Very well; did everything they said they would do plus a little more. Poured a bigger step than what was contracted for so it would look right. Came back and cleaned up everything. Came when they said they would even with all the rain they had to work around. Will use them again!

They were very responsive and did even more than what I asked ( ramp into garage instead of just a slab that I would have had to step down to. They were prompt and courteous in every communication and service. I was out of town when they came to install and worked very well with my wife and daughter answering questions they had as well as calling me on phone with any major points. All in all if I ever have any concrete or bob cat work needed in the future I will uses Birges.

The first day they removed the old driveway with a bobcat, graded, and framed out the area to be poured. The next day no work was done as we waited for the inspection. On that day I found a huge stump in the walkway area. I spent 2 hours removing the stump and regrading the walkway to my standards. The inspector came and said they had to dig down deeper to get the required thickness on the first 8 feet of driveway. On the third day the owner showed up an hour early and addressed the issue before the cement truck showed up. The extra guy they hired/needed showed up with no experience so the other crew seemed to have to work at a hectic pace. The 2nd cement truck showed up an hour late while the first pour was curing fast.(stress). The 4x4 post that was holding up my front door overhang was knocked down by a worker and landing into the newly poured concrete splattering concrete all over (more stress) After the job was finsihed I watered the area for 3 days to cure slower/stronger. On the 4th day I walked on the area and found some problem areas. I called and they came out a week later to repair. The driveway looks nice but I had to do some work myself and pay close attention to workers to ensure I got the quality I was paying for. Overall fair job for a fair price.

I requested via the internet using Brige's web-site for a estimate for my driveway replacement, unlike all the other contractors I contacted Brige's provided a estimate by e-mail and never came to my house to look at the conditions, all other contractors made a visit before they provided their estimate. I requested by phone that Birge's meet me at my home, I felt there were some conditions that might reduce the price, it took over a day to get a response from Brige's for this meeting and then they could not arrive for three days and the meeting had to be done in the evening not during the day like all the other contractors I contacted for a estimate. I have a construction background and when Brige's arrived for the scheduled meeting they started making excuses and started raising issues I felt were not issues, they also wanted to reprice their first quote in which they raised their price based on the conditions they used as excuses, again I felt they reasons were not valid and should not affect the prices. That adjusted quote came three days after meeting at my house, all the other contractor provided their estimate either at the same time we met or with in 24 hours, not several days later. Once I received their second quote I contacted Brige's to make a counter offer based on the other prices I had received, at that time I felt that Brige's got nasty in some of their comments. Based on my experiences I had with Brige's I decided not to use them even if they had cut their price in half. I would not even recommend Brige's to any of my enemies much less my friends. I felt they put out a estimate to entice me into considering them and then they started tacking on dollars, no very professional in my book. I feel lucky that I have the construction background, most people would have fallen into their way of jacking up their price.
Description of Work: I requested via the internet using their web-site for a estimate for my driveway replacement, unlike all the other contractors I contacted they provided their estimate by never coming to my house to see the existing conditions and making measurements.

Birge's concrete is a family owned and operated company. We tell all of our potential customers we can meet you in the evenings, weekends,or if were on a job and your in our area we can stop by.Mr. H contacted us by email and I called him right away.We spoke of his job and I sent him a proposal by internet as per his request. This is not unusual as we have many customers that live out of town and have other residence. He contacted us a couple of days later and wanted us to do his job and come and meet him.We met him on a Friday evening which was the next day we were both available. When we got to the job we noticed that the concrete driveway which he said needed to be removed and replaced also had a underlay of asphalt. This is a extra cost due to dump fees.Concrete can be dumped for free and asphalt has a cost.We explained that to Mr. H and he seemed to be understanding of that.He actually complimented us on our proposal and said he liked the detail over the other companies. We told him we would contact the dump company for the cost.I did that on Monday and got back in touch with Mr. H.The bid was originally 2775.00 and the cost went up to 2825.00.I don't believe I was trying to misrepresent our company with enticing a customer and only changing the price by 50.00 that would be absurd.Mr Hgave us four contractual agreements to abide by and he would sign the deal. One of which wanted us to drop our price to 2500.00. We told Mr. H that we were sorry we couldn't compete with the other company and that we couldn't do the job for that.I did tell him verbally on the phone that I would eat the dump cost and keep original quote. As Mr. H said he has a background in construction .He failed to mention there were two types of material in his driveway. He also has a curb that runs on both sides of his driveway and we told him we would need to cut that away from existing driveway with a saw to try and protect the curb and he told us that wouldn't be necessary. We are a professional business. This comment was posted almost a month later and we never knew there was a conflict with Mr. H.I thought Mr. H was a great person and we even exchanged survey company names. If any customers would like to ask me more on this subject and would like me to forward emails, I will do that.

Bridges made the process painless and easy. Our project all started with a cracked and jacked up driveway from several extremely large trees. There assistance right from the start was terrific. We had issues with our tree service pulling the tree removal permits but after Bridges stepped in everything went smoothly. We received our tree permits, the trees were removed, and they started promptly on our job. Our driveway replacement was not an easy task. It required someone who knew what they were doing to get the pitch correct. Our old driveway was not pored correctly and we had water entering our garage when ever it rained. It was so bad we couldn't wash the car or hose down the driveway either, the water would not stop. Bridges analyzed and reviewed our circumstances and clearly understood what we needed. Water now doesn't even puddle up on the driveway. It is absolutely wonderful.
Description of Work: Bridges Concrete removed my old cracked concrete driveway, hauled the old slab away, formed the new driveway, and finished my project on time. They not only replaced my existing driveway but created a turn around and sidewalk down the side of the garage. They removed the old half wall on the side of the house and built a new one further up to accommodate our trash cans. They thought of every detail by adding an underground drain for the gutter and a large drain in front of the garage door where we had a water issues. The pitch on the driveway now is great. We had a heavy downpour and no water collects on the driveway nor does any water enter the garage. We are very happy.

No complaints - was a great experience!
Description of Work: After living in my home for 30 years, the once small oak and sweet gum trees in my yard had grown to become extremely big trees! Root growth caused my driveway to crack and present several tripping hazards. I contacted Birge's Bobacat and Concrete - and arranged for an appointment and estimate to repair or replace our drive. We arranged a time and an estimate was presented. Rather than replace only 1 panel of the drive, we decided to replace the other 2 sections and the front walk too. Mike and his team arrived on their scheduled day, removed the old driveway, came back the next day as agreed, Cement was poured, Mike and his crew poured, leveled and brushed the sections. Came back a day later to finish up, with edging and clean up. Hauled all trash away. Driveway looks great! Very nice company to work with! Highly recommended!

He did a good job. I'm happy with the work. First, I had to get the property surveyed. Then, he had to get a permit from the city. That all took time, about three weeks. As soon as he came out, he put the form in. They had a cement truck come in. He was professional. I was completely satisfied with the work.

This job was done in the middle of the rainy season so I told Steve, the owner, to plan the work as he felt made sense based upon weather predictions. This was basically a three step process. The first step was removal of the old driveway using a Bobcat to breakup and load the old concrete into his dump truck and this was completed in about 1/2 a day. About two and 1/2 truckloads had to be removed. Steve takes the old concrete to a recycling facility where it is turned into fill material. This is cheaper than taking to the county dump at a cost of about $40 per ton. I felt that by hiring Steve, the owner, who owned his own Bobcat, it would be cheaper than hiring a bigger company that had to feed a lot of employees. In removing the old driveway, Steve was careful not to run the Bobcat over the lawn which would have ruined it. This was typical of things that Steve did that were "homeowner" friendly, like ensuring that concrete was not spilled over the yard or into the garage. The new driveway was poured on the second day in about 5 hours. To protect the pavers on the sides of the driveway, Steve covered them with plastic. The concrete used was of the newer, fiber, type so no rerod was needed and the driveway could be walked on by night time. Steve gave the driveway surface a mild texture so it would not be slippery. On the third day, Steve returned to cut expansion slots in the driveway to prevent cracking in the future. The drive was ready for car traffic about three days after the pour. I thought that Steve and all of his helpers were very professional and treated the job like it was being done on their own houses. I did not list a price for this job to allow Steve to price new jobs based upon their merit, not just my job. I did not get any other estimates because I felt that the price was reasonable, especially compared to what I was initially planning to do, that is, get the old driveway painted. A neighbor had this done and the price for this was over $2000. This included repairing cracks, painting and texturing to hide smaller cracks, and a second color pattern overlay. I didn't want the pattern overlay and was able to substantially reduce the estimate from the same contractor. I was somewhat concerned that the smaller cracks would open after a time. After I talked to Steve Birge, it was clear that I could have a completely new driveway for really not that much more money. Comparing the amount of work and material and labor and longevity of the result, it seemed liked I could have about 10 times as much result for about two times the cost. So, I hired Steve.
Description of Work: The job was to remove an existing 25 year old driveway, haul away all debris, and install a new driveway approximately 27 feet in length by 16 feet wide. The existing driveway was lined on both sides with pavers and the work included removing a row of pavers on both sides to facilitate removal and replacement of the old driveway. The pavers were replaced after the new driveway was poured.
