My outside a/c unit (condenser and compressor) was making a screeching noise, so I stopped running it over the weekend, and waited till Monday morning to make calls. I contacted Climate Design, and the lady at the other end said there was a technician finishing up a service call in my area and could be there in less than an hour. I said great, I will wait for his call. Andrew Smith from Climate Design gave me a courtesy call 15 minutes before arriving and showed up at me house as he indicated. Andrew was professional, very polite, and explained everything to me as he proceeded to diagnose the problem with me looking over his shoulder. My unit was working much harder than it should be, due to low Freon, causing it to work overtime to cool the house, and my fan motor is starting to fail. I indicated I am planning on replacing the entire 15 year old system at the end of this year and would give Climate Design a call to give me a proposal. He said, sometimes the fan motor will make a louder noise for up to a year or more, but indicated I should get the old system replace by the end of the year. Andrew got my a/c working again and gave me an Angles List discount. I am very satisfied and happy with the timeliness of the service call, the prompt diagnosis and repair, the explanation of the diagnosis, and the discounts on the invoice. I am absolutely calling Climate Design again at the end of the year to give me a proposal on a new system given the honesty and price of this service call, thanks Andrew.

Climate Design is one of the most honorable companies I have ever worked with. Their staff is friendly, courteous, helpful, and prompt. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

They did a very professional job, including replacing the cooper lines that go between the air handler and compressor. They put in a new thermostat and they wore covers over there shoes when they came in the house to protect my carpet. They also re-routed some of my ducting to improve the airflow to my back room and fixed a few duct leaks without any additional charges. They didn't have the cheapest price but they made sure the job was done as good and professional as possible.

Climate Design was a good company to work with. From beginning to end, everyone we worked with was friendly and professional. Sarah, the sales rep, was very knowledgeable, and very patient with multiple questions and requests over the two weeks it took us to decide which provider and AC brand to select. We're glad we selected to work with Climate Design. The work crew arrived on time and did a great job. They were friendly and very conscientious about keeping any necessary mess to a minimum. They were particularly careful inside the house (where they replaced grills and registers), and they patched up places in the ceiling where needed so that you'd never know there had been a hole. Although they were not the cheapest estimate we recieved, the service provided by Climate Design has made it worth the extra money. There was a bit of a mix-up over the date of the final inspection (still pending), but our overall experience has been a very good one. We are very pleased with our new AC and ductwork, and would recommend Climate Design to any of our friends.

I am so grateful to deal with a company that take service/warranty situation just as important as just getting the sale. Their goal is to have a satisfied customer and proved it to me again! Travis, a Climate Design tech came out to check for better cooling with one of our new units. He arrived on time very professional, polite and was very courteous. He went to work on the outside unit and found an area that needed attention. He advised in detail what needed to be done and he would be working outside on the unit. However, in spite of the fact that we did have cooling,he wanted to come back the first day available for us to install another part. Travis intentions was to make the unit preform to it's highest efficiency as possible, which he did to our complete satisfaction. I want to commend the company and especially Travis for outstanding customer service.
Description of Work: This was a warranty call to check on outside unit, and increase cooling in one of our new units. They treated this as a priority call.

I saw a detailed commerical on CNBC about Climate Design and their ability to check efficiency of A/C units. I had two, one was 17years old and the other 8 year old. I then check out there web site, the BBB and Angies list to my satisfaction. I had been in the market for new units for a while, so decided to get an inspection. Erin Hawkins came out and I was impressed with her knowledge and professional approach to explain what was advised. I had Hydo-heat and A/C units, that use hot water to heat which also provides the cooling. She recommended converting to Heat pumps which could save me considerable expense, approxmatly $100 a month or more which would be great . I did my "Due Diligence" and got 2 more estimates. I liked Climate Design proposal because they were the only one that suggested addition duct work should be installed to my home office because of the heat the computers, TV and other office equipment created. Erin was sincerely interested in my comfort and the best fit was my home which has a zone system. I was in total agreement because it was so hard and expensive to cool the area. She increase the size of both units, total seven and half tons for better cooling as well as efficiency. Plus at the time I could qualify for company and county and manufacture rebates on the units. This was going to be the last time I would be installing new units, so this was a big deal to me. I ask Erin to come back to review the process to change over from hot water to heat pumps, water pipes from the hot water heaters had to be remove etc. She assured me I would be happy and she was right. It has been seven months since the units were installed and I have experienced hot weather as well as cold. Everything has worked perfectly and I could not be happier. Climate design is a huge qualified Trane Distributor of products and provider in the area, a excellent reputation and peace of mind warranty. I would highly recommend Climate Design.
Description of Work: A date was set ti remove my old units and installing the new Trane. The installation teams arrive on time and prepared with 2 trucks painted wither name and with logos. I was impressed with the appearance of all the components being installed. Floor covering was put down over the walk ways to the attic and all the rooms.I ask the foreman, Paul Goodson to let me know when the old units were down so I could see there condition. he came and got me right away and both unit were on display to view. I had delayed the install to a date I was returning from a trip. Close, the units were definitely ready for the junk pile. Then he showed me what each item being installed did, filters etc. There were four men doing the work and worked without interruption to get me running before dark. They clean up and we did a walk through to inspect and answer any question. Everything looked perfect to me and that a lot since I am a stickler when it come to my house and my money. No problems. Paul demo the two thermostats and set them. Than he started over and walk me through doing the same. They work like they are on auto-pilot, pure comfort. The crew clean up every area they had work in and when they left we were all happy how well the day had gone.

Job did not go like we are use to. Our prior a/cs had been installed by them and they have been servicing our a/cs for over 10 years now. We had been very satisfied customers up to this point. All has been resolved, although it took a lot of conversations and scheduling to get to this point. We had had the old a/c serviced in July. All was well. Shortly after, it broke down. It was learned freon was leaking and we had a choice of repairing the a/c which was under warrantly or that money being applied to a new a/c. We were advised by the service person and the sales person, that once a leak occurs and is repaired, it is not long before we would have to replace the a/c. So we opted for a new a/c. We were told we could not have the concrete block (CB) condensor stand anymore, that it would have to be a bracket installed to the exterior wall to hold it. The plan was for them to remove the entire CB stand and we understood we would be responsible for painting the portions of the exterior wall the stand had been up against. Because of the warranty we were currently under and was expiring soon, we asked if there was a way we could wait a month or two for the install and still receive the credit from the mfgr. We were assured we could. I renewed our service contract at that time for another five years because it would pass on to the new ac unit. Because I was feeling a little unsure of the sales person committment concerning the $1800 a/c credit and expriring warrantey, I dediced to re-confirm. I phoned the sales person and told her of my concern. She checked and said, no we would have to have it installed right away or lose the credit. So our installation date was moved up. The job was completed. When I returned home, I found the following: CB condensor stand was partially (not completely) removed Stucco from an area adjacent to (but not behind the stand) had been damaged Stand had been erected in such a way that a wire, left hanging, would have to be cut and spliced in order to line up smoothly along the wall Line/tubing from the condensor was on the exterior instead of along the wall Inside - the new thermostat had exposed screws. The a/c was not cooling our home as well as our old system. If we reduced the temperature by 2-3 degrees, it was close to the old system. The room I use as my office now needed the ceiling fan on in addition to a lower temperature. I contacted the sales person with our list of concerns and took photos. They said they would send someone out. The person they sent out was not able to do anything and didn't understand why he had been sent out. He called in and told them they needed to send some one else out. We were told they would. A week later we were calling them again. Many phone calls, explanations, etc... and finally, they came out and completed the exterior job the way it should have been except for the damaged stucco. They put a plate behind the thermostat to conceal the screws. They checked out the a/c a couple of times and we finally agreed that they would make a change to the a/c that would allow more cool air to blow. More calls later and they sent a company out to repair the damaged stucco. Although we are now pleased with the results, I am not pleased with what we had to go through. It was a very punishing experience. We rated the overall experience as fair instead of bad because our concerns were resolved.

I knew ahead of time that the work wasn't covered under warranty, but I was still satisfied with the service call. The technician arrived right at the early part of the window that I was given. Tracey was very thorough and gave me some tips on how to extend the life of my older & mis-matched a/c duct work. He was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and answered questions very well. I thought the price was reasonable. I'm very happy with Climate Design and will continue to use them.

Our HVAC system was dated and inefficient, and temperatures in the house were uneven. We considered five different HVAC companies (Advanced Cooling Systems, Climate Design, Harrington Air Conditioning, Performance Air Conditioning Services, and Sears Home Improvement Services). We were most impressed by Climate Design and Performance A/C, which did detailed load calculations considering our home's construction and windows, informed us of the superiority of Trane systems in a marine environment (a fact I confirmed via web research), and proposed ducting changes to provide better air distribution. (Advanced Cooling and Sears didn't even inspect our ducting before submitting their proposals.) Mike Sweeney, Climate Design's estimator and system architect, was superb in all respects. He explained all our options, offered advice, and designed the entire system, consisting of a high-efficiency heat pump (Trane XL20i), a matching variable-speed air handler, and totally new ducting. He patiently and knowledgeably answered all our questions (even when we asked the same question twice). The proposal from Performance A/C was less expensive, but we found discrepancies in some of their representative's claims and we judged Climate Design's proposal superior in terms of the proposed equipment suite and ducting plan. Climate Design did a wonderful job installing the new system. The work was done over three days, during a very cold January, but they made sure we had heat every night. The only unpleasant surprise was when we saw how tall the heat pump was (about twice as high as the old one, a fact we hadn't noticed or been alerted to). We realized that too late to relocate the heat pump where it would less obstruct the line-of-sight from our side garage door, but it wasn't a big deal. The new registers were well-positioned and installed squarely. The crew was very respectful of our home's cleanliness and daily clean-up was conscientious. We did have to call them back to remove some debris we found in the attic after they'd left, but that was done quickly, pleasantly, and with apologies for the slip-up. A Progress Energy inspector subsequently praised the ducting as being the best she'd seen. Our electricity bills have dropped by about one-third. We would be very pleased to do business with Climate Design again.
Description of Work: Installed new heat pump, new air handler, and new ducting for a 1665 sq. ft. rambler built in 1968.

We did not find out that our new system had to pass a leak test in order to qualify for the $1500 rebate until we tried to fill out the paperwork Climate Design provided us. We called CD asking about the test mentioned on the form, and only then were told about the test. We were also told that CD had to make the appointment with the testing company. What were they waiting for? Me? I didn't even know about the test. So CD made the appointment. The system did not pass and the testing company stated that they saw indications that the problem was with the installation. CD came out and supposedly fixed what they could see (no smoke test, just a visual inspection), but the system still didn't pass. The testing company stated that a smoke test is necessary to determine where the air leak is, that it is impossible to find leaks visually, but CD declined to send someone out to do that. Instead they are going to send someone out to "take photographs"--which doesn't seem like any kind of action that will find and fix air leaks to me. Meanwhile, our system doesn't qualify for the $1500 rebate which the salesman told me in September will eventually run out..."when it's gone, it's gone." So we asked if we might lose the rebate because of the delay and were told today (10/15) that the money hasn't even been released by the state of Florida yet and it may never be released. WHAT? This wasn't what I was told at the time of sale. Very unhappy with CD.
Description of Work: January 2011 We received a notice from the State of Florida that the $1500 rebate program ended September 14, 2010. On September 22, 2010, Climate Design wrote our proposal which referenced the $1500 rebate and showed a "bottom line" cost to us $1500 less than what we would pay without the rebate. We accepted the proposal, went through all the testing and paperwork necessary to file the forms with the State to get our rebate, and then were told a few months later that the rebate had ended a week before Climate Design made the proposal, performed the work, and provided the forms. Either this company knowingly lied about the availability of the rebate or they were incompetent in not knowing that the program had been rescinded. Either way, we are out the money. I am revising this report due to problems which have come up and have not been satisfactorily addressed. I will revise again if and when the problems have been resolved. See below.

We have used this company for several years. Unfortunately, last year and again this year, after they did the annual service on our air conditioning units, the unit stopped working. Both times we discovered that the drain line had not been cleared causing the pan to fill with water and shut the system down. Needless to say, August is not the time to lose your A/C! We did not realize the system was down until after hours so we had to go through the night with no A/C. The company did send someone over the following morning. I am disappointed that this has happened two years in a row. I am also disappointed that the service manager did not personally call us to apologize. I am not sure if we will use this company again.
