I was referred by a friend and contacted this contractor for help with an error code on my Kenmore Washing machine. I provided him with the model number and error code on the machine and he stated that he had to purchase a part for it and brought this with him for the appointment. The washing machine was in my rental unit and I was not there for the service, but the tenant was pleased with the service. The main issue was the total cost, which was a total surprise. Upon completion, I was presented with a $240 bill, including a service charge of $65, a labor charge of $65 and parts for $100 for a total of $240. He never told me up front how much the part was, that there was a service charge and how much the total estimate was. I requested this by e-mail the day prior to the repair, but never got a reply. He said that he called me when he did the service, but I never got any missed calls from him. the machine got repaired and I heard from the tenant that there was a sock stuck in the machine, causing the error. I was never informed this by the contractor and he just told me that it was the part that he ordered that needed to be replaced. This made me question if the part truly needed to be replaced or not. When I questioned the $240 invoice, he asked me to get other quotes and that he would match it. I have used Sears parts and service before and have been very happy. They do charge you a service fee, but if they fix the machine, they do not charge you this fee. They also provide you with a 20% discount on parts. I did not get an official quote from them to have it matched, as I would expect to receive a fair quote and final pricing up front. I feel that I did not get either, as I was not informed how much the ordered part was and then how much the additional fees were going to be. If I knew he would charge me the fees, I would have gone with a certified Sear technician and take advantage of no service fee and discount on parts. In the end, the contractor got a quote from Sears by phone, which with the discount would have been lower then what I paid him, but he never offered to reduce the charged rate. I was happy that the work was done and the machine is working again, just not the rate charged and how this was handled. I prefer to do business with smaller companies as long as their pricing is competitive without me having to prove it that a nationwide company is offering lower pricing. I hate to leave a negative review, but I did not get anywhere when I told him that I was not happy and I did not feel that he cared to resolve this, so Angie's list is the only way to share with you my experience, so that you are able to make your own decision. I would recommend getting an upfront quote from him to know exactly what you will be paying so that you can make an informed decision.

He knew his product line very well and fixed the problem immediately. He also gave us tips on how to better set up and run our kegerator more efficiently. Although it took him a couple of weeks to get to us, we clearly understand it is because he is excellent at what he does and in demand.

Easy to contact and set an appointment. Service technician arrived on time, identified the problem, and completed the repair. All work was explained and work area was left clean. I am happy with the service I recieved and the price was fair.

Marty does great work. He's punctual, neat, (worries about things like footprints on floor as it was a rainy day), personable and reasonably priced. He diagnosed the problem and made the repair (replacing a damper door that diverts cool air from the freezer section) without trying to oversell me on unnecessary parts. While there, he remembered that my model refrigerator had a service bulletin on it's ice maker - it would overflow a little on each cycle causing a build-up of ice that eventually clogged the ice maker. He found that mine had not been modified so he went out to his truck and found the part on a used ice maker. He was very upfront telling me it was a used part but that he thought it would do the trick. It was just a plastic snap-on part so I agreed to take the used part. Marty would not take any money for the part. He thought I would be able to install it so he gave me the instructions and saved me an additional service charge! What a guy! I wish Marty lived in the new town we moved too. He's terrific.

Called to describe the problem and the owner Marty came by the same day and had the problem diagnosed in 10 mins. The part was already on order -- common problem -- and he had already used the last one on his truck so he could not fix it right away. so he gave an estimate, and told me when he could come back - 2 business days later. He was back as promised and had it fixed quickly and efficiently! Very professional, good price and great service Recommend without qualification and I'll call him next time myself.

I had been very happy with Angel's Appliance Repair and was disappointed that Angel had closed his business. I contacted Southeast Steel from whom I bought the appliance and they recommended SIMCO. I've always trusted the folks at Southeast Steel so went with there recommendation. Marty, the owner, arrived on time and did a quick diagnosis. He narrowed it down to two options, a thermostat or a controller board. The controller board would be more expensive so we agreed to try the thermostat fix. Marty said we would know overnight if that was the fix. If not he would come back and replace the controller and would not charge me for a second service charge. While looking at the unit he noticed the ice maker was leaking. He immediately knew that I had an older design water feed guide and went off to dig through his truck for the newer design. He found one and gave it to me free of charge. Sure enough, the freezer did not get cold overnight. I called Marty and he was there in about 2 hours after he finished another job. He trouble shot the controller and ended up replacing it. While talking with Marty I learned that he actually helped GE evaluate designs. That kind of knowledge is invaluable. I highly recommend SIMCO.

The representative was very professional, quite knowledgeable and very giving of pertinent information. Fees charged were correct for labor performed. I will highly recommend the company for large appliance repair.
