I feel blessed to have found Ron Schnaufer to build my home. I had a 1971 Rutenberg home that I owned for 24 years and it needed a ton of renovations. After consulting with Ron, we decided financially and structurally, the best thing to do was to knock it down and start all over. I spoke with several other builders, however, after checking Ron's references, I decided to go with Westshore Homes and could not be more pleased. I needed someone I could trust because I lived 300 miles away and would not be there very often to oversee the progress. I was fortunate to have neighbors that kept me informed, along with Ron that I spoke with at least once a week. My neighbors said he was there almost every day making sure things kept moving with the contractors. When something wasn't done right, he had them redo it. He treated my home like it was his own, and it was done in less than a year, on budget with high-end finishes and quality work. Anyone that comes into my home asks who the builder was because they are amazed at the quality and construction. For years I only heard horror stories about building a new home in Lee County, but I can honestly say if you choose Ron to build or renovate your home, you will not be disappointed. He is honest, dependable and takes pride in the work he does and will go above and beyond to make sure you are totally satisfied. On a side note: My home and my neighbor's home were knocked down the same day. I've been in my home for 6 months and he may not be in his for 3 or 4 more months he said. He has said more than once he wishes he would have met with Ron before he went with his builder. I think that says a lot about Ron and his dedication to getting the job done in a reasonable time frame, and on budget! If you do your homework and read the testimonials on his website, you will understand the type of person you will be hiring to build or renovate your home! Top-notch in every way!

He was very prompt- came out to my home the same week to review scope of work, had what appeared to be great suggestions for our project. The issue- he never bothered to provide an estimate or follow up. Business must be very good to pass in a +$150K kitchen remodel and bathroom refresh.

Can not say enough about Ron Schnaufer, owner of Westshore Homes and Renovations. Feel we won the lottery by choosing him as our builder. His attention to detail is second nature and has made our building process fun. He has a lot of experience and it shows. He's always available and is tremendous help in eliminating stress that often accompanies the building process. His ability to strategically stage a custom built home has been the biggest blessing. From moving the dishwasher to better accommodate convenience to eliminating closet doors as a way to create more workable space are just a couple to mention... Mistakes are inevitable when building, however having a professional eye that is able to catch and correct quickly is vitally important thus creating a smooth building process for the customer. During our building process we had a tornado go down our street causing significant damage to just about every home... Our structure was virtually untouched. I credit this to the high quality material used and thorough workmanship. Ron even hired a private inspector who was more thorough than the one provided by the city. Ron Schnaufer exceeding all expectations. Our home is more beautiful then ever imagined! Not only beautiful, but also convenient and well organized. Choosing Ron was the best decision we made. Westshore Homes remodeled our master bath and we couldn?t be more pleased with the final product. We were concerned about making such a large investment at our age and in such an old home. However, also really wanted a bathroom that finally reflected modern standards and accessories. Ron, the owner of Westshore Homes, sat with us and listened to our impressions of an ideal master bath and made countless suggestions about design, features, and materials. He also understood our design to tightly manage the budget and he presented us with a detailed contract with all the fees clearly stated. The prices were fair and the finished product exceeded our expectations. Ron?s workers were always at the house by 8:00 a.m. They always completed their daily assignments and cleaned up their work materials prior to departing. We hired Westshore to upgrade a smaller second bathroom because we were so pleased with the master bath and our entire experience. The second bathroom now has a nice spa feeling. His work included a new jetted tub, marble tile, new vanity, mirror, light fixture, etc. Ron even recommended installing a pocket door that helped eliminate some of the space constraints. We always appreciated his contributions to design and alternative solutions when our preferences weren?t always practical. I strongly recommend Ron and Westshore Homes.

Working with Ron was a pleasure. He is up front and honest and a good worker. He does quality work. It took 3 weeks for wellborn to complete the cabinet order and as soon as they came in, Ron was right there to install them. In chatting with him, I learned that he was a general contractor back in Ohio and built 100's of houses.. Of all the proposals I got I choose Westshore because of concise breakdown of labor and material costs. All the bids I got were about the same for cabinet costs but his labor costs were lower. I highly recommend Ron for any remodel jobs you might have.

This could have been a real disaster if Ron had not known what he was doing. This was a very efficient and knowledgeable person. I worked for a builder for many years and never have I seen a more competent person. He also installed bathroom cabinetry for us and was prompt to come back on a call back adjustment. I left the house while he was doing the work and felt very comfortable doing so. I would highly recommend Westshore Homes & Renovation for any building or remodeling job. We have full intention of having him do more work for us. To give you a example of his thoughtfulness, He came to adjust a cabinet door and my front door was rubbing on the frame when it closed and so Ron fixed it for me at no charge. Very honest and workmanship of a very high quality.

It went very well. Ron was very helpful, and helped us through many of the unexpected issues that arise during a remodeling.

Fantastic! Ron came initially to give us a quote and help with the design. We ended up changing the plan from what we had initially discussed and Ron was flexible and adapted well to our changes. Warning--like me, Ron is opinionated-, it is a good thing when people who have many years of experience are willing to share their views/experiences. Some things he "won" on and some things we stuck with our ideas. I think it worked out really well. He is meticulous and detailed. Perfect for finish carpentry. He had to adjust my store bought cabinets to fit properly--this took a lot of extra time. Tearing up the tile floors is normally a huge mess--they had everything completed taped off to control the dust--it worked great until the plumber came in and jack hammered the floor without readjusting the tarps. Ron stated up front that he does not paint. His finish work is incredible--but he does not fill the nail holes--so that will take the painter extra time. We would hire Ron again in a flash--in fact we recommended him to some friends and he did a major remodel on their house and they are even happier than us!

Westshore Homes was presented with a punch list upon hiring from the home inspector we had before closing. We also wanted them to do a kitchen & main bath remodel, install new sheetrock in one wall as well as remodel the wet bar area. There were also various electrical challenges from the punch list and others found during the remodeling that we wanted them to fix. They did a good job getting our cabinets to fit in the kitchen but didn't have a reliable sub for ceilings, cabinets, or granite counter tops. I found my own granite contractor. The ceiling subcontractor sprayed knock down over everything and there was a lot of unnecesary cleanup that my wife and I were left with. Plus we can still see the seam between the new and old ceilings in the kitchen. As far as electrical goes, even though Westshore Homes said he was a licensed electrician, we still have switches that don't turn anything on, he removed a fan in the main bathroom but that killed power to outlets in the adjacent bedroom, I had to hire my own electrician to sort it out. I had Westshore install an electrical box in the kitchen ready for a future ceiling fan. Months later I decided to install the fan but there is No power to that electical box! I took the ceiling fan back and may consider later once I get my electrician back in. I wanted Westshore homes to resolve the electrical issues in the back yard dock area but he wouldn't do it, always had an excuse. Again had to hire my own electrician to complete the work. Felt like we were being nickled and dimed to death because this or that was Not included in the contracted work. Like if you are doing a kitchen remodel and remove the appliances, you should be reinstalling the appliances as part of the install. He never did complete the initial punch list! Always felt like he just wanted to do the bigger jobs. Didn't really take pride in doing the work and cut corners, left holes in the walls behind the kitchen cabinets, etc.

He did a fine job. Good communications, trustworthy. He did a great job.

Will report more when job is complete. Doing complete gut and remodel of home, i.e. kitchen, bathrooms, floors, doors, trim, etc.

Ron did a great job,always here on time cleaned up after and made sure i was satisfied with end results. I contracted him to do all my crown molding, door jams and floor molding, unfortunately rooms and house had many problems with not being real square, he was able to correct problem so the end results looked outstanding. i would highly recommend him to do any renovation project and would use him again when the need arises.
