Description of Work: Service person evaluated the problem with my washer, fixed a minor problem and gave me a good recommendation on why I shouldn't invest more money on a long-term fix with the current washing machine. I felt the service representative was very thorough and honest and saved me money but not recommending a fix that wouldn't hold up in the long term with this machine.

Description of Work: They replaced a fixture in the back of the stove.

Description of Work: Requested estimate for repair of freezer/refrigerator not cooling properly. Phone attendant and repairman appropriately responsive and mannered. BUT . . . while the problem was correctly assessed, the recommendations for repair were, at best, limited and, at worst, fraudulent. A coolant leak was detected. The only recommendations were: 1) Repair for $2700 or 2) Replace the entire unit. I sought second opinions. Another certified repairman (in good standing on "The List") also determined that a leak was the problem. His recommendation was vastly different. He said that leak was very small, and could be addressed by simply re-charging the unit with coolant. He assured me that coolant leaking was not a hazard (which I confirmed through other, independent sources), and it could be reassessed every 2-3 years. Price: $75. Given this extraordinary contrast in recommendations, I feel that Better Homes tried to take advantage of the situation and "upsale" the repair. By the way, fridge/freezer working just fine with the coolant charge.

Description of Work: Replaced the safety switch on the washer.

Description of Work: Our dishwasher had a sand-like residue on dishes. Better Homes came out, fixed it and told us how to prevent future problems. The 2nd time we used them they did a great job repairing our washing machine.

Description of Work: CHARGED ME $128 AND DID NOT REPAIR WATER HEATER AFTER 2 TRIPS. WE HAD ZERO HOT WATER

Description of Work: CLOTHES DRYER WAS REPAIRED. IT SOUNDED AS IF A CONCRETE BLOCK WAS INSIDE INSIDE THE DRYER WHEN IT WAS ON. FOR AN EXTREMELY REASONABLE AMOUNT OF MONEY, LOTS OF BELTS AND WHEELS WERE REPLACED AS PART OF A MAINTENANCE KIT. IT WAS FIXED WITHIN HALF AN HOUR, AND IT'S WORKING LIKE NEW NOW.

Description of Work: AFTER TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES WITH 2-3 VISITS EACH TRIED TO REPAIR OUR DISHWASHER WE CONTACTED ANGIE'S LIST. JACK SHOWED UP ON TIME AND TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN ALL THE POSSIBLE THINGS THAT COULD BE WRONG AND EACH WAS CANCELLED OUT BY MY RESPONSE, 'I DO THAT.' HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO LOOKED UNDER THE SINK. THE HOSE FROM THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL WAS LAYING FLAT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CABINET RATHER THAN LIKE A LETTER U TO FORM A TRAP. THUS DEBRIS FROM DISPOSAL WAS GOING INTO DISHWASHER AND DISHES WERE COMING OUT DIRTIER THAN WHEN I PUT THEM IN. NOW THEY SPARKLE!

Description of Work: CALLED ABOUT A LEAKY WASHER. JACK CAME OUT 4 HOURS LATER. TOOK A FEW MINUTES TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIRED IT QUICKLY. UNBELIEVABLE SERVICE!
