There were issues surrounding installation that I had to solve myself. But the real surprise came 3 1/2 months later when I had an issue and called them for service. It was then that I was told any service after the install that I might need would be a service call that I would have to pay for! It was at that moment that I first learned that there was no labor warranty unless it was an installation problem! Although it is “usual and customary” in this area to include a period after sale and installation, the owner said he owes not do that and is entitled to run his business any way he chooses. I think potential customers have a right to know this as he does not advertise that policy.

My Mini split for the main bedroom stopped working. They came out and found the circuit board in the outside unit had burned up. They promised to buy one and install. A week later I had to call to ask why I had not heard from them. They said the board was not available from the suppliers they deal with. I asked if they would install a new 38SEER mini split that I would buy for $1,347 including installation kit and free shipping. They refused saying I should find a different company. They don't offer 38SEER heat pumps. Only low performance 24SEER. From discussion with them it appears that when they buy the equipment the installation charge works out to about $600 per hour or more. They tried to hide it by saying they don't charge an hourly rate only a flat rate and their charges are fair. This is not fair, it is horrendous. They took a couple of hundred dollars from me and I got nothing.

I highly recommend GP Plumbing. They are very professional, on time, great communicators, priced under competitors and great quality work. My phone calls were immediately returned and they showed up when scheduled. I have used them in the past for small plumbing needs and recently used them for a new sewer line from my home to the street. Guy Poirier and his crew were excellent to deal with for this huge issue of mine. He explained everything that would be done and completed the job as described. Considering, there was large equipment on my yard and a lot of digging, my yard looked very nice when they were done. I could tell they take pride in their work. Guy and his crew were VERY knowledgeable and I felt extremely confident in their work. Guy didn’t try to up sell me on this job (like other companies tried when I got quotes) GP Plumbing was the best price out of 3 quotes I got from other companies. Including the office staff, everyone I dealt with at GP Plumbing were very friendly and professional!

Initially responded well but then tried to up-sell. A/C failed again within 24-hours and was told the repairs were only temporary; totally opposite what the technician explained less than a day prior. In fact, they advised that the drain pipe that they performed an acid-wash on needed to be replaced for system to work. Uh, reality check, why would I have paid to acid-wash a drain pipe that you now say needs re-locating fit the system to work? Surely they wouldn't have re-used the old pipe. The A/C System has since been repaired by a “professional service“ for less than What GP charged.

I really feel I did not get what I paid for. The service as outlined at Angie’s List was not performed in its entirety. There were a few items that were not performed. (Examples: Termostat Calibration, Filter inspection & Cleaning, Bearing inspection & Oiling). On top of his I was charged for the 1 lb of freon that was included as part of the Angie’s List offer. I called their office the next day and spoke with the manager. He was anxious to hear about the services performed and not performed. I received a refund for the overcharge of 1 lb of freon and was also given a complimentary one year of maintenance service. I raised my concerns about the extremely high prices for freon ($80.00. / lb) and stop leak ($285.00) and was advised that it is significantly lower if you have a maintenance contract.

Response from GP Plumbing & Air Conditioning
As we appreciate the high marks for Professionalism, Punctuality, and the A for responsiveness, we consider any overall grade under an A a disappointment. As Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated, I did follow up with him immediately, and he informed me he felt he didn't get his free lb of R22. Because the free lb was not stated on our invoice, we promptly refunded the payment. In reference to the incomplete service, he told me he felt we didn't calibrate his t-stat. The new electric t-stat's calibration is checking its function, which Mr. [Member Name Removed] confirmed with me is running with no problems, as they do not require the same attention as the old mercury style. He also left out that we did drain line repairs, reworking his problematic drain line to flow effectively as it had never before, at no add'l cost. Our refrigerant is not over-priced for our market place, and we make sure of this regularly. Comparing our refrigerant prices to any other quality service company will verify this, as refrigerant retail and wholesale costs are as high as they've ever been. This negative grade on price is based on Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s opinion, which is veritably inaccurate. Our customers can call us any time of any day, before OR after they give us their business, and we will be more than happy not only to fully educate them on any subject, but also cite our sources of information.

GP responded quickly and saved me $6,000 in their AC system assessment. They are A++ in their integrity and responsiveness
Description of Work: GP Air saved me $6,000. With their prompt estimate of my AC problem. A prior AC contractor lied about the condition of my AC system and said replacement was badly needed. GP found no problems with the AC system. I was being scammed. GP has high integrity, are responsive. I will use them for all future work and so should you.

They tell you exactly what they are doing, how they are doing it, and any additional things that I might nee, and if I needed it or not. Overall they were pretty good. I am beyond frustration that an air conditioner unit/system cannot be repaired once verses multiple times. I have had a new coil, surge protector, humidistat, air compressor and other repairs. I have been told to put Clorox down the drain pipe die to algae growth each month. I was told I must have poor insulation. Now I feel I am just being patronized. I may be an exception but if the airconditionrt did not have the same old problem every time I return I would never call them. I'm looking for a new service provider.

They came out, very nice man. The first thing he said was that I had the wrong filter in my AC unit. I said I know it doesn't fit as snuggly as it should but I could not find the right size at either store I went to. So he said he would measure it and let me know the right size. So he went outside, I live upstairs, he caught that the drain pipes were marked incorrectly. So he changed that and it was appreciated especially by my neighbor. He did his thing and then he left. He didn't get out of the complex before I realized he didn't tell me the correct size to get and when I walked in to look at my unit the filter was sitting on the water heater. It wasn't even up in where it's supposed to go. It does fit up there and it doesn't fall down, it's been up there for six months. So I guess he forgot. Now I don't know what size. So that kind of bothered me. They sent me an email for a follow-up. It was from them and I did write on there everything I just said and I never heard from them. I would have thought they would have called for a follow-up. They didn't even answer their email so why would I expect them to call. He was an older gentleman so I think he just forgot. I would have appreciated it if he would have measured it like he said he was going to do and tell me the size filter to get. Not to answer their email when I told them what my concern was, that surprised me. Their responsiveness was fine before the appointment but after it was terrible.
Description of Work: They were here the latter part of July. I had pre=aoid it several months ago because I had just had it maintained. I'm pretty sure it was $49.

On the last unit if they get a PM on my tenant then had issues the technician and company did not take responsibility for correcting the situation I was in stead trying to be sold a pump and or new drain lines to this air-conditioner that they had installed one year earlier. This company is all about selling you something because they're all on commission which gives them a different drive to correcting a problem.
Description of Work: I joined this company due to the ratings of Angie's list. Since then it is basically a company with the salesman instead of technitions. I started with giving them 15 systems and there's not a single time during the PMs that they do not try to sell you something they are a sales driven Company only.

Response from GP Plumbing & Air Conditioning
As Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated, he joined our company due to our Angie's List rating. We have a consistent record of positive ratings and reviews in all major categories, including Price, Quality, Responsiveness, Professionalism, and Punctuality. Mr [Member Name Removed] did sign up 15 properties with us, and to say that a majority of these systems were dilapidated would be stating it gently. We have numerous pictures on file which solidly prove that Mr. [Member Name Removed] has been having handy-men and unlicensed contractors work on his properties for years. According to Mr. [Member Name Removed], the fact that his air conditioners all had a slew of problems which we inherited when we started servicing the properties is our fault. He would rather us not mention the disintegrating duct-work, and the clogged evaporator coils, and the failing components, and the many problems that occur from a complete lack of proper maintenance. Regarding this specific service visit Mr. [Member Name Removed] is referring to, our work order stated that the air conditioner needed a new drain line, which he refused. When we returned two days later, Mr. [Member Name Removed] had ran the new drain line himself. Apparently, his complaint is that we would not do this for free. Like any responsible service provider, our company refuses to give a clean bill of health to a problematic air conditioner. There are service driven companies, and there are service driven landlords. Contrary to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s statement, we are indeed a service driven company, and we work well with service driven landlords.

It went well. Since the unit was 15 years old, I decided to replace it rather than wait until it failed (like on a 95 degree day in the summer.) Sean called in for a price which seemed fair. I checked a few other places and the price was competitive. I had GP install the new unit. That work was done in about 2 hours. Again, the installers were courteous and professional.
Description of Work: This was an air conditioning tune-up/checkup on a 15-year-old. Sean arrived on time, He carefully examined the unit and said it still seemed to be working well. There was a part that might fail without warning. Cost would be $125. He did not hard sell this item.

We got a call back and was informed that our 1 year service agreement was up and they would no longer honor any of our requests for service. They said they've had problems with us in the past including the fact that we had not given them A rating on Craigslist. They harassed us over and over to improve our unsatisfactory rating. If I'm not mistaken, we thought ratings (just like grades) had to be EARNED. The owners of GP are not interested in knowing what to do to improve their ratings and moreover, are very revengeful to customers who give poor ratings. We will tell people asking for recommendations to steer clear of this organization.
Description of Work: They installed our new A/C unit a little over a year ago. At that time we did have problems with their quality of installation, but after arguments back and forth the unit was finally installed properly and ran OK. We called them back today to see if they could make an appt. with us to come back again to diagnose our current problem. The receptionist took our information and said someone would be calling us back today to set up an appt.

**THIS CUSTOMER WAS CAUGHT LEAVING A FALSE REVIEW ON ANGIE'S LIST** We have alerted Angie's List about this review, due to the fact that it is an attempt by Mrs. [Member Name Removed] to manipulate the rating system. The "problems of the past" she is referring to is a proven false review that she left on Angies List about us previously (It has since been removed, due to its false content.) In fact, she voluntarily changed her "F" to a "C" once we provided Angies List as well as herself with numerous legal documents signed by her stating the exact contrary to her review. Her complaint, which she has briefly and misleadingly mentioned in this review, was that we didn't have the special order breakers for her new system on our truck stock, which is very often the case. It is so common, in fact, that we have a pre-printed quality checklist, which she signed, specifically noting that the breakers need to be special ordered after install, due to the countless name brands of breakers, breaker panels, breaker styles, sizes, etc. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] begrudgingly agreed to Angies List and GP Plumbing & A/C that she hadn't told the truth, and thusly amended her review. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] considers it harassment when she tries to publicly slander a service company, and then is pursued to retract her false statements. Effectively, GP Plumbing & A/C would like any potential customer who reads this review to be aware, **THIS "F" WAS LEFT ON GP PLUMBING & A/C, CORP. DUE TO REFUSING SERVICE TO A CUSTOMER WHO WAS CAUGHT LEAVING A FALSE REVIEW**

Installation OK but some noise problems afterward. Then, it blew a fuse and they charged a night charge to fix but wanted outrageous price for a 50 amp fuse.
Description of Work: They installed a new A/C system and I entered into a service/maintenance contract for two calls per year at two years. Called them in emergency one time. Service man was non-communicative and told me needed a new 50 amp breaker which he did not have. I paid for the call and he took a working breaker from another location and installed it. Several days later, he showed up asking an exorbitant price for the breaker and wanting to charge me again for the service call. I refused the service. Then, they cancelled my contract and never notified me. Now they will not even agree to do service work on the system again due to "liability." This is the most unresponsive and least caring company I have ever dealt with and wonder why you still deal with them.

The timeline, including the omitted details, for Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s events, are as follows: We performed a Saturday system install on April 23, 2016. We had even provided Mr. [Member Name Removed] with a portable a/c at no charge so he wasn't left without air overnight. On Nov. 22, 2016, seven months after install, his breaker failed. This breaker was pre-existing, it was not changed out by our installers because its size was sufficient. We ran a same-day late night emergency service call (with no trip charge & no diagnostic charge) and identified the faulty breaker. We even temporarily relocated another appliance breaker to get Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s a/c up & running. The so-called "exorbitantly priced fuse" is a 60 amp 2-pole stablock breaker. (We have provided the size and name brand because we urge anyone reading this review to look up the cost of said breaker, they are not inexpensive.) Mr. [Member Name Removed] then signed our work order authorizing us to order the breaker, which was extremely fair priced. When we returned to do the repair, Mr. [Member Name Removed] stopped our technician and stated he'll fix it himself. He then informed us that he's a scientist, so he's more than capable of fixing an air conditioner. Of course, performing high voltage repairs by a non-licensed individual is a liability waiting to happen, and our position as a responsible service company was to remove ourself from this situation. We find it appalling that after everything we've done for Mr. [Member Name Removed] he refers to us as "unresponsive and least caring." Our company over-extended ourselves with him in every interaction we had. And if he wonders why Angies List still deals with us, one need look no further than our numerous and consistent high ratings and positive reviews shared by Angies Lists members, and non-members alike.

We had used GP Pluming previously for a hot water tank replacement and had no issues at that time, so we had a favorable opinion of GP before this incident. Our fail-safe for the drain backing up was tripped, shutting off our unit, and we had water in our pan under the air handler. We live in an upstairs condo and had caused issues with our downstairs neighbor years earlier with a backed-up drain. That combined with 90 degree days, we had to have the AC serviced and the drain unclogged. Prior to the tech arriving, I had taken the grate off of the cover of the air return, directly under the air handler. I felt around the floor, and breathed a sigh of relief as it was dry and didn't have to worry about my snowbird of a neighbor. Contacted GP pluming to have the service done. Tech arrived on time and was delightful. He spent about 45 min total working on our unit. He got the water to stop backing up into the pan, which made the fail-safe happy and made us happy as the unit was working again. He told us that the drain was clean, but having a shared drain with other units, there was always the possibility that the drain could back up again at some point down the road. We acknowledged we were made aware, wrote a check for $488 for the weekend call and for the tech's time. We also signed up for a service agreement for 2 (maybe 1, I forget) years, which included regular maintenance and a discount on service calls. Now, after having caused extensive damage to our neighbor's unit below, I was not going to take a chance of unknowingly having however many gallons of water seep into the walls below. After we realized what had happened (3 years prior), we had the entire AC replaced by a different company than GP. I include the backstory for later use. I purchased two alarms that go off if they sense water accumulation (link to Amazon will be at the end). They arrived on Tuesday (service done Sunday before) and I placed them in the space under our air handler along with some cookie pans to catch anything and alert us if water began to drip. It was more for peace of mind than anything as we thought our issues were taken care of fully. As you can imagine why I'm writing this review, the frogs (see the link) alerted us to water in the pans below the air handler within a few hours of putting the frogs in. I found the source of the water : the PVC pipe for the drain was covered in water and would be wet again within a few minutes if I wiped it down. I can't quantify how much was dripping per hour, but it was enough that after a few weeks, it would most certainly cause issues with my neighbor's ceiling and sheetrock. I called GP back to inform them of the water dripping. I don't recall the name of who I spoke with, but I do recall the title they had was significant. Owner, Manager, Supervisor. He told me that the pipe was "sweating" and that it was condensation that was dripping. He told me that I should wrap insulation around the pipe as the water that was flowing through it was ice cold and the space under the air handler was roughly room temperature, maybe 10 degrees warmer. Now this is left to interpretation, but the fact that I was told to fix an issue myself did not sit well with me. Maybe it falls under protocol for a company to ask a customer to fix an issue on their own, but 3 days after spending $488 for a service call and another $200 for a service contract, I expected something more than what I received. Interpretation aside, I did as he suggested and put insulation around the pipe. I placed my baking pans and frogs back in place and was quite unsure if this would fix the issue or not. This was not the case. Within a few hours, my frogs were beeping (sounds like smoke detectors) and I had a half full baking tray. For reference, I want to say that these are about an inch deep and probably 9" x 11". I took the insulation off the PVC, and sure enough, the pipe had droplets of water all over it, top to bottom, just as it had pre-insulation. So I called the company that installed the unit 3 years prior. Never bad in getting a second opinion. They sent a tech out the next day to inspect the issue. It was possible that the drain was clogged and was backed up to a certain point, but not so far as to trip the fail-safe and have water in the pan. He spent about an hour cleaning the drain. After he applied pressure to the pipe to "blow" out the crud, he brought me a 2 gallon bucket half full of sludge, slime, and a small part water. He told me that he was able to clear about 2 gallons of sludge out of the drain. Turns out that the tech from GP hadn't done such a hot job on cleaning out the pipe. While the drain was clean enough to let the system function, it was still in dire need of a full cleaning. The tech told me that he was unsure if a sparkling clean drain would fix our dripping issue, but told me to call him after a few days and let him know if any water collected. Pans and frogs in place. Sure enough, about 2 hours after he left, frogs were singing. I looked up, but this time I saw water dripping from the plywood that supports the air handler. Now I knew it wasn't a sweating or condensation issue. It was after business hours, so I contacted the company (again, not GP) the next day. I was told that they would send someone out to evaluate the issue ASAP and see if this was a problem with shoddy workmanship from 3 years ago or a problem that they could bill us for as our warranty was gone. At this point, I sent an email along with the picture that I have attached to the review to GP asking for my $200 back for the service contract. Between the drain not being fully cleaned, or even close, and a someone in a supervisory position suggesting that I work on a unit after I had just spent close to $700 with the company, I did not feel comfortable with having a service contract going forward with the company. I did not ask for any of the $488 back for the service call as the tech did get us blowing cold air again and we didn't have any more water in the drain pan. While I didn't get any push back for getting my $200 returned to me, I did get some excuses and "find it hard to believe"s about what the other company performed. Also, because we live in a condo unit and we "probably" share drain lines with other units, those units would be a source of some slime and gunk in the line. I could have countered this with the fact that everyone else in our building are snowbirds and we are the only ones who have been here since March, but I ignored it. I doubt that they are keeping their units at 76 degrees during the entire spring, summer, and fall. Now to where I find GP to be at fault and my issue with their service (in the home and over the phone). Turns out, there was a crack in the drain pipe that was covered by some spray on insulation (placed at the time of installation, I didn't apply it). When our drain back up fail-safe alarm first tripped on 8/28, I checked and the area under the air handler was completely dry. It wasn't until AFTER the tech from GP "attempted" to clean the drain that we started to have water dripping under the unit. Not sure what he did, but all circumstantial evidence points to the crack appearing while he was there working on our unit. The new company offered to fix the cracked pipe for a reasonable fee, but suggested that we go back to GP and have them cover the repair as it would have happened while their tech was here. This did not go over well. Contacting and speaking to the same person (Director of Operations) that I exchanged the emails with resulted in nothing but being talked to in a condescending manner and a refusal to take any responsibility for the damage. Didn't even offer to send anyone out to take a look at the cracked pipe. Just disrespect and denial. So in the end, we had the other company fix the issue. We haven't had any further contact with GP and don't wish to. While they may do exemplary work and stand behind work that they perform with no issues, when it comes to taking responsibility for fixing an issue that they caused. Had they not given excuses of a half-assed job on cleaning a drain, asked me to work on my own unit, or even come out to take a look at the drain after the problem was found, we might have different opinion. However, the condescending tone that we received as non-professional HVAC techs not knowing what we were talking about basically killed any chance of that happening. [*** Link removed ***]

Response from GP Plumbing & Air Conditioning
Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s involvement and recounting of these events have taken us by surprise. To begin, we never dealt with Mrs. [Member Name Removed] in person, only her son Mark. We never knew she existed until she called our office, after her son had already called, spoke to the owner and service manager, expressed his complaint, and received exactly what he asked for, a $199.00 refund for his PMA (preventative service agreement). Obviously, we had felt like we had done right by our customer by extending the full refund he requested, and that the issue had been resolved, just to have Mrs [Member Name Removed] call after the fact and literally state the same issues a second time. By Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s own statement, it was more than fair to pay the portion of the bill that covered the technician's trip, time, and materials to perform a drain line cleaning. His choice of cancelling and being refunded his service agreement seemed more than fair to us, seeing that a second company came out to find the drain line clogged a short time after we cleared it, so we complied. To review Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s statements; First, the total $488.00 included the $199.00 for the service contract, it was not in addition to it. Second, we did state and still reiterate that drain lines clog frequently. What Mrs. [Member Name Removed] left out is, Mr. [Member Name Removed] personally witnessed us remove twice as much sludge as the following company. He openly admitted this in conversation, which is why he gladly agreed our time was worth paying for, not to mention we came out promptly on a Sunday afternoon. Lastly, we are disappointed that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] saw fit to negatively rate us, seeing that we had already responded to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s complaint and granted his full refund request.
