Description of Work: I first saw the work of Stephen-Todd at a showing while looking for a second home in Southwest Florida. When I purchased a Condominium in Fort Myers I remembered the name and looked them up. I went online and found their number on Angie's List with a single review that somehow did not jive with the workmanship I saw beforehand. I phoned one of the Principals, spoke with him, told him of the review on Angie's List, listened to his explanation of the unfortunate event and the clear misunderstanding the complaintant had about what EXACTLY Stephen Todd do. After speaking to him, meeting with him at our Condominium, and visiting him at his store in Cape Coral, we were believers; there is no way the review in Angie's List was correct! We signed on and have never been happier! Having said that, I want to set the record straight. This group of PROFESSIONALS extended themselves in every way possible to make my new dream home complete. His (Steve) approach was always open, he was clear in his descriptions of what he could do by himself and working through trusted surrogates. He arranged for painters, tile and granite installers, closet specialist installation, funiture, drapery, and Artwork acquisitions, and did all of this while my wife and I worked in Buffalo. He worked with my security personnel at the Condominium where I purchased my new home. Ever the gentleman, always cognizant of costs, willing to listen, he created for us a respite from the stressors of our professional lives here in Buffalo, New York. There are not enough hours in the day that we could accomplish (in such short a time) as he did for us. Stephen Todd=A+

Description of Work: I called Stephen Todd, owner of Stephen Todd Interiors and Carribean Home stores in June of 2011 to ask if they provided help in re-decorating. Stephen told me on the phone that his policy was to "consult" with a client for one hour in the home to get started with the process. The charge for that hour was $180.00 which could be applied later for credit in purchases from either of his stores. He told me that at the time, he was pretty "booked up" with previous appointments but to call him again when I returned to FL. I came back to Florida in Sept. for one week and he told me that his price had gone up to $230.00 for the initial consult. I agreed and he came to my home and videotaped and discussed what I didn't like about my place and what might be done to change it. He agreed to get me flooring estimates and a sample to mail to me while I was back up North. He called me "up North" weeks later and said that he didn't like the sample he had gotten from his installer and would prefer to wait til I returned to go further. My husband and I drove down in October and arrived late at night. In the morning, my neighbor woke us up with a call that her installer was putting in a floor and asked if I would like an estimate. I said yes, why not ? Later in the morning I called Stephen and told him what had happened. He told me to take my estimate for a new floor since it was lower than his. After that phone discussion, he would not return my phone calls to him. So I went to the store, saw his partner who made it very clear that I was not welcome there. I finally called Stephen again and said that I would just "wait on the line" until Stephen was free to talk to me. When he came to the phone, he told me that "he knew" I was going to "nickle and dime him to death" and that he wanted nothing further to do with me. I asked him to return my money and he said that he had gotten me a floor estimate. I reminded him that I know that estimates are free and hardly worth $230.00. He told me that he would return my money. I agreed but then I heard his partner in the background telling him not to. Stephen then said that he changed his mind and he would not return my money and I was not welcome in either of his stores. So, not only do I feel that I was cheated out of what I was promised, I was extremely insulted in the process !! In December, I wrote him a letter and said that I was sorry that we had gotten off on the wrong foot and that I would like to hear from him within two weeks how we could best resolve this situation. He has never replied and this is now late January.
