen. There are doors missing, panels, shelves, handles, the panels and handles for my SubZero, the granite has to be reinstalled because these people work without plans or blueprints. They promise all sorts of things and never come thru. We have had continuous discussions, arguments, meetings, and more arguments, and nothing had come out of this. We hired a lawyer, and Bobby lied and cheated his way out of things with the lawyer. He is a true professional con artist. Mr. Miano is not a trust worthy individual. F-F-F

To start with, we already had bamboo flooring installed 6 years ago in our family room, which opens on to the areas mentioned above that we now wanted to redo. The color of the installed floor had lightened over the 6 years, making finding an exact match to the new flooring difficult. Our Rep, Neil, did an awesome job of scouring all suppliers until he found an exact match. The removal of the tile was messy, lots of dust, but the crew kept it under control, cleaning up constantly as the demolition occurred. The lead installer, Nestor, did an awesome job of weaving the new planks into the existing floor, one would never know it wasn't all done at the same time. The finished job is beautiful, and I highly recommend DeGeorge for any ceiling, tile work, or flooring. DeGeorge also installed a tumbled stone backsplash in my kitchen 6 or 7 years ago and it still looks beautiful today.

On the day they were supposed to come start the work, they called saying they couldn't come and never called back. I did meet with a salesman Neil Hargas at Lowe's but did not like the fixtures he showed me. I called back and asked to speak to the owner and she did get on the phone with me. Finally, Jackie came and spent two hours with me in December. She did not give me a last name but said she was an accountant and a co-owner. She brought several catalogs for the lighting. I asked to delay the work until after the holidays. When I called after Christmas, said she hadn't done anything with the lighting. Within about 5 minutes I called her back and said I'd like to cancel the work and get my deposit back. This was in the middle of the week and she said she "checks go out on Friday." That was last month and I called back several times to remind them to send the check out and I have not ever received it.
Description of Work: I hired them in October to install a new tray ceiling in the kitchen with lighting as well as new tray ceiling and new lighting fixture in the bathroom. I was supposed to purchase the lighting fixture in the bathroom. I gave them deposit of $1,200 on 10/8/13.

After visiting the beautiful showroom and meeting with the owner Robert Miano, we decided to select their company for our home project. We had interviewed 5 other businesses and decided to go with DeGeorge. The design team at DeGeorge was full of great innovative ideas and had the most beautiful selection of materials that we have ever seen. Three days after signing the contract the staff came to our home to perform exact measurements. We were told the project would start in approximate 6-8 weeks, in which they were accurate and started in 6 weeks. The personnel that worked at our home was both professional and courteous. After each work day the technicians cleaned out after themselves beautifully and it was a pleasure having them at our home. The project finished on time and we are now the envy of our neighbors. It looks magnificent. We would recommend this company to anyone and plan to use them in future projects.

Terrible! BUYER BEWARE!!! This company advertises every week in the local newsparer. They promise 30% off of all work and services. The problem is getting them out to do the work. They make you pay 50 % upfront. Repeated appointments had to be cancelled or rescheduled because the right workmen did not show up. Repeated calls to the owner, Bob Miano, yieilded little results. After a month of fighting to get them out to our home they came out and installed the light box in the kitchen with a fan but the fan blade kept hitting the molding and it took repeated calls to get them to come out and fix the fan. We finally cancelled the remaining 2 fan installation we ordered because we just could not put up with the terrible service. This was the worst experience I have ever had with any workmanship done in my home.

Work started in June of 2013, with majority to be done by 29Oct, our move in date. Needless to say this did not happen. Many days job was not manned, supplies were not ordered or delivered on time for installers, and the CYPRESS ceiling turns out to be knotty and clear pine, two differing shades of finish. At one point they had to rip down half the wood on ceiling. Had to hire a carpenter to finish the work. Tile was installed, but needed to rehire a tile installer to correct errors on grout. Some tiles installed against the grain ($5/sf tile that is directional). Many hollow spots under tile that translate to poor job of installation. Entire job was a comedy of errors, cost me too much for quality of work, and did not give me what I contracted for. The only saving grace is I fired them, banned them from my property, and was able to obtain lien releases from all of their suppliers. This was, without a doubt, the WORST contracting experience I have ever had.

Our kitchen cabinets are just over 1 year old and the bird's eye maple cabinet doors are already beginning to warp & crack. Our kitchen remodel was completed by DeGeorge in August of 2012. Just over one year after the installation, the bird's eye maple face of pantry doors have completely warped and cracked. Also, all of the other bird's eye maple panels on all of the other cabinet doors have also started to crack and warp. After multiple phone calls and e-mails and a missed appointment, Mr. Miano and finally came out to look at the cabinets. He then sent his foreman out a couple of weeks later. They foreman said that he was going to speak with Mr. Miano and that they would figure out what to do. That was weeks ago, and none of our phone calls or e-mails have been returned since. After spending $60,000 with DeGeorge, I expected a better lever of customer service and I expected them to stand behind their work. Why does Mr. Miano not stand behind his company's workmanship? I wish I could ask him, but he won't call me back.

This was a horrible experience. Sometimes the workers showed up at 830, sometimes noon, and at 200 just to measure. They once left on a Thursday at 130 and did not return until the following Wednesday. We were told the materials were in before the project started so we did not understand why we had to wait each day and prolong the project. I requested the same crew each day. With the exception of a 2 day period, there was a different crew in our home every day. We were also told several times the project would be completed on Friday the 16th, prior to guests coming in for Thanksgiving. The house was a mess when the guests arrived. Do not trust the "nice sell". They will agree to anything to get the job, but once they have your money and your house in a shambles, you are on your own.

Contract signed in Sept. Work to be done by Thanksgiving. Nothing done for weeks. I asked that deposit be returned and we start the process in the spring. The next day (Nov. 2) they were here to do the demolition. Then nothing was done for weeks. Calls not returned. In December, I was told that the tile was on back order. They installed beautiful wooden ceilings in the bathrooms to compensate for the problem. Christmas came, no bathrooms. They had to install a temporary bathroom for company I had coming to visit. Tile arrived Jan. 8. It still took 3 months to finish the bathrooms. My advice to anyone hiring this company is to make sure you have a detailed contract and all supplies on site before demolition is ever started. The bathrooms are gorgeous but took far too long to complete.

The finished product is beautiful ... lots of lighting and quality workmanship, Karina, the architect is a delight to work with. She was my go to person towards the end of the project. I am the first to admit the experience was extremely frustrating as there were communication problems. No one seemed to know when workmen were coming, or when the job would be worked on and no one (until I connected with Karina) would return my calls to discuss my project. I waited day after day for workmen to arrive and the only ones that did arrive on schedule were the tradesmen (plumber, electrician, drywaller). If they had been honest with me regarding the delay it would have eased my stress over the renovation. I gather they were having growing pains as they suddenly had more work than anticipated. What made it worthwhile is the end product. My kitchen is beautiful. Bob's ideas on the kitchen layout worked perfectly. Kenny (their installer) was a joy to be around, funny, hardworking and dedicated to the company. The tradesman were pleasant and I would use them again if I ever needed a plumber or electrician.
Description of Work: DeGeorge began remodelling my kitchen on October 1 and completed it the beginning of December 2012. They totally redid my kitchen, replacing the cupboards, installed quartz countertops, added cork flooring and redid my dated Florida ceiling.

We at De George pride ourselves on 100% customer satisfaction. If this customers floor is scratching due to normal wear and tear this may be a manufacturing warranty issue. If so, I look forward to helping with a resolution. As customer mentioned the installation process was excellent.

I have a home recording studio which needed an a ceiling that could absorb reflections so I contracted with DeGeorge to install an the ceiling. When Robert came out he suggested I also add recessed can lights instead of the track lighting I had installed... also suggested I go ahead and do the back and two side walls with an acoustic material since it would provide more coverage. I told him the room was sealed (it was built from the ground up to be a studio - double walls, suspended on rails, acoustic caulk and sealed electrical boxes) and that I wanted to make sure the can lights would be able to be sealed. He said they could created boxes around the lights and seal them so I shouldn't worry. I agreed. The contract was signed March 13th and the work began April 26th. Originally this was supposed to take 3 to 5 days to install the ceiling plus maybe 7 days to install the walls and about two to three weeks time for materials and fabricating off site. Imagine my frustration when the project finally wrapped over 120 days after the contract was signed. There were MANY excuses, mistakes & lack of communication along the way on their part. Like other customers have reported here I went a long time with a half completed room and no contact from DeGeorge, despite many calls and emails. Finally, at the end of July when we wrapped up I noticed my room was a little warm but it was mid-summer and it was hotter than usual outside so I thought nothing of it. Then I got an error message on my thermostat for the AC unit. Called an AC company to fix - nothing was wrong, they said. Then I started seeing condensation around the air vents more and more. Had the thermostat replaced because of a persistent humidity error message. Then the newly replaced thermostat began displaying the same error so I called a different AC company who was also certified on my brand of AC unit; they thoroughly checked the system and said it was functioning properly but that hot, humid air was leaking into the room. They could not pinpoint an exact area without further investigation but were concerned with the amount of condensation on my air vents. I called DeGeorge to come take a look - when they removed the air vents they noticed they were not even sealed so they taped them and left; this didn't solve the problem. They came back out a second time for about 20 minutes and stuffed insulation around the vents; this also did not solve the problem and I told them that it wouldn't before they even tried. Now it's been two months since their last visit and I can't get them to fix the problem or even return my calls and emails. I originally asked them to bring an infrared camera to pinpoint the heat leak instead of guessing, I have mentioned hiring a third party leak detection company and I have given them my theory and the AC company's theory as to where the heat is originating (the recessed cans are not properly sealed in the ceiling, allowing attic air into the room). No action, no reply to my last emails and no returned phone call. My AC runs constantly to keep up, water drips on my floor from all 4 vents and my room smells like a musty, stuffy attic every time I open the door. The screws holding up the air vents have rusted and the ceiling tile is showing signs of water stains. I have very expensive, very sensitive electronic equipment in this room and need a resolution quickly to prevent possible damage. It's important to note that prior to DeGeorge's improper installation I didn't have any of these problems in the room. I have requested several times for them to fix their mistake. When they failed to properly identify the problem I hired an inspector to precisely pinpoint the defect. The inspectors professional conclusion matched my theory; the 11 recessed can boxes were not properly installed or sealed. The material DeGeorge used around the air vents, which did not resolve the problem, was also apparently used on the boxes. The inspector found this to be improper and ineffective material for this type of installation. His recommendation was to remove the ceiling tile around all recessed boxes, pull the boxes out of the ceiling, seal them with the correct material, re-insert them in the ceiling, apply an appropriate sealant and re-install the acoustic ceiling tiles. I'm willing to allow DeGeorge to perform the repair but I will not let them take their sweet time doing it. I ask is that, due to the incompetence exhibited thus far, the work be evaluated and approved by the inspector prior to the final stage of completion (after the boxes are installed but before the ceiling tile is replaced over them). If DeGeorge does not feel they have the desire or ability to perform the work, I ask that they pay for a third party company recommended to me by the inspector to complete the repair. In either case, since they failed to diagnose the defect, DeGeorge should also pay for the inspection. When I complained to DeGeorge about the amount of time it took to complete the job, the fact that I was quoted for 12 can lights but only 11 would fit and that they had their workers run the electric instead of a licensed electrical company they reduced my bill by $500. At that time I had no idea the work had been done improperly or I would not have paid them. How dare I expect quality work, right? I highly caution anyone from using this company. Not only for their inability to perform quality work but for their lack of time management and complete disregard for customer service. Even the workers didn't know when they'd be back next. At the end of the day I'd say, 'so tomorrow at 8am?' and they'd say, 'oh I don't know - maybe.' Not only have they not communicated with me but they won't even respond to my attorney a week after being contacted. This is a total mess. If you decide to take a risk and use them I recommend having an inspector on hand throughout the process and I can't stress enough that you have a firm, legally defined deadline built into your agreement. Otherwise you'll be out of your space, your time and your money. But why take the risk? Choose a different company.

We purchased a home in Pinellas County that was built in the 1950's so we wanted to update our kitchen and breakfast nook. After researching dozens of local companies and interviewing many we decided on using DeGeorge for our project. The owner, Bob, was very informative and helpful in answering our many questions and concerns. He was very patient and understood this was a big step for us. After reviewing the plans he presented to us, we made some minor adjustments and decided to move forward with DeGeorge. They showed up when scheduled, were courteous in our home and worked very hard. They even took the time to clean up their mess as they worked. They were a pleasure to have in our home. Our new kitchen looks great! We've hosted several parties and get nothing but rave reviews and compliments from our family and friends. We highly recommend this company and will use them in the future.
Description of Work: New kitchen (cabinets, counter tops and lighting)
My kitchen is now GORGEOUS! It is modern, high-end and looks larger and brighter. Working with the owner, Bob Miano, the design concept was established. Bob is very creative and while I had an overall plan, his ideas were what brought a truly wow quality to the room. A glass tile backsplash was the beginning, as I had envisioned, but putting it on the entrance/archway was one of Bob's custom touches that makes my kitchen unique and "out-of-sight". The granite is exceptional and the cherrywood cabinets and paneling are truly high quality. All of the people involved in this effort were professionals who seemed to take pride in their workmanship and did the little extra's not required, but which made all the difference in the finished product. Any little glitches were rectified in a timely manner.Remodeling, not usually a process one looks forward to, is something I would do again with this company because I know the end product would be exceptional. Overall it was a fun experience!
