STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.... they do terrible work and don't stand behind it for their customers. They installed an AC unit in our home 3 years ago. Repeatedly during this 3 years of use we have had to have the water drained from it because they installed the unit to low and the drain line are not sloped to allow the condensation to flow out. This information was given to us by TWO of their own employees that came to work on our unit over the past year. They mentioned they would talk to the owner and he would call us. This is a HUGE and AMATUER mistake that they refuse to fix. If you need AC or Heating there has to be better options in the Tampa and Clearwater area! Response to Owner's Response - I am a customer you did a faulty install which I am in discussions with the County Building inspector about how it was passed with BLATANT violations including not being installed on pressure treated wood or water resistent materials. In addition, it was installed too low so the lines work against gravity causing water to back up in the system. Really AC installations 101. I have paid your company for 3 service calls - on 2 of which your own workers explained how it was installed faulty - BEFORE they found out you guys installed it. You can SAY - "We take our customer service seriously" if you want - but ACTIONS always speak louder than words. System has been in use for 14 months and I have had 6 service calls because of your terrible installation. AS I MENTIONED BEFORE - STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY - they do not stand behind their work and their claim of Customer Service is 100% lip service!!!
Description of Work: Installed NEW AC unit. Did it terribly. Installed unit too low, so the water will not flow out of the unit with gravity as it is supposed to.

Description of Work: I’ve been using Blairs for my A/C needs for for more then 15 years, so when my house took a lightning strike that cooked my old A/C, I called them. They came by within a couple of hours. I decided to replace instead of repair the old unit. Cost was about $5000 installed. The unit was installed promptly. Their technicians are always friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely would use them again.

The technician arrived on a Saturday morning and tested the capacitors on both my units. He said they were bad and needed to be replaced. I was charged $300 for labor to install 2 capacitors - it only took him 5 minutes to replace and he was done. It took to technician longer to write the invoice than it took for him to charge me $300 for 2 capacitors. The worst part is I have since learned capacitors are available on Amazon and other online retailers for $12!!!!! If you need AC service, DO NOT CALL Blair's!

I expected twice the price. They researched the blower mower on the air conditioning unit and found out it was under warranty. They were quite professional. They were very timely. I talked to the woman in the office and was very polite and professional. Made the appointment and they were right there. Everything worked out very well.

They listened and went right to it. I was very happy with it.

Our central air conditioner stopped providing cold air last night. I called Blair's at 8:00 AM and a technician was at our house after lunch. He found a faulty capacitor was not starting the compressor. The company repaced it at no charge as the part was still under warranty. The A/C is working fine now.

After our heat pump went out after 14 years, I began getting quotes for a new heat pump system. After getting 6 quotes from reputable companies, I found Blair's to be very responsive and professional in all aspects of the process and project. My first contact was with Arthur, who came to give the quote. He was very professional and helpful, giving me his cell phone number if I had any questions. I called a few days later and received a modified quote on a higher SEER heat pump that I had not even considered due to the high prices I had been receiving. When all was said and done, they gave me an unbelievable deal on a 20 SEER Daikin heat pump, UV light, media filter, duct cleaning, and 12 year labor warranty all for $9359 ($8759 after $600 rebate from Duke Energy). That was less than the quotes received for a 16 SEER system. They were able to install the following day. The installers showed up on time and never stopped until the job was done, finishing in a reasonable time and cleaning up everything when done. The great office staff (Lisa, Maria, and Valerie) took care of registering the equipment for the Daikin warranty and filing the paperwork for the Duke rebate. The next test will be on the service side, but given what I've seen to date, I am confident that I won't be disappointed with the maintenance plan and service when needed. Great team at Blair's! I would recommend them with confidence!

At the time, we thought it was great. Randy was priced slightly better than other quotes and he offered a 10 year warranty. A few months after the unit was installed, we started having issues. We called him (per our service agreement) and he didn't return our calls. My husband had to call him multiple times to get a return call. And that happened a few months after the initial incident so it was not isolated...it was a pattern with Randy. Fast forward three years, we've had so many issues with our new AC unit, I can't even list them all. Both Burgess and Blairs (and I would recommend them both) have been here on several occasions and regardless of the tech, we always get the same question..."Who installed your unit, where did you buy it, this wasn't done correctly." At this point, we're considering a new unit and will buy from Burgess or Blairs...basically wasted $4500 with Randy. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone.

We love Blairs; the only issue is their after hours phone system. It doesn't really work. So when we have AC issues after hours and on weekends, we use Burgess because we can place an emergency service request with Burgess on the weekends but not with Blairs because their phone system doesn't work.

Took a little longer than I would have liked for the work to be scheduled but I understand it is a very busy time of year. People were very friendly and honest. While they did not try to sell me things/systems I did not need, I did not feel that a thorough evaluation of my system needs was conducted (i.e. the estimates included a programmable thermostat and air handler box that I already had but was later credited for.) Also, the duct work was not inspected to ensure that there were no issues there and the unit was simply replaced with one the same size as before without enquiring as to whether or not it was cooling the entire house...which it is not. Had to contact office for copy of final invoice and then had to contact them for a corrected invoice due to a credit I did not received for the thermostat.

I was not very satisfied with Blairs Air Conditioning And Heating Company's services. They didn't replace a filter. They communicated the owner of the house and got wrong information. I was the one paying them and they should have talked to me. They're overpriced too. These guys are kind of people who would charge you $1000 and do the job for a $100, when you don't know anything about it. We called them a couple times and they didn't show up. Finally, they managed to call the owner and say it was due for maintenance. I talked to the owner and switched to another provider. They're knowledgeable but they are not using that knowledge for the prosperity of the company.

The technician was able to determine the problem with the failed unit, and had the appropariate parts available in the truck to repair the unit. He also checked out both the functioning units and did a good job cleaning the units out. They are not the cheapest professionals around but definitely reliable (showed up when they said they would) and provide good service.

The townhouse that I purchased was built through 2007 and 2008. My developer estimates that Blair's AC and Heating installed the AC and heating in April of 2007. The townhouse remained on the market through 2008 and I went under contract for the townhouse in January of 2009. In November of 2011, the coil was replaced by another Air Conditioning company under the manufacturer's warranty. In December of 2011, the heater stopped working. When I investigated further, I found that the line that reverses flow to return refrigerant to the heat pump had frosted over. I contacted my Air Conditioning repairman who came to look at the unit. He told me that the dryer filter installed on the line was a one way dryer filter. He told me that a bi-flow dryer filter should be installed on AC/Heat systems with a heat pump. He informed that what had likely happened was that the refrigerant had been forced the wrong way through the dryer filter over the time that I had minimally used the heat in the mild Florida winters. He told me that it had finally stopped flowing and thus the heat pump could not transfer heat to the coil. He also told me that the I had heat strips installed in the blower, but that the thermostat had not been programmed to activate them on an emergency heat setting. I identified Blair's A/C and Heat as the installers by looking through a list of the subcontractors that were used for the build. The manager contacted me promptly and I informed him of the problem. He told me that Blair's could send a technician but that he would charge me for a service call. When I explained the situation to him, I felt that he did not discuss the issue in good faith with me. Instead of discussing the pertinent information about why the wrong dryer filter had been installed and how to prove that, he asked me if regular maintenance had been performed, he brought up the one year installation warranty, and he insinuated that the coil change out had something to do with the issue. I felt that he was arguing around the issue and that he was denying the inescapable fact that his company had installed an incorrect dryer filter. I felt that he was not discussing the issue in good faith and that he should at least come to take a look at the unit. Prior to concluding my conversation, we agreed that I would contact the builder/developer and also the AC repairman who had changed the coil. I did both of these things. The developer assured me that no more work or repairs had been done on the AC after completion. He remembers the time well, and stated that all work through 2008 would have been done under the 1 year installation warranty. He told me that no work was done between the expiration of the warranty and when I bought the unit. I spoke to the AC repairman who changed the coil. He informed me that changing the dryer filter is highly recommended but not mandatory. He was also confused as to the relevancy of the coil change out as it did not impact the basic premise that Blairs had installed an incorrect dryer filter unit originally. Also, I had watched him perform the coil change out in November and was sure that he did not change the dryer filter during that visit. I contacted the manager at Blair's who then informed me that there were "grey areas" that he was unsure of and that he would send out a technician to program the thermostat. I informed him that my AC repairman had already programmed it so that I would have some type of heat while I worked through the problem. I asked him again if he would send out a technician and make the situation right. He replied and told me that he couldn't do anything for me. The reasons that he gave were that "something didn't jive", and that I had made it through one winter with a cold spell, and that there was a problem because the coil had been changed. I understand his wariness because of the long period of time that had passed since the work was completed. However, the proper thing to do would have been to send out a technician to verify the issue. Instead he adhered to the age old strategy of denying and making counter accusations. I would not recommend Blairs AC and Heating.
Description of Work: Blair's Air Conditioning and Heating was a subcontractor for the builder/developer who built my townhouse. I purchased the unit new. Blair's installed all of the air conditioning and heating equipment which consisted of the compressor and heat pump, the blower and coil, and the ducting and thermostat.

Response from Blairs Air Conditioning And Heating
Blair's stance on the customer's issue is this. His unit was started up in mid 2007 and he took occupancy in the beginning of 2009. He has been through cold months in late 2009, beginning of 2010, end of 2010, beginning of 2011 before he has a coil problem in November of 2011. After his coil is changed by this other company he has another issue that he would like to blame Blair's for. We always correct our issues. See past posts about our company on Angie's List.

Back in 2006 we had our air conditioning installed by Blairs and they did a good job, but then we recently had Florida Power come out and do an energy survey and they found a few problems from the installation of the unit. It had been so long ago that I really didn't think they would respond if I contacted them, but I thought...I'll just go ahead and give it a try. I sent an E-mail to Blairs and lo and behold, I got a response from them.. He said he would like to talk about the problems we encountered and set up a time to come out and do that. He sat and listened to our complaints and then took a look around and said he saw some problems and explained that the people who originally installed our Unit were no longer there, but he would talk with the owner of the company and get back with us.Well, he asked if we would give him a couple of days and of course we said yes. He contacted us and told us that they wanted to make it right, which they offered to do. He came out and sat down again with us and told us what they would do to make the situation right. It was more than we could have asked for and we were very satisfied with the end result.Blairs and especially Paul Childers, in our opinion, deserves a lot of praise and we would recommend them to anyone! They are a very honest company and we had originally heard about them from Channel 13, so we knew they would be a good company to deal with. We have had some really bad experiences with companies in the past, but believe that they are easy to deal with, prompt in their return calls and go above and beyond in their service. People are easy to deal with and they do a good job. We would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Blairs came and installed a central air and heat unit in 2006. They did not have to install ductwork or air handler, but just the wall unit on the outside of the house.

They are way overpriced, to be honest. They are wonderful, they do great work, and they stand behind what they do, but they are overpriced. When I actually needed work done, I spent $280 for Freon and $1,000 for a new condenser coil. They installed the air conditioners on my whole street so their phone number was on the unit. They are thorough and timely.

Fabulous. It was my fourth estimate and so I had learned all the problems and possible solutions so I just went right down the list. I have not had adequate A/C in the back two bedrooms for the 40 years I have lived here. I have it now. The salesman was polite, knowledgeable, well trained, honest, friendly, professional, and had a solution for all my concerns. By the time he arrived I had been told many conflicting things by previous salesmen. Aluminum or copper? 1600 seer would not fit or would it? rip out all the solid ducting and reduct with flexible? Each company had their own opinions. I chose Blairs because I was offered copper, 1600 seer to be able to use the big national rebate, fixing the existing good solid ducting, extra ducting to reach the back rooms, additional insulation on existing ductwork, and a new system. My old system installed in 1967 when the house was built had a thick blanket of dirt covering the coils that were way inside the mechanism and had never been cleaned. I feel healthier already! The following day the gas furnace was hooked up by Bellamy gas, another great company I highly recommend.
Description of Work: Installation of a new A/C Gas furnace, additional ducting running the length of the house in the attic to cool two back bedrooms, repair of solid ducting that had been bent when someone must have fallen on it, additional insulation in places needing it in the existing duct work, and flushing of the system.
