Excellent, They had to work very hard to remove a lot of roots from a large old pine tree that we had removed a month earlier. It was more work than he expected but he did it for the contracted price, was very pleasant about it, and did a great job

Steve and crew arrived on time and got right to work tearing up the damaged portion of the concrete driveway... They cut and removed a fair amount of roots, some pretty large ones included... Right after the new concrete was poured, weather was threatening and they worked furiously to level and then cover the new concrete before the driving rains came... Fortunately, the rain slowed enough for them to uncover and work on finishing the concrete... It ended up being a long day, but the hard work and weather luck saved the day... Steve came back the next day to remove forms and finish up. We are very pleased with the new driveway.

Everything from the initial estimate to the work being done was as expected. They arrived when they said they would, did everything promised and cleaned up afterwards. The work looks great and we would use them again for a concrete job.

Fantastic! Birge's Concrete & Bobcat did an awesome job from start to finish. I waited a month(30 days) before they could start the job BUT it was well worth the wait. Steve and crew showed up on time and completed every phase as he had explained to me. They communicated very professionally about the schedule and delays due to the weather. I would not hesitate at all to hire Birge's again. See the pictures that I have submitted as evidence of a job well done.

Lawn and excess dirt were removed without mechanical equipment in 3 1/2 hrs. No pump was available until next morning. Began pumping at 7am and the entire job was done and everyone gone at 10:10 am, (3 hrs.)

They had to remove a large portion of a broken concrete driveway. They removed an extreme amount of tree roots (some as large as trees) that had damaged the driveway. They were professional, on time, and the results were excellent. My neighbors have frequently stopped to asked who did the wonderful work! Additionally, they repaired part of my pool deck and it also looks awesome!

Birge's concrete was very professional, showed up on time and did an excellent job. I would hire them again anytime.

I needed a small concrete patio poured. After several hiccups regarding an initial appointment to provide an estimate, we finally met - owner Steve and Debi. I found it odd that after agreeing to the price - Debi asked that I pay her in cash - not check....she said she'd prefer it that way rather than having a paper trail?????? Since the agreed price was over a thousand dollars, I asked that she accept the check. She finally agreed. The patio was poured and all seemed fine, except that several days later I discovered a hole in the edging...not large, but not small either....enough that after paying $1200.00 for only a 12x12 small slab, you'd want it fixed. After several calls asking to have this repaired, I finally gave up. They have not responded. This was disappointing, given the fact that they held themselves in such high regard and were so highly rated on Angie's List. Perhaps my small patio was beneath their concern.

We'd been playing musical chairs with our vehicles for a while, but finally decided it was time to make some more room. We calle multiple concrete companies and Birge's Concrete appeared by far the most eager to help. Their prices were extremely reasonable and Steve is a very reassuring person to work with. However, due to the frustration & poor communication experienced between the time we accepted the bid and the work began, I would not recommend Birge's Concrete. The Bid: We called and were easily able to schedule an appointment for the quote. Steve came out at the scheduled time, took some measurements, and let us know he'd have a quote back to us by Monday. Birge's was very punctual, calm, and reassuring throughout this stage of the process. Their quote wasn't the least or most expensive, but they're who we felt most comfortable with, so we called to accept the quote. Scheduling: This is where all of my issues are. After accepting the bid, it took a week to find out we couldn't get on the schedule until 6 weeks out (we'd previously been told they were only booking out 3-4 weeks). Then, we were told we would need to file some paper with the city, but we were never given the location of where the papers should go, how much we'd be expected to pay, or even what form of payment was accepted. In my experience, handling the city & paper work is a part of the service you pay for when contracting with a company. But instead of providing this information, a week before we're scheduled to start, Birge's emails me to say "You will never be able to make it to the office" and that we'll just owe a bit more money. At this point, I'm a bit annoyed and offended that someone is telling me I'll never be able to do something, instead of just providing the information needed. NOTE: replacing a driveway means alternate parking solutions are needed, which we expected, had already planned for, and worked our schedules around. That said, the day before we're scheduled to start, I get a 7:45am voicemail letting me know they're on their way to start demo at 8:30. I'm already at work in a meeting (which is why it went to VM), but dip out to return the call and put a stop to losing our driveway a day earlier than expected. Steve was pretty insistent that not getting started now would cause them to "lose a day" - at which point I had to remind him we weren't scheduled until the following morning. The Work: Just to clarify, so far I have NO MAJOR COMPLAINTS about the work performed. Steve and his crew made quick work of the demo. They broke everything out into well defined daily stages - 1) Demo. 2) Inspection. 3) Frame. 4) Pour + Form. 5) Finishing touches. However, I had no idea about those stages until I saw them for myself - since no one had bothered to let me know how long the entire process would take. During the bid, they said "a couple days," but it was never defined anymore than that. I was minorly upset that after the ground was graded, their version of "compacting" was to run the Bobcat bucket over the ground. However, Steve was very reassuring that the ground was good and wouldn't cause us issues in the future - so I'm okay with taking a wait and see approach. The final product looks great and the quality of Birge's workmanship appears to be everything we'd hoped for. Steve even went a step beyond and buried a PVC under the driveway for us, so we can run electrical in the future. It was a very nice gesture which was greatly appreciated. Overall Feedback: Residential customers need more than a completed job. We don't need to be hand held, but proper expectations need to be set. All we really need to know is: 1) How much? 2) When do we start? 3) What do you need from us? 4) How can we meet those needs? 5) How long will everything take? - In essence, customer focused Project Management.

They came back and tried to fix it, but it peeled off. But the cement they put again was of a different color, and so my driveway looks like a quilt. He lived up to his obligation, he was very righteous in doing what he did, and he did not let me down thus far, except for the last patchwork that is a different color. He did not charge to fix the mistakes. He is a man of honor.

They finished grading late on the first day, and got ready to pour the new driveway the day after the inspection. They finished on time, and did a wonderful job. From start to finish, Steve and his crew worked extremely hard. Very tough conditions due to the root system from a large oak tree running underneath the existing driveway. After breaking up and removing the old concrete, literally hundreds of roots had to be cut and removed. They finished grading late on the first day, and got ready to pour the new driveway the following morning. They finished on time, and did a wonderful job. Steve even came back several days later to check up on the project, and because of the heavy rain the day after they poured, did a few touch ups. The driveway looks fantastic, and we are very pleased.

They took out my old driveway, graded the property, formed it, and poured the concrete. They did it perfectly. They paid attention to every detail. They were very honest. They cleaned up beautifully.

The work was excellent and everything went very smoothly, thanks to all the employees. We even had them come out two weeks later and partially remove a cinder block wall. We were very pleased with that work as well. We will definitely use them again.

Very professional team, did the work promptly and without any fuss. Good company to work with. This company also was the only one of four that I contacted that knew about a change in the way inspections were being done. They were actually in the process of collaborating with other concrete vendors to talk with the city on this new policy.

Very responsive, professional and courteous. Other than weather delays, all work was done on time and for the quoted rate. These guys do quality work -- I would use them again and recommend to others.

Didn't set up forms for brick edging then pumped concrete. Had to remove and redo. Left debris in yard. Removed it after calling about it. Drove bobcat over lawn as a shortcut to break up walkway instead of up driveway where the work was being done. Sloppy.

From initial call, to quote, to work, to clean up, these guys were great! They were up front and true to their word. And they did a n amazing job! Nothing but praise for them.

The yard slopes, so the patio met ground level by the door but was higher at the back which required a handicapped-accessible ramp to be built in. He also replaced a part of the path to the front door and part of the path to one of the pool doors. Mr. Birge helped us with the design and both he and his worker were easy to communicate with, and very responsive, regarding the design details. Mr. Birge was present for the important parts and closely directed the one worker who worked the job. My husband and I were present most of the time and so were readily available to discuss any details that came up. The job took a little longer than expected, mostly due to rain on the day of the scheduled pour, and due to the care taken to detail. Mr. Birge came back to attend to the detail finish work. Mr. Birge's wife is the office administrator. She, her husband and their worker were extremely pleasant, professional, flexible and up-front and there was an excellent level of communication all round. Regarding the price, we had received a quote from another company which was $1,000 more.

Great service. Very personable and easy to do business with! They arrived when they said they would, did what they said they would do (remove old driveway, made a much nicer slope to the garage, poured the driveway and cut in nice expansion joints, all for the agreed upon price.

Birges was an excellent company for the job we needed. Our driveway and sidewalk had cracked and tree roots had undermined and lifted parts of both. We contacted 3 contractors for quotes and Birges was not the absolute lowest price, but the other two contractors did not include the permitting fees and the removal of tree roots, we would have had to pay another company to come out and remove the tree roots. Birges' included pulling all the required permits and cutting out the tree roots.. We had spoken with an arborist in the past and had recommendations from the arborist, which Birges took into account when the cut the roots. The job was completed as scheduled, they were able to work around our a/c unit which was partially overhanging the sidewalk (and even leveled it for us), and the results were great. I would recommend Birges for any concrete work that you may need done.
