I used Rossmans's to manage a rental unit in Florida. I live out of state. In February I received a call from a neighbor tellling me there was a moving truck in front of my rental home and that my tenant was moving out with 2 months left on the lease. I immediately tried to contact the property Manager to find out what was going on, however she was no where to be found. I did finally reach the Office Manager who told me nothing there was noth I could do, if the tenant wanted to move, I just had to let it go. After the moving truck had been filled with the tenants belongings she rang the neighbors door to say goodby and leave the keys. The tenant explained to the neighbor that she had told the Property Manager that she had to break the lease and move for personal reasons and asked for help. However, the response she received from the Property Manager was " do whatever you want to because I'm leaving Rossman's in two weeks" Once again I contacted the Office Manager who confirmed it was true, that particular Property Manager was leaving the company. So it seems she was a disgruntled employee who made her unhappiness my problem. Had she communicated to anyone that the tenant needed to break the lease I would have had the opportunity to find a new tenant. Fast forward, Rossman's found a new tenant who was supposed to move in on April 1st, she paid her deposit and Rossman's took down the listing. However, the new tenant failed to show up to sign the lease April 1st, I was told "she was probaly busy, people do is all the time" I insisted the tenant be contacted to find out what was going on. Finally on April 3rd I was told the tenant would not be moving in because she had second thoughts about renting from me because I would not allow her to have three pets and two friends who were not on the lease move in with her?? No problem, except that Rossman's took what was essentially my deposit and is helping her find a more pet friendly home? I can't honestly blame Rossmans for not giving the deposit to me because I signed the contract saying they had exclusive rights to make a decision as to whether they would keep a deposit. House still not rented and I have not been able to reach the new Property Manager to get a status on any showings.
