The first issue was that the worker was cutting the tiles with his heavy machinery on the front walkway. I told him this wasn't permitted, and that he should be doing it downstairs. I offered use of the lanai, as I just had an outlet installed (one thing that did go well.) Instead, after walking away and subsequently returning, I discovered that he brought the saw into the bathroom, and since there was no outlet installed in the bathroom yet he decided to move my bureau and use the outlet behind. At one point I saw him taping up the drawers with blue tape, as he said the drawers were opening when he moved the bureau. Again I told him to bring it out to the lanai, but he said he was almost done and I let him finish. The bureau has sticky tape on it that will need to be corrected. Someone had to come back two additional times to fix problems with the tiles and the grouting. From a company who did terrific work with my kitchen two years ago, this project was a total disaster. If I had another 30K I would have someone rip out the entire thing and start over.

Absolutely every step of the way I felt I was having my hand held and explained precisely what I could expect. I had no idea that would include a custom shelf (thank you Robert!) in my new shower! The flooring men were sensational and personable, it was like having family and friends in my home working.
Description of Work: updated my master bathroom including all new tile and shower footprint, All new flooring throughout my home. I chose a floating floor and I love it! The best part of all the work done for me from this Company is not only Mark Kirby (Sales etc), but all of the workers as well. What a great group of professional and caring people. I cannot say enough about this Company I would highly recommend and would use again in a heartbeat.

The provider did the counter tops in granite when we remodeled our kitchen. They are quite nice, but they did not have enough of the granite and had to find it elsewhere which caused a delay. What bothers me the most is that they were quite pleased to do these counter tops, but after calling and stopping by a total of three times, they would not even come to give us an estimate for a smaller job. We will go elsewhere for the next kitchen.

They did a fantastic job for us. Mark and his team have tiled most of our house at one time or another in the past, and we would not hesitate to call them again or recommend them. Their prices are fair (not the cheapest) and the quality of their work is excellent. They help with the design and material selection, and follow through on what they say they're going to do. Please consider them for your installation.

First, I'm PICKY. I'm ANAL. I CAN be VERY difficult to work with. Let me say that after working with Mark Kirby, Hossein, Paul and the staff at Countryside Tile, as well as all the great folks at RCarr Plumbing, Greg, Joe, Walt, Justin, et al, I will NEVER use anyone else for a TILE JOB or a SHOWER CONVERSION in this area. My (almost) 85 year old mother, had reached a point where despite numerous "on the fly" modifications she could no longer get her foot up over the last 5 inches of her tub. EVEN with multiple caregiver's assistance. She DESPERATELY needed a walk in shower. The problem? Mom has MANY medical issues and the bathroom is a very crowded space. (Her entire "condo" (i.e. small villa) is only 600 sq. feet and with only one bathroom getting the tub out FAST while leaving Mom access to the ONLY toilet was key. Both Mom and I have owned SEVERAL properties and I have gone the "handy man route" over the years. For this job, SPEED, and having it permitted so EVERYthing passed code down the road was a KEY consideration. No. Countryside Tile was NOT the cheapest. (Hence, the "B" for Price on this rating.) But the EASE with which I was ABLE to work with these folks, really gave me the LOWEST total cost. Mom's constant refrain to me, was "HOW are they going to get that tub out of there without making a BIG MESS and it taking FOREVER?" (We/She/I had done these sorts of things before, "Handy Men", etc.). Paul arrived on a Mon. at 9:10 A.M. and the tub was outside on the back lot and out of a VERY cramped space, WITHOUT removing the toilet ALL in FOUR AND ONE HALF HOURS. (I timed it to the minute.) But the most impressive thing was they DID this withOUT having to "pull the toilet" which MANY concerns including "handy men" WOULD have. Further, Mark promised me she would be using the shower on Friday (depending on inspections). The shower WAS (indeed) BEAUTIFUL and READY to USE on FRIDAY, just as promised!!! But there is MORE!!! I/we had selected LARGE tile to make the shower, bathroom LOOK MUCH BIGGER. However, I THOUGHT that it should be laid "Horizontal Brick Style" just like the kitchen. PAUL the technician and installer with NEARLY 30 years in the business "tactfully" (but firmly) suggested NOT doing that, because the odd cut pieces would make the overall design look too "busy". I am SO happy I listened to PAUL. He laid everything perfectly symmetrical and the new walk in shower looks FABULOUS!!! Still MORE. Many of the tile companies I talked to, were "handy man" type concerns, and either couldn't or wouldn't return phone calls. The larger tile companies who DID quote this job ALL refused to tile up to a Kohler style shower base I acquired at Lowe's. (For the purpose of RCarr installing). Countryside and RCarr plumbing were the ONLY firms that DIDN'T TRY to UPSELL ME INTO moving the drain to the center AND BUILDING a tile Shower Base. This was a purchase that would have added 1500 to the job and one I (and a builder consultant I used) truly did NOT feel was necessary! When I showed Mark what "they" were doing, and I tried to get Mark to quote his that way, he tactfully suggested not to go this route, because "they're just trying to upsell you and you don't need it." Please understand. My mother's place is beautiful. Very beautiful. But I didn't think we needed it either. In short, I'm so glad I listened to Mark, Paul, and Countryside Tile. Will never work with anyone else. P.S.: ALOT of little things....too. I specifically asked Countryside who picked up Mom's "Kohler" Shower base at Lowe's to be SURE and get me one with METAL Bands. (So I would know the crate had not been tampered with. When I showed up to inspect it at the warehouse before the job, warehouse manager shows me the unit with metal bands (from his smartphone) being loaded on Countryside's truck at Lowe's.)
Description of Work: Removed existing Tub, and tile, installed Kohler shower pan, tore out existing tile and replaced with all new 9x12 tile. RCarr Plumbing installed new valve, shower head, and Premier 192053 hand held, with 3 way Moen valve. (i.e. some call a "diverter") so shower or hand held or BOTH could be on simultaneously. (Pulled permit through Safety Harbor.)

I cannot emphasize enough how terrific this company is. They always came when they said and did wonderful work. Mark, Jossein, and in particular Gordon are absolute gems. Where else in FL do you get a call that someone will be there in 3 minutes...and they are!
Description of Work: First they tiled the kitchen as part of out renovation, then they performed emergency repair work on our shower pan.
Cut carpet before laying tile, then tile and carpet didn't meet. Installer was cutting 1/4 tiles across 18' of living room due to not dry laying the tile first (used whole tiles at front door and then needed to cut tiles at living room entrance). I was critized for stopping this process by owner of Countryside Tile and charged for the tile removal and carpet repair. Owner of CST said, " Just as you talk about the men, they talk about you." I felt so disrespected. Floor was not leveled as stated on contract and large format tiles were not layed according to maufactural recommendations. They put thinset only on the back of each tile and nothing on surface base. My contract says only specialized Epoxy grout and Countryside Tile installed inexpensive cement grout instead of Epoxy. When I came home early and saw this being done, they carved a channel out of each wet grout line with pencils saying they would top it off with Epoxy the next day. Their reason for using cement grout was that my expensive Epoxy was running under my tile. CST response: "We followed industry standards, you have a tendency to overthink things and I'm not arguing with you!" There were two more grout days skimming the top with what I hope was Epoxy. Due to inconsistent fill the 3rd day was more skimmimg. There Is terrible Epoxy haze all over my tile because of not using the initial and final wash as indicated in Laticrete's instruction manual. (found 3 wash pouches in my garage unused) Dirt is so ground into the Epoxy leaving residue that can't be cleaned. I have at least 4 different colors of grout: light gray, darker gray, cream and silver. The pregrout was not cured before they skimmed it over, so now I have cement grout that has surfaced at the top. My warranty with Laticrete is voided because of the mix match of materials. There are some kickers and one tile has already broken. CST wants to use an acid wash to get epoxy of tile and clean grout. They also suggested skimming more grout over the top of tiles that have low fill. This would be the 4th application of grout over some grout lines. Laticrete done not recommend this due to bonding issues. I have a $7,500 mess! As an older woman I selected these products to help with cleaning. This was a tile installation nightmare and I'm left with products that are far worse than what CSTile ripped out due to their installation. I found this company to be unethical and disrespectful. I could never recommend them!
Description of Work: Ripped out existing tile and installed 440 sq. ft. of specialty 24" tile with epoxy grout.

Response from Countryside Italian Tile & Marble Imports Inc
My name is Mark Kirby, Owner & President of Countryside Italian Tile and Marble Imports. I am shocked and saddened by this review. We have been in business for 32 years and have never experienced a review of this nature. We would not be able to stay in business for this long if we conducted ourselves in the manner described above, and we would certainly never intentionally or knowingly insult a customer! In this instance, we went above and beyond to meet this customer’s expectations, even so far as providing extra service at no charge and fixing areas of work you were unhappy with during installation. Based upon customer feedback and near daily phone calls we thought we met expectations. ALL work was done to manufacturer’s recommendations and industry standards to ensure you received a quality product. This member was not “left with a $7,500 mess” because the work is guaranteed by my company, Countryside Tile and Marble. We will happily fix any remaining issues so the member is satisfied, but we have to know about the problems to fix them… Unfortunately this is the first we are being made aware of any remaining “issues” and the member has not returned any of our calls since work was completed.

The installer removed the broken travertine tile, installed a replacement provided by the owner. He did not remove enough of the underlayment to install the tile correctly and left it jutting out at a slight angle, revealing an edge. In addition, he used an almost white grout where he should have used a darker color to match the existing grout. Later the company owner inspected the work and recommended someone from a different company to correct the problem.

Mr. [member name removed] evidently does not know that Tina the owner of his unit is still working on getting the flooring corrected with our last correspondence was Oct. 3rd. There are repairs such as filling all the holes in the Travertine that we do not do and the understanding between us is that the person doing that will also repair the grout color and correct the high piece. If the owner does not contract with him to do the additional work we are coming back to repair what was done.

Countryside Italian Tile was one of the sub-contractors for our bathroom and kitchen remodels in 2010. They were the stand-out of all the sub-contractors. The young man who performed the work, I wish I could remember his name, showed a stubborn dedication to quality workmanship that was a bit annoying to the cabinet contractor in that he would not tile up to poor scribing in the bathroom performed by the cabinet contractor. The impasse was resolved by his manager or owner backing him up by accepting responsibility for proper scribing to be done by the young man at Countryside. It made a huge difference and if he hadn't refused to go forward, we would have either been much less satisfied by the resulting job, or had the poor scribing and adjacent tiles reworked. I'd also like to note that the designer helped us negotiate a great tile color scheme. I say negotiate, because we had 3 family members who all wanted a say in the colors of the kitchen. I can't say how much the tiling cost because it wasn't one of the broken-out costs on the estimate or receipt for the full remodels. As far as I remember, we had no issues with timeliness and the responsiveness, quality, professionalism were spectacular.

Guided me through the process so I knew always what to expect. Offered flooring options/samples and suggestions that would meet my needs for now and future. After I chose carpet, they took the time to go through many, many carpeting samples, assisting me in finding the right one. They provided detailed estimates so there were no surprise charges in the end. They answered my questions and addressed any concerns I may have had. Installation day, the staff came to home (private residence, Tampa Bay area) on time. We had lots of big furniture that needed to be removed from the home, so this was big task for them! They worked tirelessly and diligently, taking pride in their work. All furniture returned in the proper place and intact. We are enjoying our new rugs and have had no troubles.

The contractor for our bath/shower repair selected was AAA Services of Central Florida who uses Countryside Tile. While we hit a few bumps with regard to AAA, all dealings with Countryside were great. Paul performed quality work in a timely manner. He took steps necessary to protect our home from dust while he was working, laying tarps daily. Each day he explained what would be done and worked diligently to achieve his goal. As previously stated, his work is outstanding and I would absolutely use Countryside again.
Description of Work: As part of our tub/shower replacement, Countryside installed the ceramic tile. Mark provided the estimate for some specialty tile we selected and Paul did the installation for the entire job. Both were very professional and great to work with. Paul's work was outstanding!! His suggestions regarding the tile placement were great and the finished product is beautiful. I would most definitely use this company again. Paul is truly a master at tile installation and an asset to Countryside.

They charged me $5000 I think for their services. I think they were very knowledgeable but there was one thing though that they didn’t do right. They put grout around the tub rather than caulk. So the guy had to come back and caulk. They had to take the grout out and caulk. That was only a little hiccup and it wasn’t a big deal. I will use their services again in the future if I need to.

I called the store at 4:45 p.m. and spoke to Theresa. She said she was closing the store in 5 minutes. Their posted hours are 9:00 to 5:00, and I found her answer to be rude and unprofessional. If she had said, "I apologize, but we close at 5:00, but perhaps you can get an idea of what we offer on our web site, and we'll be opening again at 9:00 in the morning when I would be happy to assist you," that would have been nice. She didn't and instead was abrupt, rude, and obviously ready to go home. I was not surprised to find other reports of her rude and unprofessional behavior, but I am surprised the owner, Mark Kirby, still has her answering the telephone.

In the end we went with another contractor who could do all the remodeling in the house, including the floors. I was very pleased with Mark, but we found someone who could do everything for us all at once.
Description of Work: Mark at Countryside Tile was very polite and honest. I had him come look at our home for an estimate on Tile for the whole house, from floors to showers. His price was good, but in the end my husband and I went with a contractor who does 'everything', including tile so there was no need for his services. Very unprofessional on the phone... No follow up. Very poor impression of them. Companies should have pleasant and professional staff answering their phones. Theresa could have been more courteous and maybe recommended a company that could assist me.
Description of Work: I was calling around to see about services for my natural stone tile shower and flooring. I need cleaning, refinishing and sealing. From the description of the company I thought they may do this type of work... Apparently not. I called and spoke to Theresa who initially put me on hold abruptly. When she came back on the line I continued to explain what I was looking for and she rudley cut me off by saying " we don't do that type if work" and then HUNG UP ON ME! Wow! I was shocked. I called back to get her name because she never offered it up on the first call. I asked to speak to Mark Kirby ( to complain about her) and she told me he was not available but that she would have him call me back. I did not hear from him.
