I called GET-ER-DONE/Daniel Jirkowski for an estimate to cut and remove a Bismarkia tree. As he was close by, he arrived very quickly. He gave me a quote of $225, and a sob story about how he had open heart surgery just two weeks ago, had 5 kids to feed, etc. He had a young man, he said was his nephew and he said would be doing most of the work because he wasn't even supposed to be working yet. He said the doctor had told him to stay home, but he was desperate to pay his rent, etc. He assured me they would cut the tree in manageable pieces and stack everything at the street, and Waste Pro would take it all away the next day. I told him I was waiting for another estimate, but he was begging and assured me that he would "treat me right and give me a great price" if I'd let him do the job right then. His price $225 for the job seemed fair for the work involved. They did do a nice job taking the tree down, stacking it at the curb, and grinding the stump. The problem is he lied about Waste Pro taking it away. Waste Pro left the tree debris along with a "Notice of Non-Compliance". I called the City and Waste Pro and was told that "ALL CONTRACTORS KNOW THAT IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO REMOVE ALL THEIR OWN WASTE". Now I will have to pay extra to Waste Pro or some other waste hauler. I would have paid GET-ER-DONE/Daniel Jirkowski more to cover the hauling of the waste - if he had only been honest about it. I have tried to reach him on his cell phone (in his pocket), and left messages for two days - he does not answer or return messages. Besides the extra expense I will have to incur to get this debris removed, I have had to waste much time making calls to go around with City Hall and Waste Pro over this issue. Truth would have served him better. Beware of contractors with sob stories, most of it was not true.
Description of Work: Cut down a dying Bismarkia Tree, cut it into manageable pieces, put everything in neat row at the edge of street for horticulture pickup, which was scheduled next day. Assured me that Waste Pro horticulture trucks would take it away!
