Response from Bayside Heating & Air Conditioning Inc
This Service call was performed almost a year ago on 1/27/04. We did a maintenance service on this customer central heating and air system for a reduced rate of $44.95. At the time of service, it was pointed out to the customer that the 13 year - old evaporator coil was impacted and very dirty. He was quoted $ 95.00 to do a chemical cleaning and the customer agreed. The tech treated the coil with the chemical coil cleaner. After the coil cleaner softened the debris that had built up he then brushed the surface clean. On some systems where pulling the coil is required it is necessary to cut the coil out with a torch. The Freon in the system must be evacuated and then reclaimed. The coil is then taken outside and chemically cleaned. Afterwards, the coil is then welded back into place and the system is recharged with refrigerant. The charge for this service would normally cost between $300.00 to $400.00. After reviewing the invoice, it appears to us that this customer received the ful

Description of Work: THE SITUATION IS A LITTLE COMPLICATED. WE HIRED BAYSIDE. THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND WERE VERY NEAT AND PROFESSIONAL. THE INSTALLATION DID NOT PASS INSPECTION SO THEY HAD TO COME OUT AND PUT THE COMPRESSOR ON A CONCRETE SLAB AND ANCHOR THE UNIT TO THAT. THEY DID SO, AND I BELIEVE THEY PAID THE REINSPECTION FEE. WHAT WE DO NOT YET HAVE IS A CLEARANCE LETTER STATING THAT THE SUPPLIER WAS PAID. I REQUESTED THAT BY PHONE BUT THEY THOUGHT I WANTED A PAID RECEIPT SO THEY SENT ME A RECEIPT THAT WE PAID. I WILL HAVE TO WRITE THEM TO GET IT, I GUESS. I THINK IT WOULD BE A SERVICE FOR ANGIE'S LIST TO WRITE AN ARTICLE IN THE MAGAZINE ABOUT FLORIDA'S PECULIAR LAWS ALLOWING SUPPLIERS OF CONTRACTORS TO PUT A LIEN ON THE CUSTOMER'S HOME WHEN THE CONTRACTOR DOES NOT PAY THE SUPPLIER. IT ISN'T THIS WAY IN LOTS OF OTHER STATES. COMING FROM MA, I WOULD NEVER SUSPECT THAT A HOMEONWNER COULD BE FORCED TO PAY THE CONTRACTOR'S OBLIGATION, EVEN WHEN THE HOMEOWNER HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING THE DEBT EXISTS!
