BAKER ROOFING INC

--Home inspector noted the leaky roof before we moved in. The seller contacted Baker to repair it and he slapped some tar around and said it was repaired. --The roof continued to leak and we called Baker again. He came out with his crew and threw some more roof cement around. This repair attempt was also ineffective. --After the second attempt, the Baker roofing company, including the owner refused to answer their cell, the office phone or email. They completely ignored us. I tried a couple other roofers to patch it until finally calling the pros as Arry's Roofing. They noted shoddy materials and workmanship and recommend completely replacing the roof for $5000. Picture enclosed use at your own peril.

The installation went well, so I thought. Last year, a roof leak left a 3' long brown stain with small holes in the popcorn ceiling of the computer room. After several calls to Mr. Baker, he finally came to repair the roof. I asked what would be done about the stain and was told to go to Home Depot and buy a can of a certain type of spray to cover it, which I did not do. As of today (8/21/12), this area has not leaked again. 8/4/12 - A second leak developed around the air vent in the same room. I made several calls to Mr. Baker, who does not answer his phone, & left messages. About a week after, I received a call from a lady who said she did not know when the roof would be repaired. 8/20/12 - The area at the air vent leaked again. This time, a large bubble of paint/popcorn material formed approx. 3" x 5" in size. I stood on a chair & poked a couple holes in the bubble so the water could drain. If I had not done this, the bubble would have opened sooner or later, dumping water on my computer table. As it was, before I noticed the dripping water, it had spashed on paperwork and into CD covers that were on the table. I placed a bucket on the table to catch the water, and after cleaning up this mess, I left another message on Mr. Baker's answering machine, explaining about the larger leak, and if he did not fix it by the end of the next day (8/21/12), I was prepared to mail a formal complaint of 8 pages to the Dept. of Bus. & Prof. Regulation in Tallahassee. I received no reply from Mr. Baker. I filed a report on Angie's list, but under a different company name, Clearwater Roofing Services, Inc. as that is how it is listed on the internet. I couldn't find a listing on Angie's list under that name. 8/21/12 - It rained again and we now have a third leak. Water ran down the ceiling paddle fan, dripping on my computer chair and forming a large puddle on the floor. At this time, the area around the ceiling vent was not leaking. I have placed another bucket under the fan to catch water. Tomorrow I will mail the paperwork to Tallahassee. I also have to call a reputable roofer to get the roof fixed before any more damage is done, since Mr. Baker seems to have no intention of repairing the roof. The ceiling will have to be repaired also. In looking through the paperwork from Mr. Baker, I could find no statement guaranteeing his work, only that he installed the 25-yr roof.
