Had Jason come out to provide a quote for fixing our kitchen cabinets, which the builder screwed up before going out of business. After that, I called and left several messages, and emailed several times, but he never responded to any of them. Now we have to hire someone else after waiting a month and getting nothing.

This is a bit of a complicated situation and involves a contractor who did excellent work on an initial project but then abandoned the opportunity for future business at the same residential location and at a very inopportune time for me. Therefore, I want to be very clear that I was extremely satisfied with the work which was done on the first project but very displeased at being led on and then abandoned before the second project with a very aggressive schedule. This is why you see good notes for quality and price, but a "C" for responsiveness. Maybe there should be lower grades for Responsiveness and Professionalism, but I wanted to be as fair as possible because the company did good work. They just didn't follow up. I will let the readers judge from the following explanation: I hired Distinctive Contracting to complete a full-house re-tiling project and also a guest bathroom renovation. From the quotation process through the clarification phase of the project, the Owner of the company was highly professional and helpful at explaining all the steps in the process. During the actual work, the Distinctive team worked swiftly and independently keeping the noise and dirt/dust to a minimum. During the project execution phase, the team was always punctual and courteous. After the project was completed, we did a walk through with The Distinctive Owner and found only minor items, but items that needed to be followed-up on and replacement parts ordered (i.e. damage to furniture and a replacement cabinet drawer front). He mentioned that these would be no problem to rectify and that he would get right on it. These items were never completed. That same day, we also discussed an additional project to be awarded and completed within the next three months. This project was a complete Master bathroom renovation in the same house. The Distinctive Owner spent three hours with us going through the specification for the new project. He was interested and enthusiastic about the next project, and we were very happy with his work from the previous one. After that three hour meeting reviewing future business, we never heard from him again. Why would he spend three hours reviewing a specification and talking about a project and then disappear? The company is still around, but he never returned multiple phone calls. Once he was paid, he must have found better projects paying more money and abandoned his responsibility for mine. Even though I give them a "B" because of the good work they did on the first project, I would not recommend Distinctive Contracting for further work due to the owner?s lack of responsiveness after walking through a completed project and not making good on items which needed improvement. Also, his initial interest and then complete lack of responsiveness left me scrambling to find another qualified contractor to complete a Master Bath renovation within my limited timeline.
