Had a service call on Friday before instillation, which resulted in instillation of compressor start kit.(outside unit failed to turn on) This was an indication that compressor was on its last leg. I requested a replacement cost for both inside and outside units. Although i did not need to replace unit that day I decided to go ahead and replace both since inside unit was 20 years plus old. Service tech was very knowledgeable and friendly. We decided to go with a Trane 20i top of line unit cost $9500.00 Instillation was scheduled for the following Monday at 8 am Installers showed up on time at 8 am which was greatly appreciated. There were 3 installers . All the techs seemed to know what they were doing and were willing to answer any questions and were very personable . Over all it took about 6 hours with a couple of minor problems to solve. They cleaned up so that you didn't know that they had been there. First rate job.

Our unit went out during a cold snap. Temp in the house was 49 at night. Cornerstone AC had tried to fix, but after 3 service calls and $1200, the still did not get it right. Advanced gave is a quote that was better then Cornerstone even with a the discount they gave us for the failed service call. In a nutshell, fair, honest, effeciant, and good price.

Mr. Gavel put in our two air conditioning systems in 2007. Last Friday afternoon I noticed that the main house unit was not producing cold air. I called the company and Mr. Gavel himself came within 40 minutes. He attached a diagnostic device to the wiring, and determined that the motor and controller unit had failed. I thought and quot;Oh, NO -no a/c for the weekend!!and quot;. But Mr. Gavel drove a far distance to pick up the parts himself, and returned with one of his technicians to complete the repairs so that we had ice cold air by Friday evening! This is just one example of the company's responsiveness. We have always been pleased with their service, and recommend them to our friends. Mr. Gavel is the author of a book Air Conditioning The Cool And EZ Way that is very helpful - he will give you a copy, but it's also available on Amazon.

We have been using ACS to service our two air conditioning systems for over 10 years. This time, as always, their service was prompt, coutious, and totaly succesful.

After having our AC unit serviced 3 times in 2 months and considering the age and condition of our AC, it was recommended that we replace it. We had three companies provide an estimate. Advanced Cooling was nearly $2,000 less than the company that we had been using and they provided us with a 12 year warranty rather than a 10 year that the other company was going to provide. Advanced Cooling installed our air conditioner the next day. The installation went very smoothly. We live in a condo and the unit had to be installed on the roof which necessitated the use of a crane. We choose Advanced Cooling largely based on the reviews here on Angie's List. I am very glad we did and am glad to recommend this company without reservation. A great job.

I called them on a Friday evening, the repair guy was out Saturday morning at about 8:00. They were fantastic. The salesman was here Monday and they installed the system Tuesday so they were very on ball. I am very happy with them.

Well the gentleman came in less than one hour. He had been spending his wedding anniversary with his wife having a meal at City Fish. Boy do I feel bad - but he came and fixed it with a smile.

Called multiple air conditioning companies. All showed up except one to give estiments. Advanced Cooling was not the cheapest nor the most expensive. I think the main reason they were picked was the warrranty on the Trane system and it seemed more in line for what i was looking for. My first contact with the company was the gentleman giving the evaluation /estimate. Showed up on time for the apponitment and was thorough; callled with some follow up questions and they were promptly annswered to my satisfaction. I decided to hire them and the install was scheduled the same week. The installers showed up on time and were very professional in the way they conducted themselves. They took great care in being neat and not beating up my house. They did not finish the job compleatly the first day and were here promptly the next day to complete the job. The were there to answer any questions I had and gave instruction on how to operate the new system. There was a little problem with the county inspection but they were on the money to correct the issue. The only thing left to do is balance the system and they suggested i wait to the summer heat sets in to get a feel for how the system is operating. I would recommend them and hire them again.

They were really good, neat and came on time. They seemed to have a really good product with an excellent warranty. I got a number of quotes and although they were not the lowest quote they were the best as far as the warranty and expense together. They were excellent in every way; there is nothing I would say they needed to do better. I wanted a specific brand of unit and their price was better for a comparable system than other companies I looked at.

They are easy to work with and reasonably priced.

They were just wonderful! They told us everything we needed to know upfront, including everything would need for an energy credit rebate and even filed it for us! They were very clean, worked hard and very friendly as well.

I should have written things down before this because my heater was put in on Novemeber. He came and took out the old furnance. He put in the new one. He said I will get a 500.00 dolar rebate from Teco but I have yet to recieve the money. Today, I sent an e-mail to the company to find out why I still did not recieve it. I found out that gas heat is cheaper than electric heat. I did not know that.

The service was fine. They were punctual and available the next day.

The new system has been working great and I am waiting to see if my electric bill will go down.

Within 24 hours I had a new evaporator coil in my air handler. I would recommend this company to anyone with a TRANE system.

The entire process was smooth from start to finish. Starting with the quotation process, Curt came out to the house on schedule at the agreed time to look over the system and discuss my needs and answer any questions. Curt is very knowledgeable on all aspects of HVAC, very informative and took the time to answer all of my questions before he left to prepare the quote. A couple of days later, I received his proposal presented in a nice folder along with manufacturers brochures of the equipment contained in the proposal. The proposal offered a number of options at different price points and would allow the job to be tailored to my exact requirements. Due to the different options, I wanted to be sure I was making the best choice for the long term since the A/C will last for many years. I called for a second appointment and again Curt arrived on time and took the time to explain the pros and cons of the various options. His attention to detail and professionalism up to this point was far greater than the experience I have had with other companies. Even though I had received (slightly) lower priced quotations from other companies I decided to hire Curis L Gavel for the job. The installation date was agreed and the installation techs arrived on time and despite a wet rainy day went about their business quickly and quietly. Everything went smoothly during the installation, and by late afternoon the new system was up and running with ice cold air blowing through the house. The installation techs put down drop cloths before they started work and left the house clean and tidy. The final step was the inspection by the county inspector. As well as applying for the permit before the job commenced, Curt also took care of scheduling the follow up inspection at a time that suited my schedule. The inspector commented that the installation was done very well which confirmed that my decision to use Curtis L Gavel Air Conditioning and Heating was the right way to go. A professional and painless experience from start to finish.

My immediate comments are that the ACS personnel are professional, punctual and personable! I am EXTREMELY pleased with the work they performed! I asked ACS to access a problematic AC situation. They came up with a conservative fix that fit my budget..I then asked for a more aggressive fix and then ultimately asked them about replacing the entire handler and condenser with a new Trane system. Ultimately, I felt that replacing everything made the most sense from a cost and viability standpoint! Jeff Rappaport was the one who inspected our situation and gave us our estimate. He was extremely patient with me as I asked lots of questions and requested multiple quotes. He helped us as we went through the decision making process regarding the work my husband and I wanted performed and what equipment we wanted installed. On our install day, Eric, Josh and Phillip showed up on time and smiling. They got to work immediately by making sure that our carpets were protected and then began the removal of our old system. Each of ACS's three professionals knew exactly what their roles were and got to work with no hesitation or delay. Several times during the install process, Jeff came by to check on the project and make sure his people had everything they needed and to check with me as to my satisfaction. This was really wonderful. Coincidentally and concurrently during the installation process, I had a team of contractors doing some other work on our home. As contractors, they are very familiar with AC work and commented on what a great job the ACS professionals were doing! That made me feel even better about having hired ACS! Once the installation was completed, the ACS professionals vacuumed and cleaned the area in which they were working. They then showed me exactly what work they had done, explained how to use the equipment and gave me a warranty and other paperwork. I am extremely pleased with the work that ACS did and would absolutely call them again with any other AC needs I may have in the future.

I had to replace my 18 year old 2 ton heat pump. I obtained estimates from 4 other heating and A/C companies in the Pinellas and Pasco County area. All vendors were obtained from Angie's list and had at least an A rating. Advanced Cooling Systems provided the best price for a 3 ton heat pump. While I was looking for a good price, that was not the selling point. Jeff Rapaport took the time to ask questions about my house and current unit. He answered all my questions and provided information on other brands that I had previously researched. Both Karen an Jim where great about answering my questions and concerns. Karen provided me with my warranty and rebate documents in a timely manner. The installation was completed by Eric and Josh; both were knowledgeable, courteous and professionally dressed. They arrived on schedule and installed the unit in the time agreed. They cleaned up and NO debris of any kind was left behind. My unit was installed on July 12, 2012; I have not had any issues with my unit. I give Advanced Cooling Systems an A+.

I think he's an honest fellow, he knows the business, been around for a long time, and he's actually located pretty close to me. I just think he's honest and he gave me quality service.

My story is a bit lengthy, but at the outset, I'll say that I can recommend Advanced Cooling Systems. I gave a grade of "A" on all areas, except "Quality", where I gave them a "C". They did not fix my air conditioner at the first visit, nor on a subsequent visit, however it was only happenstance that prevented me from calling on them a third time. I originally called them on June 19 to service my 3.5 ton Goodman, which is 10 years old. My complaint was that it just wasn't cooling as well as it once did. I know that it may indeed be on the decline, but hoped to squeeze as much time as I could from the unit. The tech arrive promptly and inspected the outside compressor/condenser, and told me he suspected a coolant leak. He said that coolant was low (5.5 lbs.) and added aprox 2 lbs. to bring it up to capacity. He then tried to detect any coolant leaks in the system, but did not find any. I paid him for the service call and hoped that lower temperatures would follow. Two weeks later, I hadn't experienced any improvement, so I asked for another check. Advanced Cooling informed me that any re-calls for the same problem would carry no minimum charge, but only charges for work performed. Unfortunately the next tech did not find any decrease in the head pressure (which would confirm a coolant leak) and informed me that worn systems can just not perform at the same efficiency over their entire life and it may be time to consider a new system. He did not do any other diagnosing, as he probably trusted the original tech's diagnosis and I guess I don't blame him for that. I then called Jeff Rappaport at Advanced Cooling and asked him to come to my home and give me an estimate to replace the air conditioner. I also called two other companies to perform similar estimates. Jeff was prompt, professional and thorough in his explanation of options and covered all the associated inspections and all details of proposed work along with credit options. He patiently answered all my questions and left me with written descriptions of the proposed systems, we'd discussed. It was when I visited with the third company for an estimate for a new air conditioner that the picture gets foggy. After hearing my overview of recent events, he looked at my system. He noted high head pressure, high amperage draw (close to max) and a temperature split that was excessive. I'm not technical, but I was told that a temperature split is the difference between air coming out of the compressor/condenser and the air returning from the home and the optimum is 18 - 20 degrees. This tech from the new (third) company told me that his split was 23 degrees and he thought that could be a sign of over charging of the coolant. Now up until now, I didn't know the dangers of that, but it can cause damage to the unit and cause higher energy costs. He let some coolant out of the system and also told me the main thing he noticed is that the connection to my supply plenum (where air passes into the air handler) was leaking badly and should be fixed. Because his visit was for an estimate, he wasn't equipped to fix it properly, but offered to at least tape the connection securely enough to relieve the system of stress and offer me better cooling until another tech could visit, which he arranged for the next day. He indicated that charging the system beyond capacity could give cooler temperatures, but over time this would destroy my system. He also intimated that many companies in Florida are more interested in selling than fixing and He wouldn't be surprised if this "fix" (adding excessive coolant, rather than patching the plenum leak) was done intentionally. I do not believe that, but be warned that such practices are not uncommon. Now I had conflicting opinions as to what ailed my system , so I found myself in the uncomfortable position of guessing which company to trust. Indeed it's like going to a doctor for a second opinion and receiving an alternate diagnosis at the second doctor. I still don't know if this second fix will give me satisfaction or a longer time with my current unit, but I accepted his advice and help and began to think that Advanced Cooling may have either been inept or dishonest. I immediately called Jeff Rappaport from Advanced Cooling to have him explain why my poorly connected plenum had not been diagnosed properly and indeed he did know about this issue, for when he had visited originally to give me an estimate for a new system, he took a look at my system and informed me of the problem. It was the first time I'd been aware of that problem. The two previous visits from Advanced Cooling techs had not alerted me to the leaking plenum. At the time when Jeff Rappaport visited to give me estimates for a new system, my mind was probably more focused on digesting estimates on new systems, so I did not ask about repairing that problem at that time. When I re-called Jeff and asked why he hadn't recommended fixing the leak, he responded that he thought he'd been up front with me about the issue, but also thought that I was more inclined to move on to a new system. Indeed Jeff did inform me of the issue with the plenum leak at his visit for the new system estimate, but he did not encourage me to fix it. I had been clear that any purchase would have to be on credit but at the same time I asked him to price some more high end systems for my review. These mixed signals could have influenced Jeff to concentrate on a new system, rather than patching the existing one. I can only recommend to others that if purchase is really a struggle, then you need to be clear with the representative of any company. Jeff also warned that the third company may have put me in a less than optimum cooling position by draining coolant from the system. From his statements and some other research, determining the appropriate amount of coolant is a complicated business. This statement placed doubt in my mind about the third company tech, but I still have no conclusion about that. Did Jeff or any tech from Advanced Cooling act dishonestly? I don't think so, but maybe the original tech or the follow up tech could have done a better job. This may have prevented me from shopping for a new unit in the first place. When I called him to discuss the outcome here, he assured me that he'd have been happy to repair the system if it hadn't been already fixed. As another company performed the latest repair, I had no need to have Advanced Cooling perform any more repairs. I don't know if either the first or second repair helped or hurt and maybe only time will tell, I can only comment on what I do know and that is that I'd call Advanced Cooling again.

We recently purchased two new high efficiency, top of the line Trane units and are very pleased with their performance. The professional team of Jim Osiel and Jeff Rapaport, installers Eric and Phil, and Karen, the office coordinator, made this a very pleasant experience. The installation and inspection went very smoothly. The inspector even commented on what a good, neat job the installers had done. My wife and I want to thank Advanced Cooling Systems “Team” and Angie’s List. Their top ranking is well deserved!
